Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong, for the people increased continually with Absalom.

And Absalom H53 sent H7971 (QalImpf) for Ahithophel H302 the Gilonite, H1526 David’s H1732 counsellor, H3289 (QalActPtc) from his city, H5892 [even] from Giloh, H1542 while he offered H2076 (QalInf) sacrifices. H2077 And the conspiracy H7195 was strong; H533 for the people H5971 increased H7227 continually H1980 (QalActPtc) with Absalom. H53

και απεστειλεν αβεσσαλωμ και εκαλεσεν τον αχιτοφελ τον γελμωναιον τον συμβουλον δαυιδ εκ της πολεως αυτου εκ γωλα εν τω θυσιαζειν αυτον και εγενετο συστρεμμα ισχυρον και ο λαος πορευομενος και πολυς μετα αβεσσαλωμ

Someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” David said, “Yahweh, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”

And [one] told H5046 (HiphPerf) David, H1732 saying, H559 (QalInf) Ahithophel H302 [is] among the conspirators H7194 (QalActPtc) with Absalom. H53 And David H1732 said, H559 (QalImpf) O Lord, H3068 I pray thee, turn the counsel H6098 of Ahithophel H302 into foolishness. H5528 (PielImpv)

και ανηγγελη δαυιδ λεγοντες και αχιτοφελ εν τοις συστρεφομενοις μετα αβεσσαλωμ και ειπεν δαυιδ διασκεδασον δη την βουλην αχιτοφελ κυριε ο θεος μου

but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, ‘I will be your servant, O king. As I have been your father’s servant in time past, so I will now be your servant; then will you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.’

But if thou return H7725 (QalImpf) to the city, H5892 and say H559 (QalPerf) unto Absalom, H53 I will be thy servant, H5650 O king; H4428 [as] I [have been] thy father’s H1 servant H5650 hitherto, H227 so [will] I now also [be] thy servant: H5650 then mayest thou for me defeat H6565 (HiphPerf) the counsel H6098 of Ahithophel. H302

και εαν εις την πολιν επιστρεψης και ερεις τω αβεσσαλωμ διεληλυθασιν οι αδελφοι σου και ο βασιλευς κατοπισθεν μου διεληλυθεν ο πατηρ σου και νυν παις σου ειμι βασιλευ εασον με ζησαι παις του πατρος σου ημην τοτε και αρτιως και νυν εγω δουλος σος και διασκεδασεις μοι την βουλην αχιτοφελ

Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

And Absalom, H53 and all the people H5971 the men H376 of Israel, H3478 came H935 (QalPerf) to Jerusalem, H3389 and Ahithophel H302 with him.

και αβεσσαλωμ και πας ανηρ ισραηλ εισηλθον εις ιερουσαλημ και αχιτοφελ μετ αυτου

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give your counsel what we shall do.”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Absalom H53 to Ahithophel, H302 Give H3051 (QalImpv) counsel H6098 among you what we shall do. H6213 (QalImpf)

και ειπεν αβεσσαλωμ προς αχιτοφελ φερετε εαυτοις βουλην τι ποιησωμεν

Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father’s concubines that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”

And Ahithophel H302 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Absalom, H53 Go in H935 (QalImpv) unto thy father’s H1 concubines, H6370 which he hath left H3240 (HiphPerf) to keep H8104 (QalInf) the house; H1004 and all Israel H3478 shall hear H8085 (QalPerf) that thou art abhorred H887 (NiphPerf) of thy father: H1 then shall the hands H3027 of all that [are] with thee be strong. και ειπεν αχιτοφελ προς αβεσσαλωμ εισελθε προς τας παλλακας του πατρος σου ας κατελιπεν φυλασσειν τον οικον αυτου και ακουσεται πας ισραηλ οτι κατησχυνας τον πατερα σου και ενισχυσουσιν αι χειρες παντων των μετα σου

The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the inner sanctuary of God. All the counsel of Ahithophel was like this both with David and with Absalom.

And the counsel H6098 of Ahithophel, H302 which he counselled H3289 (QalPerf) in those days, H3117 [was] as if a man H376 had enquired H7592 (QalImpf) at the oracle H1697 of God: H430 so [was] all the counsel H6098 of Ahithophel H302 both with David H1732 and with Absalom. H53

και η βουλη αχιτοφελ ην εβουλευσατο εν ταις ημεραις ταις πρωταις ον τροπον επερωτηση εν λογω του θεου ουτως πασα η βουλη του αχιτοφελ και γε τω δαυιδ και γε τω αβεσσαλωμ

Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David tonight.

Moreover Ahithophel H302 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Absalom, H53 Let me now choose out H977 (QalImpf) twelve H8147 H6240 thousand H505 men, H376 and I will arise H6965 (QalImpf) and pursue H7291 (QalImpf) after H310 David H1732 this night: H3915

και ειπεν αχιτοφελ προς αβεσσαλωμ επιλεξω δη εμαυτω δωδεκα χιλιαδας ανδρων και αναστησομαι και καταδιωξω οπισω δαυιδ την νυκτα

When Hushai had come to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying, “Ahithophel has spoken like this. Shall we do what he says? If not, speak up.”

And when Hushai H2365 was come H935 (QalImpf) to Absalom, H53 Absalom H53 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto him, saying, H559 (QalInf) Ahithophel H302 hath spoken H1696 (PielPerf) after this manner: H1697 shall we do H6213 (QalImpf) [after] his saying? H1697 if not; speak H1696 (PielImpv) thou.

και εισηλθεν χουσι προς αβεσσαλωμ και ειπεν αβεσσαλωμ προς αυτον λεγων κατα το ρημα τουτο ελαλησεν αχιτοφελ ει ποιησομεν κατα τον λογον αυτου ει δε μη συ λαλησον

Hushai said to Absalom, “The counsel that Ahithophel has given this time is not good.”

And Hushai H2365 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Absalom, H53 The counsel H6098 that Ahithophel H302 hath given H3289 (QalPerf) [is] not good H2896 at this time. H6471

και ειπεν χουσι προς αβεσσαλωμ ουκ αγαθη αυτη η βουλη ην εβουλευσατο αχιτοφελ το απαξ τουτο

Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For Yahweh had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Yahweh might bring evil on Absalom.

And Absalom H53 and all the men H376 of Israel H3478 said, H559 (QalImpf) The counsel H6098 of Hushai H2365 the Archite H757 [is] better H2896 than the counsel H6098 of Ahithophel. H302 For the Lord H3068 had appointed H6680 (PielPerf) to defeat H6565 (HiphInf) the good H2896 counsel H6098 of Ahithophel, H302 to the intent H5668 that the Lord H3068 might bring H935 (HiphInf) evil H7451 upon Absalom. H53

και ειπεν αβεσσαλωμ και πας ανηρ ισραηλ αγαθη η βουλη χουσι του αραχι υπερ την βουλην αχιτοφελ και κυριος ενετειλατο διασκεδασαι την βουλην αχιτοφελ την αγαθην οπως αν επαγαγη κυριος επι αβεσσαλωμ τα κακα παντα

Then Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, “Ahithophel counseled Absalom and the elders of Israel that way; and I have counseled this way.

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Hushai H2365 unto Zadok H6659 and to Abiathar H54 the priests, H3548 Thus and thus did Ahithophel H302 counsel H3289 (QalPerf) Absalom H53 and the elders H2205 of Israel; H3478 and thus and thus have I counselled. H3289 (QalPerf)

και ειπεν χουσι ο του αραχι προς σαδωκ και αβιαθαρ τους ιερεις ουτως και ουτως συνεβουλευσεν αχιτοφελ τω αβεσσαλωμ και τοις πρεσβυτεροις ισραηλ και ουτως και ουτως συνεβουλευσα εγω

After they had departed, they came up out of the well and went and told King David; and they said to David, “Arise and pass quickly over the water; for thus has Ahithophel counseled against you.”

And it came to pass, after H310 they were departed, H3212 (QalInf) that they came up H5927 (QalImpf) out of the well, H875 and went H3212 (QalImpf) and told H5046 (HiphImpf) king H4428 David, H1732 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto David, H1732 Arise, H6965 (QalImpv) and pass quickly H4120 over H5674 (QalImpv) the water: H4325 for thus hath Ahithophel H302 counselled H3289 (QalPerf) against you.

εγενετο δε μετα το απελθειν αυτους και ανεβησαν εκ του λακκου και επορευθησαν και ανηγγειλαν τω βασιλει δαυιδ και ειπαν προς δαυιδ αναστητε και διαβητε ταχεως το υδωρ οτι ουτως εβουλευσατο περι υμων αχιτοφελ

When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, arose, and went home to his city, set his house in order, and hanged himself; and he died, and was buried in the tomb of his father.

And when Ahithophel H302 saw H7200 (QalPerf) that his counsel H6098 was not followed, H6213 (NiphPerf) he saddled H2280 (QalImpf) [his] ass, H2543 and arose, H6965 (QalImpf) and gat him home H3212 (QalImpf) to his house, H1004 to his city, H5892 and put his household H1004 in order, H6680 (PielImpf) and hanged H2614 (NiphImpf) himself, and died, H4191 (QalImpf) and was buried H6912 (NiphImpf) in the sepulchre H6913 of his father. H1

και αχιτοφελ ειδεν οτι ουκ εγενηθη η βουλη αυτου και επεσαξεν την ονον αυτου και ανεστη και απηλθεν εις τον οικον αυτου εις την πολιν αυτου και ενετειλατο τω οικω αυτου και απηγξατο και απεθανεν και εταφη εν τω ταφω του πατρος αυτου

Ahithophel was the king’s counselor. Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.

And Ahithophel H302 [was] the king’s H4428 counsellor: H3289 (QalActPtc) and Hushai H2365 the Archite H757 [was] the king’s H4428 companion: H7453

και αχιτοφελ συμβουλος του βασιλεως και χουσι πρωτος φιλος του βασιλεως

After Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. Joab was the captain of the king’s army.

And after H310 Ahithophel H302 [was] Jehoiada H3077 the son H1121 of Benaiah, H1141 and Abiathar: H54 and the general H8269 of the king’s H4428 army H6635 [was] Joab. H3097
