Not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

It shall be, if the wicked man is worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number.

και εσται εαν αξιος η πληγων ο ασεβων και καθιεις αυτον εναντι των κριτων και μαστιγωσουσιν αυτον εναντιον αυτων κατα την ασεβειαν αυτου αριθμω

The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

δικαιοσυνη αμωμους ορθοτομει οδους ασεβεια δε περιπιπτει αδικια

Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.

και ερεις τα δικαιωματα μου τη ανομω εκ των εθνων και τα νομιμα μου εκ των χωρων των κυκλω αυτης διοτι τα δικαιωματα μου απωσαντο και εν τοις νομιμοις μου ουκ επορευθησαν εν αυτοις

The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.

The soul H5315 that sinneth, H2398 (QalActPtc) it shall die. η δε ψυχη η αμαρτανουσα αποθανειται ο δε υιος ου λημψεται την αδικιαν του πατρος αυτου ουδε ο πατηρ λημψεται την αδικιαν του υιου αυτου δικαιοσυνη δικαιου επ αυτον εσται και ανομια ανομου επ αυτον εσται

Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive.

Again, when the wicked H7563 [man] turneth away H7725 (QalInf) from his wickedness H7564 that he hath committed, H6213 (QalPerf) and doeth H6213 (QalImpf) that which is lawful H4941 and right, H6666 he shall save H2421 his soul H5315 alive. H2421 (PielImpf)

και εν τω αποστρεψαι ανομον απο της ανομιας αυτου ης εποιησεν και ποιηση κριμα και δικαιοσυνην ουτος την ψυχην αυτου εφυλαξεν

“You, son of man, tell the children of your people, ‘The righteousness of the righteous will not deliver him in the day of his disobedience. And as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not fall by it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; neither will he who is righteous be able to live by it in the day that he sins.

When the wicked turns from his wickedness and does that which is lawful and right, he will live by it.

και εν τω αποστρεψαι τον αμαρτωλον απο της ανομιας αυτου και ποιηση κριμα και δικαιοσυνην εν αυτοις αυτος ζησεται

He said, “This is Wickedness;” and he threw her down into the middle of the ephah basket; and he threw the lead weight on its mouth.

Now we call the proud happy; yes, those who work wickedness are built up; yes, they tempt God, and escape.’

και νυν ημεις μακαριζομεν αλλοτριους και ανοικοδομουνται παντες ποιουντες ανομα και αντεστησαν θεω και εσωθησαν

“For behold, the day comes, burning like a furnace, when all the proud and all who work wickedness will be stubble. The day that comes will burn them up,” says Yahweh of Armies, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.
