Pharaoh’s daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her servant to get it.

It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land.”

Yahweh says, “In this you shall know that I am Yahweh. Behold: I will strike with the rod that is in my hand on the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood. There will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”

Moses and Aaron did so, as Yahweh commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

The fish that were in the river died. The river became foul. The Egyptians couldn’t drink water from the river. The blood was throughout all the land of Egypt.

ωρυξαν δε παντες οι αιγυπτιοι κυκλω του ποταμου ωστε πιειν υδωρ και ουκ ηδυναντο πιειν υδωρ απο του ποταμου

The river will swarm with frogs, which will go up and come into your house, and into your bedroom, and on your bed, and into the house of your servants, and on your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading troughs.

Moses said to Pharaoh, “I give you the honor of setting the time that I should pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, that the frogs be destroyed from you and your houses, and remain in the river only.”

The frogs shall depart from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only.”

Yahweh said to Moses, “Walk on before the people, and take the elders of Israel with you, and take the rod in your hand with which you struck the Nile, and go.

και ειπεν κυριος προς μωυσην προπορευου του λαου τουτου λαβε δε μετα σεαυτου απο των πρεσβυτερων του λαου και την ραβδον εν η επαταξας τον ποταμον λαβε εν τη χειρι σου και πορευση

I have dug and drunk strange waters, and I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt with the sole of my feet.”

εγω εψυξα και επιον υδατα αλλοτρια και εξηρημωσα τω ιχνει του ποδος μου παντας ποταμους περιοχης

He cuts out channels among the rocks. His eye sees every precious thing.

He cutteth out H1234 (PielPerf) rivers H2975 among the rocks; H6697 And his eye H5869 seeth H7200 (QalPerf) every precious thing. H3366

δινας δε ποταμων ερρηξεν παν δε εντιμον ειδεν μου ο οφθαλμος

he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.

It will happen in that day that Yahweh will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

And it shall come to pass in that day, H3117 that the Lord H3068 shall hiss H8319 (QalImpf) for the fly H2070 that is in the uttermost part H7097 of the rivers H2975 of Egypt, H4714 and for the bee H1682 that is in the land H776 of Assyria. H804

The rivers will become foul. The streams of Egypt will be diminished and dried up. The reeds and flags will wither away.

και εκλειψουσιν οι ποταμοι και αι διωρυγες του ποταμου και ξηρανθησεται πασα συναγωγη υδατος και εν παντι ελει καλαμου και παπυρου

The meadows by the Nile, by the brink of the Nile, and all the sown fields of the Nile, will become dry, be driven away, and be no more.

The paper reeds H6169 by the brooks, H2975 by the mouth H6310 of the brooks, H2975 and every thing sown H4218 by the brooks, H2975 shall wither, H3001 (QalImpf) be driven away, H5086 (NiphPerf) and be no more.^§

Isaiah 19:7 Heb. and shall not be

και το αχι το χλωρον παν το κυκλω του ποταμου και παν το σπειρομενον δια του ποταμου ξηρανθησεται ανεμοφθορον

The fishermen will lament, and all those who fish in the Nile will mourn, and those who spread nets on the waters will languish.

On great waters, the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue. She was the market of nations.

εν υδατι πολλω σπερμα μεταβολων ως αμητου εισφερομενου οι μεταβολοι των εθνων

Pass through your land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish. There is no restraint any more.

εργαζου την γην σου και γαρ πλοια ουκετι ερχεται εκ καρχηδονος

But there Yahweh will be with us in majesty, a place of wide rivers and streams, in which no galley with oars will go, neither will any gallant ship pass by there.

I’ll cast you out into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers. You’ll fall on the open field. You won’t be brought together or gathered. I have given you for food to the animals of the earth and to the birds of the sky.

therefore, behold, I am against you and against your rivers. I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from the tower of Seveneh even to the border of Ethiopia.
