1 Chronicles 11 (WEBP)
[1] Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
[2] In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’ ”
[3] So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh. They anointed David king over Israel, according to Yahweh’s word by Samuel.
[4] David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
[5] The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is David’s city.
[6] David had said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
[7] David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it David’s city.
[8] He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
[9] David grew greater and greater, for Yahweh of Armies was with him.
[10] Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to Yahweh’s word concerning Israel.
[11] This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.
[12] After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.
[13] He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
[14] They stood in the middle of the plot, defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.
[15] Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
[16] David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem at that time.
[17] David longed, and said, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
[18] The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, took it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,
[19] and said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
[20] Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.
[21] Of the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain; however he wasn’t included in the three.
[22] Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.
[23] He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits° high. In the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
[24] Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things and had a name among the three mighty men.
[25] Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three; and David set him over his guard.
[26] The mighty men of the armies also include Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
[27] Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
[28] Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,
[29] Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,

[33] Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
[34] the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shagee the Hararite,

[36] Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,

1 Chronicles 11 (KJVS)
[1] Then all Israel H3478 gathered H6908 (8735) themselves to David H1732 unto Hebron H2275, saying H559 (8800), Behold, we [are] thy bone H6106 and thy flesh H1320.
[2] And moreover in time H8543 past H8032, even when Saul H7586 was king H4428, thou [wast] he that leddest out H3318 (8688) and broughtest in H935 (8688) Israel H3478: and the LORD H3068 thy God H430 said H559 (8799) unto thee, Thou shalt feed H7462 (8799) my people H5971 Israel H3478, and thou shalt be ruler H5057 over my people H1571 Israel H3478.
[3] Therefore came H935 (8799) all the elders H2205 of Israel H3478 to the king H4428 to Hebron H2275; and David H1732 made H3772 (8799) a covenant H1285 with them in Hebron H2275 before H6440 the LORD H3068; and they anointed H4886 (8799) David H1732 king H4428 over Israel H3478, according to the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 by H3027 Samuel H8050.
[4] And David H1732 and all Israel H3478 went H3212 (8799) to Jerusalem H3389, which [is] Jebus H2982; where the Jebusites H2983 [were], the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of the land H776.
[5] And the inhabitants H3427 (8802) of Jebus H2982 said H559 (8799) to David H1732, Thou shalt not come H935 (8799) hither. Nevertheless David H1732 took H3920 (8799) the castle H4686 of Zion H6726, which [is] the city H5892 of David H1732.
[6] And David H1732 said H559 (8799), Whosoever smiteth H5221 (8688) the Jebusites H2983 first H7223 shall be chief H7218 and captain H8269. So Joab H3097 the son H1121 of Zeruiah H6870 went H5927 first H7223 up H5927 (8799), and was chief H7218.
[7] And David H1732 dwelt H3427 (8799) in the castle H4679; therefore they called H7121 (8804) it the city H5892 of David H1732.
[8] And he built H1129 (8799) the city H5892 round about H5439, even from Millo H4407 round about H5439: and Joab H3097 repaired H2421 (8762) the rest H7605 of the city H5892.
[9] So David H1732 waxed H3212 (8799) greater H1980 (8800) and greater H1419: for the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 [was] with him.
[10] These also [are] the chief H7218 of the mighty men H1368 whom David H1732 had, who strengthened H2388 (8693) themselves with him in his kingdom H4438, [and] with all Israel H3478, to make him king H4427 (8687), according to the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 concerning Israel H3478.
[11] And this [is] the number H4557 of the mighty men H1368 whom David H1732 had; Jashobeam H3434, an Hachmonite H2453, the chief H7218 of the captains H7991 (8675) H7970: he lifted up H5782 (8790) his spear H2595 against three H7969 hundred H3967 slain H2491 [by him] at one H259 time H6471.
[12] And after H310 him [was] Eleazar H499 the son H1121 of Dodo H1734, the Ahohite H266, who [was one] of the three H7969 mighties H1368.
[13] He was with David H1732 at Pasdammim H6450, and there the Philistines H6430 were gathered together H622 (8738) to battle H4421, where was a parcel H2513 of ground H7704 full H4392 of barley H8184; and the people H5971 fled H5127 (8804) from before H6440 the Philistines H6430.
[14] And they set H3320 (8691) themselves in the midst H8432 of [that] parcel H2513, and delivered H5337 (8686) it, and slew H5221 (8686) the Philistines H6430; and the LORD H3068 saved H3467 (8686) [them] by a great H1419 deliverance H8668.
[15] Now three H7969 of the thirty H7970 captains H7218 went down H3381 (8799) to the rock H6697 to David H1732, into the cave H4631 of Adullam H5725; and the host H4264 of the Philistines H6430 encamped H2583 (8802) in the valley H6010 of Rephaim H7497.
[16] And David H1732 [was] then in the hold H4686, and the Philistines H6430’ garrison H5333 [was] then at Bethlehem H1035.
[17] And David H1732 longed H183 (8691), and said H559 (8799), Oh that one would give me drink H8248 (8686) of the water H4325 of the well H953 of Bethlehem H1035, that [is] at the gate H8179!
[18] And the three H7969 brake through H1234 (8799) the host H4264 of the Philistines H6430, and drew H7579 (8799) water H4325 out of the well H953 of Bethlehem H1035, that [was] by the gate H8179, and took H5375 (8799) [it], and brought H935 (8686) [it] to David H1732: but David H1732 would H14 (8804) not drink H8354 (8800) [of] it, but poured it out H5258 (8762) to the LORD H3068,
[19] And said H559 (8799), My God H430 forbid H2486 it me, that I should do H6213 (8800) this thing H2063: shall I drink H8354 (8799) the blood H1818 of these men H582 that have put their lives in jeopardy H5315? for with [the jeopardy of] their lives H5315 they brought H935 (8689) it. Therefore he would H14 (8804) not drink H8354 (8800) it. These things did H6213 (8804) these three H7969 mightiest H1368.
[20] And Abishai H52 the brother H251 of Joab H3097, he was chief H7218 of the three H7969: for lifting up H5782 (8790) his spear H2595 against three H7969 hundred H3967, he slew H2491 [them], and had a name H8034 among the three H7969.
[21] Of the three H7969, he was more honourable H3513 (8737) than the two H8147; for he was their captain H8269: howbeit he attained H935 (8804) not to the [first] three H7969.
[22] Benaiah H1141 the son H1121 of Jehoiada H3077, the son H1121 of a valiant H2428 man H376 of Kabzeel H6909, who had done many H7227 acts H6467; he slew H5221 (8689) two H8147 lionlike men H739 of Moab H4124: also he went down H3381 (8804) and slew H5221 (8689) a lion H738 in H8432 a pit H953 in a snowy H7950 day H3117.
[23] And he slew H5221 (8689) an Egyptian H4713, a man H376 of [great] stature H4060, five H2568 cubits H520 high; and in the Egyptian’s H4713 hand H3027 [was] a spear H2595 like a weaver’s H707 (8802) beam H4500; and he went down H3381 (8799) to him with a staff H7626, and plucked H1497 (8799) the spear H2595 out of the Egyptian’s H4713 hand H3027, and slew H2026 (8799) him with his own spear H2595.
[24] These [things] did H6213 (8804) Benaiah H1141 the son H1121 of Jehoiada H3077, and had the name H8034 among the three H7969 mighties H1368.
[25] Behold H2009, he was honourable H3513 (8737) among the thirty H7970, but attained H935 (8804) not to the [first] three H7969: and David H1732 set H7760 (8799) him over his guard H4928.
[26] Also the valiant men H1368 of the armies H2428 [were], Asahel H6214 the brother H251 of Joab H3097, Elhanan H445 the son H1121 of Dodo H1734 of Bethlehem H1035,
[27] Shammoth H8054 the Harorite H2033, Helez H2503 the Pelonite H6397,

Young’s Literal Translation
1 Chronicles 11 (YLT)
[1] And gathered are all Israel unto David to Hebron, saying, ‘Lo, thy bone and thy flesh are we;
[2] even in time past, even in Saul’s being king, it is thou who art taking out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah thy God saith to thee: Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art leader over My people Israel.’
[3] And all the elders of Israel come in unto the king to Hebron, and David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel, according to the word of Jehovah by the hand of Samuel.
[4] And David goeth, and all Israel, to Jerusalem-it is Jebus-and there the Jebusite, the inhabitants of the land.
[5] And the inhabitants of Jebus say to David, ‘Thou dost not come in hither;’ and David captureth the fortress of Zion-it is the city of David.
[6] And David saith, ‘Whoever smiteth the Jebusite first doth become head and prince;’ and go up first doth Joab son of Zeruiah and becometh head.
[7] And David dwelleth in the fortress, therefore they have called it, ‘City of David;’
[8] and he buildeth the city round about, from Millo, and unto the circumference, and Joab restoreth the rest of the city.
[9] And David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah of Hosts is with him.
[10] And these are heads of the mighty ones whom David hath, who are strengthening themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to cause him to reign, according to the word of Jehovah, over Israel.
[11] And this is an account of the mighty ones whom David hath: Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite is head of the thirty; he is lifting up his spear against three hundred-wounded, at one time.
[12] And after him is Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite, he is among the three mighty;
[13] he hath been with David in Pas-Dammim, and the Philistines have been gathered there to battle, and a portion of the field is full of barley, and the people have fled from the face of the Philistines,
[14] and they station themselves in the midst of the portion, and deliver it, and smite the Philistines, and Jehovah saveth-a great salvation.
[15] And three of the thirty heads go down on the rock unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, and the host of the Philistines is encamping in the valley of Rephaim,
[16] and David is then in the fortress, and the station of the Philistines is then in Beth-Lehem,
[17] and David longeth, and saith, ‘Who doth give me to drink water from the well of Beth-Lehem, that is at the gate!’
[18] And the three break through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water from the well of Beth-Lehem, that is at the gate, and bear and bring in unto David, and David hath not been willing to drink it, and poureth it out to Jehovah,
[19] and saith, ‘Far be it from me, by my God, to do this; the blood of these men do I drink with their lives? for with their lives they have brought it;’ and he was not willing to drink it; these things did the three mighty ones.
[20] And Abishai brother of Joab, he hath been head of the three: and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred-wounded, and hath a name among three.
[21] Of the three by the two he is honoured, and becometh their head; and unto the first three he hath not come.
[22] Benaiah son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, of great deeds, from Kabzeel: he hath smitten the two lion-like Moabites, and he hath gone down and smitten the lion in the midst of the pit, in the day of snow.
[23] And he hath smitten the man, the Egyptian-a man of measure, five by the cubit-and in the hand of the Egyptian is a spear like a beam of weavers, and he goeth down unto him with a rod, and taketh violently away the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slayeth him with his own spear.
[24] These things hath Benaiah son of Jehoiada done, and hath a name among the three mighty ones.
[25] Of the thirty, lo, he is honoured, and unto the first three he hath not come, and David setteth him over his guard.
[26] And the mighty ones of the forces are Asahel brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem,
[27] Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
[28] Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi-Ezer the Annethothite,
[29] Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
[30] Maharai the Netophathite, Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite,

[32] Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
[33] Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
[34] the sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan son of Shage the Hararite,
[35] Ahiam son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal son of Ur,
[36] Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,
[37] Hezor the Carmelite, Naarai son of Ezbai,
[38] Joel brother of Nathan, Mibhar son of Haggeri,
