Fields will be bought in this land, about which you say, ‘It is desolate, without man or animal. It is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’

and bought hath been the field in this land of which ye are saying, A desolation it is, without man and beast, it hath been given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

‘While men come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have killed in my anger and in my wrath, and for all whose wickedness I have hidden my face from this city,

They come H935 (QalActPtc) to fight H3898 (NiphInf) with the Chaldeans, H3778 but [it is] to fill H4390 (PielInf) them with the dead bodies H6297 of men, H120 whom I have slain H5221 (HiphPerf) in mine anger H639 and in my fury, H2534 and for all whose wickedness H7451 I have hid H5641 (HiphPerf) my face H6440 from this city. they are coming in to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the carcases of men, whom I have smitten in Mine anger, and in My fury, and for whom I have hidden My face from this city, because of all their evil:

I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against me. I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned against me and by which they have transgressed against me.

And I will cleanse H2891 (PielPerf) them from all their iniquity, H5771 whereby they have sinned H2398 (QalPerf) against me; and I will pardon H5545 (QalPerf) all their iniquities, H5771 whereby they have sinned, H2398 (QalPerf) and whereby they have transgressed H6586 (QalPerf) against me.

And cleansed them from all their iniquity, That they have sinned against Me, And I have pardoned all their iniquities, That they have sinned against Me, And that they transgressed against Me.

This city will be to me for a name of joy, for praise, and for glory, before all the nations of the earth, which will hear all the good that I do to them, and will fear and tremble for all the good and for all the peace that I provide to it.’ ”

And it shall be to me a name H8034 of joy, H8342 a praise H8416 and an honour H8597 before all the nations H1471 of the earth, H776 which shall hear H8085 (QalImpf) all the good H2896 that I do H6213 (QalActPtc) unto them: and they shall fear H6342 (QalPerf) and tremble H7264 (QalPerf) for all the goodness H2896 and for all the prosperity H7965 that I procure H6213 (QalActPtc) unto it.

And it hath been to Me for a name of joy, For praise, and for beauty, to all nations of the earth, Who hear of all the good that I am doing them, And they have feared, And they have trembled for all the good, And for all the peace, that I am doing to it.

Yahweh says: “Yet again there will be heard in this place, about which you say, ‘It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,’

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Again there shall be heard H8085 (NiphImpf) in this place, H4725 which ye say H559 (QalActPtc) [shall be] desolate H2720 without man H120 and without beast, H929 [even] in the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem, H3389 that are desolate, H8074 (NiphPtc) without man, H120 and without inhabitant, H3427 (QalActPtc) and without beast, H929

Thus said Jehovah: Again heard in this place of which ye are saying, Waste it is, without man and without beast, In cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, That are desolated, without man, And without inhabitant, and without beast,

“Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will perform that good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and concerning the house of Judah.

Behold, the days H3117 come, H935 (QalActPtc) saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 that I will perform H6965 (HiphPerf) that good H2896 thing H1697 which I have promised H1696 (PielPerf) unto the house H1004 of Israel H3478 and to the house H1004 of Judah. H3063

Lo, days are coming, an affirmation of Jehovah, And I have established the good word That I spake unto the house of Israel, And concerning the house of Judah.

In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell safely. This is the name by which she will be called: Yahweh our righteousness.”

In those days H3117 shall Judah H3063 be saved, H3467 (NiphImpf) and Jerusalem H3389 shall dwell H7931 (QalImpf) safely: H983 and this [is the name] wherewith she shall be called, H7121 (QalImpf) The Lord our righteousness. H3072

In those days is Judah saved, And Jerusalem doth dwell confidently, And this is he whom Jehovah proclaimeth to her: ‘Our Righteousness.’

“Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying, ‘Has Yahweh cast off the two families which he chose?’ Thus they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.”

Considerest H7200 (QalPerf) thou not what this people H5971 have spoken, H1696 (PielPerf) saying, H559 (QalInf) The two H8147 families H4940 which the Lord H3068 hath chosen, H977 (QalPerf) he hath even cast them off? H3988 (QalImpf) thus they have despised H5006 (QalImpf) my people, H5971 that they should be no more a nation H1471 before H6440 them.

‘Hast thou not considered what this people have spoken, saying: The two families on which Jehovah fixed, He doth reject them, And my people they despise- So that they are no more a people before them!

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:

The word H1697 which came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord, H3068 when Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and all his army, H2428 and all the kingdoms H4467 of the earth H776 of his dominion, H3027 H4475 and all the people, H5971 fought H3898 (NiphPtc) against Jerusalem, H3389 and against all the cities H5892 thereof, saying, H559 (QalInf)

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah-and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his force, and all kingdoms of the land of the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all its cities-saying:

You will die in peace; and with the burnings of your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will make a burning for you. They will lament you, saying, “Ah Lord!” for I have spoken the word,’ says Yahweh.”

[But] thou shalt die H4191 (QalImpf) in peace: H7965 and with the burnings H4955 of thy fathers, H1 the former H7223 kings H4428 which were before H6440 thee, so shall they burn H8313 (QalImpf) [odours] for thee; and they will lament H5594 (QalImpf) thee, [saying], Ah H1945 lord! in peace thou diest, and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings who have been before thee, so they make a burning for thee; and Ah, lord, they lament for thee, for the word I have spoken-an affirmation of Jehovah.’

The word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty to them,

[This is] the word H1697 that came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord, H3068 after H310 that the king H4428 Zedekiah H6667 had made H3772 (QalInf) a covenant H1285 with all the people H5971 which [were] at Jerusalem, H3389 to proclaim H7121 (QalInf) liberty H1865 unto them;

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after the making by the king Zedekiah of a covenant with all the people who are in Jerusalem, to proclaim to them liberty,

All the princes and all the people obeyed who had entered into the covenant, that everyone should let his male servant and everyone his female servant go free, that no one should make bondservants of them any more. They obeyed and let them go,

Now when all the princes, H8269 and all the people, H5971 which had entered H935 (QalPerf) into the covenant, H1285 heard H8085 (QalImpf) that every one H376 should let his manservant, H5650 and every one H376 his maidservant, H8198 go H7971 (PielInf) free, H2670 that none should serve H5647 (QalInf) themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, H8085 (QalImpf) and let [them] go. and hearken do all the heads, and all the people who have come in to the covenant to send forth each his man-servant and each his maid-servant free, so as not to lay service on them any more, yea, they hearken, and send them away;

but afterwards they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids whom they had let go free to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

But afterward H310 they turned, H7725 (QalImpf) and caused the servants H5650 and the handmaids, H8198 whom they had let go H7971 (PielPerf) free, H2670 to return, H7725 (HiphImpf) and brought them into subjection H3533 (QalImpf) (Qere) H3533 (HiphImpf) for servants H5650 and for handmaids. H8198

and they turn afterwards, and cause the men-servants and the maid-servants to return, whom they had sent forth free, and they subdue them for men-servants and for maid-servants.

At the end of seven years, every man of you shall release his brother who is a Hebrew, who has been sold to you, and has served you six years. You shall let him go free from you. But your fathers didn’t listen to me, and didn’t incline their ear.

At the end H7093 of seven H7651 years H8141 let ye go H7971 (PielImpf) every man H376 his brother H251 an Hebrew, H5680 which hath been sold H4376 (NiphImpf) unto thee; and when he hath served H5647 (QalPerf) thee six H8337 years, H8141 thou shalt let him go H7971 (PielPerf) free H2670 from thee: but your fathers H1 hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) not unto me, neither inclined H5186 (HiphPerf) their ear. At the end of seven years ye do send forth each his brother, the Hebrew, who is sold to thee, and hath served thee six years, yea, thou hast sent him forth free from thee: and your fathers hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear.

You had now turned, and had done that which is right in my eyes, in every man proclaiming liberty to his neighbor. You had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name;

And ye were now H3117 turned, H7725 (QalImpf) and had done H6213 (QalImpf) right H3477 in my sight, H5869 in proclaiming H7121 (QalInf) liberty H1865 every man H376 to his neighbour; H7453 and ye had made H3772 (QalImpf) a covenant H1285 before H6440 me in the house H1004 which is called H7121 (NiphPerf) by my name: H8034

‘And ye turn back, ye to-day, and ye do that which is right in Mine eyes, to proclaim liberty each to his neighbour, and ye make a covenant before Me in the house over which My name is called.

but you turned and profaned my name, and every man caused his servant and every man his handmaid, whom you had let go free at their pleasure, to return. You brought them into subjection, to be to you for servants and for handmaids.’ ”

But ye turned H7725 (QalImpf) and polluted H2490 (PielImpf) my name, H8034 and caused every man H376 his servant, H5650 and every man H376 his handmaid, H8198 whom ye had set H7971 (PielPerf) at liberty H2670 at their pleasure, H5315 to return, H7725 (HiphImpf) and brought them into subjection, H3533 (QalImpf) to be unto you for servants H5650 and for handmaids. H8198

And-ye turn back, and pollute My name, and ye cause each his man-servant and each his maid-servant, whom he had sent forth free, (at their pleasure,) to return, and ye subdue them to be to you for men-servants and for maid-servants.

I will give the men who have transgressed my covenant, who have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before me when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts:

And I will give H5414 (QalPerf) the men H582 that have transgressed H5674 (QalActPtc) my covenant, H1285 which have not performed H6965 (HiphPerf) the words H1697 of the covenant H1285 which they had made H3772 (QalPerf) before H6440 me, when they cut H3772 (QalPerf) the calf H5695 in twain, H8147 and passed H5674 (QalImpf) between the parts H1335 thereof,

‘And I have given the men who are transgressing My covenant, who have not established the words of the covenant that they have made before Me, by the calf, that they have cut in two, and pass through between its pieces-

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

The word H1697 which came unto Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord H3068 in the days H3117 of Jehoiakim H3079 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 saying, H559 (QalInf)

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, saying:

and I brought them into Yahweh’s house, into the room of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the room of the princes, which was above the room of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

And I brought H935 (HiphImpf) them into the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 into the chamber H3957 of the sons H1121 of Hanan, H2605 the son H1121 of Igdaliah, H3012 a man H376 of God, H430 which [was] by H681 the chamber H3957 of the princes, H8269 which [was] above H4605 the chamber H3957 of Maaseiah H4641 the son H1121 of Shallum, H7967 the keeper H8104 (QalActPtc) of the door: H5592

and bring them into the house of Jehovah, unto the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, a man of God, that is near to the chamber of the princes, that is above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum, keeper of the threshold;

You shall not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or have any; but all your days you shall dwell in tents, that you may live many days in the land in which you live as nomads.’

Neither shall ye build H1129 (QalImpf) house, H1004 nor sow H2232 (QalImpf) seed, H2233 nor plant H5193 (QalImpf) vineyard, H3754 nor have [any]: but all your days H3117 ye shall dwell H3427 (QalImpf) in tents; H168 that ye may live H2421 (QalImpf) many H7227 days H3117 in H6440 the land H127 where ye [be] strangers. and a house ye do not build, and seed ye do not sow, and a vineyard ye do not plant, nor have ye any; for in tents do ye dwell all your days, that ye may live many days on the face of the ground whither ye are sojourning.

“The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab that he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; and to this day they drink none, for they obey their father’s commandment; but I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking, and you have not listened to me.

The words H1697 of Jonadab H3082 the son H1121 of Rechab, H7394 that he commanded H6680 (PielPerf) his sons H1121 not to drink H8354 (QalInf) wine, H3196 are performed; H6965 (HophPerf) for unto this day H3117 they drink H8354 (QalPerf) none, but obey H8085 (QalPerf) their father’s H1 commandment: H4687 notwithstanding I have spoken H1696 (PielPerf) unto you, rising early H7925 (HiphInf) and speaking; H1696 (PielInf) but ye hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) not unto me.

Performed have been the words of Jonadab son of Rechab, when he commanded his sons not to drink wine, and they have not drunk unto this day, for they have obeyed the command of their father; and I-I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened unto Me.

I have sent also to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ‘Every one of you must return now from his evil way, amend your doings, and don’t go after other gods to serve them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers;’ but you have not inclined your ear, nor listened to me.

I have sent H7971 (QalImpf) also unto you all my servants H5650 the prophets, H5030 rising up early H7925 (HiphInf) and sending H7971 (QalInf) [them], saying, H559 (QalInf) Return H7725 (QalImpv) ye now every man H376 from his evil H7451 way, H1870 and amend H3190 (HiphImpv) your doings, H4611 and go H3212 (QalImpf) not after H310 other H312 gods H430 to serve H5647 (QalInf) them, and ye shall dwell in H3427 (QalImpv) the land H127 which I have given H5414 (QalPerf) to you and to your fathers: H1 but ye have not inclined H5186 (HiphPerf) your ear, H241 nor hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) unto me.

And I send unto you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying: Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and amend your doings, yea, ye do not walk after other gods, to serve them, and dwell ye on the ground that I have given to you and to your fathers; and ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto Me.

The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to me.” ’

Because the sons H1121 of Jonadab H3082 the son H1121 of Rechab H7394 have performed H6965 (HiphPerf) the commandment H4687 of their father, H1 which he commanded H6680 (PielPerf) them; but this people H5971 hath not hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) unto me:

‘Because the sons of Jonadab son of Rechab have performed the command of their father, that he commanded them, and this people have not hearkened unto Me,

Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,’

And Jeremiah H3414 said H559 (QalPerf) unto the house H1004 of the Rechabites, H7397 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Because ye have obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) the commandment H4687 of Jonadab H3082 your father, H1 and kept H8104 (QalImpf) all his precepts, H4687 and done H6213 (QalImpf) according unto all that he hath commanded H6680 (PielPerf) you:

And to the house of the Rechabites said Jeremiah: ‘Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Because that ye have hearkened unto the command of Jonadab your father, and ye observe all his commands, and do according to all that he commanded you;

“Take a scroll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.

Take H3947 (QalImpv) thee a roll H4039 of a book, H5612 and write H3789 (QalPerf) therein all the words H1697 that I have spoken H1696 (PielPerf) unto thee against Israel, H3478 and against Judah, H3063 and against all the nations, H1471 from the day H3117 I spake H1696 (PielPerf) unto thee, from the days H3117 of Josiah, H2977 even unto this day. H3117

‘Take to thee a roll of a book, and thou hast written on it all the words that I have spoken unto thee concerning Israel, and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day;

It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, that they may each return from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

It may be that the house H1004 of Judah H3063 will hear H8085 (QalImpf) all the evil H7451 which I purpose H2803 (QalActPtc) to do H6213 (QalInf) unto them; that they may return H7725 (QalImpf) every man H376 from his evil H7451 way; H1870 that I may forgive H5545 (QalPerf) their iniquity H5771 and their sin. H2403

if so be the house of Israel do hear all the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, so that they turn back each from is evil way, and I have been propitious to their iniquity, and to their sin.’

Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all Yahweh’s words, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll of a book.

Then Jeremiah H3414 called H7121 (QalImpf) Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah: H5374 and Baruch H1263 wrote H3789 (QalImpf) from the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah H3414 all the words H1697 of the Lord, H3068 which he had spoken H1696 (PielPerf) unto him, upon a roll H4039 of a book. H5612

And Jeremiah calleth Baruch son of Neriah, and Baruch writeth from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Jehovah, that He hath spoken unto him, on a roll of a book.

Therefore you go, and read from the scroll which you have written from my mouth, Yahweh’s words, in the ears of the people in Yahweh’s house on the fast day. Also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.

Therefore go H935 (QalPerf) thou, and read H7121 (QalPerf) in the roll, H4039 which thou hast written H3789 (QalPerf) from my mouth, H6310 the words H1697 of the Lord H3068 in the ears H241 of the people H5971 in the Lord’s H3068 house H1004 upon the fasting H6685 day: H3117 and also thou shalt read H7121 (QalImpf) them in the ears H241 of all Judah H3063 that come out H935 (QalActPtc) of their cities. H5892

but thou hast entered-and thou hast read in the roll that thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Jehovah, in the ears of the people, in the house of Jehovah, in the day of the fast, and also in the ears of all Judah who are coming in from their cities thou dost read them;

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.

Therefore all the princes H8269 sent H7971 (QalImpf) Jehudi H3065 the son H1121 of Nethaniah, H5418 the son H1121 of Shelemiah, H8018 the son H1121 of Cushi, H3570 unto Baruch, H1263 saying, H559 (QalInf) Take H3947 (QalImpv) in thine hand H3027 the roll H4039 wherein thou hast read H7121 (QalPerf) in the ears H241 of the people, H5971 and come. H3212 (QalImpv) So Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah H5374 took H3947 (QalImpf) the roll H4039 in his hand, H3027 and came H935 (QalImpf) unto them.

and all the heads send unto Baruch, Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, ‘The roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people take in thy hand, and come.’ And Baruch son of Neriah taketh the roll in his hand and cometh in unto them,

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, after the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

Then the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came to Jeremiah, H3414 after H310 that the king H4428 had burned H8313 (QalInf) the roll, H4039 and the words H1697 which Baruch H1263 wrote H3789 (QalPerf) at the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah, H3414 saying, H559 (QalInf)

And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah-after the king’s burning the roll, even the words that Baruch hath written from the mouth of Jeremiah-saying:

“Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.

Take H3947 (QalImpv) thee again H7725 (QalImpv) another H312 roll, H4039 and write H3789 (QalImpv) in it all the former H7223 words H1697 that were in the first H7223 roll, H4039 which Jehoiakim H3079 the king H4428 of Judah H3063 hath burned. H8313 (QalPerf)

‘Turn, take to thee another roll, and write on it all the former words that were on the first roll, that Jehoiakim king of Judah burnt,

Then Jeremiah took another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.

Then took H3947 (QalPerf) Jeremiah H3414 another H312 roll, H4039 and gave H5414 (QalImpf) it to Baruch H1263 the scribe, H5608 (QalActPtc) the son H1121 of Neriah; H5374 who wrote H3789 (QalImpf) therein from the mouth H6310 of Jeremiah H3414 all the words H1697 of the book H5612 which Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah H3063 had burned H8313 (QalPerf) in the fire: H784 and there were added H3254 (NiphPerf) besides unto them many H7227 like H1992 words. H1697

And Jeremiah hath taken another roll, and giveth it unto Baruch son of Neriah the scribe, and he writeth on it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book that Jehoiakim king of Judah hath burnt in the fire; and again there were added unto them many words like these.

Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.

And king H4428 Zedekiah H6667 the son H1121 of Josiah H2977 reigned H4427 (QalImpf) instead of Coniah H3659 the son H1121 of Jehoiakim, H3079 whom Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 made king H4427 (HiphPerf) in the land H776 of Judah. H3063

And reign doth king Zedekiah son of Josiah instead of Coniah son of Jehoiakim whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had caused to reign in the land of Judah,

But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to Yahweh’s words, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.

But neither he, nor his servants, H5650 nor the people H5971 of the land, H776 did hearken H8085 (QalPerf) unto the words H1697 of the Lord, H3068 which he spake H1696 (PielPerf) by H3027 the prophet H5030 Jeremiah. H3414

and he hath not hearkened, he, and his servants, and the people of the land, unto the words of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet.

Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land’?

Where [are] now H346 your prophets H5030 which prophesied H5012 (NiphPerf) unto you, saying, H559 (QalInf) The king H4428 of Babylon H894 shall not come H935 (QalImpf) against you, nor against this land? H776

And where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon doth not come in against you, and against this land?

Then they took Jeremiah and threw him into the dungeon of Malchijah the king’s son, that was in the court of the guard. They let down Jeremiah with cords. In the dungeon there was no water, but mire; and Jeremiah sank in the mire.

Then took H3947 (QalImpf) they Jeremiah, H3414 and cast H7993 (HiphImpf) him into the dungeon H953 of Malchiah H4441 the son H1121 of Hammelech, H4428 that [was] in the court H2691 of the prison: H4307 and they let down H7971 (PielImpf) Jeremiah H3414 with cords. H2256 And in the dungeon H953 [there was] no water, H4325 but mire: H2916 so Jeremiah H3414 sunk H2883 (QalImpf) in the mire. H2916

And they take Jeremiah, and cast him into the pit of Malchiah son of the king, that is in the court of the prison, and they send down Jeremiah with cords; and in the pit there is no water, but mire, and Jeremiah sinketh in the mire.

“My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon. He is likely to die in the place where he is, because of the famine; for there is no more bread in the city.”

‘My lord, O king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the pit, and he dieth in his place because of the famine, for there is no more bread in the city.’

So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, “As Yahweh lives, who made our souls, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”

So Zedekiah H6667 the king H4428 sware H7650 (NiphImpf) secretly H5643 unto Jeremiah, H3414 saying, H559 (QalInf) [As] the Lord H3068 liveth, H2416 that made H6213 (QalPerf) us this soul, H5315 I will not put thee to death, H4191 (HiphImpf) neither will I give H5414 (QalImpf) thee into the hand H3027 of these men H582 that seek H1245 (PielPtc) thy life. And the king Zedekiah sweareth unto Jeremiah in secret, saying, ‘Jehovah liveth, He who made for us this soul, I do not put thee to death, nor give thee unto the hand of these men who are seeking thy soul.’

Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Jews who have defected to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.”

And Zedekiah H6667 the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Jeremiah, H3414 I am afraid H1672 (QalActPtc) of the Jews H3064 that are fallen H5307 (QalPerf) to the Chaldeans, H3778 lest they deliver H5414 (QalImpf) me into their hand, H3027 and they mock H5953 (HithPerf) me.

And the king Zedekiah saith unto Jeremiah, ‘I am fearing the Jews who have fallen unto the Chaldeans, lest they give me into their hand, and they have insulted me.’

But Jeremiah said, “They won’t deliver you. Obey, I beg you, Yahweh’s voice, in that which I speak to you; so it will be well with you, and your soul will live.

But Jeremiah H3414 said, H559 (QalImpf) They shall not deliver H5414 (QalImpf) [thee]. Obey, H8085 (QalImpv) I beseech thee, the voice H6963 of the Lord, H3068 which I speak H1696 (QalActPtc) unto thee: so it shall be well H3190 (QalImpf) unto thee, and thy soul H5315 shall live. H2421 (QalImpf)

And Jeremiah saith, ‘They do not give thee up; hearken, I pray thee, to the voice of Jehovah, to that which I am speaking unto thee, and it is well for thee, and thy soul doth live.

But if you refuse to go out, this is the word that Yahweh has shown me:

But if thou refuse H3986 to go forth, H3318 (QalInf) this [is] the word H1697 that the Lord H3068 hath shewed H7200 (HiphPerf) me:

‘And if thou art refusing to go forth, this is the thing that Jehovah hath shewn me:

‘Behold, all the women who are left in the king of Judah’s house will be brought out to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women will say, “Your familiar friends have turned on you, and have prevailed over you. Your feet are sunk in the mire, they have turned away from you.”

And, behold, all the women H802 that are left H7604 (NiphPerf) in the king H4428 of Judah’s H3063 house H1004 [shall be] brought forth H3318 (HophPtc) to the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 princes, H8269 and those [women] shall say, H559 (QalActPtc) Thy friends H582 H7965 have set thee on, H5496 (HiphPerf) and have prevailed H3201 (QalPerf) against thee: thy feet H7272 are sunk H2883 (HophPerf) in the mire, H1206 [and] they are turned away H5472 (NiphPerf) back. H268

That, lo, all the women who have been left in the house of the king of Judah are brought forth unto the heads of the king of Babylon, and lo, they are saying: Persuaded thee, and prevailed against thee, Have thine allies, Sunk into mire have thy feet, They have been turned backward.

Then all the princes came to Jeremiah, and asked him; and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they stopped speaking with him, for the matter was not perceived.

Then came H935 (QalImpf) all the princes H8269 unto Jeremiah, H3414 and asked H7592 (QalImpf) him: and he told H5046 (HiphImpf) them according to all these words H1697 that the king H4428 had commanded. And all the heads come in unto Jeremiah, and ask him, and he declareth to them according to all these words that the king commanded, and they keep silent from him, for the matter was not heard;

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the rest of the people who remained in the city, the deserters also who fell away to him, and the rest of the people who remained.

Then Nebuzaradan H5018 the captain H7227 of the guard H2876 carried away captive H1540 (HiphPerf) into Babylon H894 the remnant H3499 of the people H5971 that remained H7604 (NiphPtc) in the city, H5892 and those that fell away, H5307 (QalActPtc) that fell H5307 (QalPerf) to him, with the rest H3499 of the people H5971 that remained. And the remnant of the people who are left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to him, and the remnant of the people who are left, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, removed to Babylon.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

But Nebuzaradan H5018 the captain H7227 of the guard H2876 left H7604 (HiphPerf) of the poor H1800 of the people, H5971 which had nothing, H3972 in the land H776 of Judah, H3063 and gave H5414 (QalImpf) them vineyards H3754 and fields H3010 at the same time. H3117

And of the poor people, who have nothing, hath Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, left in the land of Judah, and he giveth to them vineyards and fields on the same day.

But I will deliver you in that day,” says Yahweh; “and you will not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.

But I will deliver H5337 (HiphPerf) thee in that day, H3117 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord: H3068 and thou shalt not be given H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the men H582 of whom H6440 thou [art] afraid. H3016 (QalPtc)

And I have delivered thee in that day-an affirmation of Jehovah-and thou art not given into the hand of the men of whose face thou art afraid,

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were carried away captive to Babylon.

The word H1697 that came to Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord, H3068 after H310 that Nebuzaradan H5018 the captain H7227 of the guard H2876 had let him go H7971 (PielInf) from Ramah, H7414 when he had taken H3947 (QalInf) him being bound H631 (QalPasPtc) in chains H246 among H8432 all that were carried away captive H1546 of Jerusalem H3389 and Judah, H3063 which were carried away captive H1540 (HophPtc) unto Babylon. H894

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath sent him from Ramah, in his taking him-and he a prisoner in chains-in the midst of all the removal of Jerusalem and of Judah, who are removed to Babylon.

Now, behold, I release you today from the chains which are on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you; but if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, don’t. Behold, all the land is before you. Where it seems good and right to you to go, go there.”

And now, behold, I loose H6605 (PielPerf) thee this day H3117 from the chains H246 which [were] upon thine hand. ‘And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that are on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land is before thee, whither it be good, and whither it be right in thine eyes to go-go.’-

Now while he had not yet gone back, “Go back then,” he said, “to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go.” So the captain of the guard gave him food and a present, and let him go.

Now while he was not yet gone back, H7725 (QalImpf) [he said], Go back H7725 (QalImpv) also to Gedaliah H1436 the son H1121 of Ahikam H296 the son H1121 of Shaphan, H8227 whom the king H4428 of Babylon H894 hath made governor H6485 (HiphPerf) over the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and dwell H3427 (QalImpv) with him among H8432 the people: H5971 or go H3212 (QalImpv) wheresoever it seemeth convenient H3477 H5869 unto thee to go. and while he doth not reply-‘Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in thine eyes to go-go.’ And the chief of the executioners giveth to him for the way, and a gift, and sendeth him away,

Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, children, and of the poorest of the land, of those who were not carried away captive to Babylon,

Now when all the captains H8269 of the forces H2428 which [were] in the fields, H7704 [even] they and their men, H582 heard H8085 (QalImpf) that the king H4428 of Babylon H894 had made Gedaliah H1436 the son H1121 of Ahikam H296 governor H6485 (HiphPerf) in the land, H776 and had committed H6485 (HiphPerf) unto him men, H582 and women, H802 and children, H2945 and of the poor H1803 of the land, H776 of them that were not carried away captive H1540 (HophPerf) to Babylon; H894

And all the heads of the forces that are in the field hear, they and their men, that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land, and that he hath charged him with men, and women, and infants, and of the poor of the land, of those who have not been removed to Babylon;
