και ενετειλαμην τω ανανια αδελφω μου και τω ανανια αρχοντι της βιρα εν ιερουσαλημ οτι αυτος ως ανηρ αληθης και φοβουμενος τον θεον παρα πολλους

Of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.

και συ εν οικτιρμοις σου τοις πολλοις ουκ εγκατελιπες αυτους εν τη ερημω τον στυλον της νεφελης ουκ εξεκλινας απ αυτων ημερας οδηγησαι αυτους εν τη οδω και τον στυλον του πυρος την νυκτα φωτιζειν αυτοις την οδον εν η πορευσονται εν αυτη

It yields much increase to the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins. Also they have power over our bodies and over our livestock, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus was pacified, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.

After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.

It was written in the name of King Ahasuerus, and it was sealed with the king’s ring.

Then Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart, but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he didn’t stand up nor move for him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.

Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

It was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, who were doorkeepers, who had tried to lay hands on the King Ahasuerus.

Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine; and Haman had fallen on the couch where Esther was. Then the king said, “Will he even assault the queen in front of me in the house?” As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.

Then Harbonah, one of the eunuchs who were with the king, said, “Behold, the gallows fifty cubits° high, which Haman has made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, is standing at Haman’s house.” The king said, “Hang him on it!”

Esther 7:9 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

The king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Esther spoke yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet and begged him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his plan that he had planned against the Jews.

She said, “If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and the thing seems right to the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces.

Then Esther said, “If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Susa to do tomorrow also according to today’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows.”

but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plan, which he had planned against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

But when [Esther] came H935 (QalInf) before H6440 the king, H4428 he commanded H559 (QalPerf) by letters H5612 that his wicked H7451 device, H4284 which he devised H2803 (QalPerf) against the Jews, H3064 should return H7725 (QalImpf) upon his own head, H7218 and that he and his sons H1121 should be hanged H8518 (QalPerf) on the gallows. και ως εισηλθεν προς τον βασιλεα λεγων κρεμασαι τον μαρδοχαιον οσα δε επεχειρησεν επαξαι επι τους ιουδαιους κακα επ αυτον εγενοντο και εκρεμασθη αυτος και τα τεκνα αυτου

Therefore they called these days “Purim”,° from the word “Pur.” Therefore because of all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and that which had come to them,

Esther 9:26 Purim is the Hebrew plural for pur, which means lot.

Yahweh said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil.”

Yahweh said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil. He still maintains his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause.”

When they lifted up their eyes from a distance, and didn’t recognize him, they raised their voices, and wept; and they each tore his robe, and sprinkled dust on their heads toward the sky.

For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas, therefore my words have been rash.

και δη αμμου παραλιας βαρυτερα εσται αλλ ως εοικεν τα ρηματα μου εστιν φαυλα

Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? Or does the ox low over his fodder?

Doth the wild ass H6501 bray H5101 (QalImpf) when he hath grass? H1877 or loweth H1600 (QalImpf) the ox H7794 over his fodder? H1098

τι γαρ μη δια κενης κεκραξεται ονος αγριος αλλ η τα σιτα ζητων ει δε και ρηξει φωνην βους επι φατνης εχων τα βρωματα
