You have declared today that Yahweh is your God, and that you would walk in his ways, keep his statutes, his commandments, and his ordinances, and listen to his voice.

τον θεον ειλου σημερον ειναι σου θεον και πορευεσθαι εν ταις οδοις αυτου και φυλασσεσθαι τα δικαιωματα και τα κριματα αυτου και υπακουειν της φωνης αυτου

Yahweh has declared today that you are a people for his own possession, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his commandments.

και κυριος ειλατο σε σημερον γενεσθαι σε αυτω λαον περιουσιον καθαπερ ειπεν σοι φυλασσειν πασας τας εντολας αυτου

He will make you high above all nations that he has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to Yahweh your God, as he has spoken.

and to make H5414 (QalInf) thee high H5945 above all nations H1471 which he hath made, H6213 (QalPerf) in praise, H8416 and in name, H8034 and in honour; H8597 and that thou mayest be an holy H6918 people H5971 unto the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 as he hath spoken. H1696 (PielPerf)

και ειναι σε υπερανω παντων των εθνων ως εποιησεν σε ονομαστον και καυχημα και δοξαστον ειναι σε λαον αγιον κυριω τω θεω σου καθως ελαλησεν

It shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, that you shall set yourself up great stones, and coat them with plaster.

It shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, on Mount Ebal, and you shall coat them with plaster.

Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, saying, “Be silent and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of Yahweh your God.

και ελαλησεν μωυσης και οι ιερεις οι λευιται παντι ισραηλ λεγοντες σιωπα και ακουε ισραηλ εν τη ημερα ταυτη γεγονας εις λαον κυριω τω θεω σου

It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

Yahweh will make you the head, and not the tail. You will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you today, to observe and to do,

καταστησαι σε κυριος ο θεος σου εις κεφαλην και μη εις ουραν και εση τοτε επανω και ουκ εση υποκατω εαν ακουσης των εντολων κυριου του θεου σου οσα εγω εντελλομαι σοι σημερον φυλασσειν και ποιειν

But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come on you and overtake you.

Your sky that is over your head will be bronze, and the earth that is under you will be iron.

και εσται σοι ο ουρανος ο υπερ κεφαλης σου χαλκους και η γη η υποκατω σου σιδηρα

Yahweh will cause you to be struck before your enemies. You will go out one way against them, and will flee seven ways before them. You will be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.

δωη σε κυριος επικοπην εναντιον των εχθρων σου εν οδω μια εξελευση προς αυτους και εν επτα οδοις φευξη απο προσωπου αυτων και εση εν διασπορα εν πασαις ταις βασιλειαις της γης

Your dead bodies will be food to all birds of the sky, and to the animals of the earth; and there will be no one to frighten them away.

A nation which you don’t know will eat the fruit of your ground and all of your work. You will only be oppressed and crushed always,

τα εκφορια της γης σου και παντας τους πονους σου φαγεται εθνος ο ουκ επιστασαι και εση αδικουμενος και τεθραυσμενος πασας τας ημερας

so that the sights that you see with your eyes will drive you mad.

και εση παραπληκτος δια τα οραματα των οφθαλμων σου α βλεψη

You will become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh will lead you away.

And thou shalt become an astonishment, H8047 a proverb, H4912 and a byword, H8148 among all nations H5971 whither the Lord H3068 shall lead H5090 (PielImpf) thee.

και εση εκει εν αινιγματι και παραβολη και διηγηματι εν πασιν τοις εθνεσιν εις ους αν απαγαγη σε κυριος εκει

You will have olive trees throughout all your borders, but you won’t anoint yourself with the oil, for your olives will drop off.

Thou shalt have olive trees H2132 throughout all thy coasts, H1366 but thou shalt not anoint H5480 (QalImpf) thyself with the oil; H8081 for thine olive H2132 shall cast H5394 (QalImpf) his fruit.

ελαιαι εσονται σοι εν πασι τοις οριοις σου και ελαιον ου χριση οτι εκρυησεται η ελαια σου

You will father sons and daughters, but they will not be yours, for they will go into captivity.

Thou shalt beget H3205 (HiphImpf) sons H1121 and daughters, H1323 but thou shalt not enjoy them;^§ for they shall go H3212 (QalImpf) into captivity. H7628

Deuteronomy 28:41 Heb. they shall not be thine

υιους και θυγατερας γεννησεις και ουκ εσονται σοι απελευσονται γαρ εν αιχμαλωσια

He will lend to you, and you won’t lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail.

και καταλειφθησεσθε εν αριθμω βραχει ανθ ων οτι ητε ωσει τα αστρα του ουρανου τω πληθει οτι ουκ εισηκουσατε της φωνης κυριου του θεου υμων

It will happen that as Yahweh rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so Yahweh will rejoice over you to cause you to perish and to destroy you. You will be plucked from the land that you are going in to possess.

Among these nations you will find no ease, and there will be no rest for the sole of your foot; but Yahweh will give you there a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and pining of soul.

And among these H1992 nations H1471 shalt thou find no ease, H7280 (HiphImpf) neither shall the sole H3709 of thy foot H7272 have rest: H4494 but the Lord H3068 shall give H5414 (QalPerf) thee there a trembling H7268 heart, H3820 and failing H3631 of eyes, H5869 and sorrow H1671 of mind: H5315

αλλα και εν τοις εθνεσιν εκεινοις ουκ αναπαυσει σε ουδ ου μη γενηται στασις τω ιχνει του ποδος σου και δωσει σοι κυριος εκει καρδιαν αθυμουσαν και εκλειποντας οφθαλμους και τηκομενην ψυχην

Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will be afraid night and day, and will have no assurance of your life.

και εσται η ζωη σου κρεμαμενη απεναντι των οφθαλμων σου και φοβηθηση ημερας και νυκτος και ου πιστευσεις τη ζωη σου

that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he spoke to you and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

It shall happen, when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations where Yahweh your God has driven you,

And it shall come to pass, when all these things H1697 are come H935 (QalImpf) upon thee, the blessing H1293 and the curse, H7045 which I have set H5414 (QalPerf) before H6440 thee, and thou shalt call H7725 (HiphPerf) them to mind H3824 among all the nations, H1471 whither the Lord H3068 thy God H430 hath driven H5080 (HiphPerf) thee,

και εσται ως αν ελθωσιν επι σε παντα τα ρηματα ταυτα η ευλογια και η καταρα ην εδωκα προ προσωπου σου και δεξη εις την καρδιαν σου εν πασιν τοις εθνεσιν ου εαν σε διασκορπιση κυριος εκει

If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of the heavens, from there Yahweh your God will gather you, and from there he will bring you back.

If any of thine be driven out H5080 (NiphPtc) unto the outmost H7097 parts of heaven, H8064 from thence will the Lord H3068 thy God H430 gather H6908 (PielImpf) thee, and from thence will he fetch H3947 (QalImpf) thee:

εαν η η διασπορα σου απ ακρου του ουρανου εως ακρου του ουρανου εκειθεν συναξει σε κυριος ο θεος σου και εκειθεν λημψεται σε κυριος ο θεος σου

Yahweh himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged.”

και κυριος ο συμπορευομενος μετα σου ουκ ανησει σε ουδε μη εγκαταλιπη σε μη φοβου μηδε δειλια

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come on them; so that they will say in that day, ‘Haven’t these evils come on us because our God is not among us?’

και οργισθησομαι θυμω εις αυτους εν τη ημερα εκεινη και καταλειψω αυτους και αποστρεψω το προσωπον μου απ αυτων και εσται καταβρωμα και ευρησουσιν αυτον κακα πολλα και θλιψεις και ερει εν τη ημερα εκεινη διοτι ουκ εστιν κυριος ο θεος μου εν εμοι ευροσαν με τα κακα ταυτα

“Now therefore write this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel. Put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

It will happen, when many evils and troubles have come on them, that this song will testify before them as a witness; for it will not be forgotten out of the mouths of their descendants; for I know their ways and what they are doing today, before I have brought them into the land which I promised them.”

και αντικαταστησεται η ωδη αυτη κατα προσωπον μαρτυρουσα ου γαρ μη επιλησθη απο στοματος αυτων και απο στοματος του σπερματος αυτων εγω γαρ οιδα την πονηριαν αυτων οσα ποιουσιν ωδε σημερον προ του εισαγαγειν με αυτους εις την γην την αγαθην ην ωμοσα τοις πατρασιν αυτων

He commissioned Joshua the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and courageous; for you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore to them. I will be with you.”

“Take this book of the law, and put it by the side of the ark of Yahweh your God’s covenant, that it may be there for a witness against you.

λαβοντες το βιβλιον του νομου τουτου θησετε αυτο εκ πλαγιων της κιβωτου της διαθηκης κυριου του θεου υμων και εσται εκει εν σοι εις μαρτυριον

For I know your rebellion and your stiff neck. Behold, while I am yet alive with you today, you have been rebellious against Yahweh. How much more after my death?

οτι εγω επισταμαι τον ερεθισμον σου και τον τραχηλον σου τον σκληρον ετι γαρ εμου ζωντος μεθ υμων σημερον παραπικραινοντες ητε τα προς τον θεον πως ουχι και εσχατον του θανατου μου

which ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you! Let them be your protection.
