He who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and he who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.

And it shall come to pass, [that] him that escapeth H4422 (NiphPtc) the sword H2719 of Hazael H2371 shall Jehu H3058 slay: H4191 (HiphImpf) and him that escapeth H4422 (NiphPtc) from the sword H2719 of Jehu H3058 shall Elisha H477 slay. H4191 (HiphImpf)

και εσται τον σωζομενον εκ ρομφαιας αζαηλ θανατωσει ιου και τον σωζομενον εκ ρομφαιας ιου θανατωσει ελισαιε

The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go meet the man of God, and inquire of Yahweh by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’ ”

και ειπεν ο βασιλευς προς αζαηλ λαβε εν τη χειρι σου μαναα και δευρο εις απαντην τω ανθρωπω του θεου και επιζητησον τον κυριον παρ αυτου λεγων ει ζησομαι εκ της αρρωστιας μου ταυτης

So Hazael went to meet him and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him and said, “Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’ ”

και επορευθη αζαηλ εις απαντην αυτου και ελαβεν μαναα εν τη χειρι αυτου και παντα τα αγαθα δαμασκου αρσιν τεσσαρακοντα καμηλων και ηλθεν και εστη ενωπιον αυτου και ειπεν προς ελισαιε ο υιος σου υιος αδερ βασιλευς συριας απεστειλεν με προς σε λεγων ει ζησομαι εκ της αρρωστιας μου ταυτης

Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”

And Hazael H2371 said, H559 (QalImpf) Why weepeth H1058 (QalActPtc) my lord? H113 And he answered, H559 (QalImpf) Because I know H3045 (QalPerf) the evil H7451 that thou wilt do H6213 (QalImpf) unto the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 their strong holds H4013 wilt thou set H7971 (PielImpf) on fire, H784 and their young men H970 wilt thou slay H2026 (QalImpf) with the sword, H2719 and wilt dash H7376 (PielImpf) their children, H5768 and rip up H1234 (PielImpf) their women with child. και ειπεν αζαηλ τι οτι ο κυριος μου κλαιει και ειπεν οτι οιδα οσα ποιησεις τοις υιοις ισραηλ κακα τα οχυρωματα αυτων εξαποστελεις εν πυρι και τους εκλεκτους αυτων εν ρομφαια αποκτενεις και τα νηπια αυτων ενσεισεις και τας εν γαστρι εχουσας αυτων αναρρηξεις

Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he could do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “Yahweh has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”

And Hazael H2371 said, H559 (QalImpf) But what, [is] thy servant H5650 a dog, H3611 that he should do H6213 (QalImpf) this great H1419 thing? H1697 And Elisha H477 answered, H559 (QalImpf) The Lord H3068 hath shewed H7200 (HiphPerf) me that thou [shalt be] king H4428 over Syria. H758

και ειπεν αζαηλ τις εστιν ο δουλος σου ο κυων ο τεθνηκως οτι ποιησει το ρημα τουτο και ειπεν ελισαιε εδειξεν μοι κυριος σε βασιλευοντα επι συριαν

On the next day, he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.

And it came to pass on the morrow, H4283 that he took H3947 (QalImpf) a thick cloth, H4346 and dipped H2881 (QalImpf) [it] in water, H4325 and spread H6566 (QalImpf) [it] on his face, H6440 so that he died: H4191 (QalImpf) and Hazael H2371 reigned H4427 (QalImpf) in his stead.

και εγενετο τη επαυριον και ελαβεν το μαχμα και εβαψεν εν τω υδατι και περιεβαλεν επι το προσωπον αυτου και απεθανεν και εβασιλευσεν αζαηλ αντ αυτου

He went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead, and the Syrians wounded Joram.

And he went H3212 (QalImpf) with Joram H3141 the son H1121 of Ahab H256 to the war H4421 against Hazael H2371 king H4428 of Syria H758 in Ramothgilead; H7433 H1568 and the Syrians H761 wounded H5221 (HiphImpf) Joram. H3141

και επορευθη μετα ιωραμ υιου αχααβ εις πολεμον μετα αζαηλ βασιλεως αλλοφυλων εν ρεμμωθ γαλααδ και επαταξαν οι συροι τον ιωραμ

King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel from the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

And king H4428 Joram H3141 went back H7725 (QalImpf) to be healed H7495 (HithInf) in Jezreel H3157 of the wounds H4347 which the Syrians H761 had given H5221 (HiphImpf) him at Ramah, H7414 when he fought H3898 (NiphInf) against Hazael H2371 king H4428 of Syria. So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram was defending Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria;

και συνεστραφη ιου υιος ιωσαφατ υιου ναμεσσι προς ιωραμ και ιωραμ αυτος εφυλασσεν εν ρεμμωθ γαλααδ αυτος και πας ισραηλ απο προσωπου αζαηλ βασιλεως συριας

but King Joram had returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) Jehu said, “If this is your thinking, then let no one escape and go out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.”

In those days Yahweh began to cut away parts of Israel; and Hazael struck them in all the borders of Israel

εν ταις ημεραις εκειναις ηρξατο κυριος συγκοπτειν εν τω ισραηλ και επαταξεν αυτους αζαηλ εν παντι οριω ισραηλ

Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

Jehoash king of Judah took all the holy things that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own holy things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and of the king’s house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria; and he went away from Jerusalem.

And Jehoash H3060 king H4428 of Judah H3063 took H3947 (QalImpf) all the hallowed things H6944 that Jehoshaphat, H3092 and Jehoram, H3088 and Ahaziah, H274 his fathers, H1 kings H4428 of Judah, H3063 had dedicated, H6942 (HiphPerf) and his own hallowed things, H6944 and all the gold H2091 [that was] found H4672 (NiphPtc) in the treasures H214 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and in the king’s H4428 house, H1004 and sent H7971 (QalImpf) [it] to Hazael H2371 king H4428 of Syria: H758 and he went away H5927 (QalImpf) from Jerusalem. Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually.

And the anger H639 of the Lord H3068 was kindled H2734 (QalImpf) against Israel, H3478 and he delivered H5414 (QalImpf) them into the hand H3027 of Hazael H2371 king H4428 of Syria, H758 and into the hand H3027 of Benhadad H1130 the son H1121 of Hazael, H2371 all [their] days. H3117

και ωργισθη θυμω κυριος εν τω ισραηλ και εδωκεν αυτους εν χειρι αζαηλ βασιλεως συριας και εν χειρι υιου αδερ υιου αζαηλ πασας τας ημερας

Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

But Hazael H2371 king H4428 of Syria H758 oppressed H3905 (QalPerf) Israel H3478 all the days H3117 of Jehoahaz. H3059

και αζαηλ εξεθλιψεν τον ισραηλ πασας τας ημερας ιωαχας

Hazael king of Syria died; and Benhadad his son reigned in his place.

So Hazael H2371 king H4428 of Syria H758 died; H4191 (QalImpf) and Benhadad H1130 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (QalImpf) in his stead.

και απεθανεν αζαηλ βασιλευς συριας και εβασιλευσεν υιος αδερ υιος αυτου αντ αυτου

Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Joash struck him three times, and recovered the cities of Israel.

And Jehoash H3060 the son H1121 of Jehoahaz H3059 took H3947 (QalImpf) again H7725 (QalImpf) out of the hand H3027 of Benhadad H1130 the son H1121 of Hazael H2371 the cities, H5892 which he had taken H3947 (QalPerf) out of the hand H3027 of Jehoahaz H3059 his father H1 by war. H4421 Three H7969 times H6471 did Joash H3101 beat H5221 (HiphPerf) him, and recovered H7725 (HiphImpf) the cities H5892 of Israel. H3478

και επεστρεψεν ιωας υιος ιωαχας και ελαβεν τας πολεις εκ χειρος υιου αδερ υιου αζαηλ ας ελαβεν εκ χειρος ιωαχας του πατρος αυτου εν τω πολεμω τρις επαταξεν αυτον ιωας και επεστρεψεν τας πολεις ισραηλ

He also followed their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

H3141

και εν ταις βουλαις αυτων επορευθη και επορευθη μετα ιωραμ υιου αχααβ εις πολεμον επι αζαηλ βασιλεα συριας εις ραμα γαλααδ και επαταξαν οι τοξοται τον ιωραμ

He returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Azariah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

And he returned H7725 (QalImpf) to be healed H7495 (HithInf) in Jezreel H3157 because of the wounds H4347 which were given H5221 (HiphPerf) him at Ramah, H7414 when he fought H3898 (NiphInf) with Hazael H2371 king H4428 of Syria. H758 And Azariah H5838 the son H1121 of Jehoram H3088 king H4428 of Judah H3063 went down H3381 (QalPerf) to see H7200 (QalInf) Jehoram H3088 the son H1121 of Ahab H256 at Jezreel, H3157 because he was sick. H2470 (QalActPtc)

και επεστρεψεν ιωραμ του ιατρευθηναι εις ιεζραελ απο των πληγων ων επαταξαν αυτον οι συροι εν ραμα εν τω πολεμειν αυτον προς αζαηλ βασιλεα συριας και οχοζιας υιος ιωραμ βασιλευς ιουδα κατεβη θεασασθαι τον ιωραμ υιον αχααβ εις ιεζραελ οτι ηρρωστει

but I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it will devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.

But I will send H7971 (PielPerf) a fire H784 into the house H1004 of Hazael, H2371 which shall devour H398 (QalPerf) the palaces H759 of Benhadad. H1130
