και ως συνετελεσθη παντα ταυτα εξηλθεν πας ισραηλ οι ευρεθεντες εν πολεσιν ιουδα και συνετριψαν τας στηλας και εξεκοψαν τα αλση και κατεσπασαν τα υψηλα και τους βωμους απο πασης της ιουδαιας και βενιαμιν και εξ εφραιμ και απο μανασση εως εις τελος και επεστρεψαν πας ισραηλ εκαστος εις την κληρονομιαν αυτου και εις τας πολεις αυτων

He also appointed the king’s portion of his possessions for the burnt offerings: for the morning and evening burnt offerings, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, for the new moons, and for the set feasts, as it is written in Yahweh’s law.

He appointed also the king’s H4428 portion H4521 of his substance H7399 for the burnt offerings, H5930 to wit, for the morning H1242 and evening H6153 burnt offerings, H5930 and the burnt offerings H5930 for the sabbaths, H7676 and for the new moons, H2320 and for the set feasts, H4150 as it is written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the law H8451 of the Lord. και μερις του βασιλεως εκ των υπαρχοντων αυτου εις τας ολοκαυτωσεις την πρωινην και την δειλινην και ολοκαυτωσεις εις σαββατα και εις τας νουμηνιας και εις τας εορτας τας γεγραμμενας εν τω νομω κυριου

Azariah the chief priest, of the house of Zadok, answered him and said, “Since people began to bring the offerings into Yahweh’s house, we have eaten and had enough, and have plenty left over, for Yahweh has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.”

και ειπεν προς αυτον αζαριας ο ιερευς ο αρχων εις οικον σαδωκ και ειπεν εξ ου ηρκται η απαρχη φερεσθαι εις οικον κυριου εφαγομεν και επιομεν και κατελιπομεν οτι κυριος ηυλογησεν τον λαον αυτου και κατελιπομεν ετι το πληθος τουτο

Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the hand of Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of Hezekiah the king and Azariah the ruler of God’s house.

And Jehiel, H3171 and Azaziah, H5812 and Nahath, H5184 and Asahel, H6214 and Jerimoth, H3406 and Jozabad, H3107 and Eliel, H447 and Ismachiah, H3253 and Mahath, H4287 and Benaiah, H1141 were overseers H6496 under the hand^§ H3027 of Cononiah H3562 and Shimei H8096 his brother, H251 at the commandment H4662 of Hezekiah H3169 the king, H4428 and Azariah H5838 the ruler H5057 of the house H1004 of God. 2 Chronicles 31:13 Heb. at the hand

και ιιηλ και οζαζιας και ναεθ και ασαηλ και ιεριμωθ και ιωζαβαθ και ελιηλ και σαμαχια και μααθ και βαναιας και οι υιοι αυτου καθεσταμενοι δια χωνενιου και σεμει του αδελφου αυτου καθως προσεταξεν ο βασιλευς εζεκιας και αζαριας ο ηγουμενος οικου κυριου

in addition to those who were listed by genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even everyone who entered into Yahweh’s house, as the duty of every day required, for their service in their offices according to their divisions;

εκτος της επιγονης των αρσενικων απο τριετους και επανω παντι τω εισπορευομενω εις οικον κυριου εις λογον ημερων εις ημεραν εις λειτουργιαν εφημεριαις διαταξεως αυτων

he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city, and they helped him.

και εβουλευσατο μετα των πρεσβυτερων αυτου και των δυνατων εμφραξαι τα υδατα των πηγων α ην εξω της πολεως και συνεπισχυσαν αυτω

“Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater one with us than with him.

Be strong H2388 (QalImpv) and courageous, H553 (QalImpv) be not afraid H3372 (QalImpf) nor dismayed H2865 (NiphImpf) for H6440 the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 nor for all the multitude H1995 that is with him: for there be more H7227 with us than with him:

ισχυσατε και ανδριζεσθε μη πτοηθητε απο προσωπου βασιλεως ασσουρ και απο προσωπου παντος του εθνους του μετ αυτου οτι μεθ ημων πλειονες η μετ αυτου

Yahweh sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, the leaders, and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came out of his own body° killed him there with the sword.

2 Chronicles 32:21 I.e., his own sons

And the Lord H3068 sent H7971 (QalImpf) an angel, H4397 which cut off H3582 (HiphImpf) all the mighty men H1368 of valour, H2428 and the leaders H5057 and captains H8269 in the camp H4264 of the king H4428 of Assyria. H804 So he returned H7725 (QalImpf) with shame H1322 of face H6440 to his own land. 2 Chronicles 32:21 Heb. made him fall

και απεστειλεν κυριος αγγελον και εξετριψεν παν δυνατον πολεμιστην και αρχοντα και στρατηγον εν τη παρεμβολη βασιλεως ασσουρ και απεστρεψεν μετα αισχυνης προσωπου εις την γην αυτου και ηλθεν εις οικον του θεου αυτου και των εξελθοντων εκ κοιλιας αυτου κατεβαλον αυτον εν ρομφαια

Many brought gifts to Yahweh to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from then on.

And many H7227 brought H935 (HiphPtc) gifts H4503 unto the Lord H3068 to Jerusalem, H3389 and presents^§ H4030 to Hezekiah H3169 king H4428 of Judah: H3063 so that he was magnified H5375 (NiphImpf) in the sight H5869 of all nations H1471 from thenceforth. H310

2 Chronicles 32:23 Heb. precious things

και πολλοι εφερον δωρα τω κυριω εις ιερουσαλημ και δοματα τω εζεκια βασιλει ιουδα και υπερηρθη κατ οφθαλμους παντων των εθνων μετα ταυτα

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, after the abominations of the nations whom Yahweh cast out before the children of Israel.

but did H6213 (QalImpf) that which was evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the Lord, H3068 like unto the abominations H8441 of the heathen, H1471 whom the Lord H3068 had cast out H3423 (HiphPerf) before H6440 the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

και εποιησεν το πονηρον εναντιον κυριου απο παντων των βδελυγματων των εθνων ους εξωλεθρευσεν κυριος απο προσωπου των υιων ισραηλ

Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that they did more evil than did the nations whom Yahweh destroyed before the children of Israel.

So Manasseh H4519 made H8582 Judah H3063 and the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem H3389 to err, H8582 (HiphImpf) and to do H6213 (QalInf) worse H7451 than the heathen, H1471 whom the Lord H3068 had destroyed H8045 (HiphPerf) before H6440 the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

και επλανησεν μανασσης τον ιουδαν και τους κατοικουντας εν ιερουσαλημ του ποιησαι το πονηρον υπερ παντα τα εθνη α εξηρεν κυριος απο προσωπου υιων ισραηλ

When he was in distress, he begged Yahweh his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

And when he was in affliction, H6887 (HiphInf) he besought H2470 (PielPerf) the Lord H3068 his God, H430 and humbled H3665 (NiphImpf) himself greatly H3966 before H6440 the God H430 of his fathers, H1

και ως εθλιβη εζητησεν το προσωπον κυριου του θεου αυτου και εταπεινωθη σφοδρα απο προσωπου θεου των πατερων αυτου

He didn’t humble himself before Yahweh, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but this same Amon trespassed more and more.

και ουκ εταπεινωθη εναντιον κυριου ως εταπεινωθη μανασσης ο πατηρ αυτου οτι υιος αυτου αμων επληθυνεν πλημμελειαν

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, the Asherah poles, the engraved images, and the molten images.

και εν τω ογδοω ετει της βασιλειας αυτου και αυτος ετι παιδαριον ηρξατο του ζητησαι κυριον τον θεον δαυιδ του πατρος αυτου και εν τω δωδεκατω ετει της βασιλειας αυτου ηρξατο του καθαρισαι τον ιουδαν και την ιερουσαλημ απο των υψηλων και των αλσεων και απο των χωνευτων

The men did the work faithfully. Their overseers were Jahath and Obadiah the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to give direction; and others of the Levites, who were all skillful with musical instruments.

και οι ανδρες εν πιστει επι των εργων και επ αυτων επισκοποι ιεθ και αβδιας οι λευιται εξ υιων μεραρι και ζαχαριας και μοσολλαμ εκ των υιων κααθ επισκοπειν και πας λευιτης πας συνιων εν οργανοις ωδων

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and against its inhabitants, and have humbled yourself before me, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you,” says Yahweh.

και ενετραπη η καρδια σου και εταπεινωθης απο προσωπου μου εν τω ακουσαι σε τους λογους μου επι τον τοπον τουτον και επι τους κατοικουντας αυτον και εταπεινωθης εναντιον μου και διερρηξας τα ιματια σου και εκλαυσας κατεναντιον μου και εγω ηκουσα φησιν κυριος

There was no Passover like that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet, nor did any of the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as Josiah kept—with the priests, the Levites, and all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

And there was no passover H6453 like H3644 to that kept H6213 (NiphPerf) in Israel H3478 from the days H3117 of Samuel H8050 the prophet; H5030 neither did H6213 (QalPerf) all the kings H4428 of Israel H3478 keep H6213 (QalPerf) such a passover H6453 as Josiah H2977 kept, H6213 (QalPerf) and the priests, H3548 and the Levites, H3881 and all Judah H3063 and Israel H3478 that were present,^§ H4672 (NiphPtc) and the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem. 2 Chronicles 35:18 Heb. found

και ουκ εγενετο φασεχ ομοιον αυτω εν ισραηλ απο ημερων σαμουηλ του προφητου και παντες βασιλεις ισραηλ ουκ εποιησαν ως το φασεχ ο εποιησεν ιωσιας και οι ιερεις και οι λευιται και πας ιουδα και ισραηλ ο ευρεθεις και οι κατοικουντες εν ιερουσαλημ τω κυριω

Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and didn’t listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

και ουκ απεστρεψεν ιωσιας το προσωπον αυτου απ αυτου αλλ η πολεμειν αυτον εκραταιωθη και ουκ ηκουσεν των λογων νεχαω δια στοματος θεου και ηλθεν του πολεμησαι εν τω πεδιω μαγεδων

So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

He did that which was evil in Yahweh his God’s sight. He didn’t humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from Yahweh’s mouth.

And he did H6213 (QalImpf) that which was evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the Lord H3068 his God, H430 and humbled H3665 (NiphPerf) not himself before H6440 Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 speaking from the mouth H6310 of the Lord. H3068

και εποιησεν το πονηρον ενωπιον κυριου θεου αυτου ουκ ενετραπη απο προσωπου ιερεμιου του προφητου και εκ στοματος κυριου

He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God; but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart against turning to Yahweh, the God of Israel.

εν τω τα προς τον βασιλεα ναβουχοδονοσορ αθετησαι α ωρκισεν αυτον κατα του θεου και εσκληρυνεν τον τραχηλον αυτου και την καρδιαν αυτου κατισχυσεν του μη επιστρεψαι προς κυριον θεον ισραηλ

He carried those who had escaped from the sword away to Babylon, and they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia,
