and I-have not I pity on Nineveh, the great city, in which there are more than twelve myriads of human beings, who have not known between their right hand and their left-and much cattle!’

who also eat the flesh of my people, and peel their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as meat within the cauldron.

Yahweh says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray—for those who feed their teeth, they proclaim, “Peace!” and whoever doesn’t provide for their mouths, they prepare war against him:

“In that day,” says Yahweh, “I will assemble that which is lame, and I will gather that which is driven away, and that which I have afflicted;

The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, among many peoples, like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is no one to deliver.

I will execute vengeance in anger and wrath on the nations that didn’t listen.”

I will bear the indignation of Yahweh, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my case and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light. I will see his righteousness.

“I had a vision in the night, and behold,^§ a man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in a ravine; and behind him there were red, brown, and white horses.

H6213 (QalInf) And he spake, H559 (QalImpf) saying, H559 (QalInf) These [are] the horns H7161 which have scattered H2219 (PielPerf) Judah, H3063 so that H6310 no man H376 did lift up H5375 (QalPerf) his head: H7218 but these are come H935 (QalImpf) to fray H2729 (HiphInf) them, to cast out H3034 (PielInf) the horns H7161 of the Gentiles, H1471 which lifted up H5375 (QalActPtc) [their] horn H7161 over the land H776 of Judah H3063 to scatter H2219 (PielInf) it.

And I say, ‘What are these coming in to do?’ And He speaketh, saying: ‘These are the horns that have scattered Judah, so that no one hath lifted up his head, and these come in to trouble them, to cast down the horns of the nations who are lifting up a horn against the land of Judah-to scatter it.’

The angel who talked with me came again and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.

And the angel H4397 that talked H1696 (QalActPtc) with me came again, H7725 (QalImpf) and waked H5782 (HiphImpf) me, as a man H376 that is wakened H5782 (NiphImpf) out of his sleep, H8142

And the messenger who is speaking with me doth turn back, and stir me up as one who is stirred up out of his sleep,

He said to me, “What do you see?” I said, “I have seen, and behold, a lamp stand all of gold, with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it; there are seven pipes to each of the lamps which are on the top of it;

And said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, What seest H7200 (QalActPtc) thou? And I said, H559 (QalImpf) I have looked, H7200 (QalPerf) and behold a candlestick H4501 all [of] gold, H2091 with a bowl H1531 upon the top H7218 of it, and his seven H7651 lamps H5216 thereon, and seven H7651 pipes H4166 to the seven H7651 lamps, H5216 which [are] upon the top H7218 thereof:

and he saith unto me, ‘What art thou seeing?’ And I say, ‘I have looked, and lo, a candlestick of gold-all of it, and its bowl is on its top, and its seven lamps are upon it, and twice seven pipes are to the lights that are on its top,

I asked him the second time, “What are these two olive branches, which are beside the two golden spouts that pour the golden oil out of themselves?”

And I answered H6030 (QalImpf) again, H8145 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, What [be these] two H8147 olive H2132 branches H7641 which through H3027 the two H8147 golden H2091 pipes H6804 empty H7324 (HiphPtc) the golden H2091 [oil] out of themselves?

And I answer a second time, and say unto him, ‘What are the two branches of the olive trees that, by means of the two golden pipes, are emptying out of themselves the oil?’

The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country; and the white went out after them; and the dappled went out toward the south country.”

The black H7838 horses H5483 which [are] therein go forth H3318 (QalActPtc) into the north H6828 country; H776 and the white H3836 go forth H3318 (QalPerf) after H310 them; and the grisled H1261 go forth H3318 (QalPerf) toward the south H8486 country. H776

The brown horses that are therein, are coming forth unto the land of the north; and the white have come forth unto their hinder part; and the grisled have come forth unto the land of the south;

“Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah; and come the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have come from Babylon.

Take H3947 (QalInf) of [them of] the captivity, H1473 [even] of Heldai, H2469 of Tobijah, H2900 and of Jedaiah, H3048 which are come H935 (QalPerf) from Babylon, H894 and come H935 (QalPerf) thou the same day, H3117 and go H935 (QalPerf) into the house H1004 of Josiah H2977 the son H1121 of Zephaniah; H6846

to take of the captivity (who came from Babylon) from Heldai, from Tobijah, and from Jedaiah, ‘and thou hast come in-thou, in that day, yea, thou hast come into the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah,

and to speak to the priests of the house of Yahweh of Armies and to the prophets, saying, “Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?”

[And] to speak H559 (QalInf) unto the priests H3548 which [were] in the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 and to the prophets, H5030 saying, H559 (QalInf) Should I weep H1058 (QalImpf) in the fifth H2549 month, H2320 separating H5144 (NiphInf) myself, as I have done H6213 (QalPerf) these so many years? H8141

speaking unto the priests who are at the house of Jehovah of Hosts, and unto the prophets, saying, ‘Do I weep in the fifth month-being separated-as I have done these so many years?’

Aren’t these the words which Yahweh proclaimed by the former prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’ ”

[Should ye] not [hear] the words H1697 which the Lord H3068 hath cried H7121 (QalPerf) by H3027 the former H7223 prophets, H5030 when Jerusalem H3389 was inhabited H3427 (QalActPtc) and in prosperity, H7961 and the cities H5892 thereof round about her, H5439 when [men] inhabited H3427 (QalActPtc) the south H5045 and the plain? H8219

‘Are not these the words that Jehovah proclaimed by the hand of the former prophets, in Jerusalem’s being inhabited, and in safety, and its cities round about it, and the south and the plain-abiding?’

Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law and the words which Yahweh of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of Armies.

Yea, they made H7760 (QalPerf) their hearts H3820 [as] an adamant stone, H8068 lest they should hear H8085 (QalInf) the law, H8451 and the words H1697 which the Lord H3068 of hosts H6635 hath sent H7971 (QalPerf) in his spirit H7307 by H3027 the former H7223 prophets: H5030 therefore came a great H1419 wrath H7110 from the Lord H3068 of hosts. H6635

And their heart they have made adamant, Against hearing the law, and the words, That Jehovah of Hosts sent by His Spirit, By the hand of the former prophets, And their is great wrath from Jehovah of Hosts.

“but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”

But I scattered them with a whirlwind H5590 (PielImpf) among all the nations H1471 whom they knew H3045 (QalPerf) not. Thus the land H776 was desolate H8074 (NiphPerf) after H310 them, that no man passed through H5674 (QalActPtc) nor returned: H7725 (QalActPtc) for they laid H7760 (QalImpf) the pleasant H2532 land H776 desolate. H8047

And I toss them on all the nations, That they have not known, The land hath been desolate behind them, Of any passing by and turning back, And they set a desirable land for a desolation!

Yahweh of Armies says: “Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of Armies was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts; H6635 Let your hands H3027 be strong, H2388 (QalImpf) ye that hear H8085 (QalActPtc) in these days H3117 these words H1697 by the mouth H6310 of the prophets, H5030 which [were] in the day H3117 [that] the foundation H3245 of the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 of hosts H6635 was laid, H3245 (PualPerf) that the temple H1964 might be built. H1129 (NiphInf)

Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Let your hands be strong, Ye who are hearing in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets, That in the day the house of Jehovah of Hosts Hath been founded, the temple is to be built.

These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,
