When these days were fulfilled, the king made a seven day feast for all the people who were present in Susa the palace, both great and small, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace.

Esther 1:5 Heb. found

οτε δε ανεπληρωθησαν αι ημεραι του γαμου εποιησεν ο βασιλευς ποτον τοις εθνεσιν τοις ευρεθεισιν εις την πολιν επι ημερας εξ εν αυλη οικου του βασιλεως

Let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the beautiful young virgins to the citadel of Susa, to the women’s house, to the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, keeper of the women. Let cosmetics be given them;

There was a certain Jew in the citadel of Susa whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite,

και ανθρωπος ην ιουδαιος εν σουσοις τη πολει και ονομα αυτω μαρδοχαιος ο του ιαιρου του σεμειου του κισαιου εκ φυλης βενιαμιν

So, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together to the citadel of Susa, to the custody of Hegai, Esther was taken into the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

So it came to pass, when the king’s H4428 commandment H1697 and his decree H1881 was heard, H8085 (NiphInf) and when many H7227 maidens H5291 were gathered together H6908 (NiphInf) unto Shushan H7800 the palace, H1002 to the custody H3027 of Hegai, H1896 that Esther H635 was brought H3947 (NiphImpf) also unto the king’s H4428 house, H1004 to the custody H3027 of Hegai, H1896 keeper H8104 (QalActPtc) of the women. The couriers went out in haste by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given out in the citadel of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Susa was perplexed.

εσπευδετο δε το πραγμα και εις σουσαν ο δε βασιλευς και αμαν εκωθωνιζοντο εταρασσετο δε η πολις

He also gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given out in Susa to destroy them, to show it to Esther, and to declare it to her, and to urge her to go in to the king to make supplication to him, and to make request before him for her people.

“Go, gather together all the Jews who are present in Susa, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day. I and my maidens will also fast the same way. Then I will go in to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish.”

So the couriers who rode on royal horses went out, hastened and pressed on by the king’s commandment. The decree was given out in the citadel of Susa.

οι μεν ουν ιππεις εξηλθον σπευδοντες τα υπο του βασιλεως λεγομενα επιτελειν εξετεθη δε το προσταγμα και εν σουσοις

Mordecai went out of the presence of the king in royal clothing of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple; and the city of Susa shouted and was glad.

Esther 8:15 Or, violet

ο δε μαρδοχαιος εξηλθεν εστολισμενος την βασιλικην στολην και στεφανον εχων χρυσουν και διαδημα βυσσινον πορφυρουν ιδοντες δε οι εν σουσοις εχαρησαν

In the citadel of Susa, the Jews killed and destroyed five hundred men.

και εν σουσοις τη πολει απεκτειναν οι ιουδαιοι ανδρας πεντακοσιους

On that day, the number of those who were slain in the citadel of Susa was brought before the king.

Esther 9:11 Heb. came

εν αυτη τη ημερα επεδοθη ο αριθμος τω βασιλει των απολωλοτων εν σουσοις

The king said to Esther the queen, “The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in the citadel of Susa, including the ten sons of Haman; what then have they done in the rest of the king’s provinces! Now what is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your further request? It shall be done.”

And the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Esther H635 the queen, H4436 The Jews H3064 have slain H2026 (QalPerf) and destroyed H6 (PielInf) five H2568 hundred H3967 men H376 in Shushan H7800 the palace, H1002 and the ten H6235 sons H1121 of Haman; H2001 what have they done H6213 (QalPerf) in the rest H7605 of the king’s H4428 provinces? H4082 now what is thy petition? H7596 and it shall be granted H5414 (NiphImpf) thee: or what is thy request H1246 further? H5750 and it shall be done. H6213 (NiphImpf)

ειπεν δε ο βασιλευς προς εσθηρ απωλεσαν οι ιουδαιοι εν σουσοις τη πολει ανδρας πεντακοσιους εν δε τη περιχωρω πως οιει εχρησαντο τι ουν αξιοις ετι και εσται σοι

Then Esther said, “If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Susa to do tomorrow also according to today’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows.”

και ειπεν εσθηρ τω βασιλει δοθητω τοις ιουδαιοις χρησθαι ωσαυτως την αυριον ωστε τους δεκα υιους κρεμασαι αμαν

The king commanded this to be done. A decree was given out in Susa; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.

And the king H4428 commanded H559 (QalImpf) it so to be done: H6213 (NiphInf) and the decree H1881 was given H5414 (NiphImpf) at Shushan; H7800 and they hanged H8518 (QalPerf) Haman’s H2001 ten H6235 sons. H1121

και επετρεψεν ουτως γενεσθαι και εξεθηκε τοις ιουδαιοις της πολεως τα σωματα των υιων αμαν κρεμασαι

The Jews who were in Susa gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and killed three hundred men in Susa; but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.

For the Jews H3064 that were in Shushan H7800 gathered themselves together H6950 (NiphImpf) on the fourteenth H702 H6240 day H3117 also of the month H2320 Adar, H143 and slew H2026 (QalImpf) three H7969 hundred H3967 men H376 at Shushan; H7800 but on the prey H961 they laid H7971 (QalPerf) not their hand. και συνηχθησαν οι ιουδαιοι εν σουσοις τη τεσσαρεσκαιδεκατη του αδαρ και απεκτειναν ανδρας τριακοσιους και ουδεν διηρπασαν

But the Jews who were in Susa assembled together on the thirteenth and on the fourteenth days of the month; and on the fifteenth day of that month, they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

But the Jews H3064 that were at Shushan H7800 assembled together H6950 (NiphPerf) on the thirteenth H7969 H6240 day thereof, and on the fourteenth H702 H6240 thereof; and on the fifteenth H2568 H6240 day of the same they rested, H5118 and made H6213 (QalInf) it a day H3117 of feasting H4960 and gladness. I saw the vision. Now it was so, that when I saw, I was in the citadel of Susa, which is in the province of Elam. I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai.
