υιε ανθρωπου ειπον δη προς τον οικον τον παραπικραινοντα ουκ επιστασθε τι ην ταυτα ειπον οταν ελθη βασιλευς βαβυλωνος επι ιερουσαλημ και λημψεται τον βασιλεα αυτης και τους αρχοντας αυτης και αξει αυτους προς εαυτον εις βαβυλωνα

“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘As I live, I will surely bring on his own head my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken.

δια τουτο ειπον ταδε λεγει κυριος ζω εγω εαν μη την διαθηκην μου ην παρεβη και την ορκωμοσιαν μου ην ητιμωσεν και δωσω αυτα εις κεφαλην αυτου

“The Lord Yahweh says: ‘I will also take some of the lofty top of the cedar, and will plant it. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.

διοτι ταδε λεγει κυριος και λημψομαι εγω εκ των επιλεκτων της κεδρου εκ κορυφης καρδιας αυτων αποκνιω και καταφυτευσω εγω επ ορος υψηλον και κρεμασω αυτον

“What do you mean, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?

What mean ye, that ye use H4911 (QalActPtc) this proverb H4912 concerning the land H127 of Israel, H3478 saying, H559 (QalInf) The fathers H1 have eaten H398 (QalImpf) sour grapes, H1155 and the children’s H1121 teeth H8127 are set on edge? H6949 (QalImpf)

υιε ανθρωπου τι υμιν η παραβολη αυτη εν τοις υιοις ισραηλ λεγοντες οι πατερες εφαγον ομφακα και οι οδοντες των τεκνων εγομφιασαν

“Yet you say, ‘Why doesn’t the son bear the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he will surely live.

Yet say H559 (QalPerf) ye, Why? doth not the son H1121 bear H5375 (QalPerf) the iniquity H5771 of the father? και ερειτε τι οτι ουκ ελαβεν την αδικιαν ο υιος του πατρος αυτου οτι ο υιος δικαιοσυνην και ελεος εποιησεν παντα τα νομιμα μου συνετηρησεν και εποιησεν αυτα ζωη ζησεται

“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not equal.’ Hear now, house of Israel: Is my way not equal? Aren’t your ways unequal?

και ειπατε ου κατευθυνει η οδος κυριου ακουσατε δη πας οικος ισραηλ μη η οδος μου ου κατευθυνει ουχι η οδος υμων ου κατευθυνει

Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ House of Israel, aren’t my ways fair? Aren’t your ways unfair?

and say, ‘What was your mother? A lioness. She couched among lions, in the middle of the young lions she nourished her cubs.

Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Is it to inquire of me that you have come? As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I will not be inquired of by you.” ’

“ ‘ “But they rebelled against me and wouldn’t listen to me. They didn’t all throw away the abominations of their eyes. They also didn’t forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the middle of the land of Egypt.

και απεστησαν απ εμου και ουκ ηθελησαν εισακουσαι μου τα βδελυγματα των οφθαλμων αυτων ουκ απερριψαν και τα επιτηδευματα αιγυπτου ουκ εγκατελιπον και ειπα του εκχεαι τον θυμον μου επ αυτους του συντελεσαι την οργην μου εν αυτοις εν μεσω γης αιγυπτου

“ ‘ “But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They didn’t walk in my statutes and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he shall live in them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

και ειπα προς τον οικον του ισραηλ εν τη ερημω εν τοις προσταγμασιν μου πορευεσθε και ουκ επορευθησαν και τα δικαιωματα μου απωσαντο α ποιησει αυτα ανθρωπος και ζησεται εν αυτοις και τα σαββατα μου εβεβηλωσαν σφοδρα και ειπα του εκχεαι τον θυμον μου επ αυτους εν τη ερημω του εξαναλωσαι αυτους

I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers. Don’t observe their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.

But I said H559 (QalImpf) unto their children H1121 in the wilderness, H4057 Walk H3212 (QalImpf) ye not in the statutes H2706 of your fathers, H1 neither observe H8104 (QalImpf) their judgments, H4941 nor defile H2930 (HithImpf) yourselves with their idols: H1544

και ειπα προς τα τεκνα αυτων εν τη ερημω εν τοις νομιμοις των πατερων υμων μη πορευεσθε και τα δικαιωματα αυτων μη φυλασσεσθε και εν τοις επιτηδευμασιν αυτων μη συναναμισγεσθε και μη μιαινεσθε

“ ‘ “But the children rebelled against me. They didn’t walk in my statutes, and didn’t keep my ordinances to do them, which if a man does, he shall live in them. They profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

και παρεπικραναν με και τα τεκνα αυτων εν τοις προσταγμασιν μου ουκ επορευθησαν και τα δικαιωματα μου ουκ εφυλαξαντο του ποιειν αυτα α ποιησει ανθρωπος και ζησεται εν αυτοις και τα σαββατα μου εβεβηλουν και ειπα του εκχεαι τον θυμον μου επ αυτους εν τη ερημω του συντελεσαι την οργην μου επ αυτους

“Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Moreover, in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

Therefore, son H1121 of man, H120 speak H1696 (PielImpv) unto the house H1004 of Israel, H3478 and say H559 (QalPerf) unto them, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Yet in this your fathers H1 have blasphemed H1442 (PielPerf) me, in that they have committed H4603 (QalInf) a trespass^§ H4604 against me.

Ezekiel 20:27 Heb. trespassed a trespass

δια τουτο λαλησον προς τον οικον του ισραηλ υιε ανθρωπου και ερεις προς αυτους ταδε λεγει κυριος εως τουτου παρωργισαν με οι πατερες υμων εν τοις παραπτωμασιν αυτων εν οις παρεπεσον εις εμε

Then I said to them, ‘What does the high place where you go mean?’ So its name is called Bamah° to this day.” ’

Ezekiel 20:29 “Bamah” means “High Place”.

“Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? Do you play the prostitute after their abominations?

“ ‘ “That which comes into your mind will not be at all, in that you say, ‘We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.’

“ ‘As for you, house of Israel, the Lord Yahweh says: “Go, everyone serve his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me; but you shall no more profane my holy name with your gifts and with your idols.

As for you, O house H1004 of Israel, H3478 thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Go H3212 (QalImpv) ye, serve H5647 (QalImpv) ye every one H376 his idols, H1544 and hereafter H310 also, if ye will not hearken H8085 (QalActPtc) unto me: but pollute H2490 (PielImpf) ye my holy H6944 name H8034 no more with your gifts, H4979 and with your idols. και υμεις οικος ισραηλ ταδε λεγει κυριος κυριος εκαστος τα επιτηδευματα αυτου εξαρατε και μετα ταυτα ει μη υμεις εισακουετε μου και το ονομα μου το αγιον ου βεβηλωσετε ουκετι εν τοις δωροις υμων και εν τοις επιτηδευμασιν υμων

Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

Moreover the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came unto me, saying, H559 (QalInf)

^[21:1] και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

Tell the forest of the south, ‘Hear Yahweh’s word: The Lord Yahweh says, “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it will devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree. The burning flame will not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north will be burned by it.

and say H559 (QalPerf) to the forest H3293 of the south, H5045 Hear H8085 (QalImpv) the word H1697 of the Lord; H3068 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Behold, I will kindle H3341 (HiphPtc) a fire H784 in thee, and it shall devour H398 (QalPerf) every green H3892 tree H6086 in thee, and every dry H3002 tree: H6086 the flaming H3852 flame H7957 shall not be quenched, H3518 (QalImpf) and all faces H6440 from the south H5045 to the north H6828 shall be burned H6866 (NiphPerf) therein.

^[21:3] και ερεις τω δρυμω ναγεβ ακουε λογον κυριου ταδε λεγει κυριος κυριος ιδου εγω αναπτω εν σοι πυρ και καταφαγεται εν σοι παν ξυλον χλωρον και παν ξυλον ξηρον ου σβεσθησεται η φλοξ η εξαφθεισα και κατακαυθησεται εν αυτη παν προσωπον απο απηλιωτου εως βορρα

Then I said, “Ah Lord Yahweh! They say of me, ‘Isn’t he a speaker of parables?’ ”

Tell the land of Israel, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I am against you, and will draw my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.

and say H559 (QalPerf) to the land H127 of Israel, H3478 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth H3318 (HiphPerf) my sword H2719 out of his sheath, H8593 and will cut off H3772 (HiphPerf) from thee the righteous H6662 and the wicked. H7563

^[21:8] και ερεις προς την γην του ισραηλ ιδου εγω προς σε και εκσπασω το εγχειριδιον μου εκ του κολεου αυτου και εξολεθρευσω εκ σου αδικον και ανομον

It shall be, when they ask you, ‘Why do you sigh?’ that you shall say, ‘Because of the news, for it comes! Every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord Yahweh.’ ”

And it shall be, when they say H559 (QalImpf) unto thee, Wherefore sighest H584 (NiphPtc) thou? that thou shalt answer, H559 (QalPerf) For the tidings; H8052 because it cometh: H935 (QalActPtc) and every heart H3820 shall melt, H4549 (NiphPerf) and all hands H3027 shall be feeble, H7503 (QalPerf) and every spirit H7307 shall faint, H3543 (PielPerf) and all knees H1290 shall be weak H3212 (QalImpf) as water:^§ H4325 behold, it cometh, H935 (QalActPtc) and shall be brought to pass, H1961 (NiphPerf) saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord H136 God. Ezekiel 21:7 Heb. shall go into water

“Son of man, prophesy, and say, ‘Yahweh says: “A sword! A sword! It is sharpened, and also polished.

Son H1121 of man, H120 prophesy, H5012 (NiphImpv) and say, H559 (QalPerf) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Say, H559 (QalImpv) A sword, H2719 a sword H2719 is sharpened, H2300 (HophPerf) and also furbished: H4803 (QalPasPtc)

^[21:14] υιε ανθρωπου προφητευσον και ερεις ταδε λεγει κυριος ειπον ρομφαια ρομφαια οξυνου και θυμωθητι

“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you have caused your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because you have come to memory, you will be taken with the hand.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Because ye have made your iniquity H5771 to be remembered, H2142 (HiphInf) in that your transgressions H6588 are discovered, H1540 (NiphInf) so that in all your doings H5949 your sins H2403 do appear; H7200 (NiphInf) because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, H2142 (NiphInf) ye shall be taken H8610 (NiphImpf) with the hand. ^[21:29] δια τουτο ταδε λεγει κυριος ανθ ων ανεμνησατε τας αδικιας υμων εν τω αποκαλυφθηναι τας ασεβειας υμων του οραθηναι αμαρτιας υμων εν πασαις ταις ασεβειαις υμων και εν τοις επιτηδευμασιν υμων ανθ ων ανεμνησατε εν τουτοις αλωσεσθε

the Lord Yahweh says: “Remove the turban, and take off the crown. This will not be as it was. Exalt that which is low, and humble that which is high.

“You, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says this concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach: “A sword! A sword is drawn! It is polished for the slaughter, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

^[21:33] και συ υιε ανθρωπου προφητευσον και ερεις ταδε λεγει κυριος προς τους υιους αμμων και προς τον ονειδισμον αυτων και ερεις ρομφαια ρομφαια εσπασμενη εις σφαγια και εσπασμενη εις συντελειαν εγειρου οπως στιλβης

Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

Moreover the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came unto me, saying, H559 (QalInf)

και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

You shall say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “A city that sheds blood within herself, that her time may come, and that makes idols against herself to defile her!

Then say H559 (QalPerf) thou, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God, H3069 The city H5892 sheddeth H8210 (QalActPtc) blood H1818 in the midst H8432 of it, that her time H6256 may come, H935 (QalInf) and maketh H6213 (QalPerf) idols H1544 against herself to defile H2930 (QalInf) herself.

και ερεις ταδε λεγει κυριος κυριος ω πολις εκχεουσα αιματα εν μεσω αυτης του ελθειν καιρον αυτης και ποιουσα ενθυμηματα καθ αυτης του μιαινειν αυτην

Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

And the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came unto me, saying, H559 (QalInf)

και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore, behold, I will gather you into the middle of Jerusalem.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Because ye are all become dross, H5509 behold, therefore I will gather H6908 (QalActPtc) you into the midst H8432 of Jerusalem. H3389

δια τουτο ειπον ταδε λεγει κυριος ανθ ων εγενεσθε παντες εις συγκρασιν μιαν δια τουτο εγω εισδεχομαι υμας εις μεσον ιερουσαλημ

Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

And the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came unto me, saying, H559 (QalInf)

και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

“Son of man, tell her, ‘You are a land that is not cleansed nor rained on in the day of indignation.’

Son H1121 of man, H120 say H559 (QalImpv) unto her, Thou art the land H776 that is not cleansed, H2891 (PualPtc) nor rained H1656 upon in the day H3117 of indignation. H2195

υιε ανθρωπου ειπον αυτη συ ει γη η ου βρεχομενη ουδε υετος εγενετο επι σε εν ημερα οργης

Her prophets have plastered for them with whitewash, seeing false visions, and divining lies to them, saying, ‘The Lord Yahweh says,’ when Yahweh has not spoken.

And her prophets H5030 have daubed H2902 (QalPerf) them with untempered H8602 morter, seeing H2374 vanity, H7723 and divining H7080 (QalActPtc) lies H3577 unto them, saying, H559 (QalActPtc) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God, H3069 when the Lord H3068 hath not spoken. H1696 (PielPerf)

και οι προφηται αυτης αλειφοντες αυτους πεσουνται ορωντες ματαια μαντευομενοι ψευδη λεγοντες ταδε λεγει κυριος και κυριος ου λελαληκεν

Yahweh’s word came again to me, saying,

The word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came again unto me, saying, H559 (QalInf)

και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς με λεγων

“Therefore, Oholibah, the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I will raise up your lovers against you, from whom your soul is alienated, and I will bring them against you on every side:

Therefore, O Aholibah, H172 thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Behold, I will raise up H5782 (HiphPtc) thy lovers H157 (PielPtc) against thee, from whom thy mind H5315 is alienated, H5361 (QalPerf) and I will bring H935 (HiphPerf) them against thee on every side; H5439

δια τουτο οολιβα ταδε λεγει κυριος ιδου εγω εξεγειρω τους εραστας σου επι σε αφ ων απεστη η ψυχη σου απ αυτων και επαξω αυτους επι σε κυκλοθεν

“For the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I will deliver you into the hand of them whom you hate, into the hand of them from whom your soul is alienated.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Behold, I will deliver H5414 (QalActPtc) thee into the hand H3027 of them whom thou hatest, H8130 (QalPerf) into the hand H3027 of them from whom thy mind H5315 is alienated: H5361 (QalPerf)

διοτι ταδε λεγει κυριος κυριος ιδου εγω παραδιδωμι σε εις χειρας ων μισεις αφ ων απεστη η ψυχη σου απ αυτων

“The Lord Yahweh says: ‘You will drink of your sister’s cup, which is deep and large. You will be ridiculed and held in derision. It contains much.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Thou shalt drink H8354 (QalImpf) of thy sister’s H269 cup H3563 deep H6013 and large: H7342 thou shalt be laughed to scorn H6712 and had in derision; H3933 it containeth H3557 (HiphInf) much. H4767

ταδε λεγει κυριος το ποτηριον της αδελφης σου πιεσαι το βαθυ και το πλατυ το πλεοναζον του συντελεσαι

“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, therefore you also bear your lewdness and your prostitution.’ ”

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Because thou hast forgotten H7911 (QalPerf) me, and cast H7993 (HiphImpf) me behind H310 thy back, H1458 therefore bear H5375 (QalImpv) thou also thy lewdness H2154 and thy whoredoms. H8457

δια τουτο ταδε λεγει κυριος ανθ ων επελαθου μου και απερριψας με οπισω του σωματος σου και συ λαβε την ασεβειαν σου και την πορνειαν σου

Yahweh said moreover to me: “Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.

The Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) moreover unto me; Son H1121 of man, H120 wilt thou judge^§ H8199 (QalImpf) Aholah H170 and Aholibah? H172 yea, declare H5046 (HiphImpv) unto them their abominations; H8441

Ezekiel 23:36 Or, plead for

και ειπεν κυριος προς με υιε ανθρωπου ου κρινεις την οολαν και την οολιβαν και απαγγελεις αυταις τας ανομιας αυτων

Then I said of her who was old in adulteries, ‘Now they will play the prostitute with her, and she with them.’

Then said H559 (QalImpf) I unto her that was old H1087 in adulteries, H5004 Will they now commit H2181 (QalImpf) whoredoms H8457 with her,^§ and she with them?

Ezekiel 23:43 Heb. Her whoredoms

και ειπα ουκ εν τουτοις μοιχευουσιν και εργα πορνης και αυτη εξεπορνευσεν

“For the Lord Yahweh says: ‘I will bring up a mob against them, and will give them to be tossed back and forth and robbed.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 I will bring up H5927 (HiphInf) a company H6951 upon them, and will give H5414 (QalInf) them to be removed H2189 and spoiled.^§ H957
