King David said, “Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king.

Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and fell on him, and killed him; and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.

Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Bring her out between the ranks. Kill anyone who follows her with the sword.” For the priest said, “Don’t let her be slain in Yahweh’s house.”

Jehoiada made a covenant between Yahweh and the king and the people, that they should be Yahweh’s people; also between the king and the people.

Jehoash did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes all his days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. They each took his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath, with those who were to go out on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priest didn’t dismiss the shift.

Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears, bucklers, and shields that had been king David’s, which were in God’s house.

Then they brought out the king’s son, put the crown on him, gave him the covenant, and made him king. Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and they said, “Long live the king!”

και εξηγαγεν τον υιον του βασιλεως και εδωκεν επ αυτον το βασιλειον και τα μαρτυρια και εβασιλευσαν και εχρισαν αυτον ιωδαε και οι υιοι αυτου και ειπαν ζητω ο βασιλευς

Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, “Bring her out between the ranks; and whoever follows her, let him be slain with the sword.” For the priest said, “Don’t kill her in Yahweh’s house.”

Then Jehoiada H3077 the priest H3548 brought out H3318 (HiphImpf) the captains H8269 of hundreds H3967 that were set over H6485 (QalPasPtc) the host, H2428 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Have her forth H3318 (HiphImpv) of the ranges: H1004 H7713 and whoso followeth H935 (QalActPtc) H310 her, let him be slain H4191 (HophImpf) with the sword. και εξηλθεν ιωδαε ο ιερευς και ενετειλατο ιωδαε ο ιερευς τοις εκατονταρχοις και τοις αρχηγοις της δυναμεως και ειπεν αυτοις εκβαλετε αυτην εκτος του οικου και εισελθατε οπισω αυτης και αποθανετω μαχαιρα οτι ειπεν ο ιερευς μη αποθανετω εν οικω κυριου

Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, all the people, and the king, that they should be Yahweh’s people.

And Jehoiada H3077 made H3772 (QalImpf) a covenant H1285 between him, and between all the people, H5971 and between the king, H4428 that they should be the Lord’s H3068 people. H5971

και διεθετο ιωδαε διαθηκην ανα μεσον αυτου και του λαου και του βασιλεως ειναι λαον τω κυριω

Jehoiada appointed the officers of Yahweh’s house under the hand of the Levitical priests, whom David had distributed in Yahweh’s house, to offer the burnt offerings of Yahweh, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as David had ordered.

Also Jehoiada H3077 appointed H7760 (QalImpf) the offices H6486 of the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 by the hand H3027 of the priests H3548 the Levites, H3881 whom David H1732 had distributed H2505 (QalPerf) in the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 to offer H5927 (HiphInf) the burnt offerings H5930 of the Lord, H3068 as it is written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the law H8451 of Moses, H4872 with rejoicing H8057 and with singing, H7892 as it was ordained by H3027 David.^§ H1732

και ενεχειρησεν ιωδαε ο ιερευς τα εργα οικου κυριου δια χειρος ιερεων και λευιτων και ανεστησεν τας εφημεριας των ιερεων και των λευιτων ας διεστειλεν δαυιδ επι τον οικον κυριου και ανενεγκαι ολοκαυτωματα κυριω καθως γεγραπται εν νομω μωυση εν ευφροσυνη και εν ωδαις δια χειρος δαυιδ

Joash did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

Jehoiada took for him two wives, and he became the father of sons and daughters.

The king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, “Why haven’t you required of the Levites to bring in the tax of Moses the servant of Yahweh, and of the assembly of Israel, out of Judah and out of Jerusalem, for the Tent of the Testimony?”

και εκαλεσεν ο βασιλευς ιωας τον ιωδαε τον αρχοντα και ειπεν αυτω δια τι ουκ επεσκεψω περι των λευιτων του εισενεγκαι απο ιουδα και ιερουσαλημ το κεκριμενον υπο μωυση ανθρωπου του θεου οτε εξεκκλησιασεν τον ισραηλ εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου

The king and Jehoiada gave it to those who did the work of the service of Yahweh’s house. They hired masons and carpenters to restore Yahweh’s house, and also those who worked iron and bronze to repair Yahweh’s house.

And the king H4428 and Jehoiada H3077 gave H5414 (QalImpf) it to such as did H6213 (QalActPtc) the work H4399 of the service H5656 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and hired H7936 (QalActPtc) masons H2672 (QalActPtc) and carpenters H2796 to repair H2318 (PielInf) the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and also such as wrought H2796 iron H1270 and brass H5178 to mend H2388 (PielInf) the house H1004 of the Lord. και εδωκεν αυτο ο βασιλευς και ιωδαε ο ιερευς τοις ποιουσιν τα εργα εις την εργασιαν οικου κυριου και εμισθουντο λατομους και τεκτονας επισκευασαι τον οικον κυριου και χαλκεις σιδηρου και χαλκου επισκευασαι τον οικον κυριου

When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, from which were made vessels for Yahweh’s house, even vessels with which to minister and to offer, including spoons and vessels of gold and silver. They offered burnt offerings in Yahweh’s house continually all the days of Jehoiada.

και ως συνετελεσαν ηνεγκαν προς τον βασιλεα και προς ιωδαε το καταλοιπον του αργυριου και εποιησαν σκευη εις οικον κυριου σκευη λειτουργικα ολοκαυτωματων και θυισκας χρυσας και αργυρας και ανηνεγκαν ολοκαυτωσεις εν οικω κυριου δια παντος πασας τας ημερας ιωδαε

But Jehoiada grew old and was full of days, and he died. He was one hundred thirty years old when he died.

Now after the death of Jehoiada, the princes of Judah came and bowed down to the king. Then the king listened to them.

The Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people, and said to them, “God says, ‘Why do you disobey Yahweh’s commandments, so that you can’t prosper? Because you have forsaken Yahweh, he has also forsaken you.’”

και πνευμα θεου ενεδυσεν τον αζαριαν τον του ιωδαε τον ιερεα και ανεστη επανω του λαου και ειπεν ταδε λεγει κυριος τι παραπορευεσθε τας εντολας κυριου και ουκ ευοδωθησεσθε οτι εγκατελιπετε τον κυριον και εγκαταλειψει υμας

Thus Joash the king didn’t remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. When he died, he said, “May Yahweh look at it, and repay it.”

και ουκ εμνησθη ιωας του ελεους ου εποιησεν μετ αυτου ιωδαε ο πατηρ αυτου και εθανατωσεν τον υιον αυτου και ως απεθνησκεν ειπεν ιδοι κυριος και κρινατω

When they had departed from him (for they left him seriously wounded), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and killed him on his bed, and he died. They buried him in David’s city, but they didn’t bury him in the tombs of the kings.

Joiada the son of Paseah and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah repaired the old gate. They laid its beams and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

Jeshua became the father of Joiakim, and Joiakim became the father of Eliashib, and Eliashib became the father of Joiada,

and Joiada became the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan became the father of Jaddua.
