‘Go, seek Jehovah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found, for great is the fury of Jehovah that is kindled against us, because that our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according to all that is written for us.’

So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they talked with her.

The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before Yahweh to walk after Yahweh and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book; and all the people agreed to the covenant.

And the king standeth by the pillar, and maketh the covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep His commands, and His testimonies, and His statutes, with all the heart, and with all the soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written on this book, and all the people stand in the covenant.

In his days Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him, but Pharaoh Necoh killed him at Megiddo when he saw him.

Jehozadak went into captivity when Yahweh carried Judah and Jerusalem away by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

and Jehozadak hath gone in Jehovah’s removing Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

And they go up and down, From nation unto nation, And from a kingdom unto another people.

All the people departed, each man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.

And all the people go, each to his house, and David turneth round to bless his house.

“Go and tell David my servant, ‘Yahweh says, “You shall not build me a house to dwell in;

In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’ ” ’

whithersoever I have walked up and down among all Israel, a word spake I, with one of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed My people, saying, Why have ye not built for Me a house of cedars?

I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a name like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, H1980 (QalPerf) and have cut off H3772 (HiphImpf) all thine enemies H341 (QalActPtc) from before H6440 thee, and have made H6213 (QalPerf) thee a name H8034 like the name H8034 of the great men H1419 that [are] in the earth. H776

and I am with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and I cut off all thine enemies from thy presence, and have made for thee a name like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

It will happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your offspring after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

And it shall come to pass, when thy days H3117 be expired H4390 (QalPerf) that thou must go H3212 (QalInf) [to be] with thy fathers, H1 that I will raise up H6965 (HiphPerf) thy seed H2233 after H310 thee, which shall be of thy sons; H1121 and I will establish H3559 (HiphPerf) his kingdom. H4438

and it hath come to pass, when thy days have been fulfilled to go with thy fathers, that I have raised up thy seed after thee, who is of thy sons, and I have established his kingdom,

What one nation in the earth is like your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make you a name by great and awesome things, in driving out nations from before your people whom you redeemed out of Egypt?

And what one H259 nation H1471 in the earth H776 [is] like thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 whom God H430 went H1980 (QalPerf) to redeem H6299 (QalInf) [to be] his own people, H5971 to make H7760 (QalInf) thee a name H8034 of greatness H1420 and terribleness, H3372 (NiphPtc) by driving out H1644 (PielInf) nations H1471 from before H6440 thy people, H5971 whom thou hast redeemed H6299 (QalPerf) out of Egypt? ‘And who is as Thy people Israel, one nation in the earth whom God hath gone to ransom to Him for a people, to make for Thee a name great and fearful, to cast out from the presence of Thy people whom Thou hast ransomed out of Egypt-nations?

David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah, toward Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.

And David H1732 smote H5221 (HiphImpf) Hadarezer H1928 king H4428 of Zobah H6678 unto Hamath, H2574 as he went H3212 (QalInf) to stablish H5324 (HiphInf) his dominion H3027 by the river H5104 Euphrates. H6578

And David smiteth Hadarezer king of Zobah, at Hamath, in his going to establish his power by the river Phrat,

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

and David putteth garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Aramaeans are to David for servants, bearing a present, and Jehovah giveth salvation to David whithersoever he hath gone.

He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

Then some people went and told David how the men were treated. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”

Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed and went throughout all Israel, then came to Jerusalem.

And the word of the king is severe against Joab, and Joab goeth out, and goeth up and down in all Israel, and cometh in to Jerusalem.

“Go and speak to David, saying, ‘Yahweh says, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.” ’ ”

But David couldn’t go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid because of the sword of Yahweh’s angel.

Then Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for God’s Tent of Meeting was there, which Yahweh’s servant Moses had made in the wilderness.

and saith, ‘O Jehovah God of Israel, there is not like Thee a god in the heavens and in the earth, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Thy servants who are walking before Thee with all their heart;

“Now therefore, Yahweh, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.’

‘And now, O Jehovah, God of Israel, keep for Thy servant David my father that which Thou didst speak to him, saying, There is not cut off to thee a man from before Me, sitting on the throne of Israel, only, if thy sons watch their way to walk in My law, as thou hast walked before Me.

then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk, and send rain on your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

that they may fear you, to walk in your ways as long as they live in the land which you gave to our fathers.

“As for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances,

‘And thou, if thou dost walk before Me as David thy father walked, even to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and My statutes and My judgments dost keep-

But if you turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,

and if ye turn back-ye-and have forsaken My statutes, and My commands, that I have placed before you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them-then I have plucked them from off My ground that I have given to them,

And Solomon goeth to Hamath-Zobah, and layeth hold upon it;

King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, more than that which she had brought to the king. So she turned and went to her own land, she and her servants.

He said to them, “Come again to me after three days.” So the people departed.

And he saith unto them, ‘Yet three days-then return ye unto me;’ and the people go.

When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion do we have in David? We don’t have an inheritance in the son of Jesse! Every man to your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So all Israel departed to their tents.

And when all Israel H3478 [saw H7200 (QalPerf)] that the king H4428 would not hearken H8085 (QalPerf) unto them, the people H5971 answered H7725 (HiphImpf) the king, H4428 saying, H559 (QalInf) What portion H2506 have we in David? H1732 and [we have] none inheritance H5159 in the son H1121 of Jesse: H3448 every man H376 to your tents, H168 O Israel: H3478 [and] now, David, H1732 see H7200 (QalImpv) to thine own house. H1004 So all Israel H3478 went H3212 (QalImpf) to their tents. H168

And all Israel have seen that the king hath not hearkened to them, and the people send back to the king, saying, ‘What portion have we in David? yea, there is no inheritance in a son of Jesse; each to thy tents, O Israel; now, see thy house-David,’ and all Israel go to their tents.

‘Yahweh says, “You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers! Every man return to his house; for this thing is of me.” ’ ” So they listened to Yahweh’s words, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Ye shall not go up, H5927 (QalImpf) nor fight H3898 (NiphImpf) against your brethren: H251 return H7725 (QalImpv) every man H376 to his house: H1004 for this thing H1697 is done H1961 (NiphPerf) of me. And they obeyed H8085 (QalImpf) the words H1697 of the Lord, H3068 and returned H7725 (QalImpf) from going H3212 (QalInf) against Jeroboam. H3379

Thus said Jehovah, Ye do not go up nor fight with your brethren, turn back each to his house, for from Me hath this thing been;’ and they hear the words of Jehovah, and turn back from going against Jeroboam.

For the Levites left their pasture lands and their possessions, and came to Judah and Jerusalem; for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest’s office to Yahweh.

For the Levites H3881 left H5800 (QalPerf) their suburbs H4054 and their possession, H272 and came H3212 (QalImpf) to Judah H3063 and Jerusalem: H3389 for Jeroboam H3379 and his sons H1121 had cast them off H2186 (HiphPerf) from executing the priest’s office H3547 (PielInf) unto the Lord: H3068

for the Levites have left their suburbs and their possession, and they come to Judah and to Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons have cast them off from acting as priests to Jehovah,

So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong for three years, for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.

And they strengthen the kingdom of Judah, and strengthen Rehoboam son of Solomon, for three years, because they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.

“Let there be a treaty between me and you, as there was between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold. Go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.”

Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,

And the Lord H3068 was with Jehoshaphat, H3092 because he walked H1980 (QalPerf) in the first H7223 ways H1870 of his father H1 David, H1732 and sought H1875 (QalPerf) not unto Baalim; H1168

And Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,

but sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not in the ways of Israel.

for to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.

Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

And Jehoshaphat H3092 waxed H1980 (QalActPtc) great H1432 exceedingly; H4605 and he built H1129 (QalImpf) in Judah H3063 castles, H1003 and cities H5892 of store. H4543

And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,
