“When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furniture of the sanctuary, as the camp moves forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to carry it; but they shall not touch the sanctuary, lest they die. The sons of Kohath shall carry these things belonging to the Tent of Meeting.

τουτο ποιησατε αυτοις και ζησονται και ου μη αποθανωσιν προσπορευομενων αυτων προς τα αγια των αγιων ααρων και οι υιοι αυτου προσπορευεσθωσαν και καταστησουσιν αυτους εκαστον κατα την αναφοραν αυτου

but they shall not go in to see the sanctuary even for a moment, lest they die.”

“‘All the days that he separates himself to Yahweh he shall not go near a dead body.

εαν δε τις αποθανη εξαπινα επ αυτω παραχρημα μιανθησεται η κεφαλη ευχης αυτου και ξυρησεται την κεφαλην αυτου η αν ημερα καθαρισθη τη ημερα τη εβδομη ξυρηθησεται

Let her not, I pray, be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.”

Now if you killed this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying,

και εκτριψεις τον λαον τουτον ωσει ανθρωπον ενα και ερουσιν τα εθνη οσοι ακηκοασιν το ονομα σου λεγοντες

I, Yahweh, have spoken. I will surely do this to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”

εγω κυριος ελαλησα η μην ουτως ποιησω τη συναγωγη τη πονηρα ταυτη τη επισυνεσταμενη επ εμε εν τη ερημω ταυτη εξαναλωθησονται και εκει αποθανουνται

even those men who brought up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Yahweh.

και απεθανον οι ανθρωποι οι κατειπαντες κατα της γης πονηρα εν τη πληγη εναντι κυριου

Yahweh said to Moses, “The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside of the camp.”

All the congregation brought him outside of the camp, and stoned him to death with stones, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

μη μικρον τουτο οτι ανηγαγες ημας εκ γης ρεουσης γαλα και μελι αποκτειναι ημας εν τη ερημω οτι καταρχεις ημων αρχων

If these men die the common death of all men, or if they experience what all men experience, then Yahweh hasn’t sent me.

Numbers 16:29 Heb. as every man dieth

But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed Yahweh’s people!”

He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

Numbers 17:10 Heb. children of rebellion

They shall keep your commands and the duty of the whole Tent; only they shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary and to the altar, that they not die, neither they nor you.

You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil. You shall serve. I give you the service of the priesthood as a gift. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.”

Henceforth the children of Israel shall not come near the Tent of Meeting, lest they bear sin, and die.

Numbers 18:22 Heb. to die

και ου προσελευσονται ετι οι υιοι ισραηλ εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου λαβειν αμαρτιαν θανατηφορον

You shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it its best. You shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, that you not die.’”

“He who touches the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

Numbers 19:11 Heb. soul

ο απτομενος του τεθνηκοτος πασης ψυχης ανθρωπου ακαθαρτος εσται επτα ημερας

Whoever touches a dead person, the body of a man who has died, and doesn’t purify himself, defiles Yahweh’s tabernacle; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel; because the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him, he shall be unclean. His uncleanness is yet on him.

“This is the law when a man dies in a tent: everyone who comes into the tent, and everyone who is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

“Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

A clean person shall take hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent, on all the vessels, on the persons who were there, and on him who touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave.

The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died there, and was buried there.

Why have you brought Yahweh’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?

και ινα τι ανηγαγετε την συναγωγην κυριου εις την ερημον ταυτην αποκτειναι ημας και τα κτηνη ημων

and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron shall be gathered, and shall die there.”

and strip H6584 (HiphImpv) Aaron H175 of his garments, H899 and put H3847 (HiphPerf) them upon Eleazar H499 his son: H1121 and Aaron H175 shall be gathered H622 (NiphImpf) unto his people, and shall die H4191 (QalPerf) there.

και εκδυσον ααρων την στολην αυτου και ενδυσον ελεαζαρ τον υιον αυτου και ααρων προστεθεις αποθανετω εκει

Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.

The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

Yahweh sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.

και απεστειλεν κυριος εις τον λαον τους οφεις τους θανατουντας και εδακνον τον λαον και απεθανεν λαος πολυς των υιων ισραηλ

Who can count the dust of Jacob, or count the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous! Let my last end be like his!”

Numbers 23:10 Heb. my soul, or my life

τις εξηκριβασατο το σπερμα ιακωβ και τις εξαριθμησεται δημους ισραηλ αποθανοι η ψυχη μου εν ψυχαις δικαιων και γενοιτο το σπερμα μου ως το σπερμα τουτων

Those who died by the plague were twenty-four thousand.

The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.

Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before Yahweh.

και απεθανεν ναδαβ και αβιουδ εν τω προσφερειν αυτους πυρ αλλοτριον εναντι κυριου εν τη ερημω σινα

For Yahweh had said of them, “They shall surely die in the wilderness.” There was not a man left of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

“Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the company of Korah, but he died in his own sin. He had no sons.

You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.

και τοις υιοις ισραηλ λαλησεις λεγων ανθρωπος εαν αποθανη και υιος μη η αυτω περιθησετε την κληρονομιαν αυτου τη θυγατρι αυτου

και ανεβη ααρων ο ιερευς δια προσταγματος κυριου και απεθανεν εκει εν τω τεσσαρακοστω ετει της εξοδου των υιων ισραηλ εκ γης αιγυπτου τω μηνι τω πεμπτω μια του μηνος

The cities shall be for your refuge from the avenger, that the man slayer not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment.

και εσονται αι πολεις υμιν φυγαδευτηρια απο αγχιστευοντος το αιμα και ου μη αποθανη ο φονευων εως αν στη εναντι της συναγωγης εις κρισιν

“‘But if he struck him with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

And if he smite H5221 (HiphPerf) him with an instrument H3627 of iron, H1270 so that he die, H4191 (QalImpf) he is a murderer: H7523 (QalActPtc) the murderer H7523 (QalActPtc) shall surely H4191 (QalInf) be put to death. H4191 (HophImpf)

εαν δε εν σκευει σιδηρου παταξη αυτον και τελευτηση φονευτης εστιν θανατω θανατουσθω ο φονευτης

If he struck him with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

And if he smite H5221 (HiphPerf) him with throwing H3027 a stone,^§ H68 wherewith he may die, H4191 (QalImpf) and he die, H4191 (QalImpf) he is a murderer: H7523 (QalActPtc) the murderer H7523 (QalActPtc) shall surely H4191 (QalInf) be put to death. H4191 (HophImpf)

Numbers 35:17 Heb. with a stone of the hand

εαν δε εν λιθω εκ χειρος εν ω αποθανειται εν αυτω παταξη αυτον και αποθανη φονευτης εστιν θανατω θανατουσθω ο φονευτης

Or if he struck him with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

Or if he smite H5221 (HiphPerf) him with an hand H3027 weapon H3627 of wood, H6086 wherewith he may die, H4191 (QalImpf) and he die, H4191 (QalImpf) he is a murderer: H7523 (QalActPtc) the murderer H7523 (QalActPtc) shall surely H4191 (QalInf) be put to death. H4191 (HophImpf)

εαν δε εν σκευει ξυλινω εκ χειρος εξ ου αποθανειται εν αυτω παταξη αυτον και αποθανη φονευτης εστιν θανατω θανατουσθω ο φονευτης

The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death. When he meets him, he shall put him to death.

The revenger H1350 (QalActPtc) of blood H1818 himself shall slay H4191 (HiphImpf) the murderer: H7523 (QalActPtc) when he meeteth H6293 (QalInf) him, he H1931 shall slay H4191 (HiphImpf) him.

ο αγχιστευων το αιμα ουτος αποκτενει τον φονευσαντα οταν συναντηση αυτω ουτος αποκτενει αυτον

If he shoved him out of hatred, or hurled something at him while lying in wait, so that he died,

But if he thrust H1920 (QalImpf) him of hatred, H8135 or hurl H7993 (HiphPerf) at him by laying of wait, H6660 that he die; H4191 (QalImpf)

εαν δε δι εχθραν ωση αυτον και επιρριψη επ αυτον παν σκευος εξ ενεδρου και αποθανη

or in hostility struck him with his hand, so that he died, he who struck him shall surely be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.

or in enmity H342 smite H5221 (HiphPerf) him with his hand, H3027 that he die: H4191 (QalImpf) he that smote H5221 (HiphPtc) him shall surely H4191 (QalInf) be put to death; H4191 (HophImpf) for he is a murderer: H7523 (QalActPtc) the revenger H1350 (QalActPtc) of blood H1818 shall slay H4191 (HiphImpf) the murderer, H7523 (QalActPtc) when he meeteth H6293 (QalInf) him.

η δια μηνιν επαταξεν αυτον τη χειρι και αποθανη θανατω θανατουσθω ο παταξας φονευτης εστιν θανατω θανατουσθω ο φονευων ο αγχιστευων το αιμα αποκτενει τον φονευσαντα εν τω συναντησαι αυτω
