Moreover, Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has played the prostitute there.

H6213 (QalPerf) she is gone up H1980 (QalActPtc) upon every high H1364 mountain H2022 and under H8478 every green H7488 tree, H6086 and there hath played the harlot. H2181 (QalImpf)

And Jehovah saith unto me, in the days of Josiah the king, ‘Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? She is going on every high mountain, and unto the place of every green tree, and committeth fornication there.

I said after she had done all these things, ‘She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

And I said H559 (QalImpf) after H310 she had done H6213 (QalInf) all these [things], Turn H7725 (QalImpf) thou unto me. But she returned H7725 (QalPerf) not. And her treacherous H901 sister H269 Judah H3063 saw H7200 (QalImpf) [it].

And I say, after her doing all these, Unto Me thou dost turn back, and she hath not turned back, and see it doth her treacherous sister Judah.

I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear, but she also went and played the prostitute.

And I saw, H7200 (QalImpf) when for all the causes H182 whereby backsliding H4878 Israel H3478 committed adultery H5003 (PielPerf) I had put her away, H7971 (PielPerf) and given H5414 (QalImpf) her a bill H5612 of divorce; H3748 yet her treacherous H898 (QalActPtc) sister H269 Judah H3063 feared H3372 (QalPerf) not, but went H3212 (QalImpf) and played the harlot H2181 (QalImpf) also.

And I see when (for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery) I have sent her away, and I give the bill of her divorce unto her, that treacherous Judah her sister hath not feared, and goeth and committeth fornication-she also.

How long will I see the standard and hear the sound of the trumpet?

How long shall I see H7200 (QalImpf) the standard, H5251 [and] hear H8085 (QalImpf) the sound H6963 of the trumpet? H7782

Till when do I see an ensign? Do I hear the voice of a trumpet?

I saw the earth and, behold, it was waste and void, and the heavens, and they had no light.

I beheld H7200 (QalPerf) the earth, H776 and, lo, [it was] without form, H8414 and void; H922 and the heavens, H8064 and they [had] no light. H216

I looked to the land, and lo, waste and void, And unto the heavens, and their light is not.

I saw the mountains, and behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth.

I have looked, and lo, man is not, And all fowls of the heavens have fled.

I saw, and behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all its cities were broken down at the presence of Yahweh, before his fierce anger.

“Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its wide places, if you can find a man, if there is anyone who does justly, who seeks truth, then I will pardon her.

Go to and fro in streets of Jerusalem, And see, I pray you, and know, And seek in her broad places, if ye find a man, If there be one doing judgment, seeking stedfastness- Then am I propitious to her.

They have denied Yahweh, and said, “It is not he. Evil won’t come on us. We won’t see sword or famine.

They have belied H3584 (PielPerf) the Lord, H3068 and said, H559 (QalImpf) [It is] not he; neither shall evil H7451 come H935 (QalImpf) upon us; neither shall we see H7200 (QalImpf) sword H2719 nor famine: H7458

They have lied against Jehovah, And they say, ‘It is not He, Nor come in against us doth evil, Yea, sword and famine we do not see.

‘Hear this now, foolish people without understanding, who have eyes, and don’t see, who have ears, and don’t hear:

Hear H8085 (QalImpv) now this, O foolish H5530 people, H5971 and without understanding; H3820 which have eyes, H5869 and see H7200 (QalImpf) not; which have ears, H241 and hear H8085 (QalImpf) not:

Hear ye, I pray you, this, O people, foolish and without heart, Eyes they have, and they see not, Ears they have, and they hear not.

Yahweh says, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, ‘Where is the good way?’ and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Stand H5975 (QalImpv) ye in the ways, H1870 and see, H7200 (QalImpf) and ask H7592 (QalImpv) for the old H5769 paths, H5410 where [is] the good H2896 way, H1870 and walk H3212 (QalImpf) therein, and ye shall find H4672 (QalImpv) rest H4771 for your souls. Thus said Jehovah: Stand ye by the ways and see, and ask for paths of old, Where is this-the good way? and go ye in it, And find rest for yourselves. And they say, ‘We do not go.’

Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it,” says Yahweh.

Is this house, H1004 which is called H7121 (NiphPerf) by my name, H8034 become a den H4631 of robbers H6530 in your eyes? H5869 Behold, even I have seen H7200 (QalPerf) [it], saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord. H3068

A den of burglars hath this house, On which My name is called, been in your eyes? Even I, lo, I have seen, an affirmation of Jehovah.

“But go now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

But go H3212 (QalImpv) ye now unto my place H4725 which [was] in Shiloh, H7887 where I set H7931 (PielPerf) my name H8034 at the first, H7223 and see H7200 (QalImpv) what I did H6213 (QalPerf) to it for H6440 the wickedness H7451 of my people H5971 Israel. H3478

But go ye, I pray you, Unto My place that is in Shiloh, Where I caused My name to dwell at first, And see that which I have done to it, For the wickedness of My people Israel.

Don’t you see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Seest H7200 (QalActPtc) thou not what they do H6213 (QalActPtc) in the cities H5892 of Judah H3063 and in the streets H2351 of Jerusalem? H3389

Art thou not seeing what they are doing In cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem?

Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it. Then you showed me their doings.

And the Lord H3068 hath given me knowledge H3045 (QalImpf) [of it], and I know H3045 (HiphPerf) [it]: then thou shewedst H7200 (HiphPerf) me their doings. H4611

And, O Jehovah, cause me to know, and I know, Then Thou hast showed me their doings.

But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I will see your vengeance on them; for to you I have revealed my cause.

But, O Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 that judgest H8199 (QalActPtc) righteously, H6664 that triest H974 (QalActPtc) the reins H3629 and the heart, H3820 let me see H7200 (QalImpf) thy vengeance H5360 on them: for unto thee have I revealed H1540 (PielPerf) my cause. H7379

And O Jehovah of Hosts, judging righteousness, Trying reins and heart, I do see Thy vengeance against them, For unto Thee I have revealed my cause.’

But you, Yahweh, know me. You see me, and test my heart toward you. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

But thou, O Lord, H3068 knowest H3045 (QalPerf) me: thou hast seen H7200 (QalImpf) me, and tried H974 (QalPerf) mine heart H3820 toward thee: pull them out H5423 (HiphImpv) like sheep H6629 for the slaughter, H2878 and prepare H6942 (HiphImpv) them for the day H3117 of slaughter. H2028

And Thou, O Jehovah, Thou hast known me, Thou seest me, and hast tried my heart with Thee, Draw them away as sheep to slaughter, And separate them for a day of slaughter.

How long will the land mourn, and the herbs of the whole country wither? Because of the wickedness of those who dwell therein, the animals and birds are consumed; because they said, “He won’t see our latter end.”

How long shall the land H776 mourn, H56 (QalImpf) and the herbs H6212 of every field H7704 wither, H3001 (QalImpf) for the wickedness H7451 of them that dwell H3427 (QalActPtc) therein? the beasts H929 are consumed, H5595 (QalPerf) and the birds; H5775 because they said, H559 (QalPerf) He shall not see H7200 (QalImpf) our last end. Till when doth the earth mourn, And the herb of the whole field wither? For the wickedness of those dwelling in it, Consumed have been beast and fowl, Because they said, ‘He doth not see our latter end.’

Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, your beautiful flock?

Lift up H5375 (QalImpv) your eyes, H5869 and behold H7200 (QalImpv) them that come H935 (QalActPtc) from the north: H6828 where [is] the flock H5739 [that] was given H5414 (NiphPerf) thee, thy beautiful H8597 flock? H6629

Lift up your eyes, and see those coming in from the north, Where is the drove given to thee, thy beautiful flock?

Therefore I will also uncover your skirts on your face, and your shame will appear.

Therefore will I discover H2834 (QalPerf) thy skirts H7757 upon thy face, H6440 that thy shame H7036 may appear. H7200 (NiphPerf)

I also have made bare thy skirts before thy face, And thy shame hath been seen.

I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! You will not be made clean. How long will it yet be?”

I have seen H7200 (QalPerf) thine adulteries, H5004 and thy neighings, H4684 the lewdness H2154 of thy whoredom, H2184 [and] thine abominations H8251 on the hills H1389 in the fields. H7704 Woe H188 unto thee, O Jerusalem! H3389 wilt thou not be made clean? H2891 (QalImpf) when [shall it] once H5750 H310 [be]?

Thine adulteries, and thy neighings, The wickedness of thy whoredom, on heights in a field, I have seen thine abominations. Woe to thee, O Jerusalem, Thou art not cleansed, after when is it again?

Then I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’ ”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) I, Ah, H162 Lord H136 God! H3069 behold, the prophets H5030 say H559 (QalActPtc) unto them, Ye shall not see H7200 (QalImpf) the sword, H2719 neither shall ye have famine; H7458 but I will give H5414 (QalImpf) you assured H571 peace H7965 in this place. H4725

And I say, ‘Ah, Lord Jehovah, Lo, the prophets are saying to them: Ye do not see a sword, yea, famine is not to you, For true peace I give to you in this place.’

For he will be like a bush in the desert, and will not see when good comes, but will inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, an uninhabited salt land.

For he shall be like the heath H6199 in the desert, H6160 and shall not see H7200 (QalImpf) when good H2896 cometh; H935 (QalImpf) but shall inhabit H7931 (QalPerf) the parched places H2788 in the wilderness, H4057 [in] a salt H4420 land H776 and not inhabited. H3427 (QalImpf)

And he hath been as a naked thing in a desert, And doth not see when good cometh, And hath inhabited parched places in a wilderness, A salt land, and not inhabited.

For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit.

For he shall be as a tree H6086 planted H8362 (QalPasPtc) by the waters, H4325 and [that] spreadeth out H7971 (PielImpf) her roots H8328 by the river, H3105 and shall not see H7200 (QalImpf) when heat H2527 cometh, H935 (QalImpf) but her leaf H5929 shall be green; H7488 and shall not be careful H1672 (QalImpf) in the year H8141 of drought, H1226 neither shall cease H4185 (HiphImpf) from yielding H6213 (QalInf) fruit. And hath been as a tree planted by waters, And by a rivulet he sendeth forth his roots, And he doth not see when heat cometh, And his leaf hath been green, And in a year of dearth he is not sorrowful, Nor doth he cease from making fruit.

I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy. I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

As an east wind I scatter them before an enemy, The neck, and not the face, I shew them, In the day of their calamity.’

For Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Behold, I will make H5414 (QalActPtc) thee a terror H4032 to thyself, and to all thy friends: H157 (QalActPtc) and they shall fall H5307 (QalPerf) by the sword H2719 of their enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) and thine eyes H5869 shall behold H7200 (QalActPtc) [it]: and I will give H5414 (QalImpf) all Judah H3063 into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall carry them captive H1540 (HiphPerf) into Babylon, H894 and shall slay H5221 (HiphPerf) them with the sword. For thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am making thee for a fear to thyself, And to all loving thee, And they have fallen by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes are beholding, And all Judah I give into the hand of the king of Babylon, And he hath removed them to Babylon, And he hath smitten them with the sword.

But Yahweh of Armies, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.

But, O Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 that triest H974 (QalActPtc) the righteous, H6662 [and] seest H7200 (QalActPtc) the reins H3629 and the heart, H3820 let me see H7200 (QalImpf) thy vengeance H5360 on them: for unto thee have I opened H1540 (PielPerf) my cause. H7379

And, O Jehovah of Hosts, trier of the righteous, Beholder of reins and heart, I do see Thy vengeance out of them, For unto Thee I have revealed my cause.

Why did I come out of the womb to see labor and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

Wherefore came I forth H3318 (QalPerf) out of the womb H7358 to see H7200 (QalInf) labour H5999 and sorrow, H3015 that my days H3117 should be consumed H3615 (QalImpf) with shame? H1322

Why is this? from the womb I have come out, To see labour and sorrow, Yea, consumed in shame are my days!

Don’t weep for the dead. Don’t bemoan him; but weep bitterly for him who goes away, for he will return no more, and not see his native country.

Weep H1058 (QalImpf) ye not for the dead, H4191 (QalPtc) neither bemoan H5110 (QalImpf) him: [but] weep H1058 (QalImpv) sore H1058 (QalInf) for him that goeth away: H1980 (QalActPtc) for he shall return H7725 (QalImpf) no more, nor see H7200 (QalPerf) his native H4138 country. H776

Ye do not weep for the dead, nor bemoan for him, Weep ye sore for the traveller, For he doth not return again, Nor hath he seen the land of his birth.

But he will die in the place where they have led him captive. He will see this land no more.”

But he shall die H4191 (QalImpf) in the place H4725 whither they have led him captive, H1540 (HiphPerf) and shall see H7200 (QalImpf) this land H776 no more.

For in the place whither they have removed him he dieth, And this land he doth not see again.

“I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria. They prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

And I have seen H7200 (QalPerf) folly H8604 in the prophets H5030 of Samaria; H8111 they prophesied H5012 (HithPerf) in Baal, H1168 and caused my people H5971 Israel H3478 to err. H8582 (HiphImpf)

And in prophets of Samaria I have seen folly, They have prophesied by Baal, And cause my people-Israel-to err.

In the prophets of Jerusalem I have also seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness. They have all become to me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.”

And in prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing, Committing adultery, and walking falsely, Yea, they strengthened the hands of evil doers, So that they have not turned back Each from his wickedness, They have been to me-all of them-as Sodom, And its inhabitants as Gomorrah.

For who has stood in the council of Yahweh, that he should perceive and hear his word? Who has listened to my word, and heard it?

For who hath stood H5975 (QalPerf) in the counsel H5475 of the Lord, H3068 and hath perceived H7200 (QalImpf) and heard H8085 (QalImpf) his word? H1697 who hath marked H7181 (HiphPerf) his word, H1697 and heard H8085 (QalImpf) [it]?

For who hath stood in the counsel of Jehovah, And seeth and heareth His word? Who hath regarded My word, and hearkeneth?

Can anyone hide himself in secret places so that I can’t see him?” says Yahweh. “Don’t I fill heaven and earth?” says Yahweh.

Can any H376 hide H5641 (NiphImpf) himself in secret places H4565 that I shall not see H7200 (QalImpf) him? saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord. H3068 Do not I fill H4392 heaven H8064 and earth? H776 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord. H3068

Is any one hidden in secret places, And I see him not? an affirmation of Jehovah, Do not I fill the heavens and the earth? An affirmation of Jehovah.

Yahweh showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs were set before Yahweh’s temple, after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

Jehovah hath shewed me, and lo, two baskets of figs, appointed before the temple of Jehovah,-after the removing by Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, of Jeconiah, son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the heads of Judah, and the artisan, and the smith, from Jerusalem, when he bringeth them into Babylon-

Then Yahweh asked me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I said, “Figs. The good figs are very good, and the bad are very bad, so bad that they can’t be eaten.”

And Jehovah saith unto me, ‘What art thou seeing, Jeremiah?’ and I say, ‘Figs, the good figs are very good, and the bad are very bad, that are not eaten for badness.’

therefore Yahweh says, “Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his offspring. He will not have a man to dwell among this people. He won’t see the good that I will do to my people,” says Yahweh, “because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh.” ’ ”

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I will punish H6485 (QalActPtc) Shemaiah H8098 the Nehelamite, H5161 and his seed: H2233 he shall not have a man H376 to dwell H3427 (QalActPtc) among H8432 this people; H5971 neither shall he behold H7200 (QalImpf) the good H2896 that I will do H6213 (QalActPtc) for my people, H5971 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord; H3068 because he hath taught H1696 (PielPerf) rebellion H5627 against the Lord. H3068

Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am seeing after Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and after his seed, he hath none dwelling in the midst of this people, nor doth he look on the good that I am doing to My people-an affirmation of Jehovah-for apostasy he hath spoken against Jehovah.’

Ask now, and see whether a man travails with child. Why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned pale?

Ask H7592 (QalImpv) ye now, and see H7200 (QalImpv) whether a man H2145 doth travail with child? H3205 (QalActPtc) wherefore do I see H7200 (QalPerf) every man H1397 with his hands H3027 on his loins, H2504 as a woman in travail, H3205 (QalActPtc) and all faces H6440 are turned H2015 (NiphPerf) into paleness? H3420

Ask, I pray you, and see, is a male bringing forth? Wherefore have I seen every man, His hands on his loins, as a travailing woman, And all faces have been turned to paleness?

Yahweh appeared of old to me, saying, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore I have drawn you with loving kindness.

The Lord H3068 hath appeared H7200 (NiphPerf) of old H7350 unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved H157 (QalPerf) thee with an everlasting H5769 love: H160 therefore with lovingkindness H2617 have I drawn H4900 (QalPerf) thee.

From afar Jehovah hath appeared to me, With love age-during I have loved thee, Therefore I have drawn thee with kindness.

On this I awakened, and saw; and my sleep was sweet to me.

On this I have awaked, and I behold, and my sleep hath been sweet to me.

and Zedekiah king of Judah won’t escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but will surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes will see his eyes;

And Zedekiah king of Judah doth not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but is certainly given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and his mouth hath spoken with his mouth, and his eyes see his eyes,

“Behold, siege ramps have been built against the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Behold, you see it.

Behold the mounts, H5550 they are come H935 (QalPerf) unto the city H5892 to take H3920 (QalInf) it; and the city H5892 is given H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 that fight H3898 (NiphPtc) against it, because H6440 of the sword, H2719 and of the famine, H7458 and of the pestilence: H1698 and what thou hast spoken H1696 (PielPerf) is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest H7200 (QalActPtc) [it].

‘Lo, the mounts-they have come in to the city to capture it, and the city hath been given into the hand of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it, because of the sword, and the famine, and the pestilence; and that which Thou hast spoken hath come to pass, and lo, Thou art seeing;

“Don’t consider what this people has spoken, saying, ‘Has Yahweh cast off the two families which he chose?’ Thus they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.”

‘Hast thou not considered what this people have spoken, saying: The two families on which Jehovah fixed, He doth reject them, And my people they despise- So that they are no more a people before them!

You won’t escape out of his hand, but will surely be taken and delivered into his hand. Your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he will speak with you mouth to mouth. You will go to Babylon.” ’

And thou shalt not escape out H4422 (NiphImpf) of his hand, H3027 but shalt surely H8610 (QalInf) be taken, H8610 (NiphImpf) and delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into his hand; H3027 and thine eyes H5869 shall behold H7200 (QalImpf) the eyes H5869 of the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall speak H1696 (PielImpf) with thee mouth H6310 to mouth, H6310 and thou shalt go H935 (QalImpf) to Babylon. and thou, thou dost not escape out of his hand, for thou art certainly caught, and into his hand thou art given, and thine eyes see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and his mouth with thy mouth speaketh, and Babylon thou enterest.

But if you refuse to go out, this is the word that Yahweh has shown me:

When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled and went out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.

And it cometh to pass, when Zedekiah king of Judah, and all the men of war, have seen them, that they flee and go forth by night from the city, the way of the king’s garden, through the gate between the two walls, and he goeth forth the way of the plain.

Now, behold, I release you today from the chains which are on your hand. If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you; but if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, don’t. Behold, all the land is before you. Where it seems good and right to you to go, go there.”

‘And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that are on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land is before thee, whither it be good, and whither it be right in thine eyes to go-go.’-

Now when all the people who were with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were with him, then they were glad.

and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please let our supplication be presented before you, and pray for us to Yahweh your God, even for all this remnant, for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes see us,
