They will eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds. They will eat up your vines and your fig trees. They will beat down your fortified cities in which you trust with the sword.

And it hath consumed thy harvest and thy bread, They consume thy sons, and thy daughters, It consumeth thy flock, and thy herd, It consumeth thy vine, and thy fig-tree, It maketh poor thy fenced cities, In which thou art trusting-by the sword.

Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O company, That which is upon them.

then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered,’ that you may do all these abominations?

And come H935 (QalPerf) and stand H5975 (QalPerf) before H6440 me in this house, H1004 which is called H7121 (NiphPerf) by my name, H8034 and say, H559 (QalPerf) We are delivered H5337 (NiphPerf) to do H6213 (QalInf) all these abominations? H8441

And ye have come in and stood before Me, In this house on which My name is called, And have said, ‘We have been delivered,’ In order to do all these abominations.

Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it,” says Yahweh.

A den of burglars hath this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Jehovah.

“But go now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

And have built the high places of Tophet, That are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, To burn their sons and their daughters with fire, Which I did not command, Nor did it come up on My heart.

They will spread them before the sun, the moon, and all the army of the sky, which they have loved, which they have served, after which they have walked, which they have sought, and which they have worshiped. They will not be gathered or be buried. They will be like dung on the surface of the earth.

Who is wise enough to understand this? Who is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has spoken, that he may declare it? Why has the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?

Who [is] the wise H2450 man, H376 that may understand H995 (QalImpf) this? and [who is he] to whom the mouth H6310 of the Lord H3068 hath spoken, H1696 (PielPerf) that he may declare H5046 (HiphImpf) it, for what the land H776 perisheth H6 (QalPerf) [and] is burned up H3341 (NiphPerf) like a wilderness, H4057 that none passeth through? Who is the wise man? and he understandeth this, And he to whom the mouth of Jehovah spake? And he doth declare it, For what hath the land perished? It hath been burnt up as a wilderness, Without any passing through.

Yahweh says, “Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice or walked in my ways,

And Jehovah saith: Because of their forsaking My law that I set before them, And they have not hearkened to My voice nor walked in it,

I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known. I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.”

And I have scattered them among nations Which they knew not, they and their fathers, And have sent after them the sword, Till I have consumed them.

Hear the word which Yahweh speaks to you, house of Israel!

Hear ye the word, O house of Israel, That Jehovah hath spoken for you.

The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:

and say to them, Yahweh, the God of Israel says: ‘Cursed is the man who doesn’t hear the words of this covenant,

and thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah God of Israel: Cursed is the man who doth not obey the words of this covenant,

which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace,’ saying, ‘Obey my voice and do them, according to all which I command you; so you shall be my people, and I will be your God;

Yet they didn’t obey, nor turn their ear, but everyone walked in the stubbornness of their evil heart. Therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they didn’t do them.’ ”

And they have not hearkened nor inclined their ear, And they walk each in the stubbornness of their evil heart, And I bring on them all the words of this covenant, That I commanded to do, and they did not.’

They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words. They have gone after other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

They have turned back to the iniquities of their first fathers, Who refused to hear My words, And they have gone after other gods to serve them, The house of Israel, and the house of Judah, Have made void My covenant, that I made with their fathers.

Therefore Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will bring evil on them which they will not be able to escape; and they will cry to me, but I will not listen to them.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Behold, I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) evil H7451 upon them, which they shall not be able H3201 (QalImpf) to escape; H3318 (QalInf) and though they shall cry H2199 (QalPerf) unto me, I will not hearken H8085 (QalImpf) unto them.

Therefore thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am bringing in unto them evil, That they are not able to go out from, And they have cried unto Me, And I do not hearken unto them.

Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to which they offer incense, but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

Then shall the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 and inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem H3389 go, H1980 (QalPerf) and cry H2199 (QalPerf) unto the gods H430 unto whom they offer incense: H6999 (PielPtc) but they shall not save H3467 (HiphImpf) them at all H3467 (HiphInf) in the time H6256 of their trouble. And the cities of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem have gone, And they have cried unto the gods, To whom they are making perfume, And they give no deliverance at all to them, In the time of their vexation.

For Yahweh of Armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done to themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.

For the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 that planted H5193 (QalActPtc) thee, hath pronounced H1696 (PielPerf) evil H7451 against thee, for H1558 the evil H7451 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 and of the house H1004 of Judah, H3063 which they have done H6213 (QalPerf) against themselves to provoke me to anger H3707 (HiphInf) in offering incense H6999 (PielInf) unto Baal. H1168

And Jehovah of Hosts, who is planting thee, Hath spoken evil concerning thee, For the evil of the house of Israel, and of the house of Judah, That they have done to themselves, To provoke Me to anger, to make perfume to Baal.

Yahweh says, “Concerning all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 against all mine evil H7451 neighbours, H7934 that touch H5060 (QalActPtc) the inheritance H5159 which I have caused my people H5971 Israel H3478 to inherit; H5157 (HiphPerf) Behold, I will pluck them out H5428 (QalActPtc) of their land, H127 and pluck out H5428 (QalImpf) the house H1004 of Judah H3063 from among H8432 them.

Thus said Jehovah concerning all my evil neighbours, who are striking against the inheritance that I caused my people-Israel-to inherit: ‘Lo, I am plucking them from off their ground, And the house of Judah I pluck out of their midst.

“Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”

Take H3947 (QalImpv) the girdle H232 that thou hast got, H7069 (QalPerf) which [is] upon thy loins, H4975 and arise, H6965 (QalImpv) go H3212 (QalImpv) to Euphrates, H6578 and hide H2934 (QalImpv) it there in a hole H5357 of the rock. H5553

‘Take the girdle that thou hast got, that is on thy loins, and rise, go to Phrat, and hide it there in a hole of the rock;

After many days, Yahweh said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.”

And it came to pass after H7093 many H7227 days, H3117 that the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Arise, H6965 (QalImpv) go H3212 (QalImpv) to Euphrates, H6578 and take H3947 (QalImpv) the girdle H232 from thence, which I commanded H6680 (PielPerf) thee to hide H2934 (QalInf) there.

And it cometh to pass, at the end of many days, that Jehovah saith unto me, ‘Rise, go to Phrat, and take thence the girdle, that I commanded thee to hide there;’

Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was ruined. It was profitable for nothing.

Then I went H3212 (QalImpf) to Euphrates, H6578 and digged, H2658 (QalImpf) and took H3947 (QalImpf) the girdle H232 from the place H4725 where I had hid H2934 (QalPerf) it: and, behold, the girdle H232 was marred, H7843 (NiphPerf) it was profitable H6743 (QalImpf) for nothing.

and I go to Phrat, and dig, and take the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and lo, the girdle hath been marred, it is not profitable for anything.

This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods to serve them and to worship them, will even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.

This evil H7451 people, H5971 which refuse H3987 to hear H8085 (QalInf) my words, H1697 which walk H1980 (QalActPtc) in the imagination H8307 of their heart, H3820 and walk H3212 (QalImpf) after H310 other H312 gods, H430 to serve H5647 (QalInf) them, and to worship H7812 (HithInf) them, shall even be as this girdle, H232 which is good H6743 (QalImpf) for nothing.

This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, Who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, And go after other gods to serve them, And to bow themselves to them, Yea it is-as this girdle, that is not profitable for anything.

This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me,” says Yahweh, “because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.”

This [is] thy lot, H1486 the portion H4490 of thy measures H4055 from me, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord; H3068 because thou hast forgotten H7911 (QalPerf) me, and trusted H982 (QalImpf) in falsehood. H8267

This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from Me-an affirmation of Jehovah, Because thou hast forgotten me, And dost trust in falsehood.

This is Yahweh’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:

The word H1697 of the Lord H3068 that came to Jeremiah H3414 concerning H1697 the dearth. H1226

That which hath been the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah concerning the matters of the dearths:

The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.

And the people H5971 to whom they prophesy H5012 (NiphPtc) shall be cast out H7993 (HophPtc) in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem H3389 because H6440 of the famine H7458 and the sword; H2719 and they shall have none to bury H6912 (PielPtc) them, H1992 them, their wives, H802 nor their sons, H1121 nor their daughters: H1323 for I will pour H8210 (QalPerf) their wickedness H7451 upon them.

And the people to whom they are prophesying, Are cast into out-places of Jerusalem, Because of the famine, and of the sword, And they have none burying them, Them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, And I have poured out upon them this evil.

I will cause them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.

And I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem.

It will happen, when you tell this people all these words, and they ask you, ‘Why has Yahweh pronounced all this great evil against us?’ or ‘What is our iniquity?’ or ‘What is our sin that we have committed against Yahweh our God?’

And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew H5046 (HiphImpf) this people H5971 all these words, H1697 and they shall say H559 (QalPerf) unto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord H3068 pronounced H1696 (PielPerf) all this great H1419 evil H7451 against us? or what [is] our iniquity? And it hath come to pass when thou declarest to this people all these words, and they have said unto thee, ‘For what hath Jehovah spoken against us all this great evil? yea, what is our iniquity, and what our sin, that we have sinned against Jehovah our God?’

then you shall tell them, ‘Because your fathers have forsaken me,’ says Yahweh, ‘and have walked after other gods, have served them, have worshiped them, have forsaken me, and have not kept my law.

Then thou hast said unto them: Because that your fathers have forsaken Me, An affirmation of Jehovah, And go after other gods, and serve them, And they bow themselves to them, And Me have forsaken, and My law not kept,

Therefore I will cast you out of this land into the land that you have not known, neither you nor your fathers. There you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’

“Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that it will no more be said, ‘As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;’

but, ‘As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries where he had driven them.’ I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.

But, The Lord H3068 liveth, H2416 that brought up H5927 (HiphPerf) the children H1121 of Israel H3478 from the land H776 of the north, H6828 and from all the lands H776 whither he had driven H5080 (HiphPerf) them: and I will bring them again H7725 (HiphPerf) into their land H127 that I gave H5414 (QalPerf) unto their fathers. But, ‘Jehovah liveth, who brought up The sons of Israel out of the land of the north, And out of all the lands whither He drove them,’ And I have brought them back to their land, That I gave to their fathers.

You, even of yourself, will discontinue from your heritage that I gave you. I will cause you to serve your enemies in the land which you don’t know, for you have kindled a fire in my anger which will burn forever.”

And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue H8058 (QalPerf) from thine heritage H5159 that I gave H5414 (QalPerf) thee; and I will cause thee to serve H5647 (HiphPerf) thine enemies H341 (QalActPtc) in the land H776 which thou knowest H3045 (QalPerf) not: for ye have kindled H6919 (QalPerf) a fire H784 in mine anger, H639 [which] shall burn H3344 (HophImpf) for H5704 ever. H5769

And thou hast let go-even through thyself, Of thine inheritance that I gave to thee, And I have caused thee to serve thine enemies, In a land that thou hast not known, For a fire ye have kindled in Mine anger, Unto the age it doth burn.

Yahweh says: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man, relies on strength of flesh, and whose heart departs from Yahweh.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Cursed H779 (QalPasPtc) [be] the man H1397 that trusteth H982 (QalImpf) in man, H120 and maketh H7760 (QalPerf) flesh H1320 his arm, H2220 and whose heart H3820 departeth H5493 (QalImpf) from the Lord. H3068

Thus said Jehovah: Cursed is the man who doth trust in man, And hath made flesh his arm, And from Jehovah whose heart turneth.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, and whose confidence is in Yahweh.

Blessed H1288 (QalPasPtc) [is] the man H1397 that trusteth H982 (QalImpf) in the Lord, H3068 and whose hope H4009 the Lord H3068 is.

Blessed is the man who trusteth in Jehovah, And whose confidence hath been Jehovah.

Yahweh said this to me: “Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, through which the kings of Judah come in and by which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem.

Thus said Jehovah unto me: ‘Go, and thou hast stood in the gate of the sons of the people, by which kings of Judah come in, and by which they go out, and in all gates of Jerusalem,

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

The word H1697 which came to Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf)

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,

if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.

If that nation, H1471 against whom I have pronounced, H1696 (PielPerf) turn H7725 (QalPerf) from their evil, H7451 I will repent H5162 (NiphPerf) of the evil H7451 that I thought H2803 (QalPerf) to do H6213 (QalInf) unto them.

And that nation hath turned from its evil, Because I have spoken against it, Then I have repented of the evil that I thought to do to it.

if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they not obey my voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would benefit them.

If it do H6213 (QalPerf) evil H7451 in my sight, H5869 that it obey H8085 (QalInf) not my voice, H6963 then I will repent H5162 (NiphPerf) of the good, H2896 wherewith I said H559 (QalPerf) I would benefit H3190 (HiphInf) them.

And it hath done the evil thing in Mine eyes, So as not to hearken to My voice, Then I have repented of the good That I have spoken of doing to it.

and go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I will tell you.

and thou hast gone forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, that is at the opening of the gate of the pottery, and hast proclaimed there the words that I speak unto thee,
