Introduction
authorship, audience, history
1 Corinthians is the first of Paul's letters to the church in Corinth, a congregation in a wealthy port city and divided about nearly everything. He takes their questions in turn, on factions, lawsuits, marriage, food offered to idols, worship, and spiritual gifts, and answers all of them from the cross. The chapter on love is here.
