When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel. There was no one who followed David’s house, except for the tribe of Judah only.

He cried against the altar by Yahweh’s word, and said, “Altar! Altar! Yahweh says: ‘Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’ ”

και επεκαλεσεν προς το θυσιαστηριον εν λογω κυριου και ειπεν θυσιαστηριον θυσιαστηριον ταδε λεγει κυριος ιδου υιος τικτεται τω οικω δαυιδ ιωσιας ονομα αυτω και θυσει επι σε τους ιερεις των υψηλων τους επιθυοντας επι σε και οστα ανθρωπων καυσει επι σε

When the king heard the saying of the man of God, which he cried against the altar in Bethel, Jeroboam put out his hand from the altar, saying, “Seize him!” His hand, which he put out against him, dried up, so that he could not draw it back again to himself.

And it came to pass, when king H4428 Jeroboam H3379 heard H8085 (QalInf) the saying H1697 of the man H376 of God, H430 which had cried H7121 (QalPerf) against the altar H4196 in Bethel, H1008 that he put forth H7971 (QalImpf) his hand H3027 from the altar, H4196 saying, H559 (QalInf) Lay hold H8610 (QalImpv) on him. και εγενετο ως ηκουσεν ο βασιλευς ιεροβοαμ των λογων του ανθρωπου του θεου του επικαλεσαμενου επι το θυσιαστηριον το εν βαιθηλ και εξετεινεν ο βασιλευς την χειρα αυτου απο του θυσιαστηριου λεγων συλλαβετε αυτον και ιδου εξηρανθη η χειρ αυτου ην εξετεινεν επ αυτον και ουκ ηδυνηθη επιστρεψαι αυτην προς εαυτον

He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, “Alas, my brother!”

εν τω ταφω εαυτου και εκοψαντο αυτον ουαι αδελφε

For the saying which he cried by Yahweh’s word against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”

οτι γινομενον εσται το ρημα ο ελαλησεν εν λογω κυριου επι του θυσιαστηριου του εν βαιθηλ και επι τους οικους τους υψηλους τους εν σαμαρεια

This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.

And this thing H1697 became sin H2403 unto the house H1004 of Jeroboam, H3379 even to cut [it] off, H3582 (HiphInf) and to destroy H8045 (HiphInf) [it] from off the face H6440 of the earth. H127

Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.

Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,

Moreover Yahweh will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.

Moreover the Lord H3068 shall raise him up H6965 (HiphPerf) a king H4428 over Israel, H3478 who shall cut off H3772 (HiphImpf) the house H1004 of Jeroboam H3379 that day: H3117 but what? even now.

In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;

Now in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah.

for the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and with which he made Israel to sin, because of his provocation with which he provoked Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger.

In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah began to reign over all Israel in Tirzah for twenty-four years.

Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

και εγενετο λογος κυριου εν χειρι ιου υιου ανανι προς βαασα

“Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

Forasmuch as I exalted H7311 (HiphPerf) thee out of the dust, H6083 and made H5414 (QalImpf) thee prince H5057 over my people H5971 Israel; H3478 and thou hast walked H3212 (QalImpf) in the way H1870 of Jeroboam, H3379 and hast made my people H5971 Israel H3478 to sin, H2398 (HiphImpf) to provoke me to anger H3707 (HiphInf) with their sins; H2403

ανθ ων υψωσα σε απο της γης και εδωκα σε ηγουμενον επι τον λαον μου ισραηλ και επορευθης εν τη οδω ιεροβοαμ και εξημαρτες τον λαον μου τον ισραηλ του παροργισαι με εν τοις ματαιοις αυτων

Moreover Yahweh’s word came by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he struck him.

And also by the hand H3027 of the prophet H5030 Jehu H3058 the son H1121 of Hanani H2607 came the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 against Baasha, H1201 and against his house, H1004 even for all the evil H7451 that he did H6213 (QalPerf) in the sight H5869 of the Lord, H3068 in provoking him to anger H3707 (HiphInf) with the work H4639 of his hands, H3027 in being like the house H1004 of Jeroboam; H3379 and because he killed H5221 (HiphPerf) him.

In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha began to reign over Israel in Tirzah for two years.

In the twenty H6242 H8141 and sixth H8337 year H8141 of Asa H609 king H4428 of Judah H3063 began Elah H425 the son H1121 of Baasha H1201 to reign H4427 (QalPerf) over Israel H3478 in Tirzah, H8656 two years. H8141

και ηλα υιος βαασα εβασιλευσεν επι ισραηλ δυο ετη εν θερσα

His servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah;

And his servant H5650 Zimri, H2174 captain H8269 of half H4276 [his] chariots, H7393 conspired H7194 (QalImpf) against him, as he was in Tirzah, H8656 drinking H8354 (QalActPtc) himself drunk H7910 in the house H1004 of Arza H777 steward of [his] house H1004 in Tirzah. H8656

In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

και ζαμβρι εβασιλευσεν επτα ημερας εν θερσα και η παρεμβολη ισραηλ επι γαβαθων την των αλλοφυλων

The people who were encamped heard that Zimri had conspired, and had also killed the king. Therefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the army, king over Israel that day in the camp.

And the people H5971 [that were] encamped H2583 (QalActPtc) heard H8085 (QalImpf) say, H559 (QalInf) Zimri H2174 hath conspired, H7194 (QalPerf) and hath also slain H5221 (HiphPerf) the king: H4428 wherefore all Israel H3478 made Omri, H6018 the captain H8269 of the host, H6635 king H4427 (HiphImpf) over Israel H3478 that day H3117 in the camp. και ηκουσεν ο λαος εν τη παρεμβολη λεγοντων συνεστραφη ζαμβρι και επαισεν τον βασιλεα και εβασιλευσαν εν ισραηλ τον αμβρι τον ηγουμενον της στρατιας επι ισραηλ εν τη ημερα εκεινη εν τη παρεμβολη

Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.

And Omri H6018 went up H5927 (QalImpf) from Gibbethon, H1405 and all Israel H3478 with him, and they besieged H6696 (QalImpf) Tirzah. H8656

και ανεβη αμβρι και πας ισραηλ μετ αυτου εκ γαβαθων και περιεκαθισαν επι θερσα

When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the fortified part of the king’s house and burned the king’s house over him with fire, and died,

και εγενηθη ως ειδεν ζαμβρι οτι προκατειλημπται αυτου η πολις και εισπορευεται εις αντρον του οικου του βασιλεως και ενεπυρισεν επ αυτον τον οικον του βασιλεως εν πυρι και απεθανεν

for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did to make Israel to sin.

υπερ των αμαρτιων αυτου ων εποιησεν του ποιησαι το πονηρον ενωπιον κυριου πορευθηναι εν οδω ιεροβοαμ υιου ναβατ και εν ταις αμαρτιαις αυτου ως εξημαρτεν τον ισραηλ

In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel for twelve years. He reigned six years in Tirzah.

In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri began to reign over Israel. Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years.

“Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan.

Ahab called Obadiah, who was over the household. (Now Obadiah feared Yahweh greatly;

It will happen, as soon as I leave you, that Yahweh’s Spirit will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.

Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you waver between the two sides? If Yahweh is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” The people didn’t say a word.

και προσηγαγεν ηλιου προς παντας και ειπεν αυτοις ηλιου εως ποτε υμεις χωλανειτε επ αμφοτεραις ταις ιγνυαις ει εστιν κυριος ο θεος πορευεσθε οπισω αυτου ει δε ο βααλ αυτος πορευεσθε οπισω αυτου και ουκ απεκριθη ο λαος λογον

^[21:22] και προσηλθεν ο προφητης προς βασιλεα ισραηλ και ειπεν κραταιου και γνωθι και ιδε τι ποιησεις οτι επιστρεφοντος του ενιαυτου υιος αδερ βασιλευς συριας αναβαινει επι σε

The servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we. But let’s fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”
