Exodus 34 (WEBP)

[1] Yahweh said to Moses, “Chisel two stone tablets like the first. I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.
[2] Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain.
[3] No one shall come up with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain. Do not let the flocks or herds graze in front of that mountain.”
[4] He chiseled two tablets of stone like the first; then Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as Yahweh had commanded him, and took in his hand two stone tablets.
[5] Yahweh descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed Yahweh’s name.
[6] Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, “Yahweh! Yahweh, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth,
[7] keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.”
[8] Moses hurried and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.
[9] He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let the Lord go among us, even though this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”
[10] He said, “Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been worked in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of Yahweh; for it is an awesome thing that I do with you.
[11] Observe that which I command you today. Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
[12] Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare among you;
[13] but you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and you shall cut down their Asherah poles;
[14] for you shall worship no other god; for Yahweh, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
[15] “Don’t make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, lest they play the prostitute after their gods, and sacrifice to their gods, and one call you and you eat of his sacrifice;
[16] and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters play the prostitute after their gods, and make your sons play the prostitute after their gods.
[17] “You shall make no cast idols for yourselves.
[18] “You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib; for in the month Abib you came out of Egypt.
[19] “All that opens the womb is mine; and all your livestock that is male, the firstborn of cow and sheep.
[20] You shall redeem the firstborn of a donkey with a lamb. If you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem all the firstborn of your sons. No one shall appear before me empty.
[21] “Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.
[22] “You shall observe the feast of weeks with the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of harvest at the year’s end.
[23] Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord Yahweh, the God of Israel.
[24] For I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither shall any man desire your land when you go up to appear before Yahweh, your God, three times in the year.
[25] “You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread. The sacrifice of the feast of the Passover shall not be left to the morning.
[26] “You shall bring the first of the first fruits of your ground to the house of Yahweh your God. “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.”
[27] Yahweh said to Moses, “Write these words; for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”
[28] He was there with Yahweh forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread, nor drank water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
[29] When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mountain, Moses didn’t know that the skin of his face shone by reason of his speaking with him.
[30] When Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.
[31] Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses spoke to them.
[32] Afterward all the children of Israel came near, and he gave them all the commandments that Yahweh had spoken with him on Mount Sinai.
[33] When Moses was done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.
[34] But when Moses went in before Yahweh to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out; and he came out, and spoke to the children of Israel that which he was commanded.
[35] The children of Israel saw Moses’ face, that the skin of Moses’ face shone; so Moses put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

Exodus 34 (KJVS)

[1] And the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799) unto Moses H4872, Hew H6458 (8798) thee two H8147 tables H3871 of stone H68 like unto the first H7223: and I will write H3789 (8804) upon [these] tables H3871 the words H1697 that were in the first H7223 tables H3871, which thou brakest H7665 (8765).
[2] And be ready H3559 (8737) in the morning H1242, and come up H5927 (8804) in the morning H1242 unto mount H2022 Sinai H5514, and present H5324 (8738) thyself there to me in the top H7218 of the mount H2022.
[3] And no man H376 shall come up H5927 (8799) with thee, neither H408 let any man H376 be seen H7200 (8735) throughout all the mount H2022; neither let the flocks H6629 nor herds H1241 feed H7462 (8799) before H4136 that mount H2022.
[4] And he hewed H6458 (8799) two H8147 tables H3871 of stone H68 like unto the first H7223; and Moses H4872 rose up early H7925 (8686) in the morning H1242, and went up H5927 (8799) unto mount H2022 Sinai H5514, as the LORD H3068 had commanded H6680 (8765) him, and took H3947 (8799) in his hand H3027 the two H8147 tables H3871 of stone H68.
[5] And the LORD H3068 descended H3381 (8799) in the cloud H6051, and stood H3320 (8691) with him there, and proclaimed H7121 (8799) the name H8034 of the LORD H3068.
[6] And the LORD H3068 passed by H5674 (8799) before him H6440, and proclaimed H7121 (8799), The LORD H3068, The LORD H3068 God H410, merciful H7349 and gracious H2587, longsuffering H750 H639, and abundant H7227 in goodness H2617 and truth H571,
[7] Keeping H5341 (8802) mercy H2617 for thousands H505, forgiving H5375 (8802) iniquity H5771 and transgression H6588 and sin H2403, and that will by no means H5352 (8763) clear H5352 (8762) [the guilty]; visiting H6485 (8802) the iniquity H5771 of the fathers H1 upon the children H1121, and upon the children’s H1121 children, unto the third H8029 and to the fourth H7256 [generation].
[8] And Moses H4872 made haste H4116 (8762), and bowed his head H6915 (8799) toward the earth H776, and worshipped H7812 (8691).
[9] And he said H559 (8799), If now I have found H4672 (8804) grace H2580 in thy sight H5869, O Lord H136, let my Lord H136, I pray thee, go H3212 (8799) among H7130 us; for it [is] a stiffnecked H7186 H6203 people H5971; and pardon H5545 (8804) our iniquity H5771 and our sin H2403, and take us for thine inheritance H5157 (8804).
[10] And he said H559 (8799), Behold, I make H3772 (8802) a covenant H1285: before all thy people H5971 I will do H6213 (8799) marvels H6381 (8737), such as have not been done H1254 (8738) in all the earth H776, nor in any nation H1471: and all the people H5971 among H7130 which thou [art] shall see H7200 (8804) the work H4639 of the LORD H3068: for it [is] a terrible thing H3372 (8737) that I will do H6213 (8802) with thee.
[11] Observe H8104 (8798) thou that which I command H6680 (8764) thee this day H3117: behold, I drive out H1644 (8802) before H6440 thee the Amorite H567, and the Canaanite H3669, and the Hittite H2850, and the Perizzite H6522, and the Hivite H2340, and the Jebusite H2983.
[12] Take heed H8104 (8734) to thyself, lest thou make H3772 (8799) a covenant H1285 with the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of the land H776 whither thou goest H935 (8802), lest it be for a snare H4170 in the midst H7130 of thee:
[13] But ye shall destroy H5422 (8799) their altars H4196, break H7665 (8762) their images H4676, and cut down H3772 (8799) their groves H842:
[14] For thou shalt worship H7812 (8691) no other H312 god H410: for the LORD H3068, whose name H8034 [is] Jealous H7067, [is] a jealous H7067 God H410:
[15] Lest thou make H3772 (8799) a covenant H1285 with the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of the land H776, and they go a whoring H2181 (8804) after H310 their gods H430, and do sacrifice H2076 (8804) unto their gods H430, and [one] call H7121 (8804) thee, and thou eat H398 (8804) of his sacrifice H2077;
[16] And thou take H3947 (8804) of their daughters H1323 unto thy sons H1121, and their daughters H1323 go a whoring H2181 (8804) after H310 their gods H430, and make H2181 thy sons H1121 go a whoring H2181 (8689) after H310 their gods H430.
[17] Thou shalt make H6213 (8799) thee no molten H4541 gods H430.
[18] The feast H2282 of unleavened bread H4682 shalt thou keep H8104 (8799). Seven H7651 days H3117 thou shalt eat H398 (8799) unleavened bread H4682, as I commanded H6680 (8765) thee, in the time H4150 of the month H2320 Abib H24: for in the month H2320 Abib H24 thou camest out H3318 (8804) from Egypt H4714.
[19] All that openeth H6363 the matrix H7358 [is] mine; and every firstling H6363 among thy cattle H4735, [whether] ox H7794 or sheep H7716, [that is male H2142 (8735)].
[20] But the firstling H6363 of an ass H2543 thou shalt redeem H6299 (8799) with a lamb H7716: and if thou redeem H6299 (8799) [him] not, then shalt thou break his neck H6202 (8804). All the firstborn H1060 of thy sons H1121 thou shalt redeem H6299 (8799). And none shall appear H7200 (8735) before H6440 me empty H7387.
[21] Six H8337 days H3117 thou shalt work H5647 (8799), but on the seventh H7637 day H3117 thou shalt rest H7673 (8799): in earing time H2758 and in harvest H7105 thou shalt rest H7673 (8799).
[22] And thou shalt observe H6213 (8799) the feast H2282 of weeks H7620, of the firstfruits H1061 of wheat H2406 harvest H7105, and the feast H2282 of ingathering H614 at the year’s H8141 end H8622.
[23] Thrice H6471 H7969 in the year H8141 shall all your men children H2138 appear H7200 (8735) before H6440 the Lord H113 GOD H3068, the God H430 of Israel H3478.
[24] For I will cast out H3423 (8686) the nations H1471 before H6440 thee, and enlarge H7337 (8689) thy borders H1366: neither shall any man H376 desire H2530 (8799) thy land H776, when thou shalt go up H5927 (8800) to appear H7200 (8736) before H6440 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 thrice H6471 H7969 in the year H8141.
[25] Thou shalt not offer H7819 (8799) the blood H1818 of my sacrifice H2077 with leaven H2557; neither shall the sacrifice H2077 of the feast H2282 of the passover H6453 be left H3885 (8799) unto the morning H1242.
[26] The first H7225 of the firstfruits H1061 of thy land H127 thou shalt bring H935 (8686) unto the house H1004 of the LORD H3068 thy God H430. Thou shalt not seethe H1310 (8762) a kid H1423 in his mother’s H517 milk H2461.
[27] And the LORD H3068 said H559 (8799) unto Moses H4872, Write H3789 (8798) thou these words H1697: for after the tenor H6310 of these words H1697 I have made H3772 (8804) a covenant H1285 with thee and with Israel H3478.
[28] And he was there with the LORD H3068 forty H705 days H3117 and forty H705 nights H3915; he did neither eat H398 (8804) bread H3899, nor drink H8354 (8804) water H4325. And he wrote H3789 (8799) upon the tables H3871 the words H1697 of the covenant H1285, the ten H6235 commandments H1697.
[29] And it came to pass, when Moses H4872 came down H3381 (8800) from mount H2022 Sinai H5514 with the two H8147 tables H3871 of testimony H5715 in Moses H4872’ hand H3027, when he came down H3381 (8800) from the mount H2022, that Moses H4872 wist H3045 (8804) not that the skin H5785 of his face H6440 shone H7160 (8804) while he talked H1696 (8763) with him.
[30] And when Aaron H175 and all the children H1121 of Israel H3478 saw H7200 (8799) Moses H4872, behold, the skin H5785 of his face H6440 shone H7160 (8804); and they were afraid H3372 (8799) to come nigh H5066 (8800) him.
[31] And Moses H4872 called H7121 (8799) unto them; and Aaron H175 and all the rulers H5387 of the congregation H5712 returned H7725 (8799) unto him: and Moses H4872 talked H1696 (8762) with them.
[32] And afterward H310 all the children H1121 of Israel H3478 came nigh H5066 (8738): and he gave them in commandment H6680 (8762) all that the LORD H3068 had spoken H1696 (8765) with him in mount H2022 Sinai H5514.
[33] And [till] Moses H4872 had done H3615 (8762) speaking H1696 (8763) with them, he put H5414 (8799) a vail H4533 on his face H6440.
[34] But when Moses H4872 went in H935 (8800) before H6440 the LORD H3068 to speak H1696 (8763) with him, he took H5493 the vail H4533 off H5493 (8686), until he came out H3318 (8800). And he came out H3318 (8804), and spake H1696 (8765) unto the children H1121 of Israel H3478 [that] which he was commanded H6680 (8792).
[35] And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 saw H7200 (8804) the face H6440 of Moses H4872, that the skin H5785 of Moses H4872’ face H6440 shone H7160 (8804): and Moses H4872 put H7725 the vail H4533 upon his face H6440 again H7725 (8689), until he went H935 (8800) in to speak H1696 (8763) with him.

Young’s Literal Translation

Exodus 34 (YLT)

[1] And Jehovah saith unto Moses, ‘Hew for thyself two tables of stone like the first, and I have written on the tables the words which were on the first tables which thou hast broken;
[2] and be prepared at morning, and thou hast come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and hast stood before Me there, on the top of the mount,
[3] and no man cometh up with thee, and also no man is seen in all the mount, also the flock and the herd do not feed over-against that mount.’
[4] And he heweth two tables of stone like the first, and Moses riseth early in the morning, and goeth up unto mount Sinai, as Jehovah commanded him, and he taketh in his hand two tables of stone.
[5] And Jehovah cometh down in a cloud, and stationeth Himself with him there, and calleth in the Name of Jehovah,
[6] and Jehovah passeth over before his face, and calleth: ‘Jehovah, Jehovah God, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness and truth,
[7] keeping kindness for thousands, taking away iniquity, and transgression, and sin, and not entirely acquitting, charging iniquity of fathers on children, and on children’s children, on a third generation, and on a fourth.’
[8] And Moses hasteth, and boweth to the earth, and doth obeisance,
[9] and saith, ‘If, I pray Thee, I have found grace in Thine eyes, O my Lord, let my Lord, I pray Thee, go in our midst (for it is a stiff-necked people), and thou hast forgiven our iniquity and our sin, and hast inherited us.’
[10] And He saith, ‘Lo, I am making a covenant: before all thy people I do wonders, which have not been done in all the earth, or in any nation, and all the people in whose midst thou art have seen the work of Jehovah, for it is fearful that which I am doing with thee.
[11] ‘Observe for thyself that which I am commanding thee to-day: lo, I am casting out from before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite;
[12] take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitant of the land into which thou art going, lest it become a snare in thy midst;
[13] for their altars ye break down, and their standing pillars ye shiver, and its shrines ye cut down;
[14] for ye do not bow yourselves to another god-for Jehovah, whose name is Zealous, is a zealous God.
[15] ‘Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitant of the land, and they have gone a-whoring after their gods, and have sacrificed to their gods, and one hath called to thee, and thou hast eaten of his sacrifice,
[16] and thou hast taken of their daughters to thy sons, and their daughters have gone a-whoring after their gods, and have caused thy sons to go a-whoring after their gods;
[17] a molten god thou dost not make to thyself.
[18] ‘The feast of unleavened things thou dost keep; seven days thou dost eat unleavened things, as I have commanded thee, at an appointed time, the month of Abib: for in the month of Abib thou didst come out from Egypt.
[19] ‘All opening a womb are Mine, and every firstling of thy cattle born a male, ox or sheep;
[20] and the firstling of an ass thou dost ransom with a lamb; and if thou dost not ransom, then thou hast beheaded it; every first-born of thy sons thou dost ransom, and they do not appear before Me empty.
[21] ‘Six days thou dost work, and on the seventh day thou dost rest; in ploughing-time and in harvest thou dost rest.
[22] ‘And a feast of weeks thou dost observe for thyself; first-fruits of wheat-harvest; and the feast of in-gathering, at the revolution of the year.
[23] ‘Three times in a year do all thy males appear before the Lord Jehovah, God of Israel;
[24] for I dispossess nations from before thee, and have enlarged thy border, and no man doth desire thy land in thy going up to appear before Jehovah thy God three times in a year.
[25] ‘Thou dost not slaughter with a fermented thing the blood of My sacrifice; and the sacrifice of the feast of the passover doth not remain till morning:
[26] the first of the first-fruits of the land thou dost bring into the house of Jehovah thy God; thou dost not boil a kid in its mother’s milk.’
[27] And Jehovah saith unto Moses, ‘Write for thyself these words, for, according to the tenor of these words I have made with thee a covenant, and with Israel.’
[28] And he is there with Jehovah forty days and forty nights; bread he hath not eaten, and water he hath not drunk; and he writeth on the tables the matters of the covenant-the ten matters.
[29] And it cometh to pass, when Moses is coming down from mount Sinai (and the two tables of the testimony are in the hand of Moses in his coming down from the mount), that Moses hath not known that the skin of his face hath shone in His speaking with him,
[30] and Aaron seeth-all the sons of Israel also-Moses, and lo, the skin of his face hath shone, and they are afraid of coming nigh unto him.
[31] And Moses calleth unto them, and Aaron and all the princes in the company return unto him, and Moses speaketh unto them;
[32] and afterwards have all the sons of Israel come nigh, and he chargeth them with all that Jehovah hath spoken with him in mount Sinai.
[33] And Moses finisheth speaking with them, and putteth on his face a vail;
[34] and in the going in of Moses before Jehovah to speak with Him, he turneth aside the vail until his coming out; and he hath come out and hath spoken unto the sons of Israel that which he is commanded;
[35] and the sons of Israel have seen the face of Moses that the skin of the face of Moses hath shone, and Moses hath put back the vail on his face until his going in to speak with Him.
