Blessed is Yahweh your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because Yahweh loved Israel forever, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

Jehovah thy God is blessed who delighted in thee, to put thee on the throne of Israel; in Jehovah’s loving Israel to the age He doth set thee for king, to do judgment and righteousness.

She gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices, and precious stones. Never again was there such an abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

And she giveth to the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices very many, and precious stone; there came not like that spice any more for abundance that the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

The fleet of Hiram that brought gold from Ophir also brought in from Ophir great quantities of almug trees° and precious stones.

And also, the navy of Hiram that bore gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir almug-trees very many, and precious stone;

King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, in addition to that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own land, she and her servants.

And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, apart from that which he gave to her as a memorial of king Solomon, and she turneth and goeth to her land, she and her servants.

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents° of gold,

All the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put in his heart.

and all the earth is seeking the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom that God hath put into his heart,

of the nations concerning which Yahweh said to the children of Israel, “You shall not go among them, neither shall they come among you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon joined to these in love.

of the nations of which Jehovah said unto the sons of Israel, ‘Ye do not go in to them, and they do not go in to you; surely they turn aside your heart after their gods;’ to them hath Solomon cleaved for love.

Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

Then doth Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is on the front of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon;

and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he didn’t keep that which Yahweh commanded.

and given a charge unto him concerning this thing, not to go after other gods; and he hath not kept that which Jehovah commanded,

Therefore Yahweh said to Solomon, “Because this is done by you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

and Jehovah saith to Solomon, ‘Because that this hath been with thee, and thou hast not kept My covenant and My statutes that I charged upon thee, I surely rend the kingdom from thee, and have given it to thy servant.

However, I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.”

God raised up an adversary to him, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord, Hadadezer king of Zobah.

And God raiseth to him an adversary, Rezon son of Eliadah, who hath fled from Hadadezer king of Zobah, his lord,

This was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breach of his father David’s city.

Ahijah took the new garment that was on him, and tore it in twelve pieces.

and Ahijah layeth hold on the new garment that is on him, and rendeth it-twelve pieces,

(but he shall have one tribe, for my servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel),

and the one tribe he hath for My servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have fixed on, out of all the tribes of Israel.

because they have forsaken me, and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon. They have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my ordinances, as David his father did.

‘Because they have forsaken Me, and bow themselves to Ashtoreth, goddess of the Zidonians, to Chemosh god of Moab, and to Milcom god of the sons of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways, to do that which is right in Mine eyes, and My statutes and My judgments, like David his father.

“ ‘However, I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant’s sake whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes,

‘And I do not take the whole of the kingdom out of his hand, for prince I make him all days of his life, for the sake of David My servant whom I chose, who kept My commands and My statutes;

I will give one tribe to his son, that David my servant may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen for myself to put my name there.

and to his son I give one tribe, for there being a lamp to David My servant all the days before Me in Jerusalem, the city that I have chosen to Myself to put My name there.

I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.

And I will take H3947 (QalImpf) thee, and thou shalt reign H4427 (QalPerf) according to all that thy soul H5315 desireth, H183 (PielImpf) and shalt be king H4428 over Israel. H3478

‘And thee I take, and thou hast reigned over all that thy soul desireth, and thou hast been king over Israel;

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, aren’t they written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

And the rest of the matters of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written on the book of the matters of Solomon?

When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was yet in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon, and Jeroboam lived in Egypt;

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 who was yet in Egypt, H4714 heard H8085 (QalInf) [of it], (for he was fled H1272 (QalPerf) from the presence H6440 of king H4428 Solomon, H8010 and Jeroboam H3379 dwelt H3427 (QalImpf) in Egypt; H4714)

And it cometh to pass, at Jeroboam son of Nebat’s hearing (and he is yet in Egypt where he hath fled from the presence of Solomon the king, and Jeroboam dwelleth in Egypt),

“Your father made our yoke difficult. Now therefore make the hard service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”

‘Thy father made hard our yoke, and thou, now, make light some of the hard service of thy father, and his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we serve thee.’

King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me to answer these people?”

And king Rehoboam consulteth with the elders who have been standing in the presence of Solomon his father, in his being alive, saying, ‘How are ye counselling to answer this people?’

But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.

But he forsook H5800 (QalImpf) the counsel H6098 of the old men, H2205 which they had given H3289 (QalPerf) him, and consulted H3289 (NiphImpf) with the young men H3206 that were grown up H1431 (QalPerf) with him, [and] which stood H5975 (QalActPtc) before H6440 him:

And he forsaketh the counsel of the elders which they counselled him, and consulteth with the lads who have grown up with him, who are standing before him;

He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may answer these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter’?”

and he saith unto them, ‘What are ye counselling, and we answer this people, who have spoken unto me, saying, Lighten somewhat of the yoke that thy father put upon us?’

The young men who had grown up with him said to him, “Tell these people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter to us’— tell them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.

And they speak unto him-the lads who had grown up with him-saying, ‘Thus dost thou say to this people who have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and thou, make it light upon us; thus dost thou speak unto them, My little finger is thicker than the loins of my father;

The king answered the people roughly, and abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him,

And the king H4428 answered H6030 (QalImpf) the people H5971 roughly, H7186 and forsook H5800 (QalImpf) the old men’s H2205 counsel H6098 that they gave H3289 (QalPerf) him;

And the king answereth the people sharply, and forsaketh the counsel of the elders which they counselled him,

So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was a thing brought about from Yahweh, that he might establish his word, which Yahweh spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Wherefore the king H4428 hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) not unto the people; H5971 for the cause H5438 was from the Lord, H3068 that he might perform H6965 (HiphInf) his saying, H1697 which the Lord H3068 spake H1696 (PielPerf) by H3027 Ahijah H281 the Shilonite H7888 unto Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat. H5028

and the king hearkened not unto the people, for the revolution was from Jehovah, in order to establish His word that Jehovah spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam son of Nebat.

Then King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and all Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam hurried to get himself up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Then king H4428 Rehoboam H7346 sent H7971 (QalImpf) Adoram, H151 who [was] over the tribute; H4522 and all Israel H3478 stoned H7275 (QalImpf) him with stones, H68 that he died. And king Rehoboam sendeth Adoram who is over the tribute, and all Israel cast at him stones, and he dieth; and king Rehoboam hath strengthened himself to go up into a chariot to flee to Jerusalem;

He made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

And he maketh the house of high places, and maketh priests of the extremities of the people, who were not of the sons of Levi;

Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Judah, and he went up to the altar. He did so in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made, and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made.

And Jeroboam H3379 ordained H6213 (QalImpf) a feast H2282 in the eighth H8066 month, H2320 on the fifteenth H2568 H6240 day H3117 of the month, H2320 like unto the feast H2282 that [is] in Judah, H3063 and he offered H5927 (HiphImpf) upon the altar. and Jeroboam maketh a festival in the eighth month, in the fifteenth day of the month, like the festival that is in Judah, and he offereth on the altar-so did he in Beth-El-to sacrifice to the calves which he made, and he hath appointed in Beth-El the priests of the high places that he made.

He went up to the altar which he had made in Bethel on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up to the altar to burn incense.

So he offered H5927 (HiphImpf) upon the altar H4196 which he had made H6213 (QalPerf) in Bethel H1008 the fifteenth H2568 H6240 day H3117 of the eighth H8066 month, H2320 [even] in the month H2320 which he had devised H908 (QalPerf) of his own heart; H3820 and ordained H6213 (QalImpf) a feast H2282 unto the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 and he offered H5927 (HiphImpf) upon the altar, H4196 and burnt incense. And he offereth up on the altar that he made in Beth-El, on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, in the month that he devised of his own heart, and he maketh a festival to the sons of Israel, and offereth on the altar-to make perfume.

He gave a sign the same day, saying, “This is the sign which Yahweh has spoken: Behold, the altar will be split apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out.”

And he gave H5414 (QalPerf) a sign H4159 the same day, H3117 saying, H559 (QalInf) This [is] the sign H4159 which the Lord H3068 hath spoken; H1696 (PielPerf) Behold, the altar H4196 shall be rent, H7167 (NiphPerf) and the ashes H1880 that [are] upon it shall be poured out. H8210 (NiphPerf)

And he hath given on that day a sign, saying, ‘This is the sign that Jehovah hath spoken, Lo, the altar is rent, and the ashes poured forth that are on it.’

When the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.

And it came to pass, when king H4428 Jeroboam H3379 heard H8085 (QalInf) the saying H1697 of the man H376 of God, H430 which had cried H7121 (QalPerf) against the altar H4196 in Bethel, H1008 that he put forth H7971 (QalImpf) his hand H3027 from the altar, H4196 saying, H559 (QalInf) Lay hold H8610 (QalImpv) on him. And his hand, H3027 which he put forth H7971 (QalPerf) against him, dried up, H3001 (QalImpf) so that he could H3201 (QalPerf) not pull it in again H7725 (HiphInf) to him.

And it cometh to pass, at the king’s hearing the word of the man of God that he calleth against the altar in Beth-El, that Jeroboam putteth forth his hand from off the altar, saying, ‘Catch him;’ and his hand is dried up that he hath put forth against him, and he is not able to bring it back unto him,

The altar was also split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by Yahweh’s word.

The altar H4196 also was rent, H7167 (NiphPerf) and the ashes H1880 poured out H8210 (NiphImpf) from the altar, H4196 according to the sign H4159 which the man H376 of God H430 had given H5414 (QalPerf) by the word H1697 of the Lord. H3068

and the altar is rent, and the ashes poured forth from the altar, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of Jehovah.

for so was it commanded me by Yahweh’s word, saying, ‘You shall eat no bread, drink no water, and don’t return by the way that you came.’ ”

For so was it charged H6680 (PielPerf) me by the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) Eat H398 (QalImpf) no bread, H3899 nor drink H8354 (QalImpf) water, H4325 nor turn again H7725 (QalImpf) by the same way H1870 that thou camest. H1980 (QalPerf)

for so He commanded me by the word of Jehovah, saying, Thou dost not eat bread nor drink water, nor turn back in the way that thou hast come.’

So he went another way, and didn’t return by the way that he came to Bethel.

So he went H3212 (QalImpf) another H312 way, H1870 and returned H7725 (QalPerf) not by the way H1870 that he came H935 (QalPerf) to Bethel. H1008

And he goeth on in another way, and hath not turned back in the way in which he came in unto Beth-El.

Now an old prophet lived in Bethel, and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told their father the words which he had spoken to the king.

Now there dwelt H3427 (QalActPtc) an H259 old H2205 prophet H5030 in Bethel; H1008 and his sons H1121 came H935 (QalImpf) and told H5608 (PielImpf) him all the works H4639 that the man H376 of God H430 had done H6213 (QalPerf) that day H3117 in Bethel: H1008 the words H1697 which he had spoken H1696 (PielPerf) unto the king, H4428 them they told H5608 (PielImpf) also to their father. And a certain aged prophet is dwelling in Beth-El, and his son cometh and recounteth to him all the deed that the man of God hath done to-day in Beth-El, the words that he hath spoken unto the king,-yea, they recount them to their father.

Their father said to them, “Which way did he go?” Now his sons had seen which way the man of God went, who came from Judah.

And their father saith unto them, ‘Where is this-the way he hath gone?’ and his sons see the way that the man of God hath gone who came from Judah.

He went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak. He said to him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” He said, “I am.”

And went H3212 (QalImpf) after H310 the man H376 of God, H430 and found H4672 (QalImpf) him sitting H3427 (QalActPtc) under an oak: H424 and he said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, [Art] thou the man H376 of God H430 that camest H935 (QalPerf) from Judah? H3063 And he said, H559 (QalImpf) I [am].

and goeth after the man of God, and findeth him sitting under the oak, and saith unto him, ‘Art thou the man of God who hast come from Judah?’ and he saith, ‘I am.’

For it was said to me by Yahweh’s word, ‘You shall eat no bread or drink water there, and don’t turn again to go by the way that you came.’ ”

For it was said H1697 to me by the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 Thou shalt eat H398 (QalImpf) no bread H3899 nor drink H8354 (QalImpf) water H4325 there, nor turn again H7725 (QalImpf) to go H3212 (QalInf) by the way H1870 that thou camest. H1980 (QalPerf)

for a word is unto me by the word of Jehovah, Thou dost not eat bread nor drink there water, thou dost not turn back to go in the way in which thou camest.’

As they sat at the table, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet who brought him back;

And it came to pass, as they sat H3427 (QalActPtc) at the table, H7979 that the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came unto the prophet H5030 that brought him back: H7725 (HiphPerf)

And it cometh to pass-they are sitting at the table-and a word of Jehovah is unto the prophet who brought him back,

and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Yahweh says, ‘Because you have been disobedient to Yahweh’s word, and have not kept the commandment which Yahweh your God commanded you,

And he cried H7121 (QalImpf) unto the man H376 of God H430 that came H935 (QalPerf) from Judah, H3063 saying, H559 (QalInf) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Forasmuch as H3282 thou hast disobeyed H4784 (QalPerf) the mouth H6310 of the Lord, H3068 and hast not kept H8104 (QalPerf) the commandment H4687 which the Lord H3068 thy God H430 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) thee,

and he calleth unto the man of God who came from Judah, saying, ‘Thus said Jehovah, Because that thou hast provoked the mouth of Jehovah, and hast not kept the command that Jehovah thy God charged thee,

but came back, and have eaten bread and drank water in the place of which he said to you, “Eat no bread, and drink no water,” your body will not come to the tomb of your fathers.’ ”

But camest back, H7725 (QalImpf) and hast eaten H398 (QalImpf) bread H3899 and drunk H8354 (QalImpf) water H4325 in the place, H4725 of the which [the Lord] did say H1696 (PielPerf) to thee, Eat H398 (QalImpf) no bread, H3899 and drink H8354 (QalImpf) no water; H4325 thy carcase H5038 shall not come H935 (QalImpf) unto the sepulchre H6913 of thy fathers. H1

and turnest back and dost eat bread and drink water in the place of which He said unto thee, Thou dost not eat bread nor drink water-thy carcase cometh not in unto the burying-place of thy fathers.’

After he had eaten bread and after he drank, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back.

And it came to pass, after H310 he had eaten H398 (QalInf) bread, H3899 and after H310 he had drunk, H8354 (QalInf) that he saddled H2280 (QalImpf) for him the ass, H2543 [to wit], for the prophet H5030 whom he had brought back. H7725 (HiphPerf)

And it cometh to pass, after his eating bread, and after his drinking, that he saddleth for him the ass, for the prophet whom he had brought back,

Behold, men passed by and saw the body thrown on the path, and the lion standing by the body; and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet lived.

And, behold, men H582 passed by, H5674 (QalActPtc) and saw H7200 (QalImpf) the carcase H5038 cast H7993 (HophPtc) in the way, H1870 and the lion H738 standing H5975 (QalActPtc) by H681 the carcase: H5038 and they came H935 (QalImpf) and told H1696 (PielImpf) [it] in the city H5892 where the old H2205 prophet H5030 dwelt. H3427 (QalActPtc)

And lo, men are passing by, and see the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing near the carcase, and they come and speak of it in the city in which the old prophet is dwelling.

When the prophet who brought him back from the way heard of it, he said, “It is the man of God who was disobedient to Yahweh’s word. Therefore Yahweh has delivered him to the lion, which has mauled him and slain him, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke to him.”

And when the prophet H5030 that brought him back H7725 (HiphPerf) from the way H1870 heard H8085 (QalImpf) [thereof], he said, H559 (QalImpf) It [is] the man H376 of God, H430 who was disobedient H4784 (QalPerf) unto the word H6310 of the Lord: H3068 therefore the Lord H3068 hath delivered H5414 (QalImpf) him unto the lion, H738 which hath torn H7665 (QalImpf) him, and slain H4191 (HiphImpf) him, according to the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 which he spake H1696 (PielPerf) unto him.

And the prophet who brought him back out of the way heareth and saith, ‘It is the man of God who provoked the mouth of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth him to the lion, and it destroyeth him, and putteth him to death, according to the word of Jehovah that he spake to him.’

After he had buried him, he spoke to his sons, saying, “When I am dead, bury me in the tomb in which the man of God is buried. Lay my bones beside his bones.

And it came to pass, after H310 he had buried H6912 (QalInf) him, that he spake H559 (QalImpf) to his sons, H1121 saying, H559 (QalInf) When I am dead, H4191 (QalInf) then bury H6912 (QalPerf) me in the sepulchre H6913 wherein the man H376 of God H430 [is] buried; H6912 (QalPasPtc) lay H3240 (HiphImpv) my bones H6106 beside H681 his bones: H6106

And it cometh to pass, after his burying him, that he speaketh unto his sons, saying, ‘At my death-ye have buried me in the burying-place in which the man of God is buried; near his bones place my bones;

For the saying which he cried by Yahweh’s word against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”

For the saying H1697 which he cried H7121 (QalPerf) by the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 against the altar H4196 in Bethel, H1008 and against all the houses H1004 of the high places H1116 which [are] in the cities H5892 of Samaria, H8111 shall surely come to pass.

for the word certainly cometh to pass that he called by the word of Jehovah concerning the altar which is Beth-El, and concerning all the houses of the high places that are in cities of Samaria.’
