Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom, and their laws are different from other people’s. They don’t keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not for the king’s profit to allow them to remain.

Mordecai told him of all that had happened to him, and the exact sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the destruction of the Jews.

ο δε μαρδοχαιος υπεδειξεν αυτω το γεγονος και την επαγγελιαν ην επηγγειλατο αμαν τω βασιλει εις την γαζαν ταλαντων μυριων ινα απολεση τους ιουδαιους

Then Esther spoke to Hathach, and gave him a message to Mordecai:

Again Esther H635 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto Hatach, H2047 and gave him commandment H6680 (PielImpf) unto Mordecai; H4782

ειπεν δε εσθηρ προς αχραθαιον πορευθητι προς μαρδοχαιον και ειπον οτι

Then Mordecai asked them to return this answer to Esther: “Don’t think to yourself that you will escape in the king’s house any more than all the Jews.

Then Mordecai H4782 commanded H559 (QalImpf) to answer H7725 (HiphInf) Esther, H635 Think H1819 (PielImpf) not with thyself H5315 that thou shalt escape H4422 (NiphInf) in the king’s H4428 house, H1004 more than all the Jews. H3064

και ειπεν μαρδοχαιος προς αχραθαιον πορευθητι και ειπον αυτη εσθηρ μη ειπης σεαυτη οτι σωθηση μονη εν τη βασιλεια παρα παντας τους ιουδαιους

Then Esther asked them to answer Mordecai,

Then Esther H635 bade H559 (QalImpf) them return H7725 (HiphInf) Mordecai H4782 this answer,

και εξαπεστειλεν εσθηρ τον ηκοντα προς αυτην προς μαρδοχαιον λεγουσα

Then the king asked her, “What would you like, queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you even to the half of the kingdom.”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) the king H4428 unto her, What wilt thou, queen H4436 Esther? H635 and what is thy request? H1246 it shall be even given H5414 (NiphImpf) thee to the half H2677 of the kingdom. H4438

και ειπεν ο βασιλευς τι θελεις εσθηρ και τι σου εστιν το αξιωμα εως του ημισους της βασιλειας μου και εσται σοι

Esther said, “If it seems good to the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him.”

And Esther H635 answered, H559 (QalImpf) If it seem good H2895 (QalPerf) unto the king, H4428 let the king H4428 and Haman H2001 come H935 (QalImpf) this day H3117 unto the banquet H4960 that I have prepared H6213 (QalPerf) for him.

ειπεν δε εσθηρ ημερα μου επισημος σημερον εστιν ει ουν δοκει τω βασιλει ελθατω και αυτος και αμαν εις την δοχην ην ποιησω σημερον

Then the king said, “Bring Haman quickly, so that it may be done as Esther has said.” So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

Then the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) Cause Haman H2001 to make haste, H4116 (PielImpv) that he may do H6213 (QalInf) as Esther H635 hath said. H1697 So the king H4428 and Haman H2001 came H935 (QalImpf) to the banquet H4960 that Esther H635 had prepared. H6213 (QalPerf)

και ειπεν ο βασιλευς κατασπευσατε αμαν οπως ποιησωμεν τον λογον εσθηρ και παραγινονται αμφοτεροι εις την δοχην ην ειπεν εσθηρ

The king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, “What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request? Even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.”

And the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Esther H635 at the banquet H4960 of wine, H3196 What is thy petition? H7596 and it shall be granted H5414 (NiphImpf) thee: and what is thy request? H1246 even to the half H2677 of the kingdom H4438 it shall be performed. H6213 (NiphImpf)

εν δε τω ποτω ειπεν ο βασιλευς προς εσθηρ τι εστιν βασιλισσα εσθηρ και εσται σοι οσα αξιοις

Then Esther answered and said, “My petition and my request is this.

Then answered H6030 (QalImpf) Esther, H635 and said, H559 (QalImpf) My petition H7596 and my request H1246 is;

και ειπεν το αιτημα μου και το αξιωμα μου

Haman also said, “Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow I am also invited by her together with the king.

Haman H2001 said H559 (QalImpf) moreover, Yea, Esther H635 the queen H4436 did let no man come in H935 (HiphPerf) with the king H4428 unto the banquet H4960 that she had prepared H6213 (QalPerf) but myself; and to morrow H4279 am I invited H7121 (QalPasPtc) unto her also with the king. H4428

και ειπεν αμαν ου κεκληκεν η βασιλισσα μετα του βασιλεως ουδενα εις την δοχην αλλ η εμε και εις την αυριον κεκλημαι

Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows be made fifty cubits° high, and in the morning speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on it. Then go in merrily with the king to the banquet.” This pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.

Esther 5:14 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Zeresh H2238 his wife H802 and all his friends H157 (QalActPtc) unto him, Let a gallows^§ H6086 be made H6213 (QalImpf) of fifty H2572 cubits H520 high, H1364 and to morrow H1242 speak H559 (QalImpv) thou unto the king H4428 that Mordecai H4782 may be hanged H8518 (QalImpf) thereon: then go H935 (QalImpv) thou in merrily H8056 with the king H4428 unto the banquet. και ειπεν προς αυτον ζωσαρα η γυνη αυτου και οι φιλοι κοπητω σοι ξυλον πηχων πεντηκοντα ορθρου δε ειπον τω βασιλει και κρεμασθητω μαρδοχαιος επι του ξυλου συ δε εισελθε εις την δοχην συν τω βασιλει και ευφραινου και ηρεσεν το ρημα τω αμαν και ητοιμασθη το ξυλον

On that night, the king couldn’t sleep. He commanded the book of records of the chronicles to be brought, and they were read to the king.

Esther 6:1 Heb. the kings sleep fled away

ο δε κυριος απεστησεν τον υπνον απο του βασιλεως την νυκτα εκεινην και ειπεν τω διδασκαλω αυτου εισφερειν γραμματα μνημοσυνα των ημερων αναγινωσκειν αυτω

The king said, “What honor and dignity has been given to Mordecai for this?” Then the king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.”

And the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) What honour H3366 and dignity H1420 hath been done H6213 (NiphPerf) to Mordecai H4782 for this? Then said H559 (QalImpf) the king’s H4428 servants H5288 that ministered H8334 (PielPtc) unto him, There is nothing H1697 done H6213 (NiphPerf) for him.

ειπεν δε ο βασιλευς τινα δοξαν η χαριν εποιησαμεν τω μαρδοχαιω και ειπαν οι διακονοι του βασιλεως ουκ εποιησας αυτω ουδεν

The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had come into the outer court of the king’s house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

And the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) Who is in the court? H2691 Now Haman H2001 was come H935 (QalPerf) into the outward H2435 court H2691 of the king’s H4428 house, H1004 to speak H559 (QalInf) unto the king H4428 to hang H8518 (QalInf) Mordecai H4782 on the gallows H6086 that he had prepared H3559 (HiphPerf) for him.

εν δε τω πυνθανεσθαι τον βασιλεα περι της ευνοιας μαρδοχαιου ιδου αμαν εν τη αυλη ειπεν δε ο βασιλευς τις εν τη αυλη ο δε αμαν εισηλθεν ειπειν τω βασιλει κρεμασαι τον μαρδοχαιον επι τω ξυλω ω ητοιμασεν

The king’s servants said to him, “Behold,^§ Haman stands in the court.” The king said, “Let him come in.”

Esther 6:5 “Behold”, from “הִנֵּה”, means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection.

And the king’s H4428 servants H5288 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Behold, Haman H2001 standeth H5975 (QalActPtc) in the court. H2691 And the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) Let him come in. H935 (QalImpf)

και ειπαν οι διακονοι του βασιλεως ιδου αμαν εστηκεν εν τη αυλη και ειπεν ο βασιλευς καλεσατε αυτον

So Haman came in. The king said to him, “What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?” Now Haman said in his heart, “Who would the king delight to honor more than myself?”

So Haman H2001 came in. H935 (QalImpf) And the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, What shall be done H6213 (QalInf) unto the man H376 whom the king H4428 delighteth H2654 (QalPerf) to honour? H3366 Now Haman H2001 thought H559 (QalImpf) in his heart, H3820 To whom would the king H4428 delight H2654 (QalImpf) to do H6213 (QalInf) honour H3366 more H3148 than to myself?

ειπεν δε ο βασιλευς τω αμαν τι ποιησω τω ανθρωπω ον εγω θελω δοξασαι ειπεν δε εν εαυτω αμαν τινα θελει ο βασιλευς δοξασαι ει μη εμε

Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor,

And Haman H2001 answered H559 (QalImpf) the king, H4428 For the man H376 whom the king H4428 delighteth H2654 (QalPerf) to honour, H3366

ειπεν δε προς τον βασιλεα ανθρωπον ον ο βασιλευς θελει δοξασαι

Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry and take the clothing and the horse, as you have said, and do this for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.”

Esther 6:10 Heb. suffer not a whit to fail

ειπεν δε ο βασιλευς τω αμαν καθως ελαλησας ουτως ποιησον τω μαρδοχαιω τω ιουδαιω τω θεραπευοντι εν τη αυλη και μη παραπεσατω σου λογος ων ελαλησας

Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, but you will surely fall before him.”

And Haman H2001 told H5608 (PielImpf) Zeresh H2238 his wife H802 and all his friends H157 (QalActPtc) every thing that had befallen H7136 (QalPerf) him. και διηγησατο αμαν τα συμβεβηκοτα αυτω ζωσαρα τη γυναικι αυτου και τοις φιλοις και ειπαν προς αυτον οι φιλοι και η γυνη ει εκ γενους ιουδαιων μαρδοχαιος ηρξαι ταπεινουσθαι ενωπιον αυτου πεσων πεση ου μη δυνη αυτον αμυνασθαι οτι θεος ζων μετ αυτου
