Ezekiel 18 (WEBP)
[1] Yahweh’s word came to me again, saying,
[2] “What do you mean, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?
[3] “As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “you shall not use this proverb any more in Israel.
[4] Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine. The soul who sins, he shall die.
[5] “But if a man is just, and does that which is lawful and right,
[6] and has not eaten on the mountains, hasn’t lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hasn’t defiled his neighbor’s wife, hasn’t come near a woman in her impurity,
[7] and has not wronged any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has taken nothing by robbery, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;
[8] he who hasn’t lent to them with interest, hasn’t taken any increase from them, who has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice between man and man,
[9] has walked in my statutes, and has kept my ordinances, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live,” says the Lord Yahweh.
[10] “If he fathers a son who is a robber who sheds blood, and who does any one of these things,
[11] or who does not do any of those things but has eaten at the mountain shrines and defiled his neighbor’s wife,
[12] has wronged the poor and needy, has taken by robbery, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,
[13] has lent with interest, and has taken increase from the poor,
[14] “Now, behold, if he fathers a son who sees all his father’s sins which he has done, and fears, and doesn’t do likewise,
[15] who hasn’t eaten on the mountains, hasn’t lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hasn’t defiled his neighbor’s wife,
[16] hasn’t wronged any, hasn’t taken anything to pledge, hasn’t taken by robbery, but has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;
[17] who has withdrawn his hand from the poor, who hasn’t received interest or increase, has executed my ordinances, has walked in my statutes;
[18] As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother, and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he will die in his iniquity.
[19] “Yet you say, ‘Why doesn’t the son bear the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he will surely live.
[20] The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.
[21] “But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die.
[22] None of his transgressions that he has committed will be remembered against him. In his righteousness that he has done, he shall live.
[23] Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” says the Lord Yahweh, “and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?
[24] “But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.
[25] “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not equal.’ Hear now, house of Israel: Is my way not equal? Aren’t your ways unequal?
[26] When the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in it, then he dies in his iniquity that he has done.
[27] Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive.
[28] Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live. He shall not die.
[29] Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ House of Israel, aren’t my ways fair? Aren’t your ways unfair?
[30] “Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, everyone according to his ways,” says the Lord Yahweh. “Return, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin.
[31] Cast away from you all your transgressions in which you have transgressed; and make yourself a new heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, house of Israel?
[32] For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies,” says the Lord Yahweh. “Therefore turn yourselves, and live!

Ezekiel 18 (KJVS)
[1] The word H1697 of the LORD H3068 came unto me again, saying H559 (8800),
[2] What mean ye, that ye use H4911 (8802) this proverb H4912 concerning the land H127 of Israel H3478, saying H559 (8800), The fathers H1 have eaten H398 (8799) sour grapes H1155, and the children’s H1121 teeth H8127 are set on edge H6949 (8799)?
[3] [As] I live H2416, saith H5002 (8803) the Lord H136 GOD H3069, ye shall not have [occasion] any more to use H4911 (8800) this proverb H4912 in Israel H3478.
[4] Behold, all souls H5315 are mine; as the soul H5315 of the father H1, so also the soul H5315 of the son H1121 is mine: the soul H5315 that sinneth H2398 (8802), it shall die H4191 (8799).
[5] But if a man H376 be just H6662, and do H6213 (8804) that which is lawful H4941 and right H6666,
[6] [And] hath not eaten H398 (8804) upon the mountains H2022, neither hath lifted up H5375 (8804) his eyes H5869 to the idols H1544 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478, neither hath defiled H2930 (8765) his neighbour’s H7453 wife H802, neither hath come near H7126 (8799) to a menstruous H5079 woman H802,
[7] And hath not oppressed H3238 (8686) any H376, [but] hath restored H7725 (8686) to the debtor H2326 his pledge H2258, hath spoiled H1497 (8799) none by violence H1500, hath given H5414 (8799) his bread H3899 to the hungry H7457, and hath covered H3680 (8762) the naked H5903 with a garment H899;
[8] He [that] hath not given forth H5414 (8799) upon usury H5392, neither hath taken H3947 (8799) any increase H8636, [that] hath withdrawn H7725 (8686) his hand H3027 from iniquity H5766, hath executed H6213 (8799) true H571 judgment H4941 between man H376 and man H376,
[9] Hath walked H1980 (8762) in my statutes H2708, and hath kept H8104 (8804) my judgments H4941, to deal H6213 (8800) truly H571; he [is] just H6662, he shall surely H2421 (8800) live H2421 (8799), saith H5002 (8803) the Lord H136 GOD H3069.
[10] If he beget H3205 (8689) a son H1121 [that is] a robber H6530, a shedder H8210 (8802) of blood H1818, and [that] doeth H6213 (8804) the like H251 to [any] one H259 of these [things],
[11] And that doeth H6213 (8804) not any of those [duties], but even hath eaten H398 (8804) upon the mountains H2022, and defiled H2930 (8765) his neighbour’s H7453 wife H802,
[12] Hath oppressed H3238 (8689) the poor H6041 and needy H34, hath spoiled H1497 (8804) by violence H1500, hath not restored H7725 (8686) the pledge H2258, and hath lifted up H5375 (8804) his eyes H5869 to the idols H1544, hath committed H6213 (8804) abomination H8441,
[13] Hath given forth H5414 (8804) upon usury H5392, and hath taken H3947 (8804) increase H8636: shall he then live H2425 (8804)? he shall not live H2421 (8799): he hath done H6213 (8804) all these abominations H8441; he shall surely H4191 (8800) die H4191 (8714); his blood H1818 shall be upon him.
[14] Now, lo, [if] he beget H3205 (8689) a son H1121, that seeth H7200 (8799) all his father’s H1 sins H2403 which he hath done H6213 (8804), and considereth H7200 (8799), and doeth H6213 (8799) not such like H2004,
[15] [That] hath not eaten H398 (8804) upon the mountains H2022, neither hath lifted up H5375 (8804) his eyes H5869 to the idols H1544 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478, hath not defiled H2930 (8765) his neighbour’s H7453 wife H802,
[16] Neither hath oppressed H3238 (8689) any H376, hath not withholden H2254 (8804) the pledge H2258, neither hath spoiled H1497 (8804) by violence H1500, [but] hath given H5414 (8804) his bread H3899 to the hungry H7457, and hath covered H3680 (8765) the naked H5903 with a garment H899,
[17] [That] hath taken off H7725 (8689) his hand H3027 from the poor H6041, [that] hath not received H3947 (8804) usury H5392 nor increase H8636, hath executed H6213 (8804) my judgments H4941, hath walked H1980 (8804) in my statutes H2708; he shall not die H4191 (8799) for the iniquity H5771 of his father H1, he shall surely H2421 (8800) live H2421 (8799).
[18] [As for] his father H1, because he cruelly H6233 oppressed H6231 (8804), spoiled H1497 (8804) his brother H251 by violence H1499, and did H6213 (8804) [that] which [is] not good H2896 among H8432 his people H5971, lo, even he shall die H4191 (8801) in his iniquity H5771.
[19] Yet say H559 (8804) ye, Why? doth not the son H1121 bear H5375 (8804) the iniquity H5771 of the father H1? When the son H1121 hath done H6213 (8804) that which is lawful H4941 and right H6666, [and] hath kept H8104 (8804) all my statutes H2708, and hath done H6213 (8799) them, he shall surely H2421 (8800) live H2421 (8799).
[20] The soul H5315 that sinneth H2398 (8802), it shall die H4191 (8799). The son H1121 shall not bear H5375 (8799) the iniquity H5771 of the father H1, neither shall the father H1 bear H5375 (8799) the iniquity H5771 of the son H1121: the righteousness H6666 of the righteous H6662 shall be upon him, and the wickedness H7564 of the wicked H7563 shall be upon him.
[21] But if the wicked H7563 will turn H7725 (8799) from all his sins H2403 that he hath committed H6213 (8804), and keep H8104 (8804) all my statutes H2708, and do H6213 (8804) that which is lawful H4941 and right H6666, he shall surely H2421 (8800) live H2421 (8799), he shall not die H4191 (8799).
[22] All his transgressions H6588 that he hath committed H6213 (8804), they shall not be mentioned H2142 (8735) unto him: in his righteousness H6666 that he hath done H6213 (8804) he shall live H2421 (8799).
[23] Have I any pleasure H2654 (8799) at all H2654 (8800) that the wicked H7563 should die H4194? saith H5002 (8803) the Lord H136 GOD H3069: [and] not that he should return H7725 (8800) from his ways H1870, and live H2421 (8804)?
[24] But when the righteous H6662 turneth away H7725 (8800) from his righteousness H6666, and committeth H6213 (8804) iniquity H5766, [and] doeth H6213 (8799) according to all the abominations H8441 that the wicked H7563 [man] doeth H6213 (8804), shall he live H2425 (8804)? All his righteousness H6666 that he hath done H6213 (8804) shall not be mentioned H2142 (8735): in his trespass H4603 (8804) that he hath trespassed H4604, and in his sin H2403 that he hath sinned H2398 (8804), in them shall he die H4191 (8799).
[25] Yet ye say H559 (8804), The way H1870 of the Lord H136 is not equal H8505 (8735). Hear H8085 (8798) now, O house H1004 of Israel H3478; Is not my way H1870 equal H8505 (8735)? are not your ways H1870 unequal H8505 (8735)?
[26] When a righteous H6662 [man] turneth away H7725 (8800) from his righteousness H6666, and committeth H6213 (8804) iniquity H5766, and dieth H4191 (8804) in them; for his iniquity H5766 that he hath done H6213 (8804) shall he die H4191 (8799).
[27] Again, when the wicked H7563 [man] turneth away H7725 (8800) from his wickedness H7564 that he hath committed H6213 (8804), and doeth H6213 (8799) that which is lawful H4941 and right H6666, he shall save H2421 his soul H5315 alive H2421 (8762).
[28] Because he considereth H7200 (8799), and turneth away H7725 (8799) from all his transgressions H6588 that he hath committed H6213 (8804), he shall surely H2421 (8800) live H2421 (8799), he shall not die H4191 (8799).
[29] Yet saith H559 (8804) the house H1004 of Israel H3478, The way H1870 of the Lord H136 is not equal H8505 (8735). O house H1004 of Israel H3478, are not my ways H1870 equal H8505 (8735)? are not your ways H1870 unequal H8505 (8735)?
[30] Therefore I will judge H8199 (8799) you, O house H1004 of Israel H3478, every one H376 according to his ways H1870, saith H5002 (8803) the Lord H136 GOD H3069. Repent H7725 (8798), and turn H7725 (8685) [yourselves] from all your transgressions H6588; so iniquity H5771 shall not be your ruin H4383.
[31] Cast away H7993 (8685) from you all your transgressions H6588, whereby ye have transgressed H6586 (8804); and make H6213 (8798) you a new H2319 heart H3820 and a new H2319 spirit H7307: for why will ye die H4191 (8799), O house H1004 of Israel H3478?
[32] For I have no pleasure H2654 (8799) in the death H4194 of him that dieth H4191 (8801), saith H5002 (8803) the Lord H136 GOD H3069: wherefore turn H7725 (8685) [yourselves], and live H2421 (8798) ye.
Young’s Literal Translation
Ezekiel 18 (YLT)
[1] ‘And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying:
[2] ‘What-to you, ye-using this simile Concerning the ground of Israel, saying: Fathers do eat unripe fruit, And the sons’ teeth are blunted?
[3] I live-an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Ye have no more the use of this simile in Israel.
[4] Lo, all the souls are Mine, As the soul of the father, So also the soul of the son-they are Mine, The soul that is sinning-it doth die.
[5] And a man, when he is righteous, And hath done judgment and righteousness,
[6] On the mountains he hath not eaten, And his eyes he hath not lifted up Unto idols of the house of Israel, And the wife of his neighbour defiled not, And to a separated woman cometh not near,
[7] A man-he doth not oppress, His pledge to the debtor he doth return, Plunder he doth not take away, His bread to the hungry he doth give, And the naked doth cover with a garment,
[8] In usury he doth not give, and increase taketh not, From perversity he turneth back his hand, True judgment he doth between man and man.
[9] In My statutes he doth walk, And My judgments he hath kept-to deal truly, Righteous is he, he surely liveth, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.
[10] And-he hath begotten a son, A burglar-a shedder of blood, And he hath made a brother of one of these,
[11] And he all those hath not done, For even on the mountains he hath eaten, And the wife of his neighbour he hath defiled,
[12] The afflicted and needy he hath oppressed, Plunder he hath taken violently away, A pledge he doth not return, And unto the idols he hath lifted up his eyes, Abomination he hath done!
[13] In usury he hath given, and increase taken, And he liveth: he doth not live, All these abominations he hath done, He doth surely die, his blood is on him.
[14] And-lo, he hath begotten a son, And he seeth all the sins of his father, That he hath done, and he feareth, And doth not do like them,
[15] On the mountains he hath not eaten, And his eyes he hath not lifted up Unto idols of the house of Israel, The wife of his neighbour he hath not defiled,
[16] A man-he hath not oppressed, A pledge he hath not bound, And plunder he hath not taken away, His bread to the hungry he hath given, And the naked he covered with a garment,
[17] From the afflicted he hath turned back his hand, Usury and increase he hath not taken, My judgments he hath done, In My statutes he hath walked, He doth not die for the iniquity of his father, He doth surely live.
[18] His father-because he used oppression, Did violently Plunder a brother, And that which is not good did in the midst of his people, And lo, he is dying in his iniquity.
[19] And ye have said, Wherefore hath not the son, Borne of the iniquity of the father? And-the son judgment and righteousness hath done, All My statutes he hath kept, And he doeth them, he surely liveth.
[20] The soul that doth sin-it doth die. A son doth not bear of the iniquity of the father, And a father doth not bear of the iniquity of the son, The righteousness of the righteous is on him, And the wickedness of the wicked is on him.
[21] And the wicked-when he turneth back From all his sins that he hath done, And he hath kept all My statutes, And hath done judgment and righteousness, He doth surely live, he doth not die.
[22] All his transgressions that he hath done Are not remembered to him, In his righteousness that he hath done he liveth.
[23] Do I at all desire the death of the wicked? An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Is it not in his turning back from his way- And he hath lived?
[24] And in the turning back of the righteous from his righteousness, And he hath done perversity, According to all the abominations That the wicked hath done, he doth-thus he liveth, All his righteousnesses that he hath done are not remembered, For his trespass that he hath trespassed, And for his sin that he hath sinned, For them he doth die.
[25] And ye have said, Not pondered is the way of the Lord. Hear, I pray you, O house of Israel, My way-is it not pondered? Are not your ways unpondered?
[26] In the turning back of the righteous from his righteousness, And he hath done perversity, And he is dying by them, for his perversity That he hath done he dieth.
[27] And in the turning back of the wicked From his wickedness that he hath done, And he doth judgment and righteousness, He his soul doth keep alive.
[28] And he seeth and turneth back, From all his transgressions that he hath done, He doth surely live, he doth not die,
[29] And the house of Israel have said, Not pondered is the way of the Lord, My ways-are they not pondered? O house of Israel-are not your ways unpondered?
[30] Therefore, each according to his ways I judge you, O house of Israel? An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Turn ye back, yea, turn yourselves back, From all your transgressions, And iniquity is not to you for a stumbling-block,
[31] Cast from off you all your transgressions, By which ye have transgressed, And make to you a new heart, and a new spirit, And why do ye die, O house of Israel?
[32] For I have no pleasure in the death of the dying, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And turn ye back and live!
