Therefore he poured the fierceness of his anger on him, and the strength of battle. It set him on fire all around, but he didn’t know. It burned him, but he didn’t take it to heart.”

Have you forgotten Yahweh your Maker, who stretched out the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth? Do you live in fear continually all day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he prepares to destroy? Where is the fury of the oppressor?

Awake, awake! Stand up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk from Yahweh’s hand the cup of his wrath. You have drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it.

εξεγειρου εξεγειρου αναστηθι ιερουσαλημ η πιουσα το ποτηριον του θυμου εκ χειρος κυριου το ποτηριον γαρ της πτωσεως το κονδυ του θυμου εξεπιες και εξεκενωσας

Your sons have fainted. They lie at the head of all the streets, like an antelope in a net. They are full of Yahweh’s wrath, the rebuke of your God.

οι υιοι σου οι απορουμενοι οι καθευδοντες επ ακρου πασης εξοδου ως σευτλιον ημιεφθον οι πληρεις θυμου κυριου εκλελυμενοι δια κυριου του θεου

Your Lord Yahweh, your God who pleads the cause of his people, says, “Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath. You will not drink it any more.

ουτως λεγει κυριος ο θεος ο κρινων τον λαον αυτου ιδου ειληφα εκ της χειρος σου το ποτηριον της πτωσεως το κονδυ του θυμου και ου προσθηση ετι πιειν αυτο

According to their deeds, he will repay as appropriate: wrath to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies. He will repay the islands their due.

“I have trodden the wine press alone. Of the peoples, no one was with me. Yes, I trod them in my anger and trampled them in my wrath. Their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and I have stained all my clothing.

πληρης καταπεπατημενης και των εθνων ουκ εστιν ανηρ μετ εμου και κατεπατησα αυτους εν θυμω και κατεθλασα αυτους ως γην και κατηγαγον το αιμα αυτων εις γην

I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold. Therefore my own arm brought salvation to me. My own wrath upheld me.

I trod down the peoples in my anger and made them drunk in my wrath. I poured their lifeblood out on the earth.”

For, behold, Yahweh will come with fire, and his chariots will be like the whirlwind; to render his anger with fierceness, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

Circumcise yourselves to Yahweh, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go out like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Therefore I am full of Yahweh’s wrath. I am weary with holding it in. “Pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife will be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, my anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, on man, on animal, on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground; and it will burn and will not be quenched.”

Pour out your wrath on the nations that don’t know you, and on the families that don’t call on your name; for they have devoured Jacob. Yes, they have devoured him, consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

εκχεον τον θυμον σου επι εθνη τα μη ειδοτα σε και επι γενεας αι το ονομα σου ουκ επεκαλεσαντο οτι κατεφαγον τον ιακωβ και εξανηλωσαν αυτον και την νομην αυτου ηρημωσαν

Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.

ει ανταποδιδοται αντι αγαθων κακα οτι συνελαλησαν ρηματα κατα της ψυχης μου και την κολασιν αυτων εκρυψαν μοι μνησθητι εστηκοτος μου κατα προσωπον σου του λαλησαι υπερ αυτων αγαθα του αποστρεψαι τον θυμον σου απ αυτων

I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation.

House of David, Yahweh says, ‘Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go out like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Behold, Yahweh’s storm, his wrath, has gone out. Yes, a whirling storm! It will burst on the head of the wicked.

For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says to me: “Take this cup of the wine of wrath from my hand, and cause all the nations to whom I send you to drink it.

^[32:13] οσα επροφητευσεν ιερεμιας επι παντα τα εθνη ^[32:15] ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ λαβε το ποτηριον του οινου του ακρατου τουτου εκ χειρος μου και ποτιεις παντα τα εθνη προς α εγω αποστελλω σε προς αυτους

Behold, Yahweh’s storm, his wrath, has gone out, a sweeping storm; it will burst on the head of the wicked.

For this city has been to me a provocation of my anger and of my wrath from the day that they built it even to this day, so that I should remove it from before my face,

“Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries where I have driven them in my anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again to this place. I will cause them to dwell safely.

It may be they will present their supplication before Yahweh, and will each return from his evil way; for Yahweh has pronounced great anger and wrath against this people.”

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you, when you enter into Egypt; and you will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you will see this place no more.’

^[49:18] οτι ουτως ειπεν κυριος καθως εσταξεν ο θυμος μου επι τους κατοικουντας ιερουσαλημ ουτως σταξει ο θυμος μου εφ υμας εισελθοντων υμων εις αιγυπτον και εσεσθε εις αβατον και υποχειριοι και εις αραν και εις ονειδισμον και ου μη ιδητε ουκετι τον τοπον τουτον

Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is today.’

Wherefore my fury H2534 and mine anger H639 was poured forth, H5413 (QalImpf) and was kindled H1197 (QalImpf) in the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem; H3389 and they are wasted H2723 [and] desolate, H8077 as at this day. H3117

^[51:6] και εσταξεν η οργη μου και ο θυμος μου και εξεκαυθη εν πολεσιν ιουδα και εξωθεν ιερουσαλημ και εγενηθησαν εις ερημωσιν και εις αβατον ως η ημερα αυτη

He has bent his bow like an enemy. He has stood with his right hand as an adversary. He has killed all that were pleasant to the eye. In the tent of the daughter of Zion, he has poured out his wrath like fire.

ενετεινεν τοξον αυτου ως εχθρος εστερεωσεν δεξιαν αυτου ως υπεναντιος και απεκτεινεν παντα τα επιθυμηματα οφθαλμων μου εν σκηνη θυγατρος σιων εξεχεεν ως πυρ τον θυμον αυτου

Yahweh has accomplished his wrath. He has poured out his fierce anger. He has kindled a fire in Zion, which has devoured its foundations.

The Lord H3068 hath accomplished H3615 (PielPerf) his fury; H2534 he hath poured out H8210 (QalPerf) his fierce H2740 anger, H639 and hath kindled H3341 (HiphImpf) a fire H784 in Zion, H6726 and it hath devoured H398 (QalImpf) the foundations H3247 thereof.

συνετελεσεν κυριος θυμον αυτου εξεχεεν θυμον οργης αυτου και ανηψεν πυρ εν σιων και κατεφαγεν τα θεμελια αυτης

So the Spirit lifted me up, and took me away; and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; and Yahweh’s hand was strong on me.

So the spirit H7307 lifted me up, H5375 (QalPerf) and took me away, H3947 (QalImpf) and I went H3212 (QalImpf) in bitterness, H4751 in the heat H2534 of my spirit; H7307 but the hand H3027 of the Lord H3068 was strong H2388 (QalPerf) upon me.

και το πνευμα εξηρεν με και ανελαβεν με και επορευθην εν ορμη του πνευματος μου και χειρ κυριου εγενετο επ εμε κραταια

“ ‘Thus my anger will be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I will be comforted. They will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath on them.

Thus shall mine anger H639 be accomplished, H3615 (QalPerf) and I will cause my fury H2534 to rest H5117 (HiphPerf) upon them, and I will be comforted: H5162 (HithPerf) and they shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I the Lord H3068 have spoken H1696 (PielPerf) [it] in my zeal, H7068 when I have accomplished H3615 (PielInf) my fury H2534 in them.

και συντελεσθησεται ο θυμος μου και η οργη μου επ αυτους και επιγνωση διοτι εγω κυριος λελαληκα εν ζηλω μου εν τω συντελεσαι με την οργην μου επ αυτους

So it will be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, to the nations that are around you, when I execute judgments on you in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes—I, Yahweh, have spoken it—

So it shall be a reproach H2781 and a taunt, H1422 an instruction H4148 and an astonishment H4923 unto the nations H1471 that [are] round about H5439 thee, when I shall execute H6213 (QalInf) judgments H8201 in thee in anger H639 and in fury H2534 and in furious H2534 rebukes. και εση στενακτη και δηλαιστη εν τοις εθνεσιν τοις κυκλω σου εν τω ποιησαι με εν σοι κριματα εν εκδικησει θυμου μου εγω κυριος λελαληκα

He who is far off will die of the pestilence. He who is near will fall by the sword. He who remains and is besieged will die by the famine. Thus I will accomplish my wrath on them.

He that is far off H7350 shall die H4191 (QalImpf) of the pestilence; H1698 and he that is near H7138 shall fall H5307 (QalImpf) by the sword; H2719 and he that remaineth H7604 (NiphPtc) and is besieged H5341 (QalPasPtc) shall die H4191 (QalImpf) by the famine: H7458 thus will I accomplish H3615 (PielPerf) my fury H2534 upon them.

ο εγγυς εν ρομφαια πεσειται ο δε μακραν εν θανατω τελευτησει και ο περιεχομενος εν λιμω συντελεσθησεται και συντελεσω την οργην μου επ αυτους

Now I will shortly pour out my wrath on you, and accomplish my anger against you, and will judge you according to your ways. I will bring on you all your abominations.

^[7:5] νυν εγγυθεν εκχεω την οργην μου επι σε και συντελεσω τον θυμον μου εν σοι και κρινω σε εν ταις οδοις σου και δωσω επι σε παντα τα βδελυγματα σου

Therefore I will also deal in wrath. My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. Though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them.”

Therefore will I also deal H6213 (QalImpf) in fury: H2534 mine eye H5869 shall not spare, H2347 (QalImpf) neither will I have pity: H2550 (QalImpf) and though they cry H7121 (QalPerf) in mine ears H241 with a loud H1419 voice, H6963 [yet] will I not hear H8085 (QalImpf) them.

και εγω ποιησω αυτοις μετα θυμου ου φεισεται ο οφθαλμος μου ουδε μη ελεησω

While they were killing, and I was left, I fell on my face, and cried, and said, “Ah Lord Yahweh! Will you destroy all the residue of Israel in your pouring out of your wrath on Jerusalem?”

And it came to pass, while they were slaying H5221 (HiphInf) them, and I was left, H7604 (NiphPtc) that I fell H5307 (QalImpf) upon my face, H6440 and cried, H2199 (QalImpf) and said, H559 (QalImpf) Ah H162 Lord H136 God! και εγενετο εν τω κοπτειν αυτους και πιπτω επι προσωπον μου και ανεβοησα και ειπα οιμμοι κυριε εξαλειφεις συ τους καταλοιπους του ισραηλ εν τω εκχεαι σε τον θυμον σου επι ιερουσαλημ

“ ‘Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath. There will be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.

δια τουτο ταδε λεγει κυριος και ρηξω πνοην εξαιρουσαν μετα θυμου και υετος κατακλυζων εν οργη μου εσται και τους λιθους τους πετροβολους εν θυμω επαξω εις συντελειαν

Thus I will accomplish my wrath on the wall, and on those who have plastered it with whitewash. I will tell you, ‘The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it—

“Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath on it in blood, to cut off from it man and animal—

η και θανατον επαποστειλω επι την γην εκεινην και εκχεω τον θυμον μου επ αυτην εν αιματι του εξολεθρευσαι εξ αυτης ανθρωπον και κτηνος

I will judge you as women who break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.

και εκδικησω σε εκδικησει μοιχαλιδος και εκχεουσης αιμα και θησω σε εν αιματι θυμου και ζηλου

So I will cause my wrath toward you to rest, and my jealousy will depart from you. I will be quiet, and will not be angry any more.

But it was plucked up in fury. It was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were broken off and withered. The fire consumed them.

“ ‘ “But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They didn’t walk in my statutes and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he shall live in them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, I will be king over you.

I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.

I will also strike my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.”

As they gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the middle of the furnace, to blow the fire on it, to melt it, so I will gather you in my anger and in my wrath, and I will lay you there and melt you.

καθως εισδεχεται αργυρος και χαλκος και σιδηρος και κασσιτερος και μολιβος εις μεσον καμινου του εκφυσησαι εις αυτο πυρ του χωνευθηναι ουτως εισδεξομαι υμας εν οργη μου και συναξω και χωνευσω υμας

As silver is melted in the middle of the furnace, so you will be melted in the middle of it; and you will know that I, Yahweh, have poured out my wrath on you.’ ”

As silver H3701 is melted H2046 in the midst H8432 of the furnace, H3564 so shall ye be melted H5413 (HophImpf) in the midst H8432 thereof; and ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I the Lord H3068 have poured out H8210 (QalPerf) my fury H2534 upon you.
