‘Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons,’ says Yahweh; ‘and I will repay you in this plot of ground,’ says Yahweh. Now therefore take and cast him onto the plot of ground, according to Yahweh’s word.”

But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. Jehu followed after him, and said, “Strike him also in the chariot!” They struck him at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. He fled to Megiddo, and died there.

But when Ahaziah H274 the king H4428 of Judah H3063 saw H7200 (QalPerf) [this], he fled H5127 (QalImpf) by the way H1870 of the garden H1588 house. And Ahaziah king of Judah hath seen, and fleeth the way of the garden-house, and Jehu pursueth after him, and saith, ‘Smite him-also him-in the chariot,’ in the going up to Gur, that is Ibleam, and he fleeth to Megiddo, and dieth there,

select the best and fittest of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.”

Jehu went with Jehonadab the son of Rechab into the house of Baal. Then he said to the worshipers of Baal, “Search, and see that none of the servants of Yahweh are here with you, but only the worshipers of Baal.”

Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal offspring.

In the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the captains over hundreds of the Carites and of the guard, and brought them to him into Yahweh’s house; and he made a covenant with them, and made a covenant with them in Yahweh’s house, and showed them the king’s son.

When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put it in bags and counted the money that was found in Yahweh’s house.

And it cometh to pass, at their seeing that the money is abundant in the chest, that there goeth up a scribe of the king, and of the high priest, and they bind it up, and count the money that is found in the house of Jehovah,

Jehoahaz begged Yahweh, and Yahweh listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.

and it cometh to pass, they are burying a man, and lo, they have seen the troop, and cast the man into the grave of Elisha, and the man goeth and cometh against the bones of Elisha, and liveth, and riseth on his feet.

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let’s look one another in the face.”

then hath Amaziah sent messengers unto Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, ‘Come, we look one another in the face.’

But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.

And Amaziah hath not hearkened, and go up doth Jehoash king of Israel, and they look one another in the face, he and Amaziah king of Judah, in Beth-Shemesh, that is Judah’s,

For Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter for all, slave and free; and there was no helper for Israel.

for Jehovah hath seen the affliction of Israel-very bitter, and there is none restrained, and there is none left, and there is no helper to Israel;

King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest a drawing of the altar and plans to build it.

And king Ahaz goeth to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur at Damascus, and seeth the altar that is in Damascus, and king Ahaz sendeth unto Urijah the priest the likeness of the altar, and its pattern, according to all its work,

When the king had come from Damascus, the king saw the altar; and the king came near to the altar, and offered on it.

And when the king H4428 was come H935 (QalImpf) from Damascus, H1834 the king H4428 saw H7200 (QalImpf) the altar: H4196 and the king H4428 approached H7126 (QalImpf) to the altar, H4196 and offered H5927 (HiphImpf) thereon.

And the king cometh in from Damascus, and the king seeth the altar, and the king draweth near on the altar, and offereth on it,

Incline your ear, Yahweh, and hear. Open your eyes, Yahweh, and see. Hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to defy the living God.

Incline, O Jehovah, Thine ear, and hear; open, O Jehovah, Thine eyes, and see; and hear Thou the words of Sennacherib with which he hath sent him to reproach the living God.

“Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to Yahweh’s house.

‘Turn back, and thou hast said unto Hezekiah, leader of My people: Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tear, lo, I give healing to thee, on the third day thou dost go up to the house of Jehovah;

Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the storehouse of his precious things—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, or in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn’t show them.

and Hezekiah hearkeneth unto them, and sheweth them all the house of his treasury, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the good ointment, and all the house of his vessels, and all that hath been found in his treasuries; there hath not been a thing that Hezekiah hath not shewed them, in his house, and in all his dominion.

He said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them.”

‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’ ” ’ ” So they brought this message back to the king.

therefore, lo, I am gathering thee unto thy fathers, and thou hast been gathered unto thy grave in peace, and thine eyes do not look on any of the evil that I am bringing in on this place;’ and they bring the king back word.

As Josiah turned himself, he spied the tombs that were there in the mountain; and he sent, and took the bones out of the tombs, and burned them on the altar, and defiled it, according to Yahweh’s word which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

And as Josiah H2977 turned H6437 (QalImpf) himself, he spied H7200 (QalImpf) the sepulchres H6913 that [were] there in the mount, H2022 and sent, H7971 (QalImpf) and took H3947 (QalImpf) the bones H6106 out of the sepulchres, H6913 and burned H8313 (QalImpf) [them] upon the altar, H4196 and polluted H2930 (PielImpf) it, according to the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 which the man H376 of God H430 proclaimed, H7121 (QalPerf) who proclaimed H7121 (QalPerf) these words. And Josiah turneth, and seeth the graves that are there in the mount, and sendeth and taketh the bones out of the graves, and burneth them on the altar, and defileth it, according to the word of Jehovah that the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

Then he said, “What monument is that which I see?” The men of the city told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things that you have done against the altar of Bethel.”

Then he said, H559 (QalImpf) What title H6725 [is] that H1975 that I see? H7200 (QalActPtc) And the men H582 of the city H5892 told H559 (QalImpf) him, [It is] the sepulchre H6913 of the man H376 of God, H430 which came H935 (QalPerf) from Judah, H3063 and proclaimed H7121 (QalImpf) these things H1697 that thou hast done H6213 (QalPerf) against the altar H4196 of Bethel. And he saith, ‘What is this sign that I see?’ and the men of the city say unto him, ‘The grave of the man of God who hath come from Judah, and proclaimeth these things that thou hast done concerning the altar of Beth-El.’

Moreover, Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim,° and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

And also, those having familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the teraphim, and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah, and in Jerusalem, hath Josiah put away, in order to establish the words of the law that are written on the book that Hilkiah the priest hath found in the house of Jehovah.

In his days Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him, but Pharaoh Necoh killed him at Megiddo when he saw him.

All these who were chosen to be gatekeepers in the thresholds were two hundred twelve. These were listed by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer ordained in their office of trust.

All of those who are chosen for gatekeepers at the thresholds are two hundred and twelve; they are in their villages, by their genealogy; they whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their office.

When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword and died.

and it cometh to pass, the ark of the covenant of Jehovah is entering in unto the city of David, and Michal daughter of Saul is looking through the window, and seeth king David dancing and playing, and despiseth him in her heart.

This was a small thing in your eyes, O God, but you have spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have respected me according to the standard of a man of high degree, Yahweh God.

And [yet] this was a small thing H6994 (QalImpf) in thine eyes, H5869 O God; H430 for thou hast [also] spoken H1696 (PielImpf) of thy servant’s H5650 house H1004 for a great while to come, H7350 and hast regarded H7200 (QalPerf) me according to the estate H8448 of a man H120 of high degree, H4609 O Lord H3068 God. And this is small in Thine eyes, O God, and Thou speakest concerning the house of thy servant afar off, and hast seen me as a type of the man who is on high, O Jehovah God!

When the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent one thousand talents° of silver to hire chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, out of Aram-maacah, and out of Zobah.

And the sons of Ammon see that they have made themselves abhorred by David, and Hanun and the sons of Ammon send a thousand talents of silver, to hire to them, from Aram-Naharaim, and from Aram-Maachah, and from Zobah, chariots and horsemen;

Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose some of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.

And Joab seeth that the front of the battle hath been unto him, before and behind, and he chooseth out of all the choice in Israel, and setteth in array to meet Aram,

When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.

And when the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 saw H7200 (QalPerf) that the Syrians H758 were fled, H5127 (QalPerf) they likewise fled H5127 (QalImpf) before H6440 Abishai H52 his brother, H251 and entered H935 (QalImpf) into the city. H5892 Then Joab H3097 came H935 (QalImpf) to Jerusalem. H3389

and the sons of Ammon have seen that Aram hath fled, and they flee-they also-from the face of Abishai his brother, and go in to the city. And Joab cometh in to Jerusalem.

When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River,^§ with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

And when the Syrians H758 saw H7200 (QalImpf) that they were put to the worse H5062 (NiphPerf) before H6440 Israel, H3478 they sent H7971 (QalImpf) messengers, H4397 and drew forth H3318 (HiphImpf) the Syrians H758 that [were] beyond H5676 the river: H5104 and Shophach H7780 the captain H8269 of the host H6635 of Hadarezer H1928 [went] before H6440 them.

And Aram seeth that they have been smitten before Israel, and send messengers, and bring out Aram that is beyond the River, and Shophach head of the host of Hadarezer is before them.

When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and served him. The Syrians would not help the children of Ammon any more.

And when the servants H5650 of Hadarezer H1928 saw H7200 (QalImpf) that they were put to the worse H5062 (NiphPerf) before H6440 Israel, H3478 they made peace H7999 (HiphImpf) with David, H1732 and became his servants: H5647 (QalImpf) neither would H14 (QalPerf) the Syrians H758 help H3467 (HiphInf) the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 any more.

And the servants of Hadarezer see that they have been smitten before Israel, and they make peace with David and serve him, and Aram hath not been willing to help the sons of Ammon any more.

either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days of the sword of Yahweh, even pestilence in the land, and Yahweh’s angel destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.’ ”

God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was about to destroy, Yahweh saw, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the destroying angel, “It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” Yahweh’s angel was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

and God sendeth a messenger to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he is destroying Jehovah hath seen, and is comforted concerning the evil, and saith to the messenger who is destroying, ‘Enough, now, cease thy hand.’ And the messenger of Jehovah is standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite,

David lifted up his eyes, and saw Yahweh’s angel standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.

and David lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the messenger of Jehovah standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falleth, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces.

Ornan turned back and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

And Ornan H771 turned back, H7725 (QalImpf) and saw H7200 (QalImpf) the angel; H4397 and his four H702 sons H1121 with him hid H2244 (HithPtc) themselves. Now Ornan H771 was threshing H1758 (QalPerf) wheat. H2406

And Ornan turneth back, and seeth the messenger, and his four sons are with him, hiding themselves, and Ornan is threshing wheat.

As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

And as David H1732 came H935 (QalImpf) to Ornan, H771 Ornan H771 looked H5027 (HiphImpf) and saw H7200 (QalImpf) David, H1732 and went out H3318 (QalImpf) of the threshingfloor, H1637 and bowed H7812 (HithImpf) himself to David H1732 with [his] face H639 to the ground. H776

And David cometh in unto Ornan, and Ornan looketh attentively, and seeth David, and goeth out from the threshing-floor, and boweth himself to David-face to the earth.

Ornan said to David, “Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.”

And Ornan saith unto David, ‘Take to thee-and my lord the king doth that which is good in his eyes: see, I have given the oxen for burnt-offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for a present; the whole I have given.’

At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

All that Samuel the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated, whoever had dedicated anything, it was under the hand of Shelomoth and of his brothers.

and all that Samuel the seer, and Saul son of Kish, and Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah sanctified, every one sanctifying any thing-it is by the side of Shelomith and his brethren.

Take heed now, for Yahweh has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong, and do it.”

I know also, my God, that you try the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things. Now I have seen with joy your people, who are present here, offer willingly to you.

That night, God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for what you want me to give you.”

In that night hath God appeared to Solomon, and saith to him, ‘Ask-what do I give to thee?’

Then Solomon began to build Yahweh’s house at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where Yahweh appeared to David his father, which he prepared in the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

And Solomon beginneth to build the house of Jehovah, in Jerusalem, in the mount of Moriah, where He appeared to David his father, in the place that David had prepared, in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite,
