1 Samuel 5 (WEBP)
[1] Now the Philistines had taken God’s ark, and they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
[2] The Philistines took God’s ark, and brought it into the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon.
[3] When the people of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before Yahweh’s ark. They took Dagon and set him in his place again.
[4] When they arose early on the following morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before Yahweh’s ark; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off on the threshold. Only Dagon’s torso was intact.
[5] Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon’s house step on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.
[6] But Yahweh’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and he destroyed them and struck them with tumors, even Ashdod and its borders.
[7] When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel shall not stay with us, for his hand is severe on us and on Dagon our god.”
[8] They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They answered, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried over to Gath.” They carried the ark of the God of Israel there.
[9] It was so, that after they had carried it there, Yahweh’s hand was against the city with a very great confusion; and he struck the men of the city, both small and great, so that tumors broke out on them.
[10] So they sent God’s ark to Ekron. As God’s ark came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel here to us, to kill us and our people.”
[11] They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, “Send the ark of the God of Israel away, and let it go again to its own place, that it not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly panic throughout all the city. The hand of God was very heavy there.
[12] The men who didn’t die were struck with the tumors; and the cry of the city went up to heaven.

1 Samuel 5 (KJVS)
[1] And the Philistines H6430 took H3947 (8804) the ark H727 of God H430, and brought H935 (8686) it from Ebenezer H72 unto Ashdod H795.
[2] When the Philistines H6430 took H3947 (8799) the ark H727 of God H430, they brought H935 (8686) it into the house H1004 of Dagon H1712, and set H3322 (8686) it by H681 Dagon H1712.
[3] And when they of Ashdod H796 arose early H7925 (8686) on the morrow H4283, behold, Dagon H1712 [was] fallen H5307 (8802) upon his face H6440 to the earth H776 before H6440 the ark H727 of the LORD H3068. And they took H3947 (8799) Dagon H1712, and set H7725 him in his place H4725 again H7725 (8686).
[4] And when they arose early H7925 (8686) on the morrow H4283 morning H1242, behold, Dagon H1712 [was] fallen H5307 (8802) upon his face H6440 to the ground H776 before H6440 the ark H727 of the LORD H3068; and the head H7218 of Dagon H1712 and both H8147 the palms H3709 of his hands H3027 [were] cut off H3772 (8803) upon the threshold H4670; only [the stump of] Dagon H1712 was left H7604 (8738) to him.
[5] Therefore neither the priests H3548 of Dagon H1712, nor any that come H935 (8802) into Dagon’s H1712 house H1004, tread H1869 (8799) on the threshold H4670 of Dagon H1712 in Ashdod H795 unto this day H3117.
[6] But the hand H3027 of the LORD H3068 was heavy H3513 (8799) upon them of Ashdod H796, and he destroyed H8074 (8686) them, and smote H5221 (8686) them with emerods H2914 (8675) H6076, [even] Ashdod H795 and the coasts H1366 thereof.
[7] And when the men H582 of Ashdod H795 saw H7200 (8799) that [it was] so, they said H559 (8804), The ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 shall not abide H3427 (8799) with us: for his hand H3027 is sore H7185 (8804) upon us, and upon Dagon H1712 our god H430.
[8] They sent H7971 (8799) therefore and gathered H622 (8799) all the lords H5633 of the Philistines H6430 unto them, and said H559 (8799), What shall we do H6213 (8799) with the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478? And they answered H559 (8799), Let the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 be carried about H5437 (8735) unto Gath H1661. And they carried H5437 the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 about H5437 (8686) [thither].
[9] And it was [so], that, after H310 they had carried it about H5437 (8689), the hand H3027 of the LORD H3068 was against the city H5892 with a very H3966 great H1419 destruction H4103: and he smote H5221 (8686) the men H582 of the city H5892, both small H6996 and great H1419, and they had emerods H2914 (8675) H6076 in their secret parts H8368 (8735).
[10] Therefore they sent H7971 (8762) the ark H727 of God H430 to Ekron H6138. And it came to pass, as the ark H727 of God H430 came H935 (8800) to Ekron H6138, that the Ekronites H6139 cried out H2199 (8799), saying H559 (8800), They have brought about H5437 (8689) the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 to us, to slay H4191 (8687) us and our people H5971.
[11] So they sent H7971 (8799) and gathered together H622 (8799) all the lords H5633 of the Philistines H6430, and said H559 (8799), Send away H7971 (8761) the ark H727 of the God H430 of Israel H3478, and let it go again H7725 (8799) to his own place H4725, that it slay H4191 (8686) us not, and our people H5971: for there was a deadly H4194 destruction H4103 throughout all the city H5892; the hand H3027 of God H430 was very H3966 heavy H3513 (8804) there.
[12] And the men H582 that died H4191 (8804) not were smitten H5221 (8717) with the emerods H2914 (8675) H6076: and the cry H7775 of the city H5892 went up H5927 (8799) to heaven H8064.
Young’s Literal Translation
1 Samuel 5 (YLT)
[1] And the Philistines have taken the ark of God, and bring it in from Eben-Ezer to Ashdod,
[2] and the Philistines take the ark of God and bring it into the house of Dagon, and set it near Dagon.
[3] And the Ashdodites rise early on the morrow, and lo, Dagon is fallen on its face to the earth, before the ark of Jehovah; and they take Dagon, and put it back to its place.
[4] And they rise early in the morning on the morrow, and lo, Dagon is fallen on its face to the earth, before the ark of Jehovah, and the head of Dagon, and the two palms of its hands are cut off at the threshold, only the fishy part hath been left to him;
[5] therefore the priests of Dagon, and all those coming into the house of Dagon, tread not on the threshold of Dagon, in Ashdod, till this day.
[6] And the hand of Jehovah is heavy on the Ashdodites, and He maketh them desolate, and smiteth them with emerods, Ashdod and its borders.
[7] And the men of Ashdod see that it is so, and have said, ‘The ark of the God of Israel doth not abide with us, for hard hath been His hand upon us, and upon Dagon our god.’
[8] And they send and gather all the princes of the Philistines unto them, and say, ‘What do we do to the ark of the God of Israel?’ and they say, ‘To Gath let the ark of the God of Israel be brought round;’ and they bring round the ark of the God of Israel;
[9] and it cometh to pass after they have brought it round, that the hand of Jehovah is against the city-a very great destruction; and He smiteth the men of the city, from small even unto great; and break forth on them do emerods.
[10] And they send the ark of God to Ekron, and it cometh to pass, at the coming in of the ark of God to Ekron, that the Ekronites cry out, saying, ‘They have brought round unto us the ark of the God of Israel, to put us to death-and our people.’
[11] And they send and gather all the princes of the Philistines, and say, ‘Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and it turneth back to its place, and it doth not put us to death-and our people;’ for there hath been a deadly destruction throughout all the city, very heavy hath the hand of God been there,
[12] and the men who have not died have been smitten with emerods, and the cry of the city goeth up into the heavens.
