Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, with his livestock, all his animals, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Canaan, and went into a land away from his brother Jacob.

This is the history of the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir:

αυται δε αι γενεσεις ησαυ πατρος εδωμ εν τω ορει σηιρ

these are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, the son of Adah, the wife of Esau; and Reuel, the son of Basemath, the wife of Esau.

Timna was concubine to Eliphaz, Esau’s son; and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek. These are the descendants of Adah, Esau’s wife.

These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the descendants of Basemath, Esau’s wife.

chief Magdiel, and chief Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession. This is Esau, the father of the Edomites.

ηγεμων μεγεδιηλ ηγεμων ζαφωιμ ουτοι ηγεμονες εδωμ εν ταις κατωκοδομημεναις εν τη γη της κτησεως αυτων ουτος ησαυ πατηρ εδωμ

Command the people, saying, ‘You are to pass through the border of your brothers, the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. Therefore be careful.

και τω λαω εντειλαι λεγων υμεις παραπορευεσθε δια των οριων των αδελφων υμων υιων ησαυ οι κατοικουσιν εν σηιρ και φοβηθησονται υμας και ευλαβηθησονται υμας σφοδρα

Don’t contend with them; for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau for a possession.

Meddle H1624 (HithImpf) not with them; for I will not give H5414 (QalImpf) you of their land, H776 no, not so much as a foot H7272 breadth; H4096 H3709 because I have given H5414 (QalPerf) mount H2022 Seir H8165 unto Esau H6215 [for] a possession. H3425

μη συναψητε προς αυτους πολεμον ου γαρ μη δω υμιν απο της γης αυτων ουδε βημα ποδος οτι εν κληρω δεδωκα τοις υιοις ησαυ το ορος το σηιρ

So we passed by from our brothers, the children of Esau, who dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah from Elath and from Ezion Geber. We turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.

And when we passed H5674 (QalImpf) by from our brethren H251 the children H1121 of Esau, H6215 which dwelt H3427 (QalActPtc) in Seir, H8165 through the way H1870 of the plain H6160 from Elath, H359 and from Eziongaber, H6100 we turned H6437 (QalImpf) and passed H5674 (QalImpf) by the way H1870 of the wilderness H4057 of Moab. και παρηλθομεν τους αδελφους ημων υιους ησαυ τους κατοικουντας εν σηιρ παρα την οδον την αραβα απο αιλων και απο γασιωνγαβερ και επιστρεψαντες παρηλθομεν οδον ερημον μωαβ

The Horites also lived in Seir in the past, but the children of Esau succeeded them. They destroyed them from before them, and lived in their place, as Israel did to the land of his possession, which Yahweh gave to them.)

και εν σηιρ ενεκαθητο ο χορραιος προτερον και υιοι ησαυ απωλεσαν αυτους και εξετριψαν αυτους απο προσωπου αυτων και κατωκισθησαν αντ αυτων ον τροπον εποιησεν ισραηλ την γην της κληρονομιας αυτου ην δεδωκεν κυριος αυτοις

as he did for the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and lived in their place even to this day.

ωσπερ εποιησαν τοις υιοις ησαυ τοις κατοικουσιν εν σηιρ ον τροπον εξετριψαν τον χορραιον απο προσωπου αυτων και κατεκληρονομησαν και κατωκισθησαν αντ αυτων εως της ημερας ταυτης

as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me, until I pass over the Jordan into the land which Yahweh our God gives us.”

I gave to Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave to Esau Mount Seir, to possess it. Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

Flee! Turn back! Dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him when I visit him.

^[30:2] ηπατηθη ο τοπος αυτων βαθυνατε εις καθισιν οι κατοικουντες εν δαιδαν οτι δυσκολα εποιησεν ηγαγον επ αυτον εν χρονω ω επεσκεψαμην επ αυτον

But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he will not be able to hide himself. His offspring is destroyed, with his brothers and his neighbors; and he is no more.

^[30:4] οτι εγω κατεσυρα τον ησαυ ανεκαλυψα τα κρυπτα αυτων κρυβηναι ου μη δυνωνται ωλοντο δια χειρα αδελφου αυτου και γειτονος αυτου και ουκ εστιν

How Esau will be ransacked! How his hidden treasures are sought out!

How are [the things] of Esau H6215 searched out! H2664 (NiphPerf) [how] are his hidden H4710 things sought up! H1158 (NiphPerf)

πως εξηρευνηθη ησαυ και κατελημφθη αυτου τα κεκρυμμενα

“Won’t I in that day”, says Yahweh, “destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau?

Shall I not in that day, H3117 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 even destroy H6 (HiphPerf) the wise H2450 [men] out of Edom, H123 and understanding H8394 out of the mount H2022 of Esau? H6215

εν εκεινη τη ημερα λεγει κυριος απολω σοφους εκ της ιδουμαιας και συνεσιν εξ ορους ησαυ

Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter.

και πτοηθησονται οι μαχηται σου οι εκ θαιμαν οπως εξαρθη ανθρωπος εξ ορους ησαυ

The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau.” Indeed, Yahweh has spoken.

Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.

Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be Yahweh’s.

And saviours H3467 (HiphPtc) shall come up H5927 (QalPerf) on mount H2022 Zion H6726 to judge H8199 (QalInf) the mount H2022 of Esau; H6215 and the kingdom H4410 shall be the Lord’s. H3068

και αναβησονται ανδρες σεσωσμενοι εξ ορους σιων του εκδικησαι το ορος ησαυ και εσται τω κυριω η βασιλεια

but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness.”
