You shall not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or have any; but all your days you shall dwell in tents, that you may live many days in the land in which you live as nomads.’

^[42:19] ου μη εκλιπη ανηρ των υιων ιωναδαβ υιου ρηχαβ παρεστηκως κατα προσωπον μου πασας τας ημερας της γης

Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, “I am restricted. I can’t go into Yahweh’s house.

The king and his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, and didn’t tear their garments.

Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them.

Then Jeremiah said, “That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”

Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I declare it to you, will you not surely put me to death? If I give you counsel, you will not listen to me.”

^[45:15] και ειπεν ιερεμιας τω βασιλει εαν αναγγειλω σοι ουχι θανατω με θανατωσεις και εαν συμβουλευσω σοι ου μη ακουσης μου

Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you will go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul will live, and this city will not be burned with fire. You will live, along with your house.

^[45:17] και ειπεν αυτω ιερεμιας ουτως ειπεν κυριος εαν εξελθων εξελθης προς ηγεμονας βασιλεως βαβυλωνος και ζησεται η ψυχη σου και η πολις αυτη ου μη κατακαυθη εν πυρι και ζηση συ και η οικια σου

But if you will not go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then this city will be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they will burn it with fire, and you won’t escape out of their hand.’ ”

but if thou wilt not go forth H3318 (QalImpf) to the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 princes, H8269 then shall this city H5892 be given H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and they shall burn H8313 (QalPerf) it with fire, H784 and thou shalt not escape out H4422 (NiphImpf) of their hand. ^[45:18] και εαν μη εξελθης δοθησεται η πολις αυτη εις χειρας των χαλδαιων και καυσουσιν αυτην εν πυρι και συ ου μη σωθης

But Jeremiah said, “They won’t deliver you. Obey, I beg you, Yahweh’s voice, in that which I speak to you; so it will be well with you, and your soul will live.

But Jeremiah H3414 said, H559 (QalImpf) They shall not deliver H5414 (QalImpf) thee. Obey, H8085 (QalImpv) I beseech thee, the voice H6963 of the Lord, H3068 which I speak H1696 (QalActPtc) unto thee: so it shall be well H3190 (QalImpf) unto thee, and thy soul H5315 shall live. H2421 (QalImpf)

^[45:20] και ειπεν ιερεμιας ου μη παραδωσιν σε ακουσον τον λογον κυριου ον εγω λεγω προς σε και βελτιον εσται σοι και ζησεται η ψυχη σου

They will bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans. You won’t escape out of their hand, but will be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. You will cause this city to be burned with fire.’ ”

So they shall bring out H3318 (HiphPtc) all thy wives H802 and thy children H1121 to the Chaldeans: H3778 and thou shalt not escape out H4422 (NiphImpf) of their hand, H3027 but shalt be taken H8610 (NiphImpf) by the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon: H894 and thou shalt cause this city H5892 to be burned H8313 (QalImpf) with fire. ^[45:23] και τας γυναικας σου και τα τεκνα σου εξαξουσιν προς τους χαλδαιους και συ ου μη σωθης οτι εν χειρι βασιλεως βαβυλωνος συλλημφθηση και η πολις αυτη κατακαυθησεται

Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “Let no man know of these words, and you won’t die.

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Zedekiah H6667 unto Jeremiah, H3414 Let no man H376 know H3045 (QalImpf) of these words, H1697 and thou shalt not die. H4191 (QalImpf)

But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come to you, and tell you, ‘Declare to us now what you have said to the king; don’t hide it from us, and we will not put you to death; also tell us what the king said to you;’

But if the princes H8269 hear H8085 (QalImpf) that I have talked H1696 (PielPerf) with thee, and they come H935 (QalPerf) unto thee, and say H559 (QalPerf) unto thee, Declare H5046 (HiphImpv) unto us now what thou hast said H1696 (PielPerf) unto the king, H4428 hide H3582 (PielImpf) it not from us, and we will not put thee to death; H4191 (HiphImpf) also what the king H4428 said H1696 (PielPerf) unto thee:

^[45:25] και εαν ακουσωσιν οι αρχοντες οτι ελαλησα σοι και ελθωσιν προς σε και ειπωσιν σοι αναγγειλον ημιν τι ελαλησεν σοι ο βασιλευς μη κρυψης αφ ημων και ου μη ανελωμεν σε και τι ελαλησεν προς σε ο βασιλευς

Then all the princes came to Jeremiah, and asked him; and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they stopped speaking with him, for the matter was not perceived.

But I will deliver you in that day,” says Yahweh; “and you will not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.

For I will surely save you. You won’t fall by the sword, but you will escape with your life, because you have put your trust in me,” says Yahweh.’ ”

^[46:18] οτι σωζων σωσω σε και εν ρομφαια ου μη πεσης και εσται η ψυχη σου εις ευρεμα οτι επεποιθεις επ εμοι φησιν κυριος

and Yahweh has brought it, and done according as he spoke. Because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing has come on you.

Now the Lord H3068 hath brought H935 (HiphImpf) it, and done H6213 (QalImpf) according as he hath said: H1696 (PielPerf) because ye have sinned H2398 (QalPerf) against the Lord, H3068 and have not obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) his voice, H6963 therefore this thing H1697 is come upon you.

^[47:3] και εποιησεν κυριος οτι ημαρτετε αυτω και ουκ ηκουσατε αυτου της φωνης

Now while he had not yet gone back, “Go back then,” he said, “to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go.” So the captain of the guard gave him food and a present, and let him go.

Now while he was not yet gone back, H7725 (QalImpf) he said, Go back H7725 (QalImpv) also to Gedaliah H1436 the son H1121 of Ahikam H296 the son H1121 of Shaphan, H8227 whom the king H4428 of Babylon H894 hath made governor H6485 (HiphPerf) over the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 and dwell H3427 (QalImpv) with him among H8432 the people: H5971 or go H3212 (QalImpv) wheresoever it seemeth convenient H3477 H5869 unto thee to go. ^[47:5] ει δε μη αποτρεχε και αναστρεψον προς γοδολιαν υιον αχικαμ υιου σαφαν ον κατεστησεν βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εν γη ιουδα και οικησον μετ αυτου εν μεσω του λαου εν γη ιουδα εις απαντα τα αγαθα εν οφθαλμοις σου του πορευθηναι πορευου και εδωκεν αυτω ο αρχιμαγειρος δωρα και απεστειλεν αυτον

Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, women, children, and of the poorest of the land, of those who were not carried away captive to Babylon,

Now when all the captains H8269 of the forces H2428 which were in the fields, H7704 even they and their men, H582 heard H8085 (QalImpf) that the king H4428 of Babylon H894 had made Gedaliah H1436 the son H1121 of Ahikam H296 governor H6485 (HiphPerf) in the land, H776 and had committed H6485 (HiphPerf) unto him men, H582 and women, H802 and children, H2945 and of the poor H1803 of the land, H776 of them that were not carried away captive H1540 (HophPerf) to Babylon; H894

^[47:7] και ηκουσαν παντες οι ηγεμονες της δυναμεως της εν αγρω αυτοι και οι ανδρες αυτων οτι κατεστησεν βασιλευς βαβυλωνος τον γοδολιαν εν τη γη και παρεκατεθετο αυτω ανδρας και γυναικας αυτων ους ουκ απωκισεν εις βαβυλωνα

and said to him, “Do you know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to take your life?” But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam didn’t believe them.

and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Dost thou certainly H3045 (QalInf) know H3045 (QalImpf) that Baalis H1185 the king H4428 of the Ammonites H1121 H5983 hath sent H7971 (QalPerf) Ishmael H3458 the son H1121 of Nethaniah H5418 to slay H5221 (HiphInf) H5315 thee?^§ But Gedaliah H1436 the son H1121 of Ahikam H296 believed H539 (HiphPerf) them not.

^[47:14] και ειπαν αυτω ει γνωσει γινωσκεις οτι βελισα βασιλευς υιων αμμων απεστειλεν προς σε τον ισμαηλ παταξαι σου ψυχην και ουκ επιστευσεν αυτοις γοδολιας

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, “Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man will know it. Why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?”
