When the people heard this evil news, they mourned; and no one put on his jewelry.

“ ‘If anyone sins, in that he hears a public adjuration to testify, he being a witness, whether he has seen or known, if he doesn’t report it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

When Moses heard that, it was pleasing in his sight.

“ ‘But if you will not listen to me, and will not do all these commandments,

Moses answered them, “Wait, that I may hear what Yahweh will command concerning you.”

The people were complaining in the ears of Yahweh. When Yahweh heard it, his anger burned; and Yahweh’s fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.

Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and Yahweh’s anger burned greatly; and Moses was displeased.

και ηκουσεν μωυσης κλαιοντων αυτων κατα δημους αυτων εκαστον επι της θυρας αυτου και εθυμωθη οργη κυριος σφοδρα και εναντι μωυση ην πονηρον

They said, “Has Yahweh indeed spoken only with Moses? Hasn’t he spoken also with us?” And Yahweh heard it.

και ειπαν μη μωυση μονω λελαληκεν κυριος ουχι και ημιν ελαλησεν και ηκουσεν κυριος

He said, “Now hear my words. If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream.

And he said, H559 (QalImpf) Hear H8085 (QalImpv) now my words: H1697 If there be a prophet H5030 among you, I the Lord H3068 will make myself known H3045 (HithImpf) unto him in a vision, H4759 and will speak H1696 (PielImpf) unto him in a dream. H2472

και ειπεν προς αυτους ακουσατε των λογων μου εαν γενηται προφητης υμων κυριω εν οραματι αυτω γνωσθησομαι και εν υπνω λαλησω αυτω

Moses said to Yahweh, “Then the Egyptians will hear it; for you brought up this people in your might from among them.

και ειπεν μωυσης προς κυριον και ακουσεται αιγυπτος οτι ανηγαγες τη ισχυι σου τον λαον τουτον εξ αυτων

They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you Yahweh are among this people; for you Yahweh are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.

αλλα και παντες οι κατοικουντες επι της γης ταυτης ακηκοασιν οτι συ ει κυριος εν τω λαω τουτω οστις οφθαλμοις κατ οφθαλμους οπταζη κυριε και η νεφελη σου εφεστηκεν επ αυτων και εν στυλω νεφελης συ πορευη προτερος αυτων την ημεραν και εν στυλω πυρος την νυκτα

Now if you killed this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying,

και εκτριψεις τον λαον τουτον ωσει ανθρωπον ενα και ερουσιν τα εθνη οσοι ακηκοασιν το ονομα σου λεγοντες

because all those men who have seen my glory and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;

οτι παντες οι ανδρες οι ορωντες την δοξαν μου και τα σημεια α εποιησα εν αιγυπτω και εν τη ερημω ταυτη και επειρασαν με τουτο δεκατον και ουκ εισηκουσαν μου της φωνης

“How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that complain against me? I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel, which they complain against me.

How long shall I bear with this evil H7451 congregation, H5712 which murmur H3885 (HiphPtc) against me? I have heard H8085 (QalPerf) the murmurings H8519 of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 which they murmur H3885 (HiphPtc) against me.

εως τινος την συναγωγην την πονηραν ταυτην α αυτοι γογγυζουσιν εναντιον εμου την γογγυσιν των υιων ισραηλ ην εγογγυσαν περι υμων ακηκοα

When Moses heard it, he fell on his face.

And when Moses H4872 heard H8085 (QalImpf) it, he fell H5307 (QalImpf) upon his face: H6440

και ακουσας μωυσης επεσεν επι προσωπον

Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi!

Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”

και εξεκκλησιασεν μωυσης και ααρων την συναγωγην απεναντι της πετρας και ειπεν προς αυτους ακουσατε μου οι απειθεις μη εκ της πετρας ταυτης εξαξομεν υμιν υδωρ

When we cried to Yahweh, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.

The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.

And when king H4428 Arad H6166 the Canaanite, H3669 which dwelt H3427 (QalActPtc) in the south, H5045 heard H8085 (QalImpf) tell that Israel H3478 came H935 (QalActPtc) by the way H1870 of the spies; H871 then he fought H3898 (NiphImpf) against Israel, H3478 and took H7617 (QalImpf) some of them prisoners. και ηκουσεν ο χανανις βασιλευς αραδ ο κατοικων κατα την ερημον ηλθεν γαρ ισραηλ οδον αθαριν και επολεμησεν προς ισραηλ και κατεπρονομευσαν εξ αυτων αιχμαλωσιαν

Yahweh listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. The name of the place was called Hormah.°

Numbers 21:3 “Hormah” means “destruction”.

And the Lord H3068 hearkened H8085 (QalImpf) to the voice H6963 of Israel, H3478 and delivered up H5414 (QalImpf) the Canaanites; H3669 and they utterly destroyed H2763 (HiphImpf) them and their cities: H5892 and he called H7121 (QalImpf) the name H8034 of the place H4725 Hormah.° H2767

Numbers 21:3 that is, utter destruction

και εισηκουσεν κυριος της φωνης ισραηλ και παρεδωκεν τον χανανιν υποχειριον αυτου και ανεθεματισεν αυτον και τας πολεις αυτου και επεκαλεσαν το ονομα του τοπου εκεινου αναθεμα

When Balak heard that Balaam had come, he went out to meet him to the City of Moab, which is on the border of the Arnon, which is in the utmost part of the border.

He took up his parable, and said, “Rise up, Balak, and hear! Listen to me, you son of Zippor.

he says, who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:

φησιν ακουων λογια θεου οστις ορασιν θεου ειδεν εν υπνω αποκεκαλυμμενοι οι οφθαλμοι αυτου

he says, who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:

ακουων λογια θεου επισταμενος επιστημην παρα υψιστου και ορασιν θεου ιδων εν υπνω αποκεκαλυμμενοι οι οφθαλμοι αυτου

You shall give authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.

And thou shalt put H5414 (QalPerf) some of thine honour H1935 upon him, that all the congregation H5712 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 may be obedient. H8085 (QalImpf)

και δωσεις της δοξης σου επ αυτον οπως αν εισακουσωσιν αυτου οι υιοι ισραηλ

and her father hears her vow and her pledge with which she has bound her soul, and her father says nothing to her, then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge with which she has bound her soul shall stand.

^[30:5] και ακουση ο πατηρ αυτης τας ευχας αυτης και τους ορισμους αυτης ους ωρισατο κατα της ψυχης αυτης και παρασιωπηση αυτης ο πατηρ και στησονται πασαι αι ευχαι αυτης και παντες οι ορισμοι ους ωρισατο κατα της ψυχης αυτης μενουσιν αυτη

But if her father forbids her in the day that he hears, none of her vows or of her pledges with which she has bound her soul, shall stand. Yahweh will forgive her, because her father has forbidden her.

But if her father H1 disallow H5106 (HiphPerf) her in the day H3117 that he heareth; H8085 (QalInf) not any of her vows, H5088 or of her bonds H632 wherewith she hath bound H631 (QalPerf) her soul, H5315 shall stand: H6965 (QalImpf) and the Lord H3068 shall forgive H5545 (QalImpf) her, because her father H1 disallowed H5106 (HiphPerf) her.

^[30:6] εαν δε ανανευων ανανευση ο πατηρ αυτης η αν ημερα ακουση πασας τας ευχας αυτης και τους ορισμους ους ωρισατο κατα της ψυχης αυτης ου στησονται και κυριος καθαριει αυτην οτι ανενευσεν ο πατηρ αυτης

and her husband hears it, and says nothing to her in the day that he hears it; then her vows shall stand, and her pledges with which she has bound her soul shall stand.

and her husband H376 heard H8085 (QalPerf) it, and held his peace H2790 (HiphPerf) at her in the day H3117 that he heard H8085 (QalInf) it: then her vows H5088 shall stand, H6965 (QalPerf) and her bonds H632 wherewith she bound H631 (QalPerf) her soul H5315 shall stand. H6965 (QalImpf)

^[30:8] και ακουση ο ανηρ αυτης και παρασιωπηση αυτη η αν ημερα ακουση και ουτως στησονται πασαι αι ευχαι αυτης και οι ορισμοι αυτης ους ωρισατο κατα της ψυχης αυτης στησονται

But if her husband forbids her in the day that he hears it, then he makes void her vow which is on her and the rash utterance of her lips, with which she has bound her soul. Yahweh will forgive her.

But if her husband H376 disallowed H5106 (HiphImpf) her on the day H3117 that he heard H8085 (QalInf) it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, H5088 and that which she uttered H4008 with her lips, H8193 wherewith she bound H631 (QalPerf) her soul, H5315 of none effect: H6565 (HiphPerf) and the Lord H3068 shall forgive H5545 (QalImpf) her.

^[30:9] εαν δε ανανευων ανανευση ο ανηρ αυτης η αν ημερα ακουση πασαι αι ευχαι αυτης και οι ορισμοι αυτης ους ωρισατο κατα της ψυχης αυτης ου μενουσιν οτι ο ανηρ ανενευσεν απ αυτης και κυριος καθαριει αυτην

and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her and didn’t disallow her, then all her vows shall stand, and every pledge with which she bound her soul shall stand.

and her husband H376 heard H8085 (QalPerf) it, and held his peace H2790 (HiphPerf) at her, and disallowed H5106 (HiphPerf) her not: then all her vows H5088 shall stand, H6965 (QalImpf) and every bond H632 wherewith she bound H631 (QalPerf) her soul H5315 shall stand. H6965 (QalPerf)

^[30:12] και ακουση ο ανηρ αυτης και παρασιωπηση αυτη και μη ανανευση αυτη και στησονται πασαι αι ευχαι αυτης και παντες οι ορισμοι αυτης ους ωρισατο κατα της ψυχης αυτης στησονται κατ αυτης

But if her husband made them null and void in the day that he heard them, then whatever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand. Her husband has made them void. Yahweh will forgive her.

But if her husband H376 hath utterly H6565 (HiphInf) made them void H6565 (HiphImpf) on the day H3117 he heard H8085 (QalInf) them; then whatsoever proceeded H4161 out of her lips H8193 concerning her vows, H5088 or concerning the bond H632 of her soul, H5315 shall not stand: H6965 (QalImpf) her husband H376 hath made them void; H6565 (HiphPerf) and the Lord H3068 shall forgive H5545 (QalImpf) her.

^[30:13] εαν δε περιελων περιελη ο ανηρ αυτης η αν ημερα ακουση παντα οσα εαν εξελθη εκ των χειλεων αυτης κατα τας ευχας αυτης και κατα τους ορισμους τους κατα της ψυχης αυτης ου μενει αυτη ο ανηρ αυτης περιειλεν και κυριος καθαρισει αυτην

But if her husband says nothing to her from day to day, then he establishes all her vows or all her pledges which are on her. He has established them, because he said nothing to her in the day that he heard them.

But if her husband H376 altogether H2790 (HiphInf) hold his peace H2790 (HiphImpf) at her from day H3117 to day; H3117 then he establisheth H6965 (HiphPerf) all her vows, H5088 or all her bonds, H632 which are upon her: he confirmeth H6965 (HiphPerf) them, because he held his peace H2790 (HiphPerf) at her in the day H3117 that he heard H8085 (QalInf) them.

^[30:15] εαν δε σιωπων παρασιωπηση αυτη ημεραν εξ ημερας και στησει αυτη πασας τας ευχας αυτης και τους ορισμους τους επ αυτης στησει αυτη οτι εσιωπησεν αυτη τη ημερα η ηκουσεν

But if he makes them null and void after he has heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity.”

But if he shall any ways H6565 (HiphInf) make them void H6565 (HiphImpf) after H310 that he hath heard H8085 (QalInf) them; then he shall bear H5375 (QalPerf) her iniquity. H5771

^[30:16] εαν δε περιελων περιελη αυτης μετα την ημεραν ην ηκουσεν και λημψεται την αμαρτιαν αυτου

The Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the South in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the children of Israel.

I commanded your judges at that time, saying, “Hear cases between your brothers and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the foreigner who is living with him.

και ενετειλαμην τοις κριταις υμων εν τω καιρω εκεινω λεγων διακουετε ανα μεσον των αδελφων υμων και κρινατε δικαιως ανα μεσον ανδρος και ανα μεσον αδελφου και ανα μεσον προσηλυτου αυτου

You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be afraid of the face of man, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, you shall bring to me, and I will hear it.”

Ye shall not respect H5234 (HiphImpf) persons^§ H6440 in judgment; H4941 but ye shall hear H8085 (QalImpf) the small H6996 as well as the great; H1419 ye shall not be afraid H1481 (QalImpf) of the face H6440 of man; H376 for the judgment H4941 is God’s: H430 and the cause H1697 that is too hard H7185 (QalImpf) for you, bring H7126 (HiphImpf) it unto me, and I will hear H8085 (QalPerf) it.

Deuteronomy 1:17 Heb. acknowledge faces

ουκ επιγνωση προσωπον εν κρισει κατα τον μικρον και κατα τον μεγαν κρινεις ου μη υποστειλη προσωπον ανθρωπου οτι η κρισις του θεου εστιν και το ρημα ο εαν σκληρον η αφ υμων ανοισετε αυτο επ εμε και ακουσομαι αυτο

Deuteronomy 1:43 Heb. you were presumptuous, and went up

και ελαλησα υμιν και ουκ εισηκουσατε μου και παρεβητε το ρημα κυριου και παραβιασαμενοι ανεβητε εις το ορος

You returned and wept before Yahweh, but Yahweh didn’t listen to your voice, nor turn his ear to you.

Today I will begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole sky, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.”

εν τη ημερα ταυτη εναρχου δουναι τον τρομον σου και τον φοβον σου επι προσωπον παντων των εθνων των υποκατω του ουρανου οιτινες ακουσαντες το ονομα σου ταραχθησονται και ωδινας εξουσιν απο προσωπου σου

But Yahweh was angry with me because of you, and didn’t listen to me. Yahweh said to me, “That is enough! Speak no more to me of this matter.

But the Lord H3068 was wroth H5674 (HithImpf) with me for your sakes, and would not hear H8085 (QalPerf) me: and the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Let it suffice H7227 thee; speak H1696 (PielInf) no more H3254 (HiphImpf) unto me of this matter. H1697

και υπερειδεν κυριος εμε ενεκεν υμων και ουκ εισηκουσεν μου και ειπεν κυριος προς με ικανουσθω σοι μη προσθης ετι λαλησαι τον λογον τουτον

Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances which I teach you, to do them, that you may live and go in and possess the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, gives you.

και νυν ισραηλ ακουε των δικαιωματων και των κριματων οσα εγω διδασκω υμας σημερον ποιειν ινα ζητε και πολυπλασιασθητε και εισελθοντες κληρονομησητε την γην ην κυριος ο θεος των πατερων υμων διδωσιν υμιν

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who shall hear all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

και φυλαξεσθε και ποιησετε οτι αυτη η σοφια υμων και η συνεσις εναντιον παντων των εθνων οσοι εαν ακουσωσιν παντα τα δικαιωματα ταυτα και ερουσιν ιδου λαος σοφος και επιστημων το εθνος το μεγα τουτο

the day that you stood before Yahweh your God in Horeb, when Yahweh said to me, “Assemble the people to me, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.”

specially the day H3117 that thou stoodest H5975 (QalPerf) before H6440 the Lord H3068 thy God H430 in Horeb, H2722 when the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalInf) unto me, Gather H6950 me the people H5971 together, H6950 (HiphImpv) and I will make them hear H8085 (HiphImpf) my words, H1697 that they may learn H3925 (QalImpf) to fear H3372 (QalInf) me all the days H3117 that they shall live H2416 upon the earth, H127 and that they may teach H3925 (PielImpf) their children.
