Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and some fell there. Those who remained fled to the hills.

The king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).

I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you. Kings will come out of you.

I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her. Yes, I will bless her, and she will be a mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her.”

They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

“Asher’s food will be rich. He will produce royal dainties.

Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who didn’t know Joseph.

But the midwives feared God,^§ and didn’t do what the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the baby boys alive.

They will listen to your voice. You shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt, and you shall tell him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Yahweh, our God.’

και εισακουσονται σου της φωνης και εισελευση συ και η γερουσια ισραηλ προς φαραω βασιλεα αιγυπτου και ερεις προς αυτον ο θεος των εβραιων προσκεκληται ημας πορευσωμεθα ουν οδον τριων ημερων εις την ερημον ινα θυσωμεν τω θεω ημων

I know that the king of Egypt won’t give you permission to go, no, not by a mighty hand.

εγω δε οιδα οτι ου προησεται υμας φαραω βασιλευς αιγυπτου πορευθηναι εαν μη μετα χειρος κραταιας

The king of Egypt said to them, “Why do you, Moses and Aaron, take the people from their work? Get back to your burdens!”

“Go in, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.”

Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, and gave them a command to the children of Israel, and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

These are those who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are that Moses and Aaron.

Yahweh said to Moses, “I am Yahweh. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I tell you.”

και ανηγγελη τω βασιλει των αιγυπτιων οτι πεφευγεν ο λαος και μετεστραφη η καρδια φαραω και των θεραποντων αυτου επι τον λαον και ειπαν τι τουτο εποιησαμεν του εξαποστειλαι τους υιους ισραηλ του μη δουλευειν ημιν

Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand.^§

“Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink from the water of the wells. We will go along the king’s highway. We will not turn away to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”

And [when] king H4428 Arad H6166 the Canaanite, H3669 which dwelt H3427 (QalActPtc) in the south, H5045 heard H8085 (QalImpf) tell that Israel H3478 came H935 (QalActPtc) by the way H1870 of the spies; H871 then he fought H3898 (NiphImpf) against Israel, H3478 and took H7617 (QalImpf) [some] of them prisoners. H7628

και ηκουσεν ο χανανις βασιλευς αραδ ο κατοικων κατα την ερημον ηλθεν γαρ ισραηλ οδον αθαριν και επολεμησεν προς ισραηλ και κατεπρονομευσαν εξ αυτων αιχμαλωσιαν

Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

And Israel H3478 sent H7971 (QalImpf) messengers H4397 unto Sihon H5511 king H4428 of the Amorites, H567 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και απεστειλεν μωυσης πρεσβεις προς σηων βασιλεα αμορραιων λογοις ειρηνικοις λεγων

“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”

Let me pass H5674 (QalImpf) through thy land: H776 we will not turn H5186 (QalImpf) into the fields, H7704 or into the vineyards; H3754 we will not drink H8354 (QalImpf) [of] the waters H4325 of the well: H875 [but] we will go along H3212 (QalImpf) by the king’s H4428 [high] way, H1870 until we be past H5674 (QalImpf) thy borders. παρελευσομεθα δια της γης σου τη οδω πορευσομεθα ουκ εκκλινουμεν ουτε εις αγρον ουτε εις αμπελωνα ου πιομεθα υδωρ εκ φρεατος σου οδω βασιλικη πορευσομεθα εως παρελθωμεν τα ορια σου

For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.

For Heshbon H2809 [was] the city H5892 of Sihon H5511 the king H4428 of the Amorites, H567 who had fought H3898 (NiphPerf) against the former H7223 king H4428 of Moab, H4124 and taken H3947 (QalImpf) all his land H776 out of his hand, H3027 even unto Arnon. H769

εστιν γαρ εσεβων πολις σηων του βασιλεως των αμορραιων και ουτος επολεμησεν βασιλεα μωαβ το προτερον και ελαβον πασαν την γην αυτου απο αροηρ εως αρνων

Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.

Woe H188 to thee, Moab! H4124 thou art undone, H6 (QalPerf) O people H5971 of Chemosh: H3645 he hath given H5414 (QalPerf) his sons H1121 that escaped, H6412 and his daughters, H1323 into captivity H7622 unto Sihon H5511 king H4428 of the Amorites. H567

ουαι σοι μωαβ απωλου λαος χαμως απεδοθησαν οι υιοι αυτων διασωζεσθαι και αι θυγατερες αυτων αιχμαλωτοι τω βασιλει των αμορραιων σηων

They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

και επιστρεψαντες ανεβησαν οδον την εις βασαν και εξηλθεν ωγ βασιλευς της βασαν εις συναντησιν αυτοις και πας ο λαος αυτου εις πολεμον εις εδραιν

Yahweh said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 Fear H3372 (QalImpf) him not: for I have delivered H5414 (QalPerf) him into thy hand, H3027 and all his people, H5971 and his land; H776 and thou shalt do H6213 (QalPerf) to him as thou didst H6213 (QalPerf) unto Sihon H5511 king H4428 of the Amorites, H567 which dwelt H3427 (QalActPtc) at Heshbon. και ειπεν κυριος προς μωυσην μη φοβηθης αυτον οτι εις τας χειρας σου παραδεδωκα αυτον και παντα τον λαον αυτου και πασαν την γην αυτου και ποιησεις αυτω καθως εποιησας τω σηων βασιλει των αμορραιων ος κατωκει εν εσεβων

Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this multitude will lick up all that is around us, as the ox licks up the grass of the field.” Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time.

Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has said to me,

He took up his parable, and said, “From Aram has Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the mountains of the East. Come, curse Jacob for me. Come, defy Israel.

And he took up H5375 (QalImpf) his parable, H4912 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Balak H1111 the king H4428 of Moab H4124 hath brought H5148 (HiphImpf) me from Aram, H758 out of the mountains H2042 of the east, H6924 [saying], Come, H3212 (QalImpv) curse H779 (QalImpv) me Jacob, H3290 and come, H3212 (QalImpv) defy H2194 (QalImpv) Israel. και εγενηθη πνευμα θεου επ αυτω και αναλαβων την παραβολην αυτου ειπεν εκ μεσοποταμιας μετεπεμψατο με βαλακ βασιλευς μωαβ εξ ορεων απ ανατολων λεγων δευρο αρασαι μοι τον ιακωβ και δευρο επικαταρασαι μοι τον ισραηλ

He has not seen iniquity in Jacob. Neither has he seen perverseness in Israel. Yahweh his God is with him. The shout of a king is among them.

He hath not beheld H5027 (HiphPerf) iniquity H205 in Jacob, H3290 neither hath he seen H7200 (QalPerf) perverseness H5999 in Israel: H3478 the Lord H3068 his God H430 [is] with him, and the shout H8643 of a king H4428 [is] among them.

ουκ εσται μοχθος εν ιακωβ ουδε οφθησεται πονος εν ισραηλ κυριος ο θεος αυτου μετ αυτου τα ενδοξα αρχοντων εν αυτω

Water shall flow from his buckets. His seed shall be in many waters. His king shall be higher than Agag. His kingdom shall be exalted.

He shall pour H5140 the water H4325 out H5140 (QalImpf) of his buckets, H1805 and his seed H2233 [shall be] in many H7227 waters, H4325 and his king H4428 shall be higher H7311 (QalImpf) than Agag, H90 and his kingdom H4438 shall be exalted. H5375 (HithImpf)
