Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.

Under their hand was an army, three hundred seven thousand five hundred, who made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

και εθυμωθη οζιας και εν τη χειρι αυτου το θυμιατηριον του θυμιασαι εν τω ναω και εν τω θυμωθηναι αυτον προς τους ιερεις και η λεπρα ανετειλεν εν τω μετωπω αυτου εναντιον των ιερεων εν οικω κυριου επανω του θυσιαστηριου των θυμιαματων

Uzziah the king was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from Yahweh’s house. Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

και ην οζιας ο βασιλευς λεπρος εως ημερας της τελευτης αυτου και εν οικω αφφουσωθ εκαθητο λεπρος οτι απεσχισθη απο οικου κυριου και ιωαθαμ ο υιος αυτου επι της βασιλειας αυτου κρινων τον λαον της γης

He also fought with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents° of silver, ten thousand cors° of wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley.° The children of Ammon also gave that much to him in the second year, and in the third.

και νυν ακουσατε μου και αποστρεψατε την αιχμαλωσιαν ην ηχμαλωτευσατε των αδελφων υμων οτι οργη θυμου κυριου εφ υμιν

Then some of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,

Then certain H582 of the heads H7218 of the children H1121 of Ephraim, H669 Azariah H5838 the son H1121 of Johanan, H3076 Berechiah H1296 the son H1121 of Meshillemoth, H4919 and Jehizkiah H3169 the son H1121 of Shallum, H7967 and Amasa H6021 the son H1121 of Hadlai, H2311 stood up H6965 (QalImpf) against them that came H935 (QalActPtc) from the war, H6635

και ανεστησαν αρχοντες απο των υιων εφραιμ ουδια ο του ιωανου και βαραχιας ο του μοσολαμωθ και εζεκιας ο του σελλημ και αμασιας ο του χοδλι επι τους ερχομενους απο του πολεμου

and said to them, “You must not bring in the captives here, for you intend that which will bring on us a trespass against Yahweh, to add to our sins and to our guilt; for our guilt is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.”

And said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Ye shall not bring in H935 (HiphImpf) the captives H7633 hither: for whereas we have offended H819 against the Lord H3068 [already], ye intend H559 (QalActPtc) to add H3254 (HiphInf) [more] to our sins H2403 and to our trespass: H819 for our trespass H819 is great, H7227 and [there is] fierce H2740 wrath H639 against Israel. και ειπαν αυτοις ου μη εισαγαγητε την αιχμαλωσιαν ωδε προς ημας οτι εις το αμαρτανειν τω κυριω εφ ημας υμεις λεγετε προσθειναι επι ταις αμαρτιαις ημων και επι την αγνοιαν οτι πολλη η αμαρτια ημων και οργη θυμου κυριου επι τον ισραηλ

Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came to him and gave him trouble, but didn’t strengthen him.

And Tilgathpilneser H8407 king H4428 of Assyria H804 came H935 (QalImpf) unto him, and distressed H6696 (QalImpf) him, but strengthened H2388 (QalPerf) him not.

και ηλθεν επ αυτον θαγλαθφελλασαρ βασιλευς ασσουρ και επαταξεν αυτον

Therefore Yahweh’s wrath was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.

Wherefore the wrath H7110 of the Lord H3068 was upon Judah H3063 and Jerusalem, H3389 and he hath delivered H5414 (QalImpf) them to trouble, H2189 (Qere) H2113 to astonishment, H8047 and to hissing, H8322 as ye see H7200 (QalActPtc) with your eyes. H5869

και ωργισθη οργη κυριος επι τον ιουδαν και επι την ιερουσαλημ και εδωκεν αυτους εις εκστασιν και εις αφανισμον και εις συρισμον ως υμεις ορατε τοις οφθαλμοις υμων

Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of that which God had prepared for the people; for the thing was done suddenly.

And Hezekiah H3169 rejoiced, H8055 (QalImpf) and all the people, H5971 that God H430 had prepared H3559 (HiphPerf) the people: H5971 for the thing H1697 was [done] suddenly. H6597

και ηυφρανθη εζεκιας και πας ο λαος δια το ητοιμακεναι τον θεον τω λαω οτι εξαπινα εγενετο ο λογος

For there were many in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves; therefore the Levites were in charge of killing the Passovers for everyone who was not clean, to sanctify them to Yahweh.

For [there were] many H7227 in the congregation H6951 that were not sanctified: H6942 (HithPerf) therefore the Levites H3881 had the charge of the killing H7821 of the passovers H6453 for every one [that was] not clean, H2889 to sanctify H6942 (HiphInf) [them] unto the Lord. H3068

οτι πληθος της εκκλησιας ουχ ηγνισθη και οι λευιται ησαν του θυειν το φασεκ παντι τω μη δυναμενω αγνισθηναι τω κυριω

Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who had good understanding in the service of Yahweh. So they ate throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace offerings and making confession to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.

και ελαλησεν εζεκιας επι πασαν καρδιαν των λευιτων και των συνιοντων συνεσιν αγαθην τω κυριω και συνετελεσαν την εορτην των αζυμων επτα ημερας θυοντες θυσιας σωτηριου και εξομολογουμενοι τω κυριω θεω των πατερων αυτων

Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites about the heaps.

Then Hezekiah H3169 questioned H1875 (QalImpf) with the priests H3548 and the Levites H3881 concerning the heaps. H6194

και επυνθανετο εζεκιας των ιερεων και των λευιτων υπερ των σωρων

They brought in the offerings, the tithes, and the dedicated things faithfully. Conaniah the Levite was ruler over them, and Shimei his brother was second.

And brought in H935 (HiphImpf) the offerings H8641 and the tithes H4643 and the dedicated H6944 [things] faithfully: H530 over which Cononiah H3562 the Levite H3881 [was] ruler, H5057 and Shimei H8096 his brother H251 [was] the next. H4932

Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the gatekeeper at the east gate, was over the free will offerings of God, to distribute Yahweh’s offerings and the most holy things.

And Kore H6981 the son H1121 of Imnah H3232 the Levite, H3881 the porter H7778 toward the east, H4217 [was] over the freewill offerings H5071 of God, H430 to distribute H5414 (QalInf) the oblations H8641 of the Lord, H3068 and the most H6944 holy things. H6944

και κωρη ο του ιεμνα ο λευιτης ο πυλωρος κατα ανατολας επι των δοματων δουναι τας απαρχας κυριω και τα αγια των αγιων

Under him were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their office of trust, to give to their brothers by divisions, to the great as well as to the small;

And next him [were] Eden, H5731 and Miniamin, H4509 and Jeshua, H3442 and Shemaiah, H8098 Amariah, H568 and Shecaniah, H7935 in the cities H5892 of the priests, H3548 in [their] set office, H530 to give H5414 (QalInf) to their brethren H251 by H3027 courses, H4256 as well to the great H1419 as to the small: H6996

δια χειρος οδομ και βενιαμιν και ιησους και σεμει και αμαριας και σεχονιας δια χειρος των ιερεων εν πιστει δουναι τοις αδελφοις αυτων κατα τας εφημεριας κατα τον μεγαν και τον μικρον

After these things and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, entered into Judah, encamped against the fortified cities, and intended to win them for himself.

After H310 these things, H1697 and the establishment H571 thereof, Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 came, H935 (QalPerf) and entered H935 (QalImpf) into Judah, H3063 and encamped H2583 (QalImpf) against the fenced H1219 (QalPasPtc) cities, H5892 and thought H559 (QalImpf) to win H1234 (QalInf) them for himself.

και μετα τους λογους τουτους και την αληθειαν ταυτην ηλθεν σενναχηριμ βασιλευς ασσυριων και ηλθεν επι ιουδαν και παρενεβαλεν επι τας πολεις τας τειχηρεις και ειπεν προκαταλαβεσθαι αυτας

He set captains of war over the people, gathered them together to him in the wide place at the gate of the city, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (now he was attacking Lachish, and all his forces were with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,

After H310 this did Sennacherib H5576 king H4428 of Assyria H804 send H7971 (QalPerf) his servants H5650 to Jerusalem, H3389 (but he [himself laid siege] against Lachish, H3923 and all his power H4475 with him,) unto Hezekiah H3169 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and unto all Judah H3063 that [were] at Jerusalem, H3389 saying, H559 (QalInf)

και μετα ταυτα απεστειλεν σενναχηριμ βασιλευς ασσυριων τους παιδας αυτου επι ιερουσαλημ και αυτος επι λαχις και πασα η στρατια μετ αυτου και απεστειλεν προς εζεκιαν βασιλεα ιουδα και προς παντα ιουδαν τον εν ιερουσαλημ λεγων

His servants spoke yet more against Yahweh God and against his servant Hezekiah.

And his servants H5650 spake H1696 (PielPerf) yet [more] against the Lord H3068 God, H430 and against his servant H5650 Hezekiah. H3169

και ετι ελαλησαν οι παιδες αυτου επι κυριον θεον και επι εζεκιαν παιδα αυτου

He also wrote letters insulting Yahweh, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”

He wrote H3789 (QalPerf) also letters H5612 to rail H2778 (PielInf) on the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel, H3478 and to speak H559 (QalInf) against him, saying, H559 (QalInf) As the gods H430 of the nations H1471 of [other] lands H776 have not delivered H5337 (HiphPerf) their people H5971 out of mine hand, H3027 so shall not the God H430 of Hezekiah H3169 deliver H5337 (HiphImpf) his people H5971 out of mine hand. H3027

και βιβλιον εγραψεν ονειδιζειν τον κυριον θεον ισραηλ και ειπεν περι αυτου λεγων ως θεοι των εθνων της γης ουκ εξειλαντο τους λαους αυτων εκ χειρος μου ουτως ου μη εξεληται ο θεος εζεκιου λαον αυτου εκ χειρος μου

They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.

And they spake H1696 (PielImpf) against H5921 the God H430 of Jerusalem, H3389 as against the gods H430 of the people H5971 of the earth, H776 [which were] the work H4639 of the hands H3027 of man. H120

και ελαλησεν επι θεον ιερουσαλημ ως και επι θεους λαων της γης εργα χειρων ανθρωπων

Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.

And for this [cause] Hezekiah H3169 the king, H4428 and the prophet H5030 Isaiah H3470 the son H1121 of Amoz, H531 prayed H6419 (HithImpf) and cried H2199 (QalImpf) to heaven. H8064

και προσηυξατο εζεκιας ο βασιλευς και ησαιας υιος αμως ο προφητης περι τουτων και εβοησαν εις τον ουρανον

But Hezekiah didn’t reciprocate appropriate to the benefit done for him, because his heart was lifted up. Therefore there was wrath on him, Judah, and Jerusalem.

But Hezekiah H3169 rendered not again H7725 (HiphPerf) according to the benefit H1576 [done] unto him; for his heart H3820 was lifted up: H1361 (QalPerf) therefore there was wrath H7110 upon him, and upon Judah H3063 and Jerusalem. H3389

και ου κατα το ανταποδομα ο εδωκεν αυτω ανταπεδωκεν εζεκιας αλλα υψωθη η καρδια αυτου και εγενετο επ αυτον οργη και επι ιουδαν και ιερουσαλημ
