και ετεχθησαν τω δαυιδ υιοι εν χεβρων και ην ο πρωτοτοκος αυτου αμνων της αχινοομ της ιεζραηλιτιδος

After this, Absalom the son of David had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

And it came to pass after H310 this, that Absalom H53 the son H1121 of David H1732 had a fair H3303 sister, H269 whose name H8034 [was] Tamar; H8559 and Amnon H550 the son H1121 of David H1732 loved H157 (QalImpf) her.

και εγενηθη μετα ταυτα και τω αβεσσαλωμ υιω δαυιδ αδελφη καλη τω ειδει σφοδρα και ονομα αυτη θημαρ και ηγαπησεν αυτην αμνων υιος δαυιδ

Amnon was so troubled that he became sick because of his sister Tamar, for she was a virgin, and it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything to her.

And Amnon H550 was so vexed, H3334 (QalImpf) that he fell sick H2470 (HithInf) for his sister H269 Tamar; H8559 for she [was] a virgin; H1330 and Amnon H550 thought H5869 it hard H6381 (NiphImpf) for him to do H6213 (QalInf) any thing H3972 to her.

και εθλιβετο αμνων ωστε αρρωστειν δια θημαρ την αδελφην αυτου οτι παρθενος ην αυτη και υπερογκον εν οφθαλμοις αμνων του ποιησαι τι αυτη

But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David’s brother; and Jonadab was a very subtle man.

But Amnon H550 had a friend, H7453 whose name H8034 [was] Jonadab, H3122 the son H1121 of Shimeah H8093 David’s H1732 brother: H251 and Jonadab H3122 [was] a very H3966 subtil H2450 man. H376

και ην τω αμνων εταιρος και ονομα αυτω ιωναδαβ υιος σαμαα του αδελφου δαυιδ και ιωναδαβ ανηρ σοφος σφοδρα

He said to him, “Why, son of the king, are you so sad from day to day? Won’t you tell me?” Amnon said to him, “I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”

And he said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Why [art] thou, [being] the king’s H4428 son, H1121 lean H1800 from day H1242 to day? H1242 wilt thou not tell H5046 (HiphImpf) me? And Amnon H550 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, I love H157 (QalActPtc) Tamar, H8559 my brother H251 Absalom’s H53 sister. H269

και ειπεν αυτω τι σοι οτι συ ουτως ασθενης υιε του βασιλεως το πρωι πρωι ουκ απαγγελεις μοι και ειπεν αυτω αμνων θημαρ την αδελφην αβεσσαλωμ του αδελφου μου εγω αγαπω

So Amnon lay down and faked being sick. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, “Please let my sister Tamar come and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand.”

So Amnon H550 lay down, H7901 (QalImpf) and made himself sick: H2470 (HithImpf) and when the king H4428 was come H935 (QalImpf) to see H7200 (QalInf) him, Amnon H550 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the king, H4428 I pray thee, let Tamar H8559 my sister H269 come, H935 (QalImpf) and make H3823 (PielImpf) me a couple H8147 of cakes H3834 in my sight, H5869 that I may eat H1262 (QalImpf) at her hand. και εκοιμηθη αμνων και ηρρωστησεν και εισηλθεν ο βασιλευς ιδειν αυτον και ειπεν αμνων προς τον βασιλεα ελθετω δη θημαρ η αδελφη μου προς με και κολλυρισατω εν οφθαλμοις μου δυο κολλυριδας και φαγομαι εκ της χειρος αυτης

Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, “Go now to your brother Amnon’s house, and prepare food for him.”

και απεστειλεν δαυιδ προς θημαρ εις τον οικον λεγων πορευθητι δη εις τον οικον αμνων του αδελφου σου και ποιησον αυτω βρωμα

So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s house; and he was lying down. She took dough, kneaded it, made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.

και επορευθη θημαρ εις τον οικον αμνων αδελφου αυτης και αυτος κοιμωμενος και ελαβεν το σταις και εφυρασεν και εκολλυρισεν κατ οφθαλμους αυτου και ηψησεν τας κολλυριδας

She took the pan and poured them out before him, but he refused to eat. Amnon said, “Have all men leave me.” Then every man went out from him.

και ελαβεν το τηγανον και κατεκενωσεν ενωπιον αυτου και ουκ ηθελησεν φαγειν και ειπεν αμνων εξαγαγετε παντα ανδρα επανωθεν μου και εξηγαγον παντα ανδρα απο επανωθεν αυτου

Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the room, that I may eat from your hand.” Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the room to Amnon her brother.

And Amnon H550 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Tamar, H8559 Bring H935 (HiphImpv) the meat H1279 into the chamber, H2315 that I may eat H1262 (QalImpf) of thine hand. και ειπεν αμνων προς θημαρ εισενεγκε το βρωμα εις το ταμιειον και φαγομαι εκ της χειρος σου και ελαβεν θημαρ τας κολλυριδας ας εποιησεν και εισηνεγκεν τω αμνων αδελφω αυτης εις τον κοιτωνα

Then Amnon hated her with exceedingly great hatred; for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. Amnon said to her, “Arise, be gone!”

Then Amnon H550 hated H8130 (QalImpf) her exceedingly; H3966 H1419 so that the hatred H8135 wherewith he hated H8130 (QalPerf) her [was] greater H1419 than the love H160 wherewith he had loved H157 (QalPerf) her. και εμισησεν αυτην αμνων μισος μεγα σφοδρα οτι μεγα το μισος ο εμισησεν αυτην υπερ την αγαπην ην ηγαπησεν αυτην και ειπεν αυτη αμνων αναστηθι και πορευου

Absalom her brother said to her, “Has Amnon your brother been with you? But now hold your peace, my sister. He is your brother. Don’t take this thing to heart.” So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom’s house.

And Absalom H53 her brother H251 said H559 (QalImpf) unto her, Hath Amnon H550 thy brother H251 been with thee? but hold now thy peace, H2790 (HiphImpv) my sister: H269 he [is] thy brother; H251 regard H7896 (QalImpf) H3820 not this thing. και ειπεν προς αυτην αβεσσαλωμ ο αδελφος αυτης μη αμνων ο αδελφος σου εγενετο μετα σου και νυν αδελφη μου κωφευσον οτι αδελφος σου εστιν μη θης την καρδιαν σου του λαλησαι εις το ρημα τουτο και εκαθισεν θημαρ χηρευουσα εν οικω αβεσσαλωμ του αδελφου αυτης

Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

και ουκ ελαλησεν αβεσσαλωμ μετα αμνων απο πονηρου εως αγαθου οτι εμισει αβεσσαλωμ τον αμνων επι λογου ου εταπεινωσεν θημαρ την αδελφην αυτου

Then Absalom said, “If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us.” The king said to him, “Why should he go with you?”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Absalom, H53 If not, I pray thee, let my brother H251 Amnon H550 go H3212 (QalImpf) with us. And the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Why should he go H3212 (QalImpf) with thee?

και ειπεν αβεσσαλωμ και ει μη πορευθητω δη μεθ ημων αμνων ο αδελφος μου και ειπεν αυτω ο βασιλευς ινα τι πορευθη μετα σου

But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king’s sons go with him.

But Absalom H53 pressed H6555 (QalImpf) him, that he let Amnon H550 and all the king’s H4428 sons H1121 go H7971 (QalImpf) with him.

και εβιασατο αυτον αβεσσαλωμ και απεστειλεν μετ αυτου τον αμνων και παντας τους υιους του βασιλεως και εποιησεν αβεσσαλωμ ποτον κατα τον ποτον του βασιλεως

Absalom commanded his servants, saying, “Mark now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine; and when I tell you, ‘Strike Amnon,’ then kill him. Don’t be afraid. Haven’t I commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant!”

και ενετειλατο αβεσσαλωμ τοις παιδαριοις αυτου λεγων ιδετε ως αν αγαθυνθη η καρδια αμνων εν τω οινω και ειπω προς υμας παταξατε τον αμνων και θανατωσατε αυτον μη φοβηθητε οτι ουχι εγω ειμι εντελλομαι υμιν ανδριζεσθε και γινεσθε εις υιους δυναμεως

The servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and every man got up on his mule and fled.

And the servants H5288 of Absalom H53 did H6213 (QalImpf) unto Amnon H550 as Absalom H53 had commanded. H6680 (PielPerf) Then all the king’s H4428 sons H1121 arose, H6965 (QalImpf) and every man H376 gat him up H7392 (QalImpf) upon his mule, H6505 and fled. H5127 (QalImpf)

και εποιησαν τα παιδαρια αβεσσαλωμ τω αμνων καθα ενετειλατο αυτοις αβεσσαλωμ και ανεστησαν παντες οι υιοι του βασιλεως και επεκαθισαν ανηρ επι την ημιονον αυτου και εφυγαν

Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David’s brother, answered, “Don’t let my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men, the king’s sons, for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Absalom this has been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

And Jonadab, H3122 the son H1121 of Shimeah H8093 David’s H1732 brother, H251 answered H6030 (QalImpf) and said, H559 (QalImpf) Let not my lord H113 suppose H559 (QalImpf) [that] they have slain H4191 (HiphPerf) all the young men H5288 the king’s H4428 sons; H1121 for Amnon H550 only is dead: H4191 (QalPerf) for by the appointment H6310 of Absalom H53 this hath been determined H7760 (QalPasPtc) from the day H3117 that he forced H6031 (PielInf) his sister H269 Tamar. H8559

και απεκριθη ιωναδαβ υιος σαμαα αδελφου δαυιδ και ειπεν μη ειπατω ο κυριος μου ο βασιλευς οτι παντα τα παιδαρια τους υιους του βασιλεως εθανατωσεν οτι αμνων μονωτατος απεθανεν οτι επι στοματος αβεσσαλωμ ην κειμενος απο της ημερας ης εταπεινωσεν θημαρ την αδελφην αυτου

Now therefore don’t let my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king’s sons are dead; for only Amnon is dead.”

Now therefore let not my lord H113 the king H4428 take H7760 (QalImpf) the thing H1697 to his heart, H3820 to think H559 (QalInf) that all the king’s H4428 sons H1121 are dead: H4191 (QalPerf) for Amnon H550 only is dead. H4191 (QalPerf)

και νυν μη θεσθω ο κυριος μου ο βασιλευς επι την καρδιαν αυτου ρημα λεγων παντες οι υιοι του βασιλεως απεθαναν οτι αλλ η αμνων μονωτατος απεθανεν

King David longed to go out to Absalom, for he was comforted concerning Amnon, since he was dead.

And [the soul of] king H4428 David H1732 longed H3615 (PielImpf) to go forth H3318 (QalInf) unto Absalom: H53 for he was comforted H5162 (NiphPerf) concerning Amnon, H550 seeing he was dead. H4191 (QalPerf)

και εκοπασεν το πνευμα του βασιλεως του εξελθειν οπισω αβεσσαλωμ οτι παρεκληθη επι αμνων οτι απεθανεν

Now these were the sons of David, who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second, Daniel, of Abigail the Carmelitess;
