When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly, because a man had come to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.

και ηκουσεν σαναβαλλατ ο αρωνι και τωβια ο δουλος ο αμμωνι και πονηρον αυτοις εγενετο οτι ηκει ανθρωπος ζητησαι αγαθον τοις υιοις ισραηλ

But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite servant, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they ridiculed us and despised us, and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? Will you rebel against the king?”

But when Sanballat H5571 the Horonite, H2772 and Tobiah H2900 the servant, H5650 the Ammonite, H5984 and Geshem H1654 the Arabian, H6163 heard H8085 (QalImpf) [it], they laughed us to scorn, H3932 (HiphImpf) and despised H959 (QalImpf) us, and said, H559 (QalImpf) What [is] this thing H1697 that ye do? και ηκουσεν σαναβαλλατ ο αρωνι και τωβια ο δουλος ο αμμωνι και γησαμ ο αραβι και εξεγελασαν ημας και ηλθον εφ ημας και ειπαν τι το ρημα τουτο ο υμεις ποιειτε η επι τον βασιλεα υμεις αποστατειτε

Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, “What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall.”

^[3:35] και τωβιας ο αμμανιτης εχομενα αυτου ηλθεν και ειπαν προς εαυτους μη θυσιασουσιν η φαγονται επι του τοπου αυτων ουχι αναβησεται αλωπηξ και καθελει το τειχος λιθων αυτων

But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, they were very angry;

But it came to pass, [that] when Sanballat, H5571 and Tobiah, H2900 and the Arabians, H6163 and the Ammonites, H5984 and the Ashdodites, H796 heard H8085 (QalPerf) that the walls H2346 of Jerusalem H3389 were made up, H724 H5927 (QalPerf) [and] that the breaches H6555 (QalPasPtc) began H2490 (HiphPerf) to be stopped, H5640 (NiphInf) then they were very H3966 wroth, H2734 (QalImpf)

^[4:1] και εγενετο ως ηκουσεν σαναβαλλατ και τωβια και οι αραβες και οι αμμανιται οτι ανεβη φυη τοις τειχεσιν ιερουσαλημ οτι ηρξαντο αι διασφαγαι αναφρασσεσθαι και πονηρον αυτοις εφανη σφοδρα

Now when it was reported to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arabian, and to the rest of our enemies that I had built the wall, and that there was no breach left in it (though even to that time I had not set up the doors in the gates),

Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, H5571 and Tobiah, H2900 and Geshem H1654 the Arabian, H6163 and the rest H3499 of our enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) heard H8085 (NiphPerf) that I had builded H1129 (QalPerf) the wall, H2346 and [that] there was no breach H6556 left H3498 (NiphPerf) therein; (though H1571 H5704 at that time H6256 I had not set up H5975 (HiphPerf) the doors H1817 upon the gates; H8179)

και εγενετο καθως ηκουσθη τω σαναβαλλατ και τωβια και τω γησαμ τω αραβι και τοις καταλοιποις των εχθρων ημων οτι ωκοδομησα το τειχος και ου κατελειφθη εν αυτοις πνοη εως του καιρου εκεινου θυρας ουκ επεστησα εν ταις πυλαις

I discerned, and behold, God had not sent him, but he pronounced this prophecy against me. Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

And, lo, I perceived H5234 (HiphImpf) that God H430 had not sent H7971 (QalPerf) him; but that he pronounced H1696 (PielPerf) this prophecy H5016 against me: for Tobiah H2900 and Sanballat H5571 had hired H7936 (QalPerf) him.

και επεγνων και ιδου ο θεος ουκ απεστειλεν αυτον οτι η προφητεια λογος κατ εμου και τωβιας και σαναβαλλατ εμισθωσαντο

“Remember, my God, Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and also the prophetess Noadiah and the rest of the prophets that would have put me in fear.”

My God, H430 think H2142 (QalImpv) thou upon Tobiah H2900 and Sanballat H5571 according to these their works, H4639 and on the prophetess H5031 Noadiah, H5129 and the rest H3499 of the prophets, H5030 that would have put me in fear. H3372 (PielPtc)

μνησθητι ο θεος τω τωβια και τω σαναβαλλατ ως τα ποιηματα αυτου ταυτα και τω νωαδια τω προφητη και τοις καταλοιποις των προφητων οι ησαν φοβεριζοντες με

Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and Tobiah’s letters came to them.

και εν ταις ημεραις εκειναις απο πολλων εντιμων ιουδα επιστολαι επορευοντο προς τωβιαν και αι τωβια ηρχοντο προς αυτους

Also they spoke of his good deeds before me, and reported my words to him. Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.

Also they reported H559 (QalActPtc) his good deeds H2896 before H6440 me, and uttered H3318 (HiphPtc) my words H1697 to him. [And] Tobiah H2900 sent H7971 (QalPerf) letters H107 to put me in fear. H3372 (PielInf)

και τους λογους αυτου ησαν λεγοντες προς με και λογους μου ησαν εκφεροντες αυτω και επιστολας απεστειλεν τωβιας φοβερισαι με

The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda: six hundred forty-two.

Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the rooms of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah,

και προ τουτου ελιασιβ ο ιερευς οικων εν γαζοφυλακιω οικου θεου ημων εγγιων τωβια

and I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in preparing him a room in the courts of God’s house.

And I came H935 (QalImpf) to Jerusalem, H3389 and understood H995 (QalImpf) of the evil H7451 that Eliashib H475 did H6213 (QalPerf) for Tobiah, H2900 in preparing H6213 (QalInf) him a chamber H5393 in the courts H2691 of the house H1004 of God. H430

και ηλθον εις ιερουσαλημ και συνηκα εν τη πονηρια η εποιησεν ελισουβ τω τωβια ποιησαι αυτω γαζοφυλακιον εν αυλη οικου του θεου

It grieved me severely. Therefore I threw all Tobiah’s household stuff out of the room.

And it grieved H3415 (QalImpf) me sore: H3966 therefore I cast forth H7993 (HiphImpf) all the household H1004 stuff H3627 of Tobiah H2900 out of H2351 the chamber. H3957

και πονηρον μοι εφανη σφοδρα και ερριψα παντα τα σκευη οικου τωβια εξω απο του γαζοφυλακιου

“Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah; and come the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have come from Babylon.

λαβε τα εκ της αιχμαλωσιας παρα των αρχοντων και παρα των χρησιμων αυτης και παρα των επεγνωκοτων αυτην και εισελευση συ εν τη ημερα εκεινη εις τον οικον ιωσιου του σοφονιου του ηκοντος εκ βαβυλωνος

The crowns shall be to Helem, to Tobijah, to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in Yahweh’s temple.

ο δε στεφανος εσται τοις υπομενουσιν και τοις χρησιμοις αυτης και τοις επεγνωκοσιν αυτην και εις χαριτα υιου σοφονιου και εις ψαλμον εν οικω κυριου
