και ανεστησαν και ανεβησαν εις βαιθηλ και επηρωτησαν εν τω θεω και ειπαν οι υιοι ισραηλ τις αναβησεται ημιν αφηγουμενος πολεμησαι μετα βενιαμιν και ειπεν κυριος ιουδας αναβησεται αφηγουμενος

και ειπεν κυριος προς σαλωμων ανθ ων εγενετο ταυτα μετα σου και ουκ εφυλαξας τας εντολας μου και τα προσταγματα μου α ενετειλαμην σοι διαρρησσων διαρρηξω την βασιλειαν σου εκ χειρος σου και δωσω αυτην τω δουλω σου

και ροβοαμ εισηλθεν εις ιερουσαλημ και εξεκκλησιασεν την συναγωγην ιουδα και σκηπτρον βενιαμιν εκατον και εικοσι χιλιαδες νεανιων ποιουντων πολεμον του πολεμειν προς οικον ισραηλ επιστρεψαι την βασιλειαν ροβοαμ υιω σαλωμων

‘Yahweh says, “You shall not go up or fight against your brothers, the children of Israel. Everyone return to his house; for this thing is from me.” ’ ” So they listened to Yahweh’s word, and returned and went their way, according to Yahweh’s word.

ταδε λεγει κυριος ουκ αναβησεσθε ουδε πολεμησετε μετα των αδελφων υμων υιων ισραηλ αναστρεφετω εκαστος εις τον οικον εαυτου οτι παρ εμου γεγονεν το ρημα τουτο και ηκουσαν του λογου κυριου και κατεπαυσαν του πορευθηναι κατα το ρημα κυριου

και επορευθη μετα ιωραμ υιου αχααβ εις πολεμον μετα αζαηλ βασιλεως αλλοφυλων εν ρεμμωθ γαλααδ και επαταξαν οι συροι τον ιωραμ

They made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.

David was told that, so he gathered all Israel together, passed over the Jordan, came to them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

και απηγγελη τω δαυιδ και συνηγαγεν τον παντα ισραηλ και διεβη τον ιορδανην και ηλθεν επ αυτους και παρεταξατο επ αυτους και παρατασσεται συρος εξ εναντιας δαυιδ και επολεμησαν αυτον

Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe. Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons.

‘Yahweh says, “You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers! Every man return to his house; for this thing is of me.” ’ ” So they listened to Yahweh’s words, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you will not prosper.”

και ιδου μεθ ημων εν αρχη κυριος και οι ιερεις αυτου και αι σαλπιγγες της σημασιας του σημαινειν εφ υμας οι υιοι του ισραηλ πολεμησετε προς κυριον θεον των πατερων ημων οτι ουκ ευοδωθησεται υμιν

Asa cried to Yahweh his God, and said, “Yahweh, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, Yahweh our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. Yahweh, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”

The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

After this, the children of Moab, the children of Ammon, and with them some of the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

και μετα ταυτα ηλθον οι υιοι μωαβ και οι υιοι αμμων και μετ αυτων εκ των μιναιων προς ιωσαφατ εις πολεμον

and he said, “Yahweh, the God of our fathers, aren’t you God in heaven? Aren’t you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.

And said, H559 (QalImpf) O Lord H3068 God H430 of our fathers, H1 [art] not thou God H430 in heaven? H8064 and rulest H4910 (QalActPtc) [not] thou over all the kingdoms H4467 of the heathen? H1471 and in thine hand H3027 [is there not] power H3581 and might, H1369 so that none is able to withstand H3320 (HithInf) thee?

και ειπεν κυριε ο θεος των πατερων ημων ουχι συ ει θεος εν ουρανω και συ κυριευεις πασων των βασιλειων των εθνων και εν τη χειρι σου ισχυς δυναστειας και ουκ εστιν προς σε αντιστηναι

You will not need to fight this battle. Set yourselves, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Don’t be afraid, nor be dismayed. Go out against them tomorrow, for Yahweh is with you.’ ”

ουχ υμιν εστιν πολεμησαι ταυτα συνετε και ιδετε την σωτηριαν κυριου μεθ υμων ιουδα και ιερουσαλημ μη φοβεισθε μηδε πτοηθητε αυριον εξελθειν εις απαντησιν αυτοις και κυριος μεθ υμων

The fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries when they heard that Yahweh fought against the enemies of Israel.

And the fear H6343 of God H430 was on all the kingdoms H4467 of [those] countries, H776 when they had heard H8085 (QalInf) that the Lord H3068 fought H3898 (NiphPerf) against the enemies H341 (QalActPtc) of Israel. H3478

και εγενετο εκστασις κυριου επι πασας τας βασιλειας της γης εν τω ακουσαι αυτους οτι επολεμησεν κυριος προς τους υπεναντιους ισραηλ

In process of time, at the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of severe diseases. His people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

And it came to pass, that in process of time, H3117 after H3318 (QalInf) H6256 the end H7093 of two H8147 years, H3117 his bowels H4578 fell out H3318 (QalPerf) by reason H5973 of his sickness: H2483 so he died H4191 (QalImpf) of sore H7451 diseases. και εγενετο εξ ημερων εις ημερας και ως ηλθεν καιρος των ημερων ημερας δυο εξηλθεν η κοιλια αυτου μετα της νοσου και απεθανεν εν μαλακια πονηρα και ουκ εποιησεν ο λαος αυτου εκφοραν καθως εκφοραν πατερων αυτου

After this, Joash intended to restore Yahweh’s house.

And it came to pass after H310 this, [that] Joash H3101 was minded H3820 to repair H2318 (PielInf) the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

και εγενετο μετα ταυτα και εγενετο επι καρδιαν ιωας επισκευασαι τον οικον κυριου

They buried him in David’s city among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.

Now you intend to degrade the children of Judah and Jerusalem as male and female slaves for yourselves. Aren’t there even with you trespasses of your own against Yahweh your God?

And now ye purpose H559 (QalActPtc) to keep under H3533 (QalInf) the children H1121 of Judah H3063 and Jerusalem H3389 for bondmen H5650 and bondwomen H8198 unto you: [but are there] not with you, even H7535 with you, sins H819 against the Lord H3068 your God? H430

και νυν υιους ιουδα και ιερουσαλημ υμεις λεγετε κατακτησεσθαι εις δουλους και δουλας ουκ ιδου ειμι μεθ υμων μαρτυρησαι κυριω θεω υμων
