He sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River, to the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, “Behold, there is a people who came out of Egypt. Behold, they cover the surface of the earth, and they are staying opposite me.

και απεστειλεν πρεσβεις προς βαλααμ υιον βεωρ φαθουρα ο εστιν επι του ποταμου γης υιων λαου αυτου καλεσαι αυτον λεγων ιδου λαος εξεληλυθεν εξ αιγυπτου και ιδου κατεκαλυψεν την οψιν της γης και ουτος εγκαθηται εχομενος μου

The elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand. They came to Balaam, and spoke to him the words of Balak.

And the elders H2205 of Moab H4124 and the elders H2205 of Midian H4080 departed H3212 (QalImpf) with the rewards of divination H7081 in their hand; H3027 and they came H935 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 and spake H1696 (PielImpf) unto him the words H1697 of Balak. H1111

και επορευθη η γερουσια μωαβ και η γερουσια μαδιαμ και τα μαντεια εν ταις χερσιν αυτων και ηλθον προς βαλααμ και ειπαν αυτω τα ρηματα βαλακ

He said to them, “Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as Yahweh shall speak to me.” The princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.

And he said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Lodge H3885 (QalImpv) here this night, H3915 and I will bring H7725 you word H1697 again, H7725 (HiphPerf) as the Lord H3068 shall speak H1696 (PielImpf) unto me: and the princes H8269 of Moab H4124 abode H3427 (QalImpf) with Balaam. H1109

και ειπεν προς αυτους καταλυσατε αυτου την νυκτα και αποκριθησομαι υμιν πραγματα α εαν λαληση κυριος προς με και κατεμειναν οι αρχοντες μωαβ παρα βαλααμ

God came to Balaam, and said, “Who are these men with you?”

And God H430 came H935 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 and said, H559 (QalImpf) What men H582 are these with thee?

και ηλθεν ο θεος προς βαλααμ και ειπεν αυτω τι οι ανθρωποι ουτοι παρα σοι

Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has said to me,

And Balaam H1109 said H559 (QalImpf) unto God, H430 Balak H1111 the son H1121 of Zippor, H6834 king H4428 of Moab, H4124 hath sent H7971 (QalPerf) unto me, saying,

και ειπεν βαλααμ προς τον θεον βαλακ υιος σεπφωρ βασιλευς μωαβ απεστειλεν αυτους προς με λεγων

God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them. You shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”

And God H430 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 Thou shalt not go H3212 (QalImpf) with them; thou shalt not curse H779 (QalImpf) the people: H5971 for they are blessed. H1288 (QalPasPtc)

και ειπεν ο θεος προς βαλααμ ου πορευση μετ αυτων ουδε καταραση τον λαον εστιν γαρ ευλογημενος

Balaam rose up in the morning, and said to the princes of Balak, “Go to your land; for Yahweh refuses to permit me to go with you.”

And Balaam H1109 rose up H6965 (QalImpf) in the morning, H1242 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto the princes H8269 of Balak, H1111 Get H3212 (QalImpv) you into your land: H776 for the Lord H3068 refuseth H3985 (PielPerf) to give me leave H5414 (QalInf) to go H1980 (QalInf) with you.

και αναστας βαλααμ το πρωι ειπεν τοις αρχουσιν βαλακ αποτρεχετε προς τον κυριον υμων ουκ αφιησιν με ο θεος πορευεσθαι μεθ υμων

The princes of Moab rose up, and they went to Balak, and said, “Balaam refuses to come with us.”

And the princes H8269 of Moab H4124 rose up, H6965 (QalImpf) and they went H935 (QalImpf) unto Balak, H1111 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Balaam H1109 refuseth H3985 (PielPerf) to come H1980 (QalInf) with us.

και ανασταντες οι αρχοντες μωαβ ηλθον προς βαλακ και ειπαν ου θελει βαλααμ πορευθηναι μεθ ημων

They came to Balaam, and said to him, “Balak the son of Zippor says, ‘Please let nothing hinder you from coming to me,

And they came H935 (QalImpf) to Balaam, H1109 and said H559 (QalImpf) to him, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) Balak H1111 the son H1121 of Zippor, H6834 Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder H4513 (NiphImpf) thee from^§ coming H1980 (QalInf) unto me:

Balaam answered the servants of Balak, “If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the word of Yahweh my God, to do less or more.

και απεκριθη βαλααμ και ειπεν τοις αρχουσιν βαλακ εαν δω μοι βαλακ πληρη τον οικον αυτου αργυριου και χρυσιου ου δυνησομαι παραβηναι το ρημα κυριου του θεου ποιησαι αυτο μικρον η μεγα εν τη διανοια μου

God came to Balaam at night, and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak to you, that you shall do.”

και ηλθεν ο θεος προς βαλααμ νυκτος και ειπεν αυτω ει καλεσαι σε παρεισιν οι ανθρωποι ουτοι αναστας ακολουθησον αυτοις αλλα το ρημα ο αν λαλησω προς σε τουτο ποιησεις

Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and went with the princes of Moab.

And Balaam H1109 rose up H6965 (QalImpf) in the morning, H1242 and saddled H2280 (QalImpf) his ass, H860 and went H3212 (QalImpf) with the princes H8269 of Moab. H4124

και αναστας βαλααμ το πρωι επεσαξεν την ονον αυτου και επορευθη μετα των αρχοντων μωαβ

The donkey saw Yahweh’s angel standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and the donkey turned out of the path, and went into the field. Balaam struck the donkey, to turn her into the path.

And the ass H860 saw H7200 (QalImpf) the angel H4397 of the Lord H3068 standing H5324 (NiphPtc) in the way, H1870 and his sword H2719 drawn H8025 (QalPasPtc) in his hand: H3027 and the ass H860 turned aside H5186 (QalImpf) out of the way, H1870 and went H3212 (QalImpf) into the field: H7704 and Balaam H1109 smote H5221 (HiphImpf) the ass, H860 to turn H5186 (HiphInf) her into the way. και ιδουσα η ονος τον αγγελον του θεου ανθεστηκοτα εν τη οδω και την ρομφαιαν εσπασμενην εν τη χειρι αυτου και εξεκλινεν η ονος εκ της οδου και επορευετο εις το πεδιον και επαταξεν την ονον τη ραβδω του ευθυναι αυτην εν τη οδω

The donkey saw Yahweh’s angel, and she thrust herself to the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall. He struck her again.

And when the ass H860 saw H7200 (QalImpf) the angel H4397 of the Lord, H3068 she thrust H3905 (NiphImpf) herself unto the wall, H7023 and crushed H3905 (QalImpf) Balaam’s H1109 foot H7272 against the wall: H7023 and he smote H5221 (HiphInf) her again. H3254 (HiphImpf)

και ιδουσα η ονος τον αγγελον του θεου προσεθλιψεν εαυτην προς τον τοιχον και απεθλιψεν τον ποδα βαλααμ και προσεθετο ετι μαστιξαι αυτην

The donkey saw Yahweh’s angel, and she lay down under Balaam. Balaam’s anger burned, and he struck the donkey with his staff.

And when the ass H860 saw H7200 (QalImpf) the angel H4397 of the Lord, H3068 she fell down H7257 (QalImpf) under Balaam: H1109 and Balaam’s H1109 anger H639 was kindled, H2734 (QalImpf) and he smote H5221 (HiphImpf) the ass H860 with a staff. H4731

και ιδουσα η ονος τον αγγελον του θεου συνεκαθισεν υποκατω βαλααμ και εθυμωθη βαλααμ και ετυπτεν την ονον τη ραβδω

Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?”

And the Lord H3068 opened H6605 (QalImpf) the mouth H6310 of the ass, H860 and she said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 What have I done H6213 (QalPerf) unto thee, that thou hast smitten H5221 (HiphPerf) me these three H7969 times? H7272

και ηνοιξεν ο θεος το στομα της ονου και λεγει τω βαλααμ τι εποιησα σοι οτι πεπαικας με τουτο τριτον

Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have mocked me, I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would have killed you.”

And Balaam H1109 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the ass, H860 Because thou hast mocked H5953 (HithPerf) me: I would H3863 there were H3426 a sword H2719 in mine hand, H3027 for now would I kill H2026 (QalPerf) thee.

και ειπεν βαλααμ τη ονω οτι εμπεπαιχας μοι και ει ειχον μαχαιραν εν τη χειρι μου ηδη αν εξεκεντησα σε

The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey, on which you have ridden all your life long until today? Was I ever in the habit of doing so to you?” He said, “No.”

And the ass H860 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 Am not I thine ass, H860 upon which thou hast ridden^§ H7392 (QalPerf) ever since I was thine^§ unto this day? H3117 was I ever H5532 (HiphInf) wont H5532 (HiphPerf) to do so H6213 (QalInf) unto thee? And he said, H559 (QalImpf) Nay.

και λεγει η ονος τω βαλααμ ουκ εγω η ονος σου εφ ης επεβαινες απο νεοτητος σου εως της σημερον ημερας μη υπερορασει υπεριδουσα εποιησα σοι ουτως ο δε ειπεν ουχι

Then Yahweh opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw Yahweh’s angel standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and he bowed his head, and fell on his face.

Then the Lord H3068 opened H1540 (PielImpf) the eyes H5869 of Balaam, H1109 and he saw H7200 (QalImpf) the angel H4397 of the Lord H3068 standing H5324 (NiphPtc) in the way, H1870 and his sword H2719 drawn H8025 (QalPasPtc) in his hand: H3027 and he bowed down H6915 (QalImpf) his head, and fell flat° H7812 (HithImpf) on his face. απεκαλυψεν δε ο θεος τους οφθαλμους βαλααμ και ορα τον αγγελον κυριου ανθεστηκοτα εν τη οδω και την μαχαιραν εσπασμενην εν τη χειρι αυτου και κυψας προσεκυνησεν τω προσωπω αυτου

Balaam said to Yahweh’s angel, “I have sinned; for I didn’t know that you stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displeases you, I will go back again.”

And Balaam H1109 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the angel H4397 of the Lord, H3068 I have sinned; H2398 (QalPerf) for I knew H3045 (QalPerf) not that thou stoodest H5324 (NiphPtc) in the way H1870 against H7125 (QalInf) me: now therefore, if it displease^§ thee, H7489 (QalPerf) H5869 I will get me back again. Numbers 22:34 Heb. be evil in thine eyes

και ειπεν βαλααμ τω αγγελω κυριου ημαρτηκα ου γαρ ηπισταμην οτι συ μοι ανθεστηκας εν τη οδω εις συναντησιν και νυν ει μη σοι αρεσκει αποστραφησομαι

Yahweh’s angel said to Balaam, “Go with the men; but you shall only speak the word that I shall speak to you.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

And the angel H4397 of the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 Go H3212 (QalImpv) with the men: H582 but only H657 the word H1697 that I shall speak H1696 (PielImpf) unto thee, that thou shalt speak. H1696 (PielImpf) So Balaam H1109 went H3212 (QalImpf) with the princes H8269 of Balak. H1111

και ειπεν ο αγγελος του θεου προς βαλααμ συμπορευθητι μετα των ανθρωπων πλην το ρημα ο εαν ειπω προς σε τουτο φυλαξη λαλησαι και επορευθη βαλααμ μετα των αρχοντων βαλακ

When Balak heard that Balaam had come, he went out to meet him to the City of Moab, which is on the border of the Arnon, which is in the utmost part of the border.

And when Balak H1111 heard H8085 (QalImpf) that Balaam H1109 was come, H935 (QalActPtc) he went out H3318 (QalImpf) to meet H7125 (QalInf) him unto a city H5892 of Moab, H4124 which is in the border H1366 of Arnon, H769 which is in the utmost H7097 coast. H1366

και ακουσας βαλακ οτι ηκει βαλααμ εξηλθεν εις συναντησιν αυτω εις πολιν μωαβ η εστιν επι των οριων αρνων ο εστιν εκ μερους των οριων

Balak said to Balaam, “Didn’t I earnestly send for you to summon you? Why didn’t you come to me? Am I not able indeed to promote you to honor?”

And Balak H1111 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 Did I not earnestly H7971 (QalInf) send H7971 (QalPerf) unto thee to call H7121 (QalInf) thee? wherefore camest H1980 (QalPerf) thou not unto me? am I not able H3201 (QalImpf) indeed H552 to promote thee to honour? H3513 (PielInf)

και ειπεν βαλακ προς βαλααμ ουχι απεστειλα προς σε καλεσαι σε δια τι ουκ ηρχου προς με οντως ου δυνησομαι τιμησαι σε

Balaam said to Balak, “Behold, I have come to you. Have I now any power at all to speak anything? I will speak the word that God puts in my mouth.”

And Balaam H1109 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balak, H1111 Lo, I am come H935 (QalPerf) unto thee: have I now any power H3201 (QalImpf) at all H3201 (QalInf) to say H1696 (PielInf) any thing? H3972 the word H1697 that God H430 putteth H7760 (QalImpf) in my mouth, H6310 that shall I speak. H1696 (PielImpf)

και ειπεν βαλααμ προς βαλακ ιδου ηκω προς σε νυν δυνατος εσομαι λαλησαι τι το ρημα ο εαν βαλη ο θεος εις το στομα μου τουτο λαλησω

Balaam went with Balak, and they came to Kiriath Huzoth.

And Balaam H1109 went H3212 (QalImpf) with Balak, H1111 and they came H935 (QalImpf) unto Kirjath-huzoth.^§ H2351 H7155

Numbers 22:39 Or, a city of streets

και επορευθη βαλααμ μετα βαλακ και ηλθον εις πολεις επαυλεων

Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes who were with him.

And Balak H1111 offered H2076 (QalImpf) oxen H1241 and sheep, H6629 and sent H7971 (PielImpf) to Balaam, H1109 and to the princes H8269 that were with him.

και εθυσεν βαλακ προβατα και μοσχους και απεστειλεν τω βαλααμ και τοις αρχουσι τοις μετ αυτου

In the morning, Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal; and he saw from there part of the people.

And it came to pass on the morrow, H1242 that Balak H1111 took H3947 (QalImpf) Balaam, H1109 and brought him up H5927 (HiphImpf) into the high places H1116 of Baal, H1120 that thence he might see H7200 (QalImpf) the utmost H7097 part of the people. H5971

και εγενηθη πρωι και παραλαβων βαλακ τον βαλααμ ανεβιβασεν αυτον επι την στηλην του βααλ και εδειξεν αυτω εκειθεν μερος τι του λαου

Balaam said to Balak, “Build here seven altars for me, and prepare here seven bulls and seven rams for me.”

And Balaam H1109 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balak, H1111 Build H1129 (QalImpv) me here seven H7651 altars, H4196 and prepare H3559 (HiphImpv) me here seven H7651 oxen H6499 and seven H7651 rams. H352

και ειπεν βαλααμ τω βαλακ οικοδομησον μοι ενταυθα επτα βωμους και ετοιμασον μοι ενταυθα επτα μοσχους και επτα κριους

Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bull and a ram.

And Balak H1111 did H6213 (QalImpf) as Balaam H1109 had spoken; H1696 (PielPerf) and Balak H1111 and Balaam H1109 offered H5927 (HiphImpf) on every altar H4196 a bullock H6499 and a ram. H352

και εποιησεν βαλακ ον τροπον ειπεν αυτω βαλααμ και ανηνεγκεν μοσχον και κριον επι τον βωμον

Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me. Whatever he shows me I will tell you.” He went to a bare height.

And Balaam H1109 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balak, H1111 Stand H3320 (HithImpv) by thy burnt offering, H5930 and I will go: H3212 (QalImpf) peradventure the Lord H3068 will come H7136 (NiphImpf) to meet H7125 (QalInf) me: and whatsoever H1697 he sheweth H7200 (HiphImpf) me I will tell H5046 (HiphPerf) thee. και ειπεν βαλααμ προς βαλακ παραστηθι επι της θυσιας σου και πορευσομαι ει μοι φανειται ο θεος εν συναντησει και ρημα ο εαν μοι δειξη αναγγελω σοι και παρεστη βαλακ επι της θυσιας αυτου και βαλααμ επορευθη επερωτησαι τον θεον και επορευθη ευθειαν

God met Balaam, and he said to him, “I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.”

And God H430 met H7136 (NiphImpf) Balaam: H1109 and he said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, I have prepared H6186 (QalPerf) seven H7651 altars, H4196 and I have offered H5927 (HiphImpf) upon every altar H4196 a bullock H6499 and a ram. H352

και εφανη ο θεος τω βαλααμ και ειπεν προς αυτον βαλααμ τους επτα βωμους ητοιμασα και ανεβιβασα μοσχον και κριον επι τον βωμον

Yahweh put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.”

And the Lord H3068 put H7760 (QalImpf) a word H1697 in Balaam’s H1109 mouth, H6310 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Return H7725 (QalImpv) unto Balak, H1111 and thus thou shalt speak. H1696 (PielImpf)

και ενεβαλεν ο θεος ρημα εις το στομα βαλααμ και ειπεν επιστραφεις προς βαλακ ουτως λαλησεις

Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and behold, you have blessed them altogether.”

And Balak H1111 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 What hast thou done H6213 (QalPerf) unto me? I took H3947 (QalPerf) thee to curse H6895 (QalInf) mine enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) and, behold, thou hast blessed H1288 (PielPerf) them altogether. H1288 (PielInf)

και ειπεν βαλακ προς βαλααμ τι πεποιηκας μοι εις καταρασιν εχθρων μου κεκληκα σε και ιδου ευλογηκας ευλογιαν

Yahweh met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and say this.”

And the Lord H3068 met H7136 (NiphImpf) Balaam, H1109 and put H7760 (QalImpf) a word H1697 in his mouth, H6310 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Go again H7725 (QalImpv) unto Balak, H1111 and say H1696 (PielImpf) thus.

και συνηντησεν ο θεος τω βαλααμ και ενεβαλεν ρημα εις το στομα αυτου και ειπεν αποστραφητι προς βαλακ και ταδε λαλησεις

Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.”

And Balak H1111 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 Neither curse H5344 (QalImpf) them at all, H6895 (QalInf) nor bless H1288 (PielImpf) them at all. H1288 (PielInf)

και ειπεν βαλακ προς βαλααμ ουτε καταραις καταραση μοι αυτον ουτε ευλογων μη ευλογησης αυτον

But Balaam answered Balak, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘All that Yahweh speaks, that I must do’?”

But Balaam H1109 answered H6030 (QalImpf) and said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balak, H1111 Told H1696 (PielPerf) not I thee, saying, H559 (QalInf) All that the Lord H3068 speaketh, H1696 (PielImpf) that I must do? H6213 (QalImpf)

και αποκριθεις βαλααμ ειπεν τω βαλακ ουκ ελαλησα σοι λεγων το ρημα ο εαν λαληση ο θεος τουτο ποιησω

Balak said to Balaam, “Come now, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse them for me from there.”

And Balak H1111 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balaam, H1109 Come, H3212 (QalImpv) I pray thee, I will bring H3947 (QalImpf) thee unto another H312 place; H4725 peradventure it will please H3474 (QalImpf) H5869 God H430 that thou mayest curse H6895 (QalPerf) me them from thence.

και ειπεν βαλακ προς βαλααμ δευρο παραλαβω σε εις τοπον αλλον ει αρεσει τω θεω και καταρασαι μοι αυτον εκειθεν

Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down on the desert.

And Balak H1111 brought H3947 (QalImpf) Balaam H1109 unto the top H7218 of Peor, H6465 that looketh H8259 (NiphPtc) toward H6440 Jeshimon. H3452

και παρελαβεν βαλακ τον βαλααμ επι κορυφην του φογωρ το παρατεινον εις την ερημον

Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me here.”

And Balaam H1109 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Balak, H1111 Build H1129 (QalImpv) me here seven H7651 altars, H4196 and prepare H3559 (HiphImpv) me here seven H7651 bullocks H6499 and seven H7651 rams. H352

και ειπεν βαλααμ προς βαλακ οικοδομησον μοι ωδε επτα βωμους και ετοιμασον μοι ωδε επτα μοσχους και επτα κριους

Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.

And Balak H1111 did H6213 (QalImpf) as Balaam H1109 had said, H559 (QalPerf) and offered H5927 (HiphImpf) a bullock H6499 and a ram H352 on every altar. H4196

When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

And when Balaam H1109 saw H7200 (QalImpf) that it pleased H5869 H2895 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 to bless H1288 (PielInf) Israel, H3478 he went H1980 (QalPerf) not, as at other times, H6471 to seek H7125 (QalInf) for enchantments,^§ H5173 but he set H7896 (QalImpf) his face H6440 toward the wilderness. και ιδων βαλααμ οτι καλον εστιν εναντι κυριου ευλογειν τον ισραηλ ουκ επορευθη κατα το ειωθος εις συναντησιν τοις οιωνοις και απεστρεψεν το προσωπον αυτου εις την ερημον

Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him.

και αναλαβων την παραβολην αυτου ειπεν φησιν βαλααμ υιος βεωρ φησιν ο ανθρωπος ο αληθινως ορων

Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.

και εθυμωθη βαλακ επι βαλααμ και συνεκροτησεν ταις χερσιν αυτου και ειπεν βαλακ προς βαλααμ καταρασθαι τον εχθρον μου κεκληκα σε και ιδου ευλογων ευλογησας τριτον τουτο

Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,

και αναστας βαλααμ απηλθεν αποστραφεις εις τον τοπον αυτου και βαλακ απηλθεν προς εαυτον

They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.

Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against Yahweh in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of Yahweh.

αυται γαρ ησαν τοις υιοις ισραηλ κατα το ρημα βαλααμ του αποστησαι και υπεριδειν το ρημα κυριου ενεκεν φογωρ και εγενετο η πληγη εν τη συναγωγη κυριου

because they didn’t meet you with bread and with water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.
