Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus, both near and far,

He sent letters to all the Jews in the hundred twenty-seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus with words of peace and truth,

His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his birthday; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

συμπορευομενοι δε οι υιοι αυτου προς αλληλους εποιουσαν ποτον καθ εκαστην ημεραν συμπαραλαμβανοντες αμα και τας τρεις αδελφας αυτων εσθιειν και πινειν μετ αυτων

It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.

και ως αν συνετελεσθησαν αι ημεραι του ποτου απεστελλεν ιωβ και εκαθαριζεν αυτους ανισταμενος το πρωι και προσεφερεν περι αυτων θυσιας κατα τον αριθμον αυτων και μοσχον ενα περι αμαρτιας περι των ψυχων αυτων ελεγεν γαρ ιωβ μηποτε οι υιοι μου εν τη διανοια αυτων κακα ενενοησαν προς θεον ουτως ουν εποιει ιωβ πασας τας ημερας

But stretch out your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.”

αλλα αποστειλον την χειρα σου και αψαι παντων ων εχει ει μην εις προσωπον σε ευλογησει

Yahweh said to Satan, “Behold,^§ all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don’t stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of Yahweh.

Job 1:12 “Behold”, from “הִנֵּה”, means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection.

who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;

τον διδοντα υετον επι την γην αποστελλοντα υδωρ επι την υπ ουρανον

If your children have sinned against him, he has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience.

ει οι υιοι σου ημαρτον εναντιον αυτου απεστειλεν εν χειρι ανομιας αυτων

Behold, he withholds the waters, and they dry up. Again, he sends them out, and they overturn the earth.

εαν κωλυση το ωδωρ ξηρανει την γην εαν δε επαφη απωλεσεν αυτην καταστρεψας

You forever prevail against him, and he departs. You change his face, and send him away.

ωσας αυτον εις τελος και ωχετο επεστησας αυτω το προσωπον και εξαπεστειλας

For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he wanders into its mesh.

εμβεβληται δε ο πους αυτου εν παγιδι εν δικτυω ελιχθειη

When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating.

ει πως πληρωσαι γαστερα αυτου επαποστειλαι επ αυτον θυμον οργης νιψαι επ αυτον οδυνας

They send out their little ones like a flock. Their children dance.

μενουσιν δε ως προβατα αιωνια τα δε παιδια αυτων προσπαιζουσιν

You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

χηρας δε εξαπεστειλας κενας ορφανους δε εκακωσας

He puts his hand on the flinty rock, and he overturns the mountains by the roots.

εν ακροτομω εξετεινεν χειρα αυτου κατεστρεψεν δε εκ ριζων ορη

For he has untied his cord, and afflicted me; and they have thrown off restraint before me.

ανοιξας γαρ φαρετραν αυτου εκακωσεν με και χαλινον του προσωπου μου εξαπεστειλαν

On my right hand rise the rabble. They thrust aside my feet. They cast their ways of destruction up against me.

επι δεξιων βλαστου επανεστησαν ποδα αυτων εξετειναν και ωδοποιησαν επ εμε τριβους απωλειας αυτων

“However doesn’t one stretch out a hand in his fall? Or in his calamity therefore cry for help?

Howbeit he will not stretch out H7971 (QalImpf) [his] hand H3027 to the grave, H1164 though they cry H7769 in his destruction. H6365

ει γαρ οφελον δυναιμην εμαυτον χειρωσασθαι η δεηθεις γε ετερου και ποιησει μοι τουτο

Can you send out lightnings, that they may go? Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?

Canst thou send H7971 (PielImpf) lightnings, H1300 that they may go, H3212 (QalImpf) and say H559 (QalImpf) unto thee, Here we [are]?

αποστελεις δε κεραυνους και πορευσονται ερουσιν δε σοι τι εστιν

They bow themselves. They bear their young. They end their labor pains.

εξεθρεψας δε αυτων τα παιδια εξω φοβου ωδινας αυτων εξαποστελεις

“Who has set the wild donkey free? Or who has loosened the bonds of the swift donkey,

τις δε εστιν ο αφεις ονον αγριον ελευθερον δεσμους δε αυτου τις ελυσεν

He sent out his arrows, and scattered them. He routed them with great lightning bolts.

Yea, he sent out H7971 (QalImpf) his arrows, H2671 and scattered H6327 (HiphImpf) them; and he shot out H7232 (QalPerf) lightnings, H1300 and discomfited H2000 (QalImpf) them.

^[17:15] και εξαπεστειλεν βελη και εσκορπισεν αυτους και αστραπας επληθυνεν και συνεταραξεν αυτους

He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters.

^[19:3] εξαποστειλαι σοι βοηθειαν εξ αγιου και εκ σιων αντιλαβοιτο σου

Oh, send out your light and your truth. Let them lead me. Let them bring me to your holy hill, to your tents.

O send out H7971 (QalImpv) thy light H216 and thy truth: H571 let them lead H5148 (HiphImpf) me; let them bring H935 (HiphImpf) me unto thy holy H6944 hill, H2022 and to thy tabernacles. H4908

^[42:3] εξαποστειλον το φως σου και την αληθειαν σου αυτα με ωδηγησαν και ηγαγον με εις ορος αγιον σου και εις τα σκηνωματα σου

You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.

[How] thou didst drive out H3423 (HiphPerf) the heathen H1471 with thy hand, H3027 and plantedst H5193 (QalImpf) them; [how] thou didst afflict H7489 (HiphImpf) the people, H3816 and cast them out. H7971 (PielImpf)

^[43:3] η χειρ σου εθνη εξωλεθρευσεν και κατεφυτευσας αυτους εκακωσας λαους και εξεβαλες αυτους

“You give your mouth to evil. Your tongue frames deceit.

Thou givest H7971 (QalPerf) thy mouth H6310 to evil, H7451 and thy tongue H3956 frameth H6775 (HiphImpf) deceit. H4820

^[49:19] το στομα σου επλεονασεν κακιαν και η γλωσσα σου περιεπλεκεν δολιοτητα

He raises his hands against his friends. He has violated his covenant.

He hath put forth H7971 (QalPerf) his hands H3027 against such as be at peace H7965 with him: he hath broken H2490 (PielPerf) his covenant. H1285

^[54:21] εξετεινεν την χειρα αυτου εν τω αποδιδοναι εβεβηλωσαν την διαθηκην αυτου

He will send from heaven, and save me, he rebukes the one who is pursuing me. Selah. God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.

^[56:4] εξαπεστειλεν εξ ουρανου και εσωσεν με εδωκεν εις ονειδος τους καταπατουντας με διαψαλμα εξαπεστειλεν ο θεος το ελεος αυτου και την αληθειαν αυτου

They have burned your sanctuary to the ground. They have profaned the dwelling place of your Name.

Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.

^[77:25] αρτον αγγελων εφαγεν ανθρωπος επισιτισμον απεστειλεν αυτοις εις πλησμονην

He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.

He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil.

It sent out its branches to the sea, its shoots to the River.

He has sent redemption to his people. He has ordained his covenant forever. His name is holy and awesome!

For the scepter of wickedness won’t remain over the allotment of the righteous, so that the righteous won’t use their hands to do evil.

^[124:3] οτι ουκ αφησει την ραβδον των αμαρτωλων επι τον κληρον των δικαιων οπως αν μη εκτεινωσιν οι δικαιοι εν ανομια χειρας αυτων

He sent signs and wonders into the middle of you, Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his servants.

Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.

^[137:7] εαν πορευθω εν μεσω θλιψεως ζησεις με επ οργην εχθρων μου εξετεινας χειρα σου και εσωσεν με η δεξια σου

Throw out lightning, and scatter them. Send out your arrows, and rout them.

Cast forth H1299 (QalImpv) lightning, H1300 and scatter H6327 (HiphImpf) them: shoot out H7971 (QalImpv) thine arrows, H2671 and destroy H2000 (QalImpf) them.
