for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tent to another.

οτι ου κατωκησα εν οικω απο της ημερας ης ανηγαγον τον ισραηλ εως της ημερας ταυτης και ημην εν σκηνη και εν καταλυματι

In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’ ” ’

and from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that Yahweh will build you a house.

και αφ ημερων ων εταξα κριτας επι τον λαον μου ισραηλ και εταπεινωσα απαντας τους εχθρους σου και αυξησω σε και οικον οικοδομησει σοι κυριος

He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.

και πιστωσω αυτον εν οικω μου και εν βασιλεια αυτου εως αιωνος και ο θρονος αυτου εσται ανωρθωμενος εως αιωνος

Then David the king went in and sat before Yahweh; and he said, “Who am I, Yahweh God, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?

This was a small thing in your eyes, O God, but you have spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have respected me according to the standard of a man of high degree, Yahweh God.

και εσμικρυνθη ταυτα ενωπιον σου ο θεος και ελαλησας επι τον οικον του παιδος σου εκ μακρων και επειδες με ως ορασις ανθρωπου και υψωσας με κυριε ο θεος

Now, Yahweh, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as you have spoken.

Let your name be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel. The house of David your servant is established before you.’

λεγοντων κυριε κυριε παντοκρατωρ θεος ισραηλ και ο οικος δαυιδ παιδος σου ανωρθωμενος εναντιον σου

For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you.

For thou, O my God, H430 hast told H1540 (QalPerf) H241 thy servant H5650 that thou wilt build H1129 (QalInf) him an house: H1004 therefore thy servant H5650 hath found H4672 (QalPerf) [in his heart] to pray H6419 (HithInf) before H6440 thee.

οτι συ κυριε ηνοιξας το ους του παιδος σου του οικοδομησαι αυτω οικον δια τουτο ευρεν ο παις σου του προσευξασθαι κατα προσωπον σου

Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Yahweh, have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”

Now therefore let it please H2974 (HiphPerf) thee to bless H1288 (PielInf) the house H1004 of thy servant, H5650 that it may be before H6440 thee for ever: H5769 for thou blessest, H1288 (PielPerf) O Lord, H3068 and [it shall be] blessed H1288 (PualPtc) for ever. H5769

και νυν ηρξω του ευλογησαι τον οικον του παιδος σου του ειναι εις τον αιωνα εναντιον σου οτι συ κυριε ευλογησας και ευλογησον εις τον αιωνα

David said to God, “Isn’t it I who commanded the people to be counted? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O Yahweh my God, be against me and against my father’s house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.”

Then David said, “This is the house of Yahweh God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”

Then David H1732 said, H559 (QalImpf) This [is] the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 God, H430 and this [is] the altar H4196 of the burnt offering H5930 for Israel. H3478

και ειπεν δαυιδ ουτος εστιν ο οικος κυριου του θεου και τουτο το θυσιαστηριον εις ολοκαυτωσιν τω ισραηλ

David gave orders to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to cut dressed stones to build God’s house.

και ειπεν δαυιδ συναγαγειν παντας τους προσηλυτους εν γη ισραηλ και κατεστησεν λατομους λατομησαι λιθους ξυστους του οικοδομησαι οικον τω θεω

David said, “Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it.” So David prepared abundantly before his death.

And David H1732 said, H559 (QalImpf) Solomon H8010 my son H1121 [is] young H5288 and tender, H7390 and the house H1004 [that is] to be builded H1129 (QalInf) for the Lord H3068 [must be] exceeding H4605 magnifical, H1431 (HiphInf) of fame H8034 and of glory H8597 throughout all countries: H776 I will [therefore] now make preparation H3559 (HiphImpf) for it. So David H1732 prepared H3559 (HiphImpf) abundantly H7230 before H6440 his death. H4194

και ειπεν δαυιδ σαλωμων ο υιος μου παιδαριον απαλον και ο οικος του οικοδομησαι τω κυριω εις μεγαλωσυνην ανω εις ονομα και εις δοξαν εις πασαν την γην ετοιμασω αυτω και ητοιμασεν δαυιδ εις πληθος εμπροσθεν της τελευτης αυτου

Then he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, the God of Israel.

Then he called H7121 (QalImpf) for Solomon H8010 his son, H1121 and charged H6680 (PielImpf) him to build H1129 (QalInf) an house H1004 for the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel. H3478

David said to Solomon his son, “As for me, it was in my heart to build a house to the name of Yahweh my God.

και ειπεν δαυιδ σαλωμων τεκνον εμοι εγενετο επι ψυχη του οικοδομησαι οικον τω ονοματι κυριου θεου

But Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, ‘You have shed blood abundantly and have made great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.

But the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 came to me, saying, H559 (QalInf) Thou hast shed H8210 (QalPerf) blood H1818 abundantly, H7230 and hast made H6213 (QalPerf) great H1419 wars: H4421 thou shalt not build H1129 (QalImpf) an house H1004 unto my name, H8034 because thou hast shed H8210 (QalPerf) much H7227 blood H1818 upon the earth H776 in my sight. και εγενετο επ εμοι λογος κυριου λεγων αιμα εις πληθος εξεχεας και πολεμους μεγαλους εποιησας ουκ οικοδομησεις οικον τω ονοματι μου οτι αιματα πολλα εξεχεας επι της γης εναντιον μου

He shall build a house for my name; and he will be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’

Now, my son, may Yahweh be with you and prosper you, and build the house of Yahweh your God, as he has spoken concerning you.

Now, my son, H1121 the Lord H3068 be with thee; and prosper H6743 (HiphPerf) thou, and build H1129 (QalPerf) the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 as he hath said H1696 (PielPerf) of thee.

και νυν υιε μου εσται μετα σου κυριος και ευοδωσει και οικοδομησεις οικον τω κυριω θεω σου ως ελαλησεν περι σου

Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for Yahweh’s house one hundred thousand talents° of gold, one million talents° of silver, and bronze and iron without weight; for it is in abundance. I have also prepared timber and stone; and you may add to them.

απο τουτων εργοδιωκται επι τα εργα οικου κυριου εικοσι τεσσαρες χιλιαδες και γραμματεις και κριται εξακισχιλιοι

Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second; but Jeush and Beriah didn’t have many sons; therefore they became a fathers’ house in one reckoning.

For their duty was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of Yahweh’s house—in the courts, in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

and that they should keep the duty of the Tent of Meeting, the duty of the holy place, and the duty of the sons of Aaron their brothers for the service of Yahweh’s house.

There were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and they were divided like this: of the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen, heads of fathers’ houses; and of the sons of Ithamar, according to their fathers’ houses, eight.

και εγραψεν αυτους σαμαιας υιος ναθαναηλ ο γραμματευς εκ του λευι κατεναντι του βασιλεως και των αρχοντων και σαδωκ ο ιερευς και αχιμελεχ υιος αβιαθαρ και αρχοντες των πατριων των ιερεων και των λευιτων οικου πατριας εις εις τω ελεαζαρ και εις εις τω ιθαμαρ

This was their ordering in their service, to come into Yahweh’s house according to the ordinance given to them by Aaron their father, as Yahweh, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
