Deuteronomy is the fifth and last of the Books of the Law, and it is largely Moses preaching. On the plains of Moab, with the Jordan ahead of the nation and his own death ahead of him, he rehearses the law for the generation born in the wilderness and presses them to choose life. Jesus answered each of the three temptations in Matthew 4 by quoting it.
