From the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, Yahweh blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake. Yahweh’s blessing was on all that he had, in the house and in the field.

And it came to pass from the time H227 [that] he had made him overseer H6485 (HiphPerf) in his house, H1004 and over all that he had, H3426 that the Lord H3068 blessed H1288 (PielImpf) the Egyptian’s H4713 house H1004 for Joseph’s H3130 sake; H1558 and the blessing H1293 of the Lord H3068 was upon all that he had H3426 in the house, H1004 and in the field. εγενετο δε μετα το κατασταθηναι αυτον επι του οικου αυτου και επι παντα οσα ην αυτω και ηυλογησεν κυριος τον οικον του αιγυπτιου δια ιωσηφ και εγενηθη ευλογια κυριου εν πασιν τοις υπαρχουσιν αυτω εν τω οικω και εν τω αγρω

But he refused, and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, my master doesn’t know what is with me in the house, and he has put all that he has into my hand.

ο δε ουκ ηθελεν ειπεν δε τη γυναικι του κυριου αυτου ει ο κυριος μου ου γινωσκει δι εμε ουδεν εν τω οικω αυτου και παντα οσα εστιν αυτω εδωκεν εις τας χειρας μου

No one is greater in this house than I am, and he has not kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”

[There is] none greater H1419 in this house H1004 than I; neither H3808 hath he kept back H2820 (QalPerf) any thing H3972 from me but thee, because H834 thou H859 [art] his wife: H802 how then can I do H6213 (QalImpf) this great H1419 wickedness, H7451 and sin H2398 (QalPerf) against God? H430

και ουχ υπερεχει εν τη οικια ταυτη ουθεν εμου ουδε υπεξηρηται απ εμου ουδεν πλην σου δια το σε γυναικα αυτου ειναι και πως ποιησω το ρημα το πονηρον τουτο και αμαρτησομαι εναντιον του θεου

About this time, he went into the house to do his work, and there were none of the men of the house inside.

And it came to pass about this time, H3117 that [Joseph] went H935 (QalImpf) into the house H1004 to do H6213 (QalInf) his business; H4399 and [there was] none of the men H376 H582 of the house H1004 there within.

εγενετο δε τοιαυτη τις ημερα εισηλθεν ιωσηφ εις την οικιαν ποιειν τα εργα αυτου και ουθεις ην των εν τη οικια εσω

she called to the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, “Behold, he has brought a Hebrew in to us to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice.

That she called H7121 (QalImpf) unto the men H582 of her house, H1004 and spake H559 (QalImpf) unto them, saying, H559 (QalInf) See, H7200 (QalImpv) he hath brought in H935 (HiphPerf) an Hebrew H376 H5680 unto us to mock H6711 (PielInf) us; he came in H935 (QalPerf) unto me to lie H7901 (QalInf) with me, and I cried H7121 (QalImpf) with a loud H1419 voice: H6963

και εκαλεσεν τους οντας εν τη οικια και ειπεν αυτοις λεγουσα ιδετε εισηγαγεν ημιν παιδα εβραιον εμπαιζειν ημιν εισηλθεν προς με λεγων κοιμηθητι μετ εμου και εβοησα φωνη μεγαλη

She laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.

And she laid up H3240 (HiphImpf) his garment H899 by her, H681 until his lord H113 came H935 (QalInf) home. H1004

και καταλιμπανει τα ιματια παρ εαυτη εως ηλθεν ο κυριος εις τον οικον αυτου

Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were bound, and he was there in custody.

And Joseph’s H3130 master H113 took H3947 (QalImpf) him, and put him H5414 (QalImpf) into the prison, H1004 H5470 a place H4725 where the king’s H4428 prisoners H615 [were] bound: H631 (QalPasPtc) and he was there in the prison. H1004 H5470

και λαβων ο κυριος ιωσηφ ενεβαλεν αυτον εις το οχυρωμα εις τον τοπον εν ω οι δεσμωται του βασιλεως κατεχονται εκει εν τω οχυρωματι

But Yahweh was with Joseph, and showed kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

But the Lord H3068 was with Joseph, H3130 and shewed H5186 (QalImpf) him mercy, H2617 and gave H5414 (QalImpf) him favour H2580 in the sight H5869 of the keeper H8269 of the prison. H1004 H5470

και ην κυριος μετα ιωσηφ και κατεχεεν αυτου ελεος και εδωκεν αυτω χαριν εναντιον του αρχιδεσμοφυλακος

The keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever they did there, he was responsible for it.

And the keeper H8269 of the prison H1004 H5470 committed H5414 (QalImpf) to Joseph’s H3130 hand H3027 all the prisoners H615 that [were] in the prison; H1004 H5470 and whatsoever they did H6213 (QalActPtc) there, he was the doer H6213 (QalActPtc) [of it].

και εδωκεν ο αρχιδεσμοφυλαξ το δεσμωτηριον δια χειρος ιωσηφ και παντας τους απηγμενους οσοι εν τω δεσμωτηριω και παντα οσα ποιουσιν εκει

The keeper of the prison didn’t look after anything that was under his hand, because Yahweh was with him; and that which he did, Yahweh made it prosper.

The keeper H8269 of the prison H1004 H5470 looked H7200 (QalActPtc) not to any thing H3972 [that was] under his hand; H3027 because the Lord H3068 was with him, and [that] which he did, H6213 (QalActPtc) the Lord H3068 made [it] to prosper. H6743 (HiphPtc)

ουκ ην ο αρχιδεσμοφυλαξ του δεσμωτηριου γινωσκων δι αυτον ουθεν παντα γαρ ην δια χειρος ιωσηφ δια το τον κυριον μετ αυτου ειναι και οσα αυτος εποιει κυριος ευωδου εν ταις χερσιν αυτου

He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

And he put H5414 (QalImpf) them in ward H4929 in the house H1004 of the captain H8269 of the guard, H2876 into the prison, H1004 H5470 the place H4725 where Joseph H3130 [was] bound. H631 (QalPasPtc)

και εθετο αυτους εν φυλακη παρα τω δεσμοφυλακι εις το δεσμωτηριον εις τον τοπον ου ιωσηφ απηκτο εκει

They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cup bearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.

και ειδον αμφοτεροι ενυπνιον εκατερος ενυπνιον εν μια νυκτι ορασις του ενυπνιου αυτου ο αρχιοινοχοος και ο αρχισιτοποιος οι ησαν τω βασιλει αιγυπτου οι οντες εν τω δεσμωτηριω

He asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”

And he asked H7592 (QalImpf) Pharaoh’s H6547 officers H5631 that [were] with him in the ward H4929 of his lord’s H113 house, H1004 saying, H559 (QalInf) Wherefore look H6440 ye [so] sadly H7451 to day? H3117

και ηρωτα τους ευνουχους φαραω οι ησαν μετ αυτου εν τη φυλακη παρα τω κυριω αυτου λεγων τι οτι τα προσωπα υμων σκυθρωπα σημερον

But remember me when it is well with you. Please show kindness to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.

But think H2142 (QalPerf) on me when it shall be well H3190 (QalImpf) with thee, and shew H6213 (QalPerf) kindness, H2617 I pray thee, unto me, and make mention H2142 (HiphPerf) of me unto Pharaoh, H6547 and bring me H3318 (HiphPerf) out of this house: H1004

αλλα μνησθητι μου δια σεαυτου οταν ευ σοι γενηται και ποιησεις εν εμοι ελεος και μνησθηση περι εμου φαραω και εξαξεις με εκ του οχυρωματος τουτου

Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and put me in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, with the chief baker.

Pharaoh H6547 was wroth H7107 (QalPerf) with his servants, H5650 and put H5414 (QalImpf) me in ward H4929 in the captain H8269 of the guard’s H2876 house, H1004 [both] me and the chief H8269 baker: H644 (QalActPtc)

φαραω ωργισθη τοις παισιν αυτου και εθετο ημας εν φυλακη εν τω οικω του αρχιμαγειρου εμε τε και τον αρχισιτοποιον

You shall be over my house. All my people will be ruled according to your word. Only in the throne I will be greater than you.”

Thou shalt be H1961 (QalImpf) over my house, H1004 and according unto thy word H6310 shall all my people H5971 be ruled: H5401 (QalImpf) only in the throne H3678 will I be greater H1431 (QalImpf) than thou.

συ εση επι τω οικω μου και επι τω στοματι σου υπακουσεται πας ο λαος μου πλην τον θρονον υπερεξω σου εγω

Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh,° “For”, he said, “God has made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.”

Genesis 41:51 “Manasseh” sounds like the Hebrew for “forget”.

And Joseph H3130 called H7121 (QalImpf) the name H8034 of the firstborn H1060 Manasseh: H4519 For God, H430 [said he], hath made me forget H5382 (PielPerf) all my toil, H5999 and all my father’s H1 house. H1004

εκαλεσεν δε ιωσηφ το ονομα του πρωτοτοκου μανασση οτι επιλαθεσθαι με εποιησεν ο θεος παντων των πονων μου και παντων των του πατρος μου

If you are honest men, then let one of your brothers be bound in your prison; but you go, carry grain for the famine of your houses.

If ye [be] true H3651 [men], let one H259 of your brethren H251 be bound H631 (NiphImpf) in the house H1004 of your prison: H4929 go H3212 (QalImpv) ye, carry H935 (HiphImpv) corn H7668 for the famine H7459 of your houses: H1004

ει ειρηνικοι εστε αδελφος υμων εις κατασχεθητω εν τη φυλακη αυτοι δε βαδισατε και απαγαγετε τον αγορασμον της σιτοδοσιας υμων

The man, the lord of the land, said to us, ‘By this I will know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me, and take grain for the famine of your houses, and go your way.

And the man, H376 the lord H113 of the country, H776 said H559 (QalImpf) unto us, Hereby shall I know H3045 (QalImpf) that ye [are] true H3651 [men]; leave H3240 (HiphImpv) one H259 of your brethren H251 [here] with me, and take H3947 (QalImpv) [food for] the famine H7459 of your households, H1004 and be gone: H3212 (QalImpv)

ειπεν δε ημιν ο ανθρωπος ο κυριος της γης εν τουτω γνωσομαι οτι ειρηνικοι εστε αδελφον ενα αφετε ωδε μετ εμου τον δε αγορασμον της σιτοδοσιας του οικου υμων λαβοντες απελθατε

When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, “Bring the men into the house, and butcher an animal, and prepare; for the men will dine with me at noon.”

And when Joseph H3130 saw H7200 (QalImpf) Benjamin H1144 with H854 them, he said H559 (QalImpf) to the ruler of his house, H1004 Bring H935 (HiphImpv) [these] men H582 home, H1004 and slay, H2873 (QalInf) H2874 and make ready; H3559 (HiphImpv) for [these] men H582 shall dine H398 (QalImpf) with me at noon. ειδεν δε ιωσηφ αυτους και τον βενιαμιν τον αδελφον αυτου τον ομομητριον και ειπεν τω επι της οικιας αυτου εισαγαγε τους ανθρωπους εις την οικιαν και σφαξον θυματα και ετοιμασον μετ εμου γαρ φαγονται οι ανθρωποι αρτους την μεσημβριαν

The man did as Joseph commanded, and the man brought the men to Joseph’s house.

And the man H376 did H6213 (QalImpf) as Joseph H3130 bade; H559 (QalPerf) and the man H376 brought H935 (HiphImpf) the men H582 into Joseph’s H3130 house. H1004

εποιησεν δε ο ανθρωπος καθα ειπεν ιωσηφ και εισηγαγεν τους ανθρωπους εις τον οικον ιωσηφ

The men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, “Because of the money that was returned in our sacks the first time, we’re brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, attack us, and seize us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”

ιδοντες δε οι ανθρωποι οτι εισηχθησαν εις τον οικον ιωσηφ ειπαν δια το αργυριον το αποστραφεν εν τοις μαρσιπποις ημων την αρχην ημεις εισαγομεθα του συκοφαντησαι ημας και επιθεσθαι ημιν του λαβειν ημας εις παιδας και τους ονους ημων

They came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they spoke to him at the door of the house,

And they came near H5066 (QalImpf) to the steward H376 of Joseph’s H3130 house, H1004 and they communed H1696 (PielImpf) with him at the door H6607 of the house, H1004

προσελθοντες δε προς τον ανθρωπον τον επι του οικου ιωσηφ ελαλησαν αυτω εν τω πυλωνι του οικου

The man brought the men into Joseph’s house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet. He gave their donkeys fodder.

And the man H376 brought H935 (HiphImpf) the men H582 into Joseph’s H3130 house, H1004 and gave H5414 (QalImpf) [them] water, H4325 and they washed H7364 (QalImpf) their feet; H7272 and he gave H5414 (QalImpf) their asses H2543 provender. H4554

και ηνεγκεν υδωρ νιψαι τους ποδας αυτων και εδωκεν χορτασματα τοις ονοις αυτων

When Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves down to the earth before him.

And when Joseph H3130 came H935 (QalImpf) home, H1004 they brought H935 (HiphImpf) him the present H4503 which [was] in their hand H3027 into the house, H1004 and bowed H7812 (HithImpf) themselves to him to the earth. H776

εισηλθεν δε ιωσηφ εις την οικιαν και προσηνεγκαν αυτω τα δωρα α ειχον εν ταις χερσιν αυτων εις τον οικον και προσεκυνησαν αυτω επι προσωπον επι την γην

He commanded the steward of his house, saying, “Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man’s money in his sack’s mouth.

And he commanded H6680 (PielImpf) the steward of his house, H1004 saying, H559 (QalInf) Fill H4390 (PielImpv) the men’s H582 sacks H572 [with] food, H400 as much as H834 they can H3201 (QalImpf) carry, H5375 (QalInf) and put H7760 (QalImpv) every man’s H376 money H3701 in his sack’s H572 mouth. και ενετειλατο ιωσηφ τω οντι επι της οικιας αυτου λεγων πλησατε τους μαρσιππους των ανθρωπων βρωματων οσα εαν δυνωνται αραι και εμβαλατε εκαστου το αργυριον επι του στοματος του μαρσιππου

When they had gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, “Up, follow after the men. When you overtake them, ask them, ‘Why have you rewarded evil for good?

[And] when they were gone out H3318 (QalPerf) of the city, H5892 [and] not [yet] far off, H7368 (HiphPerf) Joseph H3130 said H559 (QalPerf) unto his steward, H1004 Up, H6965 (QalImpv) follow H7291 (QalImpv) after H310 the men; H582 and when thou dost overtake H5381 (HiphPerf) them, say H559 (QalPerf) unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded H7999 (PielPerf) evil H7451 for good? εξελθοντων δε αυτων την πολιν ουκ απεσχον μακραν και ιωσηφ ειπεν τω επι της οικιας αυτου αναστας επιδιωξον οπισω των ανθρωπων και καταλημψη αυτους και ερεις αυτοις τι οτι ανταπεδωκατε πονηρα αντι καλων

Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again to you out of the land of Canaan. How then should we steal silver or gold out of your lord’s house?

Behold, the money, H3701 which we found H4672 (QalPerf) in our sacks’ H572 mouths, H6310 we brought again H7725 (HiphPerf) unto thee out of the land H776 of Canaan: H3667 how then should we steal H1589 (QalImpf) out of thy lord’s H113 house H1004 silver H3701 or gold? H2091

ει το μεν αργυριον ο ευρομεν εν τοις μαρσιπποις ημων απεστρεψαμεν προς σε εκ γης χανααν πως αν κλεψαιμεν εκ του οικου του κυριου σου αργυριον η χρυσιον

Judah and his brothers came to Joseph’s house, and he was still there. They fell on the ground before him.

And Judah H3063 and his brethren H251 came H935 (QalImpf) to Joseph’s H3130 house; H1004 for he [was] yet there: and they fell H5307 (QalImpf) before him H6440 on the ground. H776

εισηλθεν δε ιουδας και οι αδελφοι αυτου προς ιωσηφ ετι αυτου οντος εκει και επεσον εναντιον αυτου επι την γην

He wept aloud. The Egyptians heard, and the house of Pharaoh heard.

And he wept H6963 H1065 aloud: H5414 (QalImpf) and the Egyptians H4714 and the house H1004 of Pharaoh H6547 heard. H8085 (QalImpf) H8085 (QalImpf)

και αφηκεν φωνην μετα κλαυθμου ηκουσαν δε παντες οι αιγυπτιοι και ακουστον εγενετο εις τον οικον φαραω

So now it wasn’t you who sent me here, but God, and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

So now [it was] not you [that] sent H7971 (QalPerf) me hither, but God: H430 and he hath made H7760 (QalImpf) me a father H1 to Pharaoh, H6547 and lord H113 of all his house, H1004 and a ruler H4910 (QalActPtc) throughout all the land H776 of Egypt. H4714

νυν ουν ουχ υμεις με απεσταλκατε ωδε αλλ η ο θεος και εποιησεν με ως πατερα φαραω και κυριον παντος του οικου αυτου και αρχοντα πασης γης αιγυπτου

There I will provide for you; for there are yet five years of famine; lest you come to poverty, you, and your household, and all that you have.” ’

And there will I nourish H3557 (PilpPerf) thee; for yet [there are] five H2568 years H8141 of famine; H7458 lest thou, and thy household, H1004 and all that thou hast, come to poverty. H3423 (NiphImpf)

και εκθρεψω σε εκει ετι γαρ πεντε ετη λιμος ινα μη εκτριβης συ και οι υιοι σου και παντα τα υπαρχοντα σου

The report of it was heard in Pharaoh’s house, saying, “Joseph’s brothers have come.” It pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

And the fame H6963 thereof was heard H8085 (NiphPerf) in Pharaoh’s H6547 house, H1004 saying, H559 (QalInf) Joseph’s H3130 brethren H251 are come: H935 (QalPerf) and it pleased H3190 H5869 Pharaoh H6547 well, H3190 (QalImpf) H5869 and H5869 his servants. H5650

και διεβοηθη η φωνη εις τον οικον φαραω λεγοντες ηκασιν οι αδελφοι ιωσηφ εχαρη δε φαραω και η θεραπεια αυτου

Take your father and your households, and come to me, and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land.’

And take H3947 (QalImpv) your father H1 and your households, H1004 and come H935 (QalImpv) unto me: and I will give H5414 (QalImpf) you the good H2898 of the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 and ye shall eat H398 (QalImpv) the fat H2459 of the land. H776

και παραλαβοντες τον πατερα υμων και τα υπαρχοντα υμων ηκετε προς με και δωσω υμιν παντων των αγαθων αιγυπτου και φαγεσθε τον μυελον της γης

The sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, who came into Egypt, were seventy.

And the sons H1121 of Joseph, H3130 which were born H3205 (PualPerf) him in Egypt, H4714 [were] two H8147 souls: H5315 all the souls H5315 of the house H1004 of Jacob, H3290 which came H935 (QalActPtc) into Egypt, H4714 [were] threescore and ten. H7657

υιοι δε ιωσηφ οι γενομενοι αυτω εν γη αιγυπτω ψυχαι εννεα πασαι ψυχαι οικου ιακωβ αι εισελθουσαι εις αιγυπτον εβδομηκοντα πεντε

Joseph said to his brothers, and to his father’s house, “I will go up, and speak with Pharaoh, and will tell him, ‘My brothers, and my father’s house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

And Joseph H3130 said H559 (QalImpf) unto his brethren, H251 and unto his father’s H1 house, H1004 I will go up, H5927 (QalImpf) and shew H5046 (HiphImpf) Pharaoh, H6547 and say H559 (QalImpf) unto him, My brethren, H251 and my father’s H1 house, H1004 which [were] in the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 are come H935 (QalPerf) unto me;

ειπεν δε ιωσηφ προς τους αδελφους αυτου αναβας απαγγελω τω φαραω και ερω αυτω οι αδελφοι μου και ο οικος του πατρος μου οι ησαν εν γη χανααν ηκασιν προς με

Joseph provided his father, his brothers, and all of his father’s household with bread, according to the sizes of their families.

And Joseph H3130 nourished H3557 (PilpImpf) his father, H1 and his brethren, H251 and all his father’s H1 household, H1004 with bread, H3899 according H6310 to [their] families. H2945

και εσιτομετρει ιωσηφ τω πατρι και τοις αδελφοις αυτου και παντι τω οικω του πατρος αυτου σιτον κατα σωμα

Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.

And Joseph H3130 gathered up H3950 (PielImpf) all the money H3701 that was found H4672 (NiphPtc) in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 and in the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 for the corn H7668 which they bought: H7666 (QalActPtc) and Joseph H3130 brought H935 (HiphImpf) the money H3701 into Pharaoh’s H6547 house. H1004

συνηγαγεν δε ιωσηφ παν το αργυριον το ευρεθεν εν γη αιγυπτου και εν γη χανααν του σιτου ου ηγοραζον και εσιτομετρει αυτοις και εισηνεγκεν ιωσηφ παν το αργυριον εις τον οικον φαραω

It will happen at the harvests, that you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four parts will be your own, for seed of the field, for your food, for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.”

And it shall come to pass in the increase, H8393 that ye shall give H5414 (QalPerf) the fifth H2549 [part] unto Pharaoh, H6547 and four H702 parts H3027 shall be your own, for seed H2233 of the field, H7704 and for your food, H400 and for them of your households, H1004 and for food H398 (QalInf) for your little ones. και εσται τα γενηματα αυτης δωσετε το πεμπτον μερος τω φαραω τα δε τεσσαρα μερη εσται υμιν αυτοις εις σπερμα τη γη και εις βρωσιν υμιν και πασιν τοις εν τοις οικοις υμων

επειδη δε παρηλθον αι ημεραι του πενθους ελαλησεν ιωσηφ προς τους δυναστας φαραω λεγων ει ευρον χαριν εναντιον υμων λαλησατε περι εμου εις τα ωτα φαραω λεγοντες

Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, all the elders of the land of Egypt,

αιτησει γυνη παρα γειτονος και συσκηνου αυτης σκευη αργυρα και χρυσα και ιματισμον και επιθησετε επι τους υιους υμων και επι τας θυγατερας υμων και σκυλευσετε τους αιγυπτιους

Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he didn’t even take this to heart.

The river will swarm with frogs, which will go up and come into your house, and into your bedroom, and on your bed, and into the house of your servants, and on your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading troughs.
