I have seen the burden which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.

Yes, better than them both is him who has not yet been, who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man’s neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

I saw all the living who walk under the sun, that they were with the youth, the other, who succeeded him.

If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter, for one official is eyed by a higher one, and there are officials over them.

When goods increase, those who eat them are increased; and what advantage is there to its owner, except to feast on them with his eyes?

There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: wealth kept by its owner to his harm.

There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is heavy on men:

Moreover it has not seen the sun nor known it. This has rest rather than the other.

και γε ηλιον ουκ ειδεν και ουκ εγνω αναπαυσις τουτω υπερ τουτον

Yes, though he live a thousand years twice told, and yet fails to enjoy good, don’t all go to one place?

και ει εζησεν χιλιων ετων καθοδους και αγαθωσυνην ουκ ειδεν μη ουκ εις τοπον ενα τα παντα πορευεται

Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun.

Wisdom H2451 is good H2896 with an inheritance:^§ H5159 and by it there is profit H3148 to them that see H7200 (QalActPtc) the sun. H8121

Ecclesiastes 7:11 Or, as good as an inheritance, yea, better too

αγαθη σοφια μετα κληροδοσιας και περισσεια τοις θεωρουσιν τον ηλιον

Consider the work of God, for who can make that straight which he has made crooked?

και συν παν τουτο ειδον και εδωκα την καρδιαν μου εις παν ποιημα ο πεποιηται υπο τον ηλιον τα οσα εξουσιασατο ο ανθρωπος εν ανθρωπω του κακωσαι αυτον

So I saw the wicked buried. Indeed they came also from holiness. They went and were forgotten in the city where they did this. This also is vanity.

And so H3651 I saw H7200 (QalPerf) the wicked H7563 buried, H6912 (QalPasPtc) who had come H935 (QalPerf) and gone H1980 (PielImpf) from the place H4725 of the holy, H6918 and they were forgotten H7911 (HithImpf) in the city H5892 where they had so done: H6213 (QalPerf) this is also vanity. H1892

και τοτε ειδον ασεβεις εις ταφους εισαχθεντας και εκ τοπου αγιου επορευθησαν και επηνεθησαν εν τη πολει οτι ουτως εποιησαν και γε τουτο ματαιοτης

When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on the earth (even though eyes see no sleep day or night),

When I applied H5414 (QalPerf) mine heart H3820 to know H3045 (QalInf) wisdom, H2451 and to see H7200 (QalInf) the business H6045 that is done H6213 (NiphPerf) upon the earth: H776 (for also there is that neither day H3117 nor night H3915 seeth H7200 (QalActPtc) sleep H8142 with his eyes:) H5869

εν οις εδωκα την καρδιαν μου του γνωναι σοφιαν και του ιδειν τον περισπασμον τον πεποιημενον επι της γης οτι και γε εν ημερα και εν νυκτι υπνον εν οφθαλμοις αυτου ουκ εστιν βλεπων

then I saw all the work of God, that man can’t find out the work that is done under the sun, because however much a man labors to seek it out, yet he won’t find it. Yes even though a wise man thinks he can comprehend it, he won’t be able to find it.

και ειδον συν παντα τα ποιηματα του θεου οτι ου δυνησεται ανθρωπος του ευρειν συν το ποιημα το πεποιημενον υπο τον ηλιον οσα αν μοχθηση ο ανθρωπος του ζητησαι και ουχ ευρησει και γε οσα αν ειπη ο σοφος του γνωναι ου δυνησεται του ευρειν
