Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.

When Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah, after the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

“Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.

^[43:28] παλιν λαβε συ χαρτιον ετερον και γραψον παντας τους λογους τους οντας επι του χαρτιου ους κατεκαυσεν ο βασιλευς ιωακιμ

Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah; H3063 He shall have none to sit H3427 (QalActPtc) upon the throne H3678 of David: H1732 and his dead body H5038 shall be cast out H7993 (HophPtc) in the day H3117 to the heat, H2721 and in the night H3915 to the frost. ^[43:30] δια τουτο ουτως ειπεν κυριος επι ιωακιμ βασιλεα ιουδα ουκ εσται αυτω καθημενος επι θρονου δαυιδ και το θνησιμαιον αυτου εσται ερριμμενον εν τω καυματι της ημερας και εν τω παγετω της νυκτος

Then Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

When the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,

Jeremiah 37:11 Heb. made to ascend

^[44:11] και εγενετο οτε ανεβη η δυναμις των χαλδαιων απο ιερουσαλημ απο προσωπου της δυναμεως φαραω

When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

^[44:13] και εγενετο αυτος εν πυλη βενιαμιν και εκει ανθρωπος παρ ω κατελυεν σαρουιας υιος σελεμιου υιου ανανιου και συνελαβεν τον ιερεμιαν λεγων προς τους χαλδαιους συ φευγεις

“Yahweh says, ‘He who remains in this city will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, but he who goes out to the Chaldeans will live. He will escape with his life and he will live.’

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 He that remaineth H3427 (QalActPtc) in this city H5892 shall die H4191 (QalImpf) by the sword, H2719 by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence: H1698 but he that goeth forth H3318 (QalActPtc) to the Chaldeans H3778 shall live; H2421 (QalPerf) for he shall have his life H5315 for a prey, H7998 and shall live. ^[45:2] ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο κατοικων εν τη πολει ταυτη αποθανειται εν ρομφαια και εν λιμω και ο εκπορευομενος προς τους χαλδαιους ζησεται και εσται η ψυχη αυτου εις ευρεμα και ζησεται

So Jeremiah stayed in the court of the guard until the day that Jerusalem was taken.

So Jeremiah H3414 abode H3427 (QalImpf) in the court H2691 of the prison H4307 until the day H3117 that Jerusalem H3389 was taken: H3920 (NiphPerf) and he was there when Jerusalem H3389 was taken. H3920 (NiphPerf)

When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled and went out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.

Now Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

Now the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came unto Jeremiah, H3414 while he was shut up H6113 (QalPasPtc) in the court H2691 of the prison, H4307 saying, H559 (QalInf)

^[46:15] και προς ιερεμιαν εγενετο λογος κυριου εν τη αυλη της φυλακης λεγων

“Go, and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I will bring my words on this city for evil, and not for good; and they will be accomplished before you in that day.

Go H1980 (QalInf) and speak H559 (QalPerf) to Ebed-melech H5663 the Ethiopian, H3569 saying, H559 (QalInf) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Behold, I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) my words H1697 upon this city H5892 for evil, H7451 and not for good; H2896 and they shall be accomplished in that day H3117 before H6440 thee.

^[46:16] πορευου και ειπον προς αβδεμελεχ τον αιθιοπα ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ ιδου εγω φερω τους λογους μου επι την πολιν ταυτην εις κακα και ουκ εις αγαθα

For I will surely save you. You won’t fall by the sword, but you will escape with your life, because you have put your trust in me,” says Yahweh.’”

For I will surely H4422 (PielInf) deliver H4422 (PielImpf) thee, and thou shalt not fall H5307 (QalImpf) by the sword, H2719 but thy life H5315 shall be for a prey H7998 unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust H982 (QalPerf) in me, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord. H3068

^[46:18] οτι σωζων σωσω σε και εν ρομφαια ου μη πεσης και εσται η ψυχη σου εις ευρεμα οτι επεποιθεις επ εμοι φησιν κυριος

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah who were carried away captive to Babylon.

The word H1697 that came to Jeremiah H3414 from the Lord, H3068 after H310 that Nebuzar-adan H5018 the captain H7227 of the guard H2876 had let him go H7971 (PielInf) from Ramah, H7414 when he had taken H3947 (QalInf) him being bound H631 (QalPasPtc) in chains^§ H246 among H8432 all that were carried away captive H1546 of Jerusalem H3389 and Judah, H3063 which were carried away captive H1540 (HophPtc) unto Babylon. ^[47:1] ο λογος ο γενομενος παρα κυριου προς ιερεμιαν υστερον μετα το αποστειλαι αυτον ναβουζαρδαν τον αρχιμαγειρον τον εκ δαμαν εν τω λαβειν αυτον εν χειροπεδαις εν μεσω αποικιας ιουδα των ηγμενων εις βαβυλωνα

and Yahweh has brought it, and done according as he spoke. Because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing has come on you.

Now the Lord H3068 hath brought H935 (HiphImpf) it, and done H6213 (QalImpf) according as he hath said: H1696 (PielPerf) because ye have sinned H2398 (QalPerf) against the Lord, H3068 and have not obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) his voice, H6963 therefore this thing H1697 is come upon you.

^[47:3] και εποιησεν κυριος οτι ημαρτετε αυτω και ουκ ηκουσατε αυτου της φωνης

Now in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal offspring and one of the chief officers of the king, and ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they ate bread together in Mizpah.

Now it came to pass in the seventh H7637 month, H2320 that Ishmael H3458 the son H1121 of Nethaniah H5418 the son H1121 of Elishama, H476 of the seed H2233 royal, H4410 and the princes H7227 of the king, H4428 even ten H6235 men H582 with him, came H935 (QalPerf) unto Gedaliah H1436 the son H1121 of Ahikam H296 to Mizpah; H4709 and there they did eat H398 (QalImpf) bread H3899 together H3162 in Mizpah. ^[48:1] και εγενετο τω μηνι τω εβδομω ηλθεν ισμαηλ υιος ναθανιου υιου ελασα απο γενους του βασιλεως και δεκα ανδρες μετ αυτου προς γοδολιαν εις μασσηφα και εφαγον εκει αρτον αμα

Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah arose, and the ten men who were with him, and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword and killed him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

Ishmael also killed all the Jews who were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Chaldean men of war who were found there.

Ishmael H3458 also slew H5221 (HiphPerf) all the Jews H3064 that were with him, even with Gedaliah, H1436 at Mizpah, H4709 and the Chaldeans H3778 that were found H4672 (NiphPerf) there, and the men H582 of war. H4421

^[48:3] και παντας τους ιουδαιους τους οντας μετ αυτου εν μασσηφα και παντας τους χαλδαιους τους ευρεθεντας εκει

The second day after he had killed Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

And it came to pass the second H8145 day H3117 after he had slain H4191 (HiphInf) Gedaliah, H1436 and no man H376 knew H3045 (QalPerf) it,

^[48:4] και εγενετο τη ημερα τη δευτερα παταξαντος αυτου τον γοδολιαν και ανθρωπος ουκ εγνω

Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went, and as he met them, he said to them, “Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.”

Jeremiah 41:6 Heb. in going and weeping

^[48:6] και εξηλθεν εις απαντησιν αυτοις ισμαηλ αυτοι επορευοντο και εκλαιον και ειπεν αυτοις εισελθετε προς γοδολιαν

It was so, when they came into the middle of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah killed them, and cast them into the middle of the pit, he, and the men who were with him.

And it was so, when they came H935 (QalInf) into the midst H8432 of the city, H5892 that Ishmael H3458 the son H1121 of Nethaniah H5418 slew H7819 (QalImpf) them, and cast them into the midst H8432 of the pit, H953 he, and the men H582 that were with him.

^[48:7] και εγενετο εισελθοντων αυτων εις το μεσον της πολεως εσφαξεν αυτους εις το φρεαρ

Now when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, then they were glad.

Now it came to pass, that when all the people H5971 which were with Ishmael H3458 saw H7200 (QalInf) Johanan H3110 the son H1121 of Kareah, H7143 and all the captains H8269 of the forces H2428 that were with him, then they were glad. H8055 (QalImpf)

^[48:13] και εγενετο οτε ειδον πας ο λαος ο μετα ισμαηλ τον ιωαναν και τους ηγεμονας της δυναμεως της μετ αυτου

Then they said to Jeremiah, “May Yahweh be a true and faithful witness among us, if we don’t do according to all the word with which Yahweh your God sends you to tell us.

Then they said H559 (QalPerf) to Jeremiah, H3414 The Lord H3068 be a true H571 and faithful H539 (NiphPtc) witness H5707 between us, if we do H6213 (QalImpf) not even according to all things H1697 for the which the Lord H3068 thy God H430 shall send H7971 (QalImpf) thee to us.

^[49:5] και αυτοι ειπαν τω ιερεμια εστω κυριος εν ημιν εις μαρτυρα δικαιον και πιστον ει μη κατα παντα τον λογον ον αν αποστειλη σε κυριος προς ημας ουτως ποιησομεν

After ten days, Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah.

And it came to pass after H7093 ten H6235 days, H3117 that the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came unto Jeremiah. H3414

^[49:7] και εγενηθη μετα δεκα ημερας εγενηθη λογος κυριου προς ιερεμιαν

So will it be with all the men who set their faces to go into Egypt to live there. They will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. None of them will remain or escape from the evil that I will bring on them.’

So shall it be with all the men^§ H582 that set H7760 (QalPerf) their faces H6440 to go H935 (QalInf) into Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (QalInf) there; they shall die H4191 (QalImpf) by the sword, H2719 by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence: H1698 and none of them shall remain H8300 or escape H6412 from H6440 the evil H7451 that I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) upon them.

Jeremiah 42:17 Heb. so shall all the men be

^[49:17] και εσονται παντες οι ανθρωποι και παντες οι αλλογενεις οι θεντες το προσωπον αυτων εις γην αιγυπτου ενοικειν εκει εκλειψουσιν εν τη ρομφαια και εν τω λιμω και ουκ εσται αυτων ουθεις σωζομενος απο των κακων ων εγω επαγω επ αυτους

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you, when you enter into Egypt; and you will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you will see this place no more.’

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 As mine anger H639 and my fury H2534 hath been poured forth H5413 (NiphPerf) upon the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem; H3389 so shall my fury H2534 be poured forth H5413 (QalImpf) upon you, when ye shall enter H935 (QalInf) into Egypt: H4714 and ye shall be an execration, H423 and an astonishment, H8047 and a curse, H7045 and a reproach; H2781 and ye shall see H7200 (QalImpf) this place H4725 no more.

^[49:18] οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος καθως εσταξεν ο θυμος μου επι τους κατοικουντας ιερουσαλημ ουτως σταξει ο θυμος μου εφ υμας εισελθοντων υμων εις αιγυπτον και εσεσθε εις αβατον και υποχειριοι και εις αραν και εις ονειδισμον και ου μη ιδητε ουκετι τον τοπον τουτον

When Jeremiah had finished speaking to all the people all the words of Yahweh their God, with which Yahweh their God had sent him to them, even all these words,

And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah H3414 had made an end H3615 (PielInf) of speaking H1696 (PielInf) unto all the people H5971 all the words H1697 of the Lord H3068 their God, H430 for which the Lord H3068 their God H430 had sent H7971 (QalPerf) him to them, even all these words, H1697

^[50:1] και εγενηθη ως επαυσατο ιερεμιας λεγων προς τον λαον παντας τους λογους κυριου ους απεστειλεν αυτον κυριος προς αυτους παντας τους λογους τουτους

Then Yahweh’s word came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,

Then came the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 unto Jeremiah H3414 in Tahpanhes, H8471 saying, H559 (QalInf)

^[50:8] και εγενετο λογος κυριου προς ιερεμιαν εν ταφνας λεγων

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

The word H1697 that came to Jeremiah H3414 concerning all the Jews H3064 which dwell H3427 (QalActPtc) in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 which dwell H3427 (QalActPtc) at Migdol, H4024 and at Tahpanhes, H8471 and at Noph, H5297 and in the country H776 of Pathros, H6624 saying, H559 (QalInf)

^[51:1] ο λογος ο γενομενος προς ιερεμιαν απασιν τοις ιουδαιοις τοις κατοικουσιν εν γη αιγυπτω και τοις καθημενοις εν μαγδωλω και εν ταφνας και εν γη παθουρης λεγων

Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is today.’

Wherefore my fury H2534 and mine anger H639 was poured forth, H5413 (QalImpf) and was kindled H1197 (QalImpf) in the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem; H3389 and they are wasted H2723 and desolate, H8077 as at this day. H3117

^[51:6] και εσταξεν η οργη μου και ο θυμος μου και εξεκαυθη εν πολεσιν ιουδα και εξωθεν ιερουσαλημ και εγενηθησαν εις ερημωσιν και εις αβατον ως η ημερα αυτη

in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to live, that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

in that ye provoke me unto wrath H3707 (HiphInf) with the works H4639 of your hands, H3027 burning incense H6999 (PielInf) unto other H312 gods H430 in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 whither ye be gone H935 (QalActPtc) to dwell, H1481 (QalInf) that ye might cut yourselves off, H3772 (HiphInf) and that ye might be a curse H7045 and a reproach H2781 among all the nations H1471 of the earth? H776

^[51:8] παραπικραναι με εν τοις εργοις των χειρων υμων θυμιαν θεοις ετεροις εν γη αιγυπτω εις ην εισηλθατε ενοικειν εκει ινα εκκοπητε και ινα γενησθε εις καταραν και εις ονειδισμον εν πασιν τοις εθνεσιν της γης

I will take the remnant of Judah that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they will all be consumed. They will fall in the land of Egypt. They will be consumed by the sword and by the famine. They will die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine. They will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach.

And I will take H3947 (QalPerf) the remnant H7611 of Judah, H3063 that have set H7760 (QalPerf) their faces H6440 to go H935 (QalInf) into the land H776 of Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (QalInf) there, and they shall all be consumed, H8552 (QalPerf) and fall H5307 (QalImpf) in the land H776 of Egypt; H4714 they shall even be consumed H8552 (NiphImpf) by the sword H2719 and by the famine: H7458 they shall die, H4191 (QalImpf) from the least H6996 even unto the greatest, H1419 by the sword H2719 and by the famine: H7458 and they shall be an execration, H423 and an astonishment, H8047 and a curse, H7045 and a reproach. H2781

^[51:12] του απολεσαι παντας τους καταλοιπους τους εν αιγυπτω και πεσουνται εν ρομφαια και εν λιμω εκλειψουσιν απο μικρου εως μεγαλου και εσονται εις ονειδισμον και εις απωλειαν και εις καταραν

so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will escape or be left to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there; for no one will return except those who will escape.’”

Jeremiah 44:14 Heb. lift up their soul

^[51:14] και ουκ εσται σεσωσμενος ουθεις των επιλοιπων ιουδα των παροικουντων εν γη αιγυπτω του επιστρεψαι εις γην ιουδα εφ ην αυτοι ελπιζουσιν ταις ψυχαις αυτων του επιστρεψαι εκει ου μη επιστρεψωσιν αλλ η ανασεσωσμενοι
