και ειπεν αυτοις υμεις ακηκοατε παντα οσα ενετειλατο υμιν μωυσης ο παις κυριου και επηκουσατε της φωνης μου κατα παντα οσα ενετειλαμην υμιν

that you must turn away today from following Yahweh? It will be, since you rebel today against Yahweh, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.

και υμεις αποστραφησεσθε σημερον απο κυριου και εσται εαν αποστητε σημερον απο κυριου και αυριον επι παντα ισραηλ εσται η οργη

You have seen all that Yahweh your God has done to all these nations because of you; for it is Yahweh your God who has fought for you.

“For Yahweh has driven great and strong nations out from before you. But as for you, no man has stood before you to this day.

He said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.

και ειπαν οι υιοι ισραηλ προς κυριον ημαρτομεν ποιησον συ ημιν κατα παντα οσα αν αρεσκη ενωπιον σου πλην κυριε εξελου ημας εν τη ημερα ταυτη

Gilead’s wife bore him sons. When his wife’s sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out and said to him, “You will not inherit in our father’s house, for you are the son of another woman.”

και ετεκεν η γυνη γαλααδ αυτω υιους και ηδρυνθησαν οι υιοι της γυναικος και εξεβαλον τον ιεφθαε και ειπον αυτω ου κληρονομησεις εν τω οικω του πατρος ημων οτι γυναικος υιος εταιρας ει συ

Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, “Didn’t you hate me, and drive me out of my father’s house? Why have you come to me now when you are in distress?”

και ειπεν ιεφθαε τοις πρεσβυτεροις γαλααδ ουχ υμεις εμισησατε με και εξεβαλετε με εκ του οικου του πατρος μου και εξαπεστειλατε με αφ υμων και τι οτι ηλθατε προς με ηνικα εθλιβητε

Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, “If you bring me home again to fight with the children of Ammon, and Yahweh delivers them before me, will I be your head?”

και ειπεν ιεφθαε προς τους πρεσβυτερους γαλααδ ει επιστρεφετε με υμεις πολεμησαι εν τοις υιοις αμμων και παραδω κυριος αυτους ενωπιον εμου εγω υμιν εσομαι εις κεφαλην

So now Yahweh, the God of Israel, has dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and should you possess them?

και νυν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ εξηρεν τον αμορραιον εκ προσωπου του λαου αυτου ισραηλ και συ κληρονομησεις αυτον επι σου

Now are you anything better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them?

και νυν μη κρεισσων ει συ του βαλακ υιου σεπφωρ βασιλεως μωαβ μη μαχη εμαχεσατο μετα ισραηλ η πολεμων επολεμησεν αυτοις

Therefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to war against me. May Yahweh the Judge be judge today between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.”

και εγω ουχ ημαρτον σοι και συ ποιεις μετ εμου πονηριαν του πολεμησαι εν εμοι κριναι κυριος ο κρινων σημερον ανα μεσον υιων ισραηλ και ανα μεσον υιων αμμων

When he saw her, he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you are one of those who trouble me; for I have opened my mouth to Yahweh, and I can’t go back.”

και εγενηθη ηνικα ειδεν αυτην και διερρηξεν τα ιματια αυτου και ειπεν οιμμοι θυγατερ μου εμπεποδοστατηκας με εις σκωλον εγενου εν οφθαλμοις μου εγω δε ηνοιξα το στομα μου περι σου προς κυριον και ου δυνησομαι αποστρεψαι

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, “You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the middle of Ephraim, and in the middle of Manasseh.”

και συνηθροισεν ιεφθαε παντας τους ανδρας γαλααδ και επολεμει τον εφραιμ και επαταξαν ανδρες γαλααδ τον εφραιμ οτι ειπαν οι διασεσωσμενοι του εφραιμ υμεις γαλααδ εν μεσω εφραιμ και εν μεσω μανασση

The Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. Whenever a fugitive of Ephraim said, “Let me go over,” the men of Gilead said to him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he said, “No;”

και προκατελαβοντο ανδρες γαλααδ τας διαβασεις του ιορδανου του εφραιμ και εγενηθη οτι ειπαν οι διασεσωσμενοι του εφραιμ διαβωμεν και ειπαν αυτοις οι ανδρες γαλααδ μη υμεις εκ του εφραιμ και ειπαν ουκ εσμεν

Yahweh’s angel appeared to the woman, and said to her, “See now, you are barren and childless; but you shall conceive and bear a son.

και ωφθη αγγελος κυριου προς την γυναικα και ειπεν προς αυτην ιδου δη συ στειρα και ου τετοκας και εν γαστρι εξεις και τεξη υιον

Manoah arose and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to my wife?” He said, “I am.”

και ανεστη μανωε και επορευθη οπισω της γυναικος αυτου προς τον ανδρα και ειπεν αυτω ει συ ει ο ανηρ ο λαλησας προς την γυναικα και ειπεν ο αγγελος εγω

Then his father and his mother said to him, “Isn’t there a woman among your brothers’ daughters, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?” Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she pleases me well.”

but if you can’t tell me the answer, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing.” They said to him, “Tell us your riddle, that we may hear it.”

και εαν μη δυνασθητε απαγγειλαι μοι και δωσετε υμεις εμοι τριακοντα σινδονας και τριακοντα στολας ιματιων και ειπαν αυτω προβαλου το προβλημα σου και ακουσομεθα αυτου

They said to him, “We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” Samson said to them, “Swear to me that you will not attack me yourselves.”

και ειπαν αυτω του δησαι σε κατεβημεν και παραδουναι σε εις χειρας αλλοφυλων και ειπεν αυτοις σαμψων ομοσατε μοι μη αποκτειναι με υμεις και παραδοτε με αυτοις μηποτε απαντησητε υμεις εν εμοι
