Exodus 14 (WEBP)
[1] Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
[2] “Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal Zephon. You shall encamp opposite it by the sea.
[3] Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are entangled in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.’
[4] I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will follow after them; and I will get honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies; and the Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh.” They did so.
[5] The king of Egypt was told that the people had fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”
[6] He prepared his chariot, and took his army with him;
[7] and he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, with captains over all of them.
[8] Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; for the children of Israel went out with a high hand.§
[9] The Egyptians pursued them. All the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon.
[10] When Pharaoh came near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them; and they were very afraid. The children of Israel cried out to Yahweh.
[11] They said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us out of Egypt?
[12] Isn’t this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
[13] Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today; for you will never again see the Egyptians whom you have seen today.
[14] Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.”
[15] Yahweh said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward.
[16] Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. Then the children of Israel shall go into the middle of the sea on dry ground.
[17] Behold, I myself will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they will go in after them. I will get myself honor over Pharaoh, and over all his armies, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.
[18] The Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh when I have gotten myself honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen.”
[19] The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them.
[20] It came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel. There was the cloud and the darkness, yet it gave light by night. One didn’t come near the other all night.
[21] Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and Yahweh caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
[22] The children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
[23] The Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the middle of the sea: all of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
[24] In the morning watch, Yahweh looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army.
[25] He took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, “Let’s flee from the face of Israel, for Yahweh fights for them against the Egyptians!”
[26] Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”
[27] Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.
[28] The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.
[29] But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
[30] Thus Yahweh saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
[31] Israel saw the great work which Yahweh did to the Egyptians, and the people feared Yahweh; and they believed in Yahweh and in his servant Moses.

Exodus 14 (KJVS)
[1] And the LORD H3068 spake H1696 (8762) unto Moses H4872, saying H559 (8800),
[2] Speak H1696 (8761) unto the children H1121 of Israel H3478, that they turn H7725 (8799) and encamp H2583 (8799) before H6440 Pihahiroth H6367, between Migdol H4024 and the sea H3220, over against H6440 Baalzephon H1189: before H5226 it shall ye encamp H2583 (8799) by the sea H3220.
[3] For Pharaoh H6547 will say H559 (8804) of the children H1121 of Israel H3478, They [are] entangled H943 (8737) in the land H776, the wilderness H4057 hath shut them in H5462 (8804).
[4] And I will harden H2388 (8765) Pharaoh’s H6547 heart H3820, that he shall follow H7291 (8804) after H310 them; and I will be honoured H3513 (8735) upon Pharaoh H6547, and upon all his host H2428; that the Egyptians H4714 may know H3045 (8804) that I [am] the LORD H3068. And they did H6213 (8799) so.
[5] And it was told H5046 (8714) the king H4428 of Egypt H4714 that the people H5971 fled H1272 (8804): and the heart H3824 of Pharaoh H6547 and of his servants H5650 was turned H2015 (8735) against the people H5971, and they said H559 (8799), Why have we done H6213 (8804) this, that we have let Israel H3478 go H7971 (8765) from serving H5647 (8800) us?
[6] And he made ready H631 (8799) his chariot H7393, and took H3947 (8804) his people H5971 with him:
[7] And he took H3947 (8799) six H8337 hundred H3967 chosen H977 (8803) chariots H7393, and all the chariots H7393 of Egypt H4714, and captains H7991 over every one of them.
[8] And the LORD H3068 hardened H2388 (8762) the heart H3820 of Pharaoh H6547 king H4428 of Egypt H4714, and he pursued H7291 (8799) after H310 the children H1121 of Israel H3478: and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 went out H3318 (8802) with an high H7311 (8802) hand H3027.
[9] But the Egyptians H4714 pursued H7291 (8799) after H310 them, all the horses H5483 [and] chariots H7393 of Pharaoh H6547, and his horsemen H6571, and his army H2428, and overtook H5381 (8686) them encamping H2583 (8802) by the sea H3220, beside Pihahiroth H6367, before H6440 Baalzephon H1189.
[10] And when Pharaoh H6547 drew nigh H7126 (8689), the children H1121 of Israel H3478 lifted up H5375 (8799) their eyes H5869, and, behold, the Egyptians H4714 marched H5265 (8802) after H310 them; and they were sore H3966 afraid H3372 (8799): and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 cried out H6817 (8799) unto the LORD H3068.
[11] And they said H559 (8799) unto Moses H4872, Because [there were] no graves H6913 in Egypt H4714, hast thou taken us away H3947 (8804) to die H4191 (8800) in the wilderness H4057? wherefore H2063 hast thou dealt H6213 (8804) thus with us, to carry us forth H3318 (8687) out of Egypt H4714?
[12] [Is] not this the word H1697 that we did tell H1696 (8765) thee in Egypt H4714, saying H559 (8800), Let us alone H2308 (8798), that we may serve H5647 (8799) the Egyptians H4714? For [it had been] better H2896 for us to serve H5647 (8800) the Egyptians H4714, than that we should die H4191 (8800) in the wilderness H4057.
[13] And Moses H4872 said H559 (8799) unto the people H5971, Fear H3372 (8799) ye not, stand still H3320 (8690), and see H7200 (8798) the salvation H3444 of the LORD H3068, which he will shew H6213 (8799) to you to day H3117: for the Egyptians H4714 whom ye have seen H7200 (8804) to day H3117, ye shall see H7200 (8800) them again H3254 (8686) no more for H5704 ever H5769.
[14] The LORD H3068 shall fight H3898 (8735) for you, and ye shall hold your peace H2790 (8686).
[15] And the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799) unto Moses H4872, Wherefore criest H6817 (8799) thou unto me? speak H1696 (8761) unto the children H1121 of Israel H3478, that they go forward H5265 (8799):
[16] But lift thou up H7311 (8685) thy rod H4294, and stretch out H5186 (8798) thine hand H3027 over the sea H3220, and divide H1234 (8798) it: and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 shall go H935 (8799) on dry H3004 [ground] through the midst H8432 of the sea H3220.
[17] And I, behold, I will harden H2388 (8764) the hearts H3820 of the Egyptians H4714, and they shall follow H935 (8799) them H310: and I will get me honour H3513 (8735) upon Pharaoh H6547, and upon all his host H2428, upon his chariots H7393, and upon his horsemen H6571.
[18] And the Egyptians H4714 shall know H3045 (8804) that I [am] the LORD H3068, when I have gotten me honour H3513 (8736) upon Pharaoh H6547, upon his chariots H7393, and upon his horsemen H6571.
[19] And the angel H4397 of God H430, which went H1980 (8802) before H6440 the camp H4264 of Israel H3478, removed H5265 (8799) and went H3212 (8799) behind H310 them; and the pillar H5982 of the cloud H6051 went H5265 (8799) from before their face H6440, and stood H5975 (8799) behind H310 them:
[20] And it came H935 (8799) between the camp H4264 of the Egyptians H4714 and the camp H4264 of Israel H3478; and it was a cloud H6051 and darkness H2822 [to them], but it gave light H215 (8686) by night H3915 [to these]: so that the one came not near H7126 (8804) the other H2088 all the night H3915.
[21] And Moses H4872 stretched out H5186 (8799) his hand H3027 over the sea H3220; and the LORD H3068 caused the sea H3220 to go H3212 (8686) [back] by a strong H5794 east H6921 wind H7307 all that night H3915, and made H7760 (8799) the sea H3220 dry H2724 [land], and the waters H4325 were divided H1234 (8735).
[22] And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 went H935 (8799) into the midst H8432 of the sea H3220 upon the dry H3004 [ground]: and the waters H4325 [were] a wall H2346 unto them on their right hand H3225, and on their left H8040.
[23] And the Egyptians H4714 pursued H7291 (8799), and went in H935 (8799) after H310 them to the midst H8432 of the sea H3220, [even] all Pharaoh’s H6547 horses H5483, his chariots H7393, and his horsemen H6571.
[24] And it came to pass, that in the morning H1242 watch H821 the LORD H3068 looked H8259 (8686) unto the host H4264 of the Egyptians H4714 through the pillar H5982 of fire H784 and of the cloud H6051, and troubled H2000 (8799) the host H4264 of the Egyptians H4714,
[25] And took off H5493 (8686) their chariot H4818 wheels H212, that they drave H5090 (8762) them heavily H3517: so that the Egyptians H4714 said H559 (8799), Let us flee H5127 (8799) from the face H6440 of Israel H3478; for the LORD H3068 fighteth H3898 (8737) for them against the Egyptians H4714.
[26] And the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799) unto Moses H4872, Stretch out H5186 (8798) thine hand H3027 over the sea H3220, that the waters H4325 may come again H7725 (8799) upon the Egyptians H4714, upon their chariots H7393, and upon their horsemen H6571.
[27] And Moses H4872 stretched forth H5186 (8799) his hand H3027 over the sea H3220, and the sea H3220 returned H7725 (8799) to his strength H386 when the morning H1242 appeared H6437 (8800); and the Egyptians H4714 fled H5127 (8801) against H7125 (8800) it; and the LORD H3068 overthrew H5287 (8762) the Egyptians H4714 in the midst H8432 of the sea H3220.
[28] And the waters H4325 returned H7725 (8799), and covered H3680 (8762) the chariots H7393, and the horsemen H6571, [and] all the host H2428 of Pharaoh H6547 that came H935 (8802) into the sea H3220 after H310 them; there remained H7604 (8738) not so much as H5704 one H259 of them.
[29] But the children H1121 of Israel H3478 walked H1980 (8804) upon dry H3004 [land] in the midst H8432 of the sea H3220; and the waters H4325 [were] a wall H2346 unto them on their right hand H3225, and on their left H8040.
[30] Thus the LORD H3068 saved H3467 (8686) Israel H3478 that day H3117 out of the hand H3027 of the Egyptians H4714; and Israel H3478 saw H7200 (8799) the Egyptians H4714 dead H4191 (8801) upon the sea H3220 shore H8193.
[31] And Israel H3478 saw H7200 (8799) that great H1419 work H3027 which the LORD H3068 did H6213 (8804) upon the Egyptians H4714: and the people H5971 feared H3372 (8799) the LORD H3068, and believed H539 (8686) the LORD H3068, and his servant H5650 Moses H4872.
Young’s Literal Translation
Exodus 14 (YLT)
[1] And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
[2] ‘Speak unto the sons of Israel, and they turn back and encamp before Pi-Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal-Zephon; over-against it ye do encamp by the sea,
[3] and Pharaoh hath said of the sons of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut upon them;
[4] and I have strengthened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath pursued after them, and I am honoured on Pharaoh, and on all his force, and the Egyptians have known that I am Jehovah;’ and they do so.
[5] And it is declared to the king of Egypt that the people hath fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants is turned against the people, and they say, ‘What is this we have done? that we have sent Israel away from our service.’
[6] And he harnesseth his chariot, and his people he hath taken with him,
[7] and he taketh six hundred chosen chariots, even all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over them all;
[8] and Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursueth after the sons of Israel, and the sons of Israel are going out with a high hand,
[9] and the Egyptians pursue after them, and all the chariot horses of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his force, overtake them, encamping by the sea, by Pi-Hahiroth, before Baal-Zephon.
[10] And Pharaoh hath drawn near, and the sons of Israel lift up their eyes, and lo, the Egyptians are journeying after them, and they fear exceedingly, and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah.
[11] And they say unto Moses, ‘Because there are no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in a wilderness? what is this thou hast done to us-to bring us out from Egypt?
[12] Is not this the word which we spake unto thee in Egypt, saying, Cease from us, and we serve the Egyptians; for better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in a wilderness?’
[13] And Moses saith unto the people, ‘Fear not, station yourselves, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which He doth for you to-day; for, as ye have seen the Egyptians to-day, ye add no more to see them-to the age;
[14] Jehovah doth fight for you, and ye keep silent.’
[15] And Jehovah saith unto Moses, ‘What? thou criest unto Me-speak unto the sons of Israel, and they journey;
[16] and thou, lift up thy rod, and stretch out thy hand towards the sea, and cleave it, and the sons of Israel go into the midst of the sea on dry land.
[17] ‘And I-lo, I am strengthening the heart of the Egyptians, and they go in after them, and I am honoured on Pharaoh, and on all his force, on his chariots, and on his horsemen;
[18] and the Egyptians have known that I am Jehovah, in My being honoured on Pharaoh, on his chariots, and on his horsemen.’
[19] And the messenger of God, who is going before the camp of Israel, journeyeth and goeth at their rear; and the pillar of the cloud journeyeth from their front, and standeth at their rear,
[20] and cometh in between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel, and the cloud and the darkness are, and he enlighteneth the night, and the one hath not drawn near unto the other all the night.
[21] And Moses stretcheth out his hand towards the sea, and Jehovah causeth the sea to go on by a strong east wind all the night, and maketh the sea become dry ground, and the waters are cleaved,
[22] and the sons of Israel go into the midst of the sea, on dry land, and the waters are to them a wall, on their right and on their left.
[23] And the Egyptians pursue, and go in after them (all the horses of Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen) unto the midst of the sea,
[24] and it cometh to pass, in the morning watch, that Jehovah looketh unto the camp of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubleth the camp of the Egyptians,
[25] and turneth aside the wheels of their chariots, and they lead them with difficulty, and the Egyptians say, ‘Let us flee from the face of Israel, for Jehovah is fighting for them against the Egyptians.’
[26] And Jehovah saith unto Moses, ‘Stretch out thy hand toward the sea, and the waters turn back on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.’
[27] And Moses stretcheth out his hand towards the sea, and the sea turneth back, at the turning of the morning, to its perennial flow, and the Egyptians are fleeing at its coming, and Jehovah shaketh off the Egyptians in the midst of the sea,
[28] and the waters turn back, and cover the chariots and the horsemen, even all the force of Pharaoh, who are coming in after them into the sea-there hath not been left of them even one.
[29] And the sons of Israel have gone on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters are to them a wall, on their right and on their left;
[30] and Jehovah saveth Israel in that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel seeth the Egyptians dead on the sea-shore,
[31] and Israel seeth the great hand with which Jehovah hath wrought against the Egyptians, and the people fear Jehovah, and remain stedfast in Jehovah, and in Moses His servant.
