as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood and his hand swings the ax to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle and hits his neighbor so that he dies—he shall flee to one of these cities and live.

εαν δε γενηται ανθρωπος μισων τον πλησιον και ενεδρευση αυτον και επαναστη επ αυτον και παταξη αυτου ψυχην και απεθανη και φυγη εις μιαν των πολεων τουτων

then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace to it.

εαν δε προσελθης προς πολιν εκπολεμησαι αυτην και εκκαλεση αυτους μετ ειρηνης

but the women, the little ones, the livestock, and all that is in the city, even all its plunder, you shall take for plunder for yourself. You may use the plunder of your enemies, which Yahweh your God has given you.

πλην των γυναικων και της αποσκευης και παντα τα κτηνη και παντα οσα αν υπαρχη εν τη πολει και πασαν την απαρτιαν προνομευσεις σεαυτω και φαγη πασαν την προνομην των εχθρων σου ων κυριος ο θεος σου διδωσιν σοι

When you shall besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them; for you may eat of them. You shall not cut them down, for is the tree of the field man, that it should be besieged by you?

Deuteronomy 20:19 Heb. to go from before thee

εαν δε περικαθισης περι πολιν ημερας πλειους εκπολεμησαι αυτην εις καταλημψιν αυτης ουχι εξολεθρευσεις τα δενδρα αυτης επιβαλειν επ αυτα σιδηρον αλλ η απ αυτου φαγη αυτο δε ουκ εκκοψεις μη ανθρωπος το ξυλον το εν τω αγρω εισελθειν απο προσωπου σου εις τον χαρακα

Only the trees that you know are not trees for food, you shall destroy and cut them down. You shall build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it falls.

Deuteronomy 20:20 Heb. it come down

αλλα ξυλον ο επιστασαι οτι ου καρποβρωτον εστιν τουτο εξολεθρευσεις και εκκοψεις και οικοδομησεις χαρακωσιν επι την πολιν ητις ποιει προς σε τον πολεμον εως αν παραδοθη

then your elders and your judges shall come out, and they shall measure to the cities which are around him who is slain.

The elders of that city shall bring the heifer down to a valley with running water, which is neither plowed nor sown, and shall break the heifer’s neck there in the valley.

και καταβιβασουσιν η γερουσια της πολεως εκεινης την δαμαλιν εις φαραγγα τραχειαν ητις ουκ ειργασται ουδε σπειρεται και νευροκοπησουσιν την δαμαλιν εν τη φαραγγι

All the elders of that city which is nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley.

and all the elders H2205 of that city, H5892 that are next H7138 unto the slain H2491 man, shall wash H7364 (QalImpf) their hands H3027 over the heifer H5697 that is beheaded H6202 (QalPasPtc) in the valley: H5158

then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city and to the gate of his place.

They shall tell the elders of his city, “This our son is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey our voice. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”

και ερουσιν τοις ανδρασιν της πολεως αυτων ο υιος ημων ουτος απειθει και ερεθιζει ουχ υπακουει της φωνης ημων συμβολοκοπων οινοφλυγει

All the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall remove the evil from among you. All Israel shall hear, and fear.

then the young lady’s father and mother shall take and bring the tokens of the young lady’s virginity to the elders of the city in the gate.

και λαβων ο πατηρ της παιδος και η μητηρ εξοισουσιν τα παρθενια της παιδος προς την γερουσιαν επι την πυλην

Behold, he has accused her of shameful things, saying, ‘I didn’t find in your daughter the tokens of virginity;’ and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity.” They shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.

and, lo, he hath given H7760 (QalPerf) occasions H5949 of speech H1697 against her, saying, H559 (QalInf) I found H4672 (QalPerf) not thy daughter H1323 a maid; H1331 and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s H1323 virginity. αυτος νυν επιτιθησιν αυτη προφασιστικους λογους λεγων ουχ ευρηκα τη θυγατρι σου παρθενια και ταυτα τα παρθενια της θυγατρος μου και αναπτυξουσιν το ιματιον εναντιον της γερουσιας της πολεως

The elders of that city shall take the man and chastise him.

And the elders H2205 of that city H5892 shall take H3947 (QalPerf) that man H376 and chastise H3256 (PielPerf) him;

και λημψεται η γερουσια της πολεως εκεινης τον ανθρωπον εκεινον και παιδευσουσιν αυτον

then they shall bring out the young lady to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done folly in Israel, to play the prostitute in her father’s house. So you shall remove the evil from among you.

then they shall bring out H3318 (HiphPerf) the damsel H5291 to the door H6607 of her father’s H1 house, H1004 and the men H582 of her city H5892 shall stone H5619 (QalPerf) her with stones H68 that she die: H4191 (QalPerf) because she hath wrought H6213 (QalPerf) folly H5039 in Israel, H3478 to play the whore H2181 (QalInf) in her father’s H1 house: H1004 so shalt thou put H1197 evil H7451 away H1197 (PielPerf) from among H7130 you.

και εξαξουσιν την νεανιν επι τας θυρας οικου πατρος αυτης και λιθοβολησουσιν αυτην οι ανδρες της πολεως αυτης εν λιθοις και αποθανειται οτι εποιησεν αφροσυνην εν υιοις ισραηλ εκπορνευσαι τον οικον του πατρος αυτης και εξαρεις τον πονηρον εξ υμων αυτων

If there is a young lady who is a virgin pledged to be married to a husband, and a man finds her in the city, and lies with her,

The second day they marched around the city once, and returned into the camp. They did this six days.
