A blind and devout exile in Nineveh prays for death in the same hour a young woman named Sarah prays for hers, and the book answers both by sending Tobit's son on a journey with a companion who turns out to be the angel Raphael. It was probably written around 200 BC. Family loyalty, burial of the dead, and care for the poor run all the way through it.
