In the beginning, God^§ created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1 The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “אֱלֹהִ֑ים” (Elohim).

The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.

This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh^§ God made the earth and the heavens.

The waters rose very high on the earth. All the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.

The deep’s fountains and the sky’s windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained.

The fear of you and the dread of you will be on every animal of the earth, and on every bird of the sky. Everything that moves along the ground, and all the fish of the sea, are delivered into your hand.

God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

Yahweh’s angel called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,

that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your offspring greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your offspring will possess the gate of his enemies.

Genesis 22:17 Heb. lip

η μην ευλογων ευλογησω σε και πληθυνων πληθυνω το σπερμα σου ως τους αστερας του ουρανου και ως την αμμον την παρα το χειλος της θαλασσης και κληρονομησει το σπερμα σου τας πολεις των υπεναντιων

I will make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.

Genesis 27:39 Or, of the fatness

αποκριθεις δε ισαακ ο πατηρ αυτου ειπεν αυτω ιδου απο της πιοτητος της γης εσται η κατοικησις σου και απο της δροσου του ουρανου ανωθεν

He dreamed and saw a stairway set upon the earth, and its top reached to heaven. Behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

even by the God of your father, who will help you, by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.

Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, “Take handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh.

ειπεν δε κυριος προς μωυσην και ααρων λεγων λαβετε υμεις πληρεις τας χειρας αιθαλης καμιναιας και πασατω μωυσης εις τον ουρανον εναντιον φαραω και εναντιον των θεραποντων αυτου

They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became boils and blisters breaking out on man and on animal.

και ελαβεν την αιθαλην της καμιναιας εναντιον φαραω και επασεν αυτην μωυσης εις τον ουρανον και εγενετο ελκη φλυκτιδες αναζεουσαι εν τοις ανθρωποις και εν τοις τετραποσιν

Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.”

ειπεν δε κυριος προς μωυσην εκτεινον την χειρα σου εις τον ουρανον και εσται χαλαζα επι πασαν γην αιγυπτου επι τε τους ανθρωπους και τα κτηνη και επι πασαν βοτανην την επι της γης

Moses stretched out his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder and hail; and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt.

εξετεινεν δε μωυσης την χειρα εις τον ουρανον και κυριος εδωκεν φωνας και χαλαζαν και διετρεχεν το πυρ επι της γης και εβρεξεν κυριος χαλαζαν επι πασαν γην αιγυπτου

Yahweh said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.”

Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.

Yahweh said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky.”
