2 Kings 7 (WEBP)
[1] Elisha said, “Hear Yahweh’s word. Yahweh says, ‘Tomorrow about this time a seah° of fine flour will be sold for a shekel,° and two seahs of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.’ ”
[2] Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, “Behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, could this thing be?” He said, “Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”
[3] Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate. They said to one another, “Why do we sit here until we die?
[4] If we say, ‘We will enter into the city,’ then the famine is in the city, and we will die there. If we sit still here, we also die. Now therefore come, and let’s surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we will live; and if they kill us, we will only die.”
[5] They rose up in the twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians. When they had come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, no man was there.
[6] For the Lord§ had made the army of the Syrians to hear the sound of chariots and the sound of horses, even the noise of a great army; and they said to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us.”
[7] Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, their horses, and their donkeys, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.
[8] When these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drank, then carried away silver, gold, and clothing and went and hid it. Then they came back, and entered into another tent and carried things from there also, and went and hid them.
[9] Then they said to one another, “We aren’t doing right. Today is a day of good news, and we keep silent. If we wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come, let’s go and tell the king’s household.”
[10] So they came and called to the city gatekeepers; and they told them, “We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, not even a man’s voice, but the horses tied, and the donkeys tied, and the tents as they were.”
[11] Then the gatekeepers called out and told it to the king’s household within.
[12] The king arose in the night, and said to his servants, “I will now show you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we are hungry. Therefore they have gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, ‘When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.’ ”
[13] One of his servants answered, “Please let some people take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it. Behold, they are like all the multitude of Israel who are consumed. Let’s send and see.”
[14] Therefore they took two chariots with horses; and the king sent them out to the Syrian army, saying, “Go and see.”
[15] They went after them to the Jordan; and behold, all the path was full of garments and equipment which the Syrians had cast away in their haste. The messengers returned and told the king.
[16] The people went out and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a seah° of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel,° according to Yahweh’s word.
[17] The king had appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate; and the people trampled over him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.
[18] It happened as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, “Two seahs° of barley for a shekel,° and a seah of fine flour for a shekel, shall be tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria;”
[19] and that captain answered the man of God, and said, “Now, behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, might such a thing be?” and he said, “Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”
[20] It happened like that to him, for the people trampled over him in the gate, and he died.

2 Kings 7 (KJVS)
[1] Then Elisha H477 said H559 (8799), Hear H8085 (8798) ye the word H1697 of the LORD H3068; Thus saith H559 (8804) the LORD H3068, To morrow H4279 about this time H6256 [shall] a measure H5429 of fine flour H5560 [be sold] for a shekel H8255, and two measures H5429 of barley H8184 for a shekel H8255, in the gate H8179 of Samaria H8111.
[2] Then a lord H7991 on whose hand H3027 the king H4428 leaned H8172 (8737) answered H6030 (8799) the man H376 of God H430, and said H559 (8799), Behold, [if] the LORD H3068 would make H6213 (8802) windows H699 in heaven H8064, might this thing H1697 be? And he said H559 (8799), Behold, thou shalt see H7200 (8802) [it] with thine eyes H5869, but shalt not eat H398 (8799) thereof.
[3] And there were four H702 leprous H6879 (8794) men H582 at the entering in H6607 of the gate H8179: and they said H559 (8799) one H376 to another H7453, Why sit H3427 (8802) we here until we die H4191 (8804)?
[4] If we say H559 (8804), We will enter H935 (8799) into the city H5892, then the famine H7458 [is] in the city H5892, and we shall die H4191 (8804) there: and if we sit still H3427 (8804) here, we die H4191 (8804) also. Now therefore come H3212 (8798), and let us fall H5307 (8799) unto the host H4264 of the Syrians H758: if they save us alive H2421 (8762), we shall live H2421 (8799); and if they kill H4191 (8686) us, we shall but die H4191 (8804).
[5] And they rose up H6965 (8799) in the twilight H5399, to go H935 (8800) unto the camp H4264 of the Syrians H758: and when they were come H935 (8799) to the uttermost part H7097 of the camp H4264 of Syria H758, behold, [there was] no man H376 there.
[6] For the Lord H136 had made the host H4264 of the Syrians H758 to hear H8085 (8689) a noise H6963 of chariots H7393, and a noise H6963 of horses H5483, [even] the noise H6963 of a great H1419 host H2428: and they said H559 (8799) one H376 to another H251, Lo, the king H4428 of Israel H3478 hath hired H7936 (8804) against us the kings H4428 of the Hittites H2850, and the kings H4428 of the Egyptians H4714, to come H935 (8800) upon us.
[7] Wherefore they arose H6965 (8799) and fled H5127 (8799) in the twilight H5399, and left H5800 (8799) their tents H168, and their horses H5483, and their asses H2543, even the camp H4264 as it [was], and fled H5127 (8799) for their life H5315.
[8] And when these lepers H6879 (8794) came H935 (8799) to the uttermost part H7097 of the camp H4264, they went H935 (8799) into one H259 tent H168, and did eat H398 (8799) and drink H8354 (8799), and carried H5375 (8799) thence silver H3701, and gold H2091, and raiment H899, and went H3212 (8799) and hid H2934 (8686) [it]; and came again H7725 (8799), and entered H935 (8799) into another H312 tent H168, and carried H5375 (8799) thence [also], and went H3212 (8799) and hid H2934 (8686) [it].
[9] Then they said H559 (8799) one H376 to another H7453, We do H6213 (8802) not well: this day H3117 [is] a day H3117 of good tidings H1309, and we hold our peace H2814 (8688): if we tarry H2442 (8765) till the morning H1242 light H216, some mischief H5771 will come H4672 (8804) upon us: now therefore come H3212 (8798), that we may go H935 (8799) and tell H5046 (8686) the king’s H4428 household H1004.
[10] So they came H935 (8799) and called H7121 (8799) unto the porter H7778 of the city H5892: and they told H5046 (8686) them, saying H559 (8800), We came H935 (8804) to the camp H4264 of the Syrians H758, and, behold, [there was] no man H376 there, neither voice H6963 of man H120, but horses H5483 tied H631 (8803), and asses H2543 tied H631 (8803), and the tents H168 as they [were].
[11] And he called H7121 (8799) the porters H7778; and they told H5046 (8686) [it] to the king’s H4428 house H1004 within H6441.
[12] And the king H4428 arose H6965 (8799) in the night H3915, and said H559 (8799) unto his servants H5650, I will now shew H5046 (8686) you what the Syrians H758 have done H6213 (8804) to us. They know H3045 (8804) that we [be] hungry H7457; therefore are they gone out H3318 (8799) of the camp H4264 to hide H2247 (8736) themselves in the field H7704, saying H559 (8800), When they come out H3318 (8799) of the city H5892, we shall catch H8610 (8799) them alive H2416, and get H935 (8799) into the city H5892.
[13] And one H259 of his servants H5650 answered H6030 (8799) and said H559 (8799), Let [some] take H3947 (8799), I pray thee, five H2568 of the horses H5483 that remain H7604 (8737), which are left H7604 (8738) in the city, (behold, they [are] as all the multitude H1995 of Israel H3478 that are left H7604 (8738) in it: behold, [I say], they [are] even as all the multitude H1995 of the Israelites H3478 that are consumed H8552 (8804):) and let us send H7971 (8799) and see H7200 (8799).
[14] They took H3947 (8799) therefore two H8147 chariot H7393 horses H5483; and the king H4428 sent H7971 (8799) after H310 the host H4264 of the Syrians H758, saying H559 (8800), Go H3212 (8798) and see H7200 (8798).
[15] And they went H3212 (8799) after H310 them unto Jordan H3383: and, lo, all the way H1870 [was] full H4392 of garments H899 and vessels H3627, which the Syrians H758 had cast away H7993 (8689) in their haste H2648 (8800). And the messengers H4397 returned H7725 (8799), and told H5046 (8686) the king H4428.
[16] And the people H5971 went out H3318 (8799), and spoiled H962 (8799) the tents H4264 of the Syrians H758. So a measure H5429 of fine flour H5560 was [sold] for a shekel H8255, and two measures H5429 of barley H8184 for a shekel H8255, according to the word H1697 of the LORD H3068.
[17] And the king H4428 appointed H6485 (8689) the lord H7991 on whose hand H3027 he leaned H8172 (8737) to have the charge of the gate H8179: and the people H5971 trode H7429 (8799) upon him in the gate H8179, and he died H4191 (8799), as the man H376 of God H430 had said H1696 (8765), who spake H1696 (8765) when the king H4428 came down H3381 (8800) to him.
[18] And it came to pass as the man H376 of God H430 had spoken H1696 (8763) to the king H4428, saying H559 (8800), Two measures H5429 of barley H8184 for a shekel H8255, and a measure H5429 of fine flour H5560 for a shekel H8255, shall be to morrow H4279 about this time H6256 in the gate H8179 of Samaria H8111:
[19] And that lord H7991 answered H6030 (8799) the man H376 of God H430, and said H559 (8799), Now, behold, [if] the LORD H3068 should make H6213 (8802) windows H699 in heaven H8064, might such a thing H1697 be? And he said H559 (8799), Behold, thou shalt see H7200 (8802) it with thine eyes H5869, but shalt not eat H398 (8799) thereof.
[20] And so it fell out unto him: for the people H5971 trode H7429 (8799) upon him in the gate H8179, and he died H4191 (8799).
Young’s Literal Translation
2 Kings 7 (YLT)
[1] And Elisha saith, ‘Hear ye a word of Jehovah: thus said Jehovah, About this time to-morrow, a measure of fine flour is at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.’
[2] And the captain whom the king hath, by whose hand he hath been supported, answereth the man of God and saith, ‘Lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens-shall this thing be?’ and he saith, ‘Lo, thou art seeing it with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat.’
[3] And four men have been leprous, at the opening of the gate, and they say one unto another, ‘What-we are sitting here till we have died;
[4] if we have said, We go in to the city, then the famine is in the city, and we have died there; and if we have sat here, then we have died; and now, come and we fall unto the camp of Aram; if they keep us alive, we live, and if they put us to death-we have died.’
[5] And they rise in the twilight, to go in unto the camp of Aram, and they come in unto the extremity of the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not a man there,
[6] seeing Jehovah hath caused the camp of Aram to hear a noise of chariot and a noise of horse-a noise of great force, and they say one unto another, ‘Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us.’
[7] And they rise and flee in the twilight, and forsake their tents, and their horses, and their asses-the camp as it is-and flee for their life.
[8] And these lepers come in unto the extremity of the camp, and come in unto one tent, and eat, and drink, and lift up thence silver, and gold, and garments, and go and hide; and they turn back and go in unto another tent, and lift up thence, and go and hide.
[9] And they say one unto another, ‘We are not doing right this day; a day of tidings it is, and we are keeping silent; and-we have waited till the light of the morning, then hath punishment found us; and now, come and we go in and declare to the house of the king.’
[10] And they come in, and call unto the gatekeeper of the city, and declare for themselves, saying, ‘We have come in unto the camp of Aram, and lo, there is not there a man, or sound of man, but the bound horse, and the bound ass, and tents as they are.’
[11] and he calleth the gatekeepers, and they declare to the house of the king within.
[12] And the king riseth by night, and saith unto his servants, ‘Let me declare, I pray you, to you that which the Aramaeans have done to us; they have known that we are famished, and they are gone out from the camp to be hidden in the field, saying, When they come out from the city, then we catch them alive, and unto the city we enter.’
[13] And one of his servants answereth and saith, ‘Then let them take, I pray thee, five of the horses that are left, that have been left in it-lo, they are as all the multitude of Israel who have been left in it; lo, they are as all the multitude of Israel who have been consumed-and we send and see.’
[14] And they take two chariot-horses, and the king sendeth after the camp of Aram, saying, ‘Go, and see.’
[15] And they go after them unto the Jordan, and lo, all the way is full of garments and vessels that the Aramaeans have cast away in their haste, and the messengers turn back and declare to the king.
[16] And the people go out and spoil the camp of Aram, and there is a measure of fine flour at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, according to the word of Jehovah.
[17] And the king hath appointed the captain, by whose hand he is supported, over the gate, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth, as the man of God spake, which he spake in the coming down of the king unto him,
[18] yea, it cometh to pass, according to the speaking of the man of God unto the king, saying, ‘Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine flour at a shekel are, at this time to-morrow, in the gate of Samaria;’
[19] and the captain answereth the man of God, and saith, ‘And lo, Jehovah is making windows in the heavens-it is according to this word?’ and he saith, ‘Lo, thou art seeing with thine eyes, and thereof thou dost not eat;’
[20] and it cometh to him so, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dieth.
