την πολλην ταυτην υβριν τους μη βουλομενους υπακουειν των λογων μου και πορευθεντας οπισω θεων αλλοτριων του δουλευειν αυτοις και του προσκυνειν αυτοις και εσονται ωσπερ το περιζωμα τουτο ο ου χρησθησεται εις ουθεν

“Therefore you shall speak to them this word: ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel says, “Every container should be filled with wine.”’ They will tell you, ‘Do we not certainly know that every container should be filled with wine?’

For Yahweh says concerning the sons and concerning the daughters who are born in this place, and concerning their mothers who bore them, and concerning their fathers who became their father in this land:

Both great and small will die in this land. They will not be buried. Men won’t lament for them, cut themselves, or make themselves bald for them.

It will happen, when you tell this people all these words, and they ask you, ‘Why has Yahweh pronounced all this great evil against us?’ or ‘What is our iniquity?’ or ‘What is our sin that we have committed against Yahweh our God?’

“Therefore behold, I will cause them to know, this once I will cause them to know my hand and my might. Then they will know that my name is Yahweh.”

then there will enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on David’s throne, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city will remain forever.

I will make this city an astonishment and a hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.

and shall tell them, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “Even so I will break this people and this city as one breaks a potter’s vessel, that can’t be made whole again. They will bury in Topheth until there is no place to bury.

και ερεις ταδε λεγει κυριος ουτως συντριψω τον λαον τουτον και την πολιν ταυτην καθως συντριβεται αγγος οστρακινον ο ου δυνησεται ιαθηναι ετι

This is what I will do to this place,” says Yahweh, “and to its inhabitants, even making this city as Topheth.

“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says, ‘Behold, I will bring on this city and on all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have made their neck stiff, that they may not hear my words.’”

Afterward,” says Yahweh, “I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants, and the people, even those who are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life. He will strike them with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them, have pity, or have mercy.”’

He who remains in this city will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, but he who goes out and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he will live, and he will escape with his life.

He that abideth H3427 (QalActPtc) in this city H5892 shall die H4191 (QalImpf) by the sword, H2719 and by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence: H1698 but he that goeth out, H3318 (QalActPtc) and falleth H5307 (QalPerf) to the Chaldeans H3778 that besiege H6696 (QalActPtc) you, he shall live, H2421 (QalPerf) (Qere) H2421 (QalImpf) and his life H5315 shall be unto him for a prey. ο καθημενος εν τη πολει ταυτη αποθανειται εν μαχαιρα και εν λιμω και ο εκπορευομενος προσχωρησαι προς τους χαλδαιους τους συγκεκλεικοτας υμας ζησεται και εσται η ψυχη αυτου εις σκυλα και ζησεται

For I have set my face on this city for evil, and not for good,” says Yahweh. “It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire.”’

“Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor, ‘Why has Yahweh done this to this great city?’

και διελευσονται εθνη δια της πολεως ταυτης και ερουσιν εκαστος προς τον πλησιον αυτου δια τι εποιησεν κυριος ουτως τη πολει τη μεγαλη ταυτη

But he will die in the place where they have led him captive. He will see this land no more.”

αλλ η εν τω τοπω ου μετωκισα αυτον εκει αποθανειται και την γην ταυτην ουκ οψεται ετι

For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land. I will build them, and not pull them down. I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

“‘As the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, they are so bad,’ surely Yahweh says, ‘So I will give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,” says Yahweh, “and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around. I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.’”

Why have you prophesied in Yahweh’s name, saying, ‘This house will be like Shiloh, and this city will be desolate, without inhabitant’?” All the people were crowded around Jeremiah in Yahweh’s house.

Why hast thou prophesied H5012 (NiphPerf) in the name H8034 of the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) This house H1004 shall be like Shiloh, H7887 and this city H5892 shall be desolate H2717 (QalImpf) without an inhabitant? H3427 (QalActPtc) And all the people H5971 were gathered H6950 (NiphImpf) against Jeremiah H3414 in the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

Then the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying, “This man is worthy of death, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.”

Jeremiah 26:11 Heb. The judgment of death is for this man

^[33:11] και ειπαν οι ιερεις και οι ψευδοπροφηται προς τους αρχοντας και παντι τω λαω κρισις θανατου τω ανθρωπω τουτω οτι επροφητευσεν κατα της πολεως ταυτης καθως ηκουσατε εν τοις ωσιν υμων

Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying, “Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

Then spake H559 (QalImpf) Jeremiah H3414 unto all the princes H8269 and to all the people, H5971 saying, H559 (QalInf) The Lord H3068 sent H7971 (QalPerf) me to prophesy H5012 (NiphInf) against this house H1004 and against this city H5892 all the words H1697 that ye have heard. H8085 (QalPerf)

^[33:12] και ειπεν ιερεμιας προς τους αρχοντας και παντι τω λαω λεγων κυριος απεστειλεν με προφητευσαι επι τον οικον τουτον και επι την πολιν ταυτην παντας τους λογους τουτους ους ηκουσατε

Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its inhabitants; for in truth Yahweh has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”

But know H3045 (QalImpf) ye for certain, H3045 (QalInf) that if ye put me to death, H4191 (HiphPtc) ye shall surely bring H5414 (QalActPtc) innocent H5355 blood H1818 upon yourselves, and upon this city, H5892 and upon the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) thereof: for of a truth H571 the Lord H3068 hath sent H7971 (QalPerf) me unto you to speak H1696 (PielInf) all these words H1697 in your ears. ^[33:15] αλλ η γνοντες γνωσεσθε οτι ει αναιρειτε με αιμα αθωον διδοτε εφ υμας και επι την πολιν ταυτην και επι τους κατοικουντας εν αυτη οτι εν αληθεια απεσταλκεν με κυριος προς υμας λαλησαι εις τα ωτα υμων παντας τους λογους τουτους

There was also a man who prophesied in Yahweh’s name, Uriah the son of Shemaiah of Kiriath Jearim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah.

And there was also a man H376 that prophesied H5012 (HithPtc) in the name H8034 of the Lord, H3068 Urijah H223 the son H1121 of Shemaiah H8098 of Kirjath-jearim, H7157 who prophesied H5012 (NiphImpf) against this city H5892 and against this land H776 according to all the words H1697 of Jeremiah: H3414

^[33:20] και ανθρωπος ην προφητευων τω ονοματι κυριου ουριας υιος σαμαιου εκ καριαθιαριμ και επροφητευσεν περι της γης ταυτης κατα παντας τους λογους ιερεμιου

Don’t listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon, and live. Why should this city become a desolation?

Hearken H8085 (QalImpf) not unto them; serve H5647 (QalImpv) the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and live: H2421 (QalImpv) wherefore should this city H5892 be laid waste? H2723

For Yahweh of Armies says concerning the pillars, concerning the sea, concerning the bases, and concerning the rest of the vessels that are left in this city,

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts H6635 concerning the pillars, H5982 and concerning the sea, H3220 and concerning the bases, H4350 and concerning the residue H3499 of the vessels H3627 that remain H3498 (NiphPtc) in this city, H5892

^[34:19] οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος και των επιλοιπων σκευων

Yahweh says concerning the king who sits on David’s throne, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who haven’t gone with you into captivity,

know that thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of the king H4428 that sitteth H3427 (QalActPtc) upon the throne H3678 of David, H1732 and of all the people H5971 that dwelleth H3427 (QalActPtc) in this city, H5892 and of your brethren H251 that are not gone forth H3318 (QalPerf) with you into captivity; H1473

On this I awakened, and saw; and my sleep was sweet to me.

Upon this I awaked, H6974 (HiphPerf) and beheld; H7200 (QalImpf) and my sleep H8142 was sweet H6149 (QalPerf) unto me.

^[38:26] δια τουτο εξηγερθην και ειδον και ο υπνος μου ηδυς μοι εγενηθη

“But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says Yahweh: “I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

^[38:33] οτι αυτη η διαθηκη ην διαθησομαι τω οικω ισραηλ μετα τας ημερας εκεινας φησιν κυριος διδους δωσω νομους μου εις την διανοιαν αυτων και επι καρδιας αυτων γραψω αυτους και εσομαι αυτοις εις θεον και αυτοι εσονται μοι εις λαον

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, “Why do you prophesy, and say, ‘Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

For Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063 had shut him up, H3607 (QalPerf) saying, H559 (QalInf) Wherefore dost thou prophesy, H5012 (NiphPtc) and say, H559 (QalInf) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Behold, I will give H5414 (QalActPtc) this city H5892 into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall take H3920 (QalPerf) it;

^[39:3] εν η κατεκλεισεν αυτον ο βασιλευς σεδεκιας λεγων δια τι συ προφητευεις λεγων ουτως ειπεν κυριος ιδου εγω διδωμι την πολιν ταυτην εν χερσιν βασιλεως βαβυλωνος και λημψεται αυτην

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Houses and fields and vineyards will yet again be bought in this land.’

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Houses H1004 and fields H7704 and vineyards H3754 shall be possessed again H7069 (NiphImpf) in this land. H776

^[39:15] οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος ετι κτηθησονται αγροι και οικιαι και αμπελωνες εν τη γη ταυτη

and gave them this land, which you swore to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey.

and hast given H5414 (QalImpf) them this land, H776 which thou didst swear H7650 (NiphPerf) to their fathers H1 to give H5414 (QalInf) them, a land H776 flowing H2100 (QalActPtc) with milk H2461 and honey; H1706

^[39:22] και εδωκας αυτοις την γην ταυτην ην ωμοσας τοις πατρασιν αυτων γην ρεουσαν γαλα και μελι

They came in and possessed it, but they didn’t obey your voice and didn’t walk in your law. They have done nothing of all that you commanded them to do. Therefore you have caused all this evil to come upon them.

and they came in, H935 (QalImpf) and possessed H3423 (QalImpf) it; but they obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) not thy voice, H6963 neither walked H1980 (QalPerf) in thy law; H8451 they have done H6213 (QalPerf) nothing of all that thou commandedst H6680 (PielPerf) them to do: H6213 (QalInf) therefore thou hast caused all this evil H7451 to come H7122 (HiphImpf) upon them:

^[39:23] και εισηλθοσαν και ελαβοσαν αυτην και ουκ ηκουσαν της φωνης σου και εν τοις προσταγμασιν σου ουκ επορευθησαν απαντα α ενετειλω αυτοις ουκ εποιησαν και εποιησας συμβηναι αυτοις παντα τα κακα ταυτα

Therefore Yahweh says: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I will give H5414 (QalActPtc) this city H5892 into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall take H3920 (QalPerf) it:

^[39:28] δια τουτο ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ δοθεισα παραδοθησεται η πολις αυτη εις χειρας βασιλεως βαβυλωνος και λημψεται αυτην

The Chaldeans, who fight against this city, will come and set this city on fire, and burn it with the houses on whose roofs they have offered incense to Baal, and poured out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.

and the Chaldeans, H3778 that fight H3898 (NiphPtc) against this city, H5892 shall come H935 (QalPerf) and set H3341 (HiphPerf) fire H784 on this city, H5892 and burn H8313 (QalPerf) it with the houses, H1004 upon whose roofs H1406 they have offered incense H6999 (PielPerf) unto Baal, H1168 and poured out H5258 (HiphPerf) drink offerings H5262 unto other H312 gods, H430 to provoke me to anger. ^[39:29] και ηξουσιν οι χαλδαιοι πολεμουντες επι την πολιν ταυτην και καυσουσιν την πολιν ταυτην εν πυρι και κατακαυσουσιν τας οικιας εν αις εθυμιωσαν επι των δωματων αυτων τη βααλ και εσπενδον σπονδας θεοις ετεροις προς το παραπικραναι με

For this city has been to me a provocation of my anger and of my wrath from the day that they built it even to this day, so that I should remove it from before my face,

For this city H5892 hath been to me as a provocation^§ of mine anger H639 and of my fury H2534 from the day H3117 that they built H1129 (QalPerf) it even unto this day; H3117 that I should remove H5493 (HiphInf) it from before my face, H6440

Jeremiah 32:31 Heb. for my anger

^[39:31] οτι επι την οργην μου και επι τον θυμον μου ην η πολις αυτη αφ ης ημερας ωκοδομησαν αυτην και εως της ημερας ταυτης απαλλαξαι αυτην απο προσωπου μου

They built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through fire to Molech, which I didn’t command them. It didn’t even come into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”

And they built H1129 (QalImpf) the high places H1116 of Baal, H1168 which are in the valley H1516 of the son H1121 of Hinnom, H2011 to cause their sons H1121 and their daughters H1323 to pass H5674 (HiphInf) through the fire unto Molech; H4432 which I commanded H6680 (PielPerf) them not, neither came H5927 (QalPerf) it into my mind, H3820 that they should do H6213 (QalInf) this abomination, H8441 to cause Judah H3063 to sin. ^[39:35] και ωκοδομησαν τους βωμους τη βααλ τους εν φαραγγι υιου εννομ του αναφερειν τους υιους αυτων και τας θυγατερας αυτων τω μολοχ βασιλει α ου συνεταξα αυτοις και ουκ ανεβη επι καρδιαν μου του ποιησαι το βδελυγμα τουτο προς το εφαμαρτειν τον ιουδαν

Now therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say, “It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”

And now therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 concerning this city, H5892 whereof ye say, H559 (QalActPtc) It shall be delivered H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894 by the sword, H2719 and by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence; H1698

^[39:36] και νυν ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ επι την πολιν ην συ λεγεις παραδοθησεται εις χειρας βασιλεως βαβυλωνος εν μαχαιρα και εν λιμω και εν αποστολη

Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.”

Yea, I will rejoice H7797 (QalPerf) over them to do them good, H2895 (HiphInf) and I will plant H5193 (QalPerf) them in this land H776 assuredly^§ H571 with my whole heart H3820 and with my whole soul. H5315

Jeremiah 32:41 Heb. in truth, or stability

^[39:41] και επισκεψομαι του αγαθωσαι αυτους και φυτευσω αυτους εν τη γη ταυτη εν πιστει και εν παση καρδια και εν παση ψυχη

For Yahweh says: “Just as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Like as I have brought H935 (HiphPerf) all this great H1419 evil H7451 upon this people, H5971 so will I bring H935 (HiphPtc) upon them all the good H2896 that I have promised H1696 (QalActPtc) them.

^[39:42] οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος καθα επηγαγον επι τον λαον τουτον παντα τα κακα τα μεγαλα ταυτα ουτως εγω επαξω επ αυτους παντα τα αγαθα α ελαλησα επ αυτους
