He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and the sky, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north, where there was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

And He putteth forth a form of a hand, and taketh me by a lock of my head, and lift me up doth a spirit between the earth and the heavens, and it bringeth me in to Jerusalem in visions of God, unto the opening of the inner gate that is facing the north, where is the seat of the figure of jealousy that is making jealous,

Behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the plain.

And, behold, the glory H3519 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 [was] there, according to the vision H4758 that I saw H7200 (QalPerf) in the plain. H1237

and lo, there the honour of the God of Israel, as the appearance that I saw in the valley.

He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But you will again see yet other great abominations.”

He said H559 (QalImpf) furthermore unto me, Son H1121 of man, H120 seest H7200 (QalActPtc) thou what they do? H6213 (QalActPtc) [even] the great H1419 abominations H8441 that the house H1004 of Israel H3478 committeth H6213 (QalActPtc) here, that I should go far off H7368 (QalInf) from my sanctuary? H4720 but turn H7725 (QalImpf) thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see H7200 (QalImpf) greater H1419 abominations. H8441

And He saith unto me, ‘Son of man, art thou seeing what they are doing? the great abominations that the house of Israel are doing here, to keep far off from My sanctuary; and again thou dost turn, thou dost see great abominations.’

Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say, ‘Yahweh doesn’t see us. Yahweh has forsaken the land.’ ”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) he unto me, Son H1121 of man, H120 hast thou seen H7200 (QalPerf) what the ancients H2205 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 do H6213 (QalActPtc) in the dark, H2822 every man H376 in the chambers H2315 of his imagery? And He saith unto me, ‘Hast thou seen, son of man, that which elders of the house of Israel are doing in darkness, each in the inner chambers of his imagery, for they are saying, Jehovah is not seeing us, Jehovah hath forsaken the land?’

He said also to me, “You will again see more of the great abominations which they do.”

He said H559 (QalImpf) also unto me, Turn H7725 (QalImpf) thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see H7200 (QalImpf) greater H1419 abominations H8441 that they do. H6213 (QalActPtc)

And He saith unto me, ‘Again thou dost turn, thou dost see great abominations that they are doing.’

Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh’s house which was toward the north; and I saw the women sit there weeping for Tammuz.

And He bringeth me in unto the opening of the gate of the house of Jehovah that is at the north, and lo, there the women are sitting weeping for Tammuz.

Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger. Behold, they put the branch to their nose.

Then he said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Hast thou seen H7200 (QalPerf) [this], O son H1121 of man? And He saith unto me, ‘Hast thou seen, son of man? hath it been a light thing to the house of Judah to do the abomination that they have done here, that they have filled the land with violence, and turn back to provoke Me to anger? and lo, they are putting forth the branch unto their nose!

Behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lies toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand. One man in the middle of them was clothed in linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side. They went in, and stood beside the bronze altar.

And, behold, six H8337 men H582 came H935 (QalActPtc) from the way H1870 of the higher H5945 gate, H8179 which lieth H6437 (HophPtc) toward the north, H6828 and every man H376 a slaughter H4660 weapon H3627 in his hand; H3027 and one H259 man H376 among H8432 them [was] clothed H3847 (QalPasPtc) with linen, H906 with a writer’s H5608 (QalActPtc) inkhorn H7083 by his side: H4975 and they went in, H935 (QalImpf) and stood H5975 (QalImpf) beside H681 the brasen H5178 altar. And lo, six men are coming from the way of the upper gate, that is facing the north, and each his slaughter-weapon in his hand, and one man in their midst is clothed with linen, and a scribe’s inkhorn at his loins, and they come in, and stand near the brazen altar.

The glory of the God of Israel went up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house; and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn by his side.

And the honour of the God of Israel hath gone up from off the cherub, on which it hath been, unto the threshold of the house.

Kill utterly the old man, the young man, the virgin, little children and women; but don’t come near any man on whom is the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” Then they began at the old men who were before the house.

aged, young man, and virgin, and infant, and women, ye do slay-to destruction; and against any man on whom is the mark ye do not go nigh, and from My sanctuary ye begin.’

Behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, “I have done as you have commanded me.”

And, behold, the man H376 clothed H3847 (QalPasPtc) with linen, H906 which [had] the inkhorn H7083 by his side, H4975 reported H7725 (HiphPtc) the matter, H1697 saying, H559 (QalInf) I have done H6213 (QalPerf) as thou hast commanded H6680 (PielPerf) me.

And lo, the man clothed with linen, at whose loins is the inkhorn, is bringing back word, saying, ‘I have done as Thou hast commanded me.’

The cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took some of it, and put it into the hands of him who was clothed in linen, who took it and went out.

that the one cherub putteth forth his hand from between the cherubs unto the fire that is between the cherubs, and lifteth up, and giveth into the hands of him who is clothed with linen, and he receiveth, and cometh forth.

As for their appearance, the four of them had one likeness, like a wheel within a wheel.

And [as for] their appearances, H4758 they four H702 had one H259 likeness, H1823 as if a wheel H212 had been in the midst H8432 of a wheel. H212

As to their appearances, one likeness is to them four, as it were the wheel in the midst of the wheel.

When they went, they went in their four directions. They didn’t turn as they went, but to the place where the head looked they followed it. They didn’t turn as they went.

In their going, on their four sides they go; they turn not round in their going, for to the place whither the head turneth, after it they go, they turn not round in their going.

As for the likeness of their faces, they were the faces which I saw by the river Chebar, their appearances and themselves. They each went straight forward.

And the likeness H1823 of their faces H6440 [was] the same H1992 faces H6440 which I saw H7200 (QalPerf) by the river H5104 of Chebar, H3529 their appearances H4758 and themselves: they went H3212 (QalImpf) every one H376 straight H5676 forward. H6440

As to the likeness of their faces, they are the faces that I saw by the river Chebar, their appearances and themselves; each straight forward they go.

“ ‘Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “Your slain whom you have laid in the middle of it, they are the meat, and this is the cauldron; but you will be brought out of the middle of it.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Your slain H2491 whom ye have laid H7760 (QalPerf) in the midst H8432 of it, they [are] the flesh, H1320 and this [city is] the caldron: H5518 but I will bring you forth H3318 (HiphPerf) out of the midst H8432 of it.

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Your wounded whom ye placed in its midst, They are the flesh, and it is the pot, And you he hath brought out from its midst.

“Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, the men of your relatives, and all the house of Israel, all of them, are the ones to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Go far away from Yahweh. This land has been given to us for a possession.’

‘Son of man, thy brethren, thy brethren, men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel-all of it, are they to whom inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Keep far off from Jehovah;

“Therefore say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet I will be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they have come.” ’

Therefore say, H559 (QalImpv) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Although I have cast them far off H7368 (HiphPerf) among the heathen, H1471 and although I have scattered H6327 (HiphPerf) them among the countries, H776 yet will I be to them as a little H4592 sanctuary H4720 in the countries H776 where they shall come. it is ours, the land hath been given for an inheritance; therefore say: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because I put them afar off among nations, And because I scattered them through lands, I also am to them for a little sanctuary, In lands whither they have gone in.

“Therefore say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “I will gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”

Therefore say, H559 (QalImpv) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 I will even gather H6908 (PielPerf) you from the people, H5971 and assemble H622 (QalPerf) you out of the countries H776 where ye have been scattered, H6327 (NiphPerf) and I will give H5414 (QalPerf) you the land H127 of Israel. Therefore say: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: And I have assembled you from the peoples, And I have gathered you from the lands, Into which ye have been scattered, And I have given to you the ground of Israel.

Yahweh’s glory went up from the middle of the city, and stood on the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

And the glory H3519 of the Lord H3068 went up H5927 (QalImpf) from the midst H8432 of the city, H5892 and stood H5975 (QalImpf) upon the mountain H2022 which [is] on the east side H6924 of the city. H5892

And the honour of Jehovah goeth up from off the midst of the city, and standeth on the mountain, that is on the east of the city.

“Son of man, you dwell in the middle of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see, and don’t see, who have ears to hear, and don’t hear; for they are a rebellious house.

‘Son of man, in the midst of the rebellious house thou art dwelling, that have eyes to see, and they have not seen; ears they have to hear, and they have not heard; for a rebellious house are they.

“Say to them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel among whom they are.” ’

Say H559 (QalImpv) thou unto them, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 This burden H4853 [concerneth] the prince H5387 in Jerusalem, H3389 and all the house H1004 of Israel H3478 that [are] among H8432 them.

say unto them, Thus said the Lord Jehovah: ‘The prince is this burden in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel who are in their midst.

“ ‘The prince who is among them will bear his baggage on his shoulder in the dark, and will go out. They will dig through the wall to carry things out that way. He will cover his face, because he will not see the land with his eyes.

As to the prince who is in their midst, on the shoulder he beareth in the darkness, and he goeth forth, through the wall they dig to bring forth by it, his face he covereth, that he may not look on the very surface of the land.

I will scatter toward every wind all who are around him to help him, and all his bands. I will draw out the sword after them.

‘And all who are round about him to help him, and all his bands, I do scatter to every wind, and a sword I draw out after them.

But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they come. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”

and I have left of them, a few in number, from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, so that they recount all their abominations among the nations whither they have come, and they have known that I am Jehovah.’

For I am Yahweh. I will speak, and the word that I speak will be performed. It will be no more deferred; for in your days, rebellious house, I will speak the word and will perform it,” says the Lord Yahweh.’ ”

For I am Jehovah, I speak, The word that I speak-it is done, It is not prolonged any more, For, in your days, O rebellious house, I speak a word, and I have done it, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.’

“Therefore tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “None of my words will be deferred any more, but the word which I speak will be performed,” says the Lord Yahweh.’ ”

Therefore say H559 (QalImpv) unto them, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 There shall none of my words H1697 be prolonged H4900 (NiphImpf) any more, but the word H1697 which I have spoken H1696 (PielImpf) shall be done, H6213 (NiphImpf) saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord H136 God. therefore say unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: None of my words are prolonged any more, When I speak a word-it is done, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!’

The Lord Yahweh says, “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Woe H1945 unto the foolish H5036 prophets, H5030 that follow H1980 (QalActPtc) H310 their own spirit, H7307 and have seen H7200 (QalPerf) nothing!

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the prophets who are foolish, Who are going after their own spirit, And they have seen nothing.

Behold, when the wall has fallen, won’t it be said to you, “Where is the plaster with which you have plastered it?”

Lo, when the wall H7023 is fallen, H5307 (QalPerf) shall it not be said H559 (NiphImpf) unto you, Where [is] the daubing H2915 wherewith ye have daubed H2902 (QalPerf) [it]?

And lo, fallen hath the wall! Doth not one say unto you, Where is the daubing that ye daubed?

So I will break down the wall that you have plastered with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered. It will fall, and you will be consumed in the middle of it. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

So will I break down H2040 (QalPerf) the wall H7023 that ye have daubed H2902 (QalPerf) with untempered H8602 [morter], and bring H5060 (HiphPerf) it down to the ground, H776 so that the foundation H3247 thereof shall be discovered, H1540 (NiphPerf) and it shall fall, H5307 (QalPerf) and ye shall be consumed H3615 (QalPerf) in the midst H8432 thereof: and ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord. And I have broken down the wall that ye daubed with chalk, And have caused it to come unto the earth, And revealed hath been its foundation, And it hath fallen, And ye have been consumed in its midst, And ye have known that I am Jehovah.

You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies.’

And will ye pollute H2490 (PielImpf) me among my people H5971 for handfuls H8168 of barley H8184 and for pieces H6595 of bread, H3899 to slay H4191 (HiphInf) the souls H5315 that should not die, H4191 (QalImpf) and to save H2421 the souls H5315 alive H2421 (PielInf) that should not live, H2421 (QalImpf) by your lying H3576 (PielInf) to my people H5971 that hear H8085 (QalActPtc) [your] lies? Yea, ye pierce Me concerning My people, For handfuls of barley, And for pieces of bread, to put to death Souls that should not die, And to keep alive souls that should not live, By your lying to My people-hearkening to lies.

“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I am against your magic bands, with which you hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms. I will let the souls fly free, even the souls whom you ensnare like birds.

Wherefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Behold, I [am] against your pillows, H3704 wherewith ye H859 there hunt H6679 (PoelPtc) the souls H5315 to make [them] fly, H6524 (QalActPtc) and I will tear H7167 (QalPerf) them from your arms, H2220 and will let the souls H5315 go, H7971 (PielPerf) [even] the souls H5315 that ye hunt H6679 (PoelPtc) to make [them] fly. Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am against your pillows, With which ye are hunting there the souls of the flourishing, And I have rent them from off your arms, And have sent away the souls that ye are hunting, The souls of the flourishing.

Therefore speak to them and tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face then comes to the prophet, I Yahweh will answer him there according to the multitude of his idols,

‘Therefore, speak with them, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Every one of the house of Israel who causeth his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath gone in unto the prophet-I Jehovah have given an answer to him for this, for the abundance of his idols,

that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.” ’

“ ‘ “For everyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live in Israel, who separates himself from me and takes his idols into his heart, and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet to inquire for himself of me, I Yahweh will answer him by myself.

for every one of the house of Israel, and of the sojourners who doth sojourn in Israel, who is separated from after Me, and doth cause his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath come in unto the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I, Jehovah, have answered him for Myself;

Yet, behold, there will be left a remnant in it that will be carried out, both sons and daughters. Behold, they will come out to you, and you will see their way and their doings. Then you will be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought on it.

And they have comforted you, for ye see their way and their doings, and ye have known that not for nought have I done all that which I have done in her-an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.’

“Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest?

‘Son of man, What is the vine-tree more than any tree? The vine-branch that hath been, Among trees of the forest?

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “As the vine wood among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because of thy brass being poured forth, And thy nakedness is revealed in thy whoredoms near thy lovers, And near all the idols of thy abominations, And according to the blood of thy sons, Whom thou hast given to them;

therefore see, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those whom you have loved, with all those whom you have hated. I will even gather them against you on every side, and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness.

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, And dost give trouble to Me in all these, Lo, even I also thy way at first gave up, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And I did not this thought for all thine abominations.

You are the daughter of your mother, who loathes her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

Thy mother’s daughter thou art, Loathing her husband and her sons, And thy sisters’ sister thou art, Who loathed their husbands and their sons, Your mother is a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

Samaria hasn’t committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all your abominations which you have done.

As to Samaria, as the half of thy sins-she hath not sinned, And thou dost multiply thine abominations more than they, And dost justify thy sisters by all thy abominations that thou hast done.

You also bear your own shame yourself, in that you have given judgment for your sisters; through your sins that you have committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous than you. Yes, be also confounded, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters.

For thus said the Lord Jehovah: I have dealt with thee as thou hast done, In that thou hast despised an oath-to break covenant.
