2 Kings 14 (WEBP)
[1] In the second year of Joash, son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.
[2] He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.
[3] He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, yet not like David his father. He did according to all that Joash his father had done.
[4] However the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
[5] As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,
[6] but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death, according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”
[7] He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela by war, and called its name Joktheel, to this day.
[8] Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let’s look one another in the face.”
[9] Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as wife.’ Then a wild animal that was in Lebanon passed by, and trampled down the thistle.
[10] You have indeed struck Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy the glory of it, and stay at home; for why should you meddle to your harm, that you fall, even you, and Judah with you?”
[11] But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
[12] Judah was defeated by Israel; and each man fled to his tent.
[13] Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh and came to Jerusalem, then broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.°
[14] He took all the gold and silver and all the vessels that were found in Yahweh’s house and in the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
[15] Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[16] Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.
[17] Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, fifteen years.
[18] Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
[19] They made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
[20] They brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in David’s city.
[21] All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.
[22] He built Elath and restored it to Judah. After that the king slept with his fathers.
[23] In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria for forty-one years.
[24] He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight. He didn’t depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.
[25] He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath to the sea of the Arabah, according to Yahweh, the God of Israel’s word, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was from Gath Hepher.
[26] For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter for all, slave and free; and there was no helper for Israel.
[27] Yahweh didn’t say that he would blot out the name of Israel from under the sky; but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
[28] Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he fought, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, for Israel, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[29] Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his place.
2 Kings 14:13 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

2 Kings 14 (KJVS)
[1] In the second H8147 year H8141 of Joash H3101 son H1121 of Jehoahaz H3099 king H4428 of Israel H3478 reigned H4427 (8804) Amaziah H558 the son H1121 of Joash H3101 king H4428 of Judah H3063.
[2] He was twenty H6242 and five H2568 years H8141 old H1121 when he began to reign H4427 (8800), and reigned H4427 (8804) twenty H6242 and nine H8672 years H8141 in Jerusalem H3389. And his mother’s H517 name H8034 [was] Jehoaddan H3086 of Jerusalem H3389.
[3] And he did H6213 (8799) [that which was] right H3477 in the sight H5869 of the LORD H3068, yet H7535 not like David H1732 his father H1: he did H6213 (8804) according to all things as Joash H3101 his father H1 did H6213 (8804).
[4] Howbeit the high places H1116 were not taken away H5493 (8804): as yet H5750 the people H5971 did sacrifice H2076 (8764) and burnt incense H6999 (8764) on the high places H1116.
[5] And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom H4467 was confirmed H2388 (8804) in his hand H3027, that he slew H5221 (8686) his servants H5650 which had slain H5221 (8688) the king H4428 his father H1.
[6] But the children H1121 of the murderers H5221 (8688) he slew H4191 (8689) not: according unto that which is written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the law H8451 of Moses H4872, wherein the LORD H3068 commanded H6680 (8765), saying H559 (8800), The fathers H1 shall not be put to death H4191 (8714) for the children H1121, nor the children H1121 be put to death H4191 (8714) for the fathers H1; but every man H376 shall be put to death H4191 (8799) for his own sin H2399.
[7] He slew H5221 (8689) of Edom H123 in the valley H1516 of salt H4417 ten H6235 thousand H505, and took H8610 (8804) Selah H5554 by war H4421, and called H7121 (8799) the name H8034 of it Joktheel H3371 unto this day H3117.
[8] Then Amaziah H558 sent H7971 (8804) messengers H4397 to Jehoash H3060, the son H1121 of Jehoahaz H3059 son H1121 of Jehu H3058, king H4428 of Israel H3478, saying H559 (8800), Come H3212 (8798), let us look H7200 (8691) one another in the face H6440.
[9] And Jehoash H3060 the king H4428 of Israel H3478 sent H7971 (8799) to Amaziah H558 king H4428 of Judah H3063, saying H559 (8800), The thistle H2336 that [was] in Lebanon H3844 sent H7971 (8804) to the cedar H730 that [was] in Lebanon H3844, saying H559 (8800), Give H5414 (8798) thy daughter H1323 to my son H1121 to wife H802: and there passed H5674 (8799) by a wild H7704 beast H2416 that [was] in Lebanon H3844, and trode down H7429 (8799) the thistle H2336.
[10] Thou hast indeed H5221 (8687) smitten H5221 (8689) Edom H123, and thine heart H3820 hath lifted thee up H5375 (8804): glory H3513 (8734) [of this], and tarry H3427 (8798) at home H1004: for why shouldest thou meddle H1624 (8691) to [thy] hurt H7451, that thou shouldest fall H5307 (8804), [even] thou, and Judah H3063 with thee?
[11] But Amaziah H558 would not hear H8085 (8804). Therefore Jehoash H3060 king H4428 of Israel H3478 went up H5927 (8799); and he and Amaziah H558 king H4428 of Judah H3063 looked H7200 (8691) one another in the face H6440 at Bethshemesh H1053, which [belongeth] to Judah H3063.
[12] And Judah H3063 was put to the worse H5062 (8735) before H6440 Israel H3478; and they fled H5127 (8799) every man H376 to their tents H168.
[13] And Jehoash H3060 king H4428 of Israel H3478 took H8610 (8804) Amaziah H558 king H4428 of Judah H3063, the son H1121 of Jehoash H3060 the son H1121 of Ahaziah H274, at Bethshemesh H1053, and came H935 (8799) to Jerusalem H3389, and brake down H6555 (8799) the wall H2346 of Jerusalem H3389 from the gate H8179 of Ephraim H669 unto the corner H6438 gate H8179, four H702 hundred H3967 cubits H520.
[14] And he took H3947 (8804) all the gold H2091 and silver H3701, and all the vessels H3627 that were found H4672 (8737) in the house H1004 of the LORD H3068, and in the treasures H214 of the king’s H4428 house H1004, and hostages H1121 H8594, and returned H7725 (8799) to Samaria H8111.
[15] Now the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 of Jehoash H3060 which he did H6213 (8804), and his might H1369, and how he fought H3898 (8738) with Amaziah H558 king H4428 of Judah H3063, [are] they not written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel H3478?
[16] And Jehoash H3060 slept H7901 (8799) with his fathers H1, and was buried H6912 (8735) in Samaria H8111 with the kings H4428 of Israel H3478; and Jeroboam H3379 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (8799) in his stead.
[17] And Amaziah H558 the son H1121 of Joash H3101 king H4428 of Judah H3063 lived H2421 (8799) after H310 the death H4194 of Jehoash H3060 son H1121 of Jehoahaz H3059 king H4428 of Israel H3478 fifteen H2568 H6240 years H8141.
[18] And the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 of Amaziah H558, [are] they not written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of the kings H4428 of Judah H3063?
[19] Now they made H7194 (8799) a conspiracy H7195 against him in Jerusalem H3389: and he fled H5127 (8799) to Lachish H3923; but they sent H7971 (8799) after H310 him to Lachish H3923, and slew H4191 (8686) him there.
[20] And they brought H5375 (8799) him on horses H5483: and he was buried H6912 (8735) at Jerusalem H3389 with his fathers H1 in the city H5892 of David H1732.
[21] And all the people H5971 of Judah H3063 took H3947 (8799) Azariah H5838, which [was] sixteen H8337 H6240 years H8141 old H1121, and made him king H4427 (8686) instead of his father H1 Amaziah H558.
[22] He built H1129 (8804) Elath H359, and restored H7725 (8686) it to Judah H3063, after H310 that the king H4428 slept H7901 (8800) with his fathers H1.
[23] In the fifteenth H2568 H6240 H8141 year H8141 of Amaziah H558 the son H1121 of Joash H3101 king H4428 of Judah H3063 Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Joash H3101 king H4428 of Israel H3478 began to reign H4427 (8804) in Samaria H8111, [and reigned] forty H705 and one H259 years H8141.
[24] And he did H6213 (8799) [that which was] evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the LORD H3068: he departed H5493 (8804) not from all the sins H2403 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat H5028, who made Israel H3478 to sin H2398 (8689).
[25] He restored H7725 (8689) the coast H1366 of Israel H3478 from the entering H935 (8800) of Hamath H2574 unto the sea H3220 of the plain H6160, according to the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478, which he spake H1696 (8765) by the hand H3027 of his servant H5650 Jonah H3124, the son H1121 of Amittai H573, the prophet H5030, which [was] of Gathhepher H1662.
[26] For the LORD H3068 saw H7200 (8804) the affliction H6040 of Israel H3478, [that it was] very H3966 bitter H4784 (8802): for [there was] not H657 any shut up H6113 (8803), nor any left H5800 (8803), nor any helper H5826 (8802) for Israel H3478.
[27] And the LORD H3068 said H1696 (8765) not that he would blot out H4229 (8800) the name H8034 of Israel H3478 from under heaven H8064: but he saved H3467 (8686) them by the hand H3027 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Joash H3101.
[28] Now the rest H3499 of the acts H1697 of Jeroboam H3379, and all that he did H6213 (8804), and his might H1369, how he warred H3898 (8738), and how he recovered H7725 (8689) Damascus H1834, and Hamath H2574, [which belonged] to Judah H3063, for Israel H3478, are they not written H3789 (8803) in the book H5612 of the chronicles H1697 H3117 of the kings H4428 of Israel H3478?
[29] And Jeroboam H3379 slept H7901 (8799) with his fathers H1, [even] with the kings H4428 of Israel H3478; and Zachariah H2148 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (8799) in his stead.
Young’s Literal Translation
2 Kings 14 (YLT)
[1] In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned hath Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah;
[2] a son of twenty and five years was he in his reigning, and twenty and nine years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother is Jehoaddan of Jerusalem,
[3] and he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, only not like David his father, according to all that Joash his father did he hath done,
[4] only, the high places have not turned aside-yet are the people sacrificing and making perfume in high places.
[5] And it cometh to pass, when the kingdom hath been strong in his hand, that he smiteth his servants, those smiting the king his father,
[6] and the sons of those smiting him he hath not put to death, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses that Jehovah commanded, saying, ‘Fathers are not put to death for sons, and sons are not put to death for fathers, but each for his own sin is put to death.’
[7] He hath smitten Edom, in the valley of salt-ten thousand, and seized Selah in war, and one calleth its name Joktheel unto this day,
[8] then hath Amaziah sent messengers unto Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, ‘Come, we look one another in the face.’
[9] And Jehoash king of Israel sendeth unto Amaziah king of Judah, saying, ‘The thorn that is in Lebanon hath sent unto the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife; and pass by doth a beast of the field that is in Lebanon, and treadeth down the thorn.
[10] Thou hast certainly smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up; be honoured, and abide in thy house; and why dost thou stir thyself up in evil, that thou hast fallen, thou, and Judah with thee?’
[11] And Amaziah hath not hearkened, and go up doth Jehoash king of Israel, and they look one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, in Beth-Shemesh, that is Judah’s,
[12] and Judah is smitten before Israel, and they flee each to his tent.
[13] And Amaziah king of Judah, son of Jehoash son of Ahaziah, caught hath Jehoash king of Israel in Beth-Shemesh, and they come in to Jerusalem, and he bursteth through the wall of Jerusalem, at the gate of Ephraim unto the gate of the corner, four hundred cubits,
[14] and hath taken all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that are found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the house of the king, and the sons of the pledges, and turneth back to Samaria.
[15] And the rest of the matters of Jehoash that he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[16] And Jehoash lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel, and reign doth Jeroboam his son in his stead.
[17] And Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah liveth after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years,
[18] and the rest of the matters of Amaziah are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?
[19] And they make a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fleeth to Lachish, and they send after him to Lachish, and put him to death there,
[20] and lift him up on the horses, and he is buried in Jerusalem, with his fathers, in the city of David.
[21] And all the people of Judah take Azariah, and he is a son of sixteen years, and cause him to reign instead of his father Amaziah;
[22] he hath built Elath, and bringeth it back to Judah, after the lying of the king with his fathers.
[23] In the fifteenth year of Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah, reigned hath Jeroboam son of Joash king of Israel in Samaria-forty and one years,
[24] and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat that he caused Israel to sin.
[25] He hath brought back the border of Israel, from the entering in of Hamath unto the sea of the desert, according to the word of Jehovah, God of Israel, that He spake by the hand of His servant Jonah son of Amittai the prophet, who is of Gath-Hepher,
[26] for Jehovah hath seen the affliction of Israel-very bitter, and there is none restrained, and there is none left, and there is no helper to Israel;
[27] and Jehovah hath not spoken to blot out the name of Israel from under the heavens, and saveth them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Joash.
[28] And the rest of the matters of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought, and with which he brought back Damascus, and Hamath of Judah, into Israel, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
[29] And Jeroboam lieth with his fathers, with the kings of Israel, and reign doth Zechariah his son in his stead.
